ICU was 5 stars, ward rooms very dated and unclean. Reports of black mould, hospital cant even supply patients basic oral care in case patient forgot to bring it. DATED entertainment system. Some nurses are great, but some are just ticking off hours. Out of ICU was put on a bed which was too short for me, when I asked to get an appropriate size bed , response was no we don't have ( that bed could have been from a ward un the 70's First night out of ICU nurses did not even put call bell near me. Make matters worse was put in a room where aicon was turned off, AS A PATIENT I HAD TO call and tell reception that air con is not working as the nurse just said 'oh I do not know why aircon not working Sharps container has been full no one bothers to change it. Dated malfunctioning oxy meters and blood pressure machines unclean between usage between patient rooms. Had an army of 4 cleaners come barging in room to clean windows with no regards to patient privacy HAD I HAD THE CHOICE WOULD HAVE GONE AND PROCEDURE DONE AT ST JOHN OF GOD HOSPITAL Recomendation don't get cardiac surgery done at mount hospital, in hind sight would have had done more research on hospitals

Had an overnight stay after a surgery! Facilities was well maintained and all looked very clean. Special mention to Fauze/rauze worked the nights shift on 2nd floor Monday night, best nurse ever! Very attentive and very helpful! Probably the dream person to take care of you when you unwell! Rose and Yurenka? Was also very friendly and attentive and made you feel at ease. Not sure about some of the negative remarks here! But it can get very busy and resources can often get stretched. Thank you from me

I was recently in this hospital for surgery. It was without a doubt the worst hospital experience I have ever had. While the theatre and anaesthetic team were exceptional, the ward staff on the whole delivered substandard care and minimal emotional and physical support. As a nurse with 50 years experience I know my way around the health system and would avoid this hospital unless offered no other alternative. I have reported my concerns directly to hospital providing my feedback in detail.

**STAY AWAY** CARE LEVEL = 0 A family member had fairly major surgery here and while the surgery itself went well, the level of care after that was nothing short of traumatising. Responses from nursing staff to calls for assistance took 45mins+ on occasions and staff expressed annoyance at requests for help. After a request for help with a shower, the nurse said they would go and ask someone and then never came back. It was so bad that we just had to get her out of there. So much for professional care. We certainly don't want anyone else to have to endure this treatment.

I had major surgery at The Mount Hospital in May 2020. The care in theatre was fine but the care from the nursing staff after that was certainly not at all what I would have expected from a private hospital. With the exception of one kind nurse who was on the first time I got out of bed and helped with my shower, there was very little kindness or care shown at all. Without going into detail here, I actually came home earlier than I was ready to as the lack of care was so distressing. I wish I had read the reviews before I went and hope that it may help others by my leaving a review. I have emailed my complaints to the hospital several weeks ago and apart from acknowledging the fact that they have received them, I have heard no more, so have decided to proceed with a negative review - something I have never done before.

I was admitted twice within four days as my surgery had to be cancelled the first time. Prior to the first admission I was told to shower the night before using a surgical scrub type soap. I was also told that once I was admitted to hospital in the morning I would be told that I would again have to shower using the scrub. After several hours sitting on the bed I asked why I hadnโ€™t been made ready for my surgery. I was told a nurse would be with me in a few minutes. Eventually a nurse came and told me to get dressed in the robe, which I did. She then came back in, told me to put disposable underwear on and she then put a pair of compression stockings on. I asked her why I hadnโ€™t had a shower as advised. She told me that I should have had it at home so I had to undress, shower and get dressed again. Anyway, it was all a waste of time as I was sent home due to my surgery being cancelled. I was re-admitted several days later. This time no one mentioned showering in the scrub soap. I was placed in a shared room even though I had requested a private room. I was told I would be shifted once a single room became vacant. That happened later in the afternoon of the next day. What a shock. I went from a relatively quiet, large room to a very noisy shoe box. The room faced Mounts Bay Road so was very busy and lots of traffic noise as the window is not double glazed. The main door to my tiny room faced a very busy, noisy area. Phones and nurse call buzzers going all day and night. Staff banging trolleys and people standing outside my door talking day and night. The TV worked in a fashion but some channels didnโ€™t work at all and others had vision but no sound. On discharge I was told I would have to walk up the street to the pharmacy to get my medication. I had just undergone major spinal surgery so this was very difficult for me to do. Most of my nursing staff were fantastic. Very caring. I would never recommend this hospital under any circumstances but unfortunately when you have an exceptional surgeon and this is where he operates then you have little choice.

Booked in for a Myelogram on 20th April. Booked into my hospital room at 07:15, and meant to be having scan by 08:30, but nobody turned up to collect me until nearly 09:00, my nurse said that nobody had told her that I was in the room awaiting collection (Not the nurses fault, the hospital admin may be the issue, booked in at staff change over Night to days). After my procedure, I spent 6 hours immobile to ensure that spinal cord did not leak, and I found that the room temperature was going hot to cold, but mainly just too hot. Another patient said that they have been having issues with the air con for some time now, or they are not running it correctly to save money on electricity, plus the Mount have just made over 30 of the nursing staff redundant to increase their profits to shareholders, so the nurses are now run off their feet (too few nurses to a whole floor of patients). Shame on you "Healthscope" (Owners of Mount Hospital). Poor treatment of your nurses translates to poor treatment of patients. The nurses really do the best under this immense pressure.

Very rude nursing staff , lack of care towards patient, inconsistent information given , hygiene concerns , bleak cold room ... I took a close family member there last week for an op and 2 day stay , and apart from the checking in process which was very professional and a website link so you can track your 'patient' which is awesome this hospital showed unfortunately how inattentive staff can be and an unwelcoming concerning environment for a sick loved one. One nurse was so rude on 3 occasions that I was going to formally complain but the patient -my family member was scared to due to any possible repercussions during their stay there. There were many staff on the ward and many empty beds ....and as I observed, plenty time for some staff to engage on social media on mobiles and discuss personal recreational plans . Our family member had to constantly buzz for any attention and i had several times to go and ask staff outside his door if they could please attend to this patient as he had buzzed several times. On one occasion he required nursing assistance to go to the toilet as he had only been back from recovery after the op for less than an hour. He was reprimanded infront of me for not telling them earlier when 'they had come round for handover!!!!' There were other instances with this nurse and her attitude and behaviour digraceful and very concerning. It was observed that the bin in the room was not sealed nor emptied during the time our family member was there ..31 hrs approx and there were dirty rubber gloves used to tend to the patient , used coffee cups , tissues , food etc in it and on display. Also the needle yellow box was left open. The meals were amongst the worst we had experienced and very very small by ANY hospital standards. There is no security at all it seems as anyone can come off the street and go to any floor/ward and access patients and resources with no intervention from any hospital staff. Its bizarre ! Anyhow this 'private hospital' was in the region of $3.5k for one night stay which is shocking and nothing like SJOG , so be prepared .

There is a lot of parking but very small and can be hard to get into. There are some renovation work which made the parking free at the time is in 23 October 2023. The waiting are is cool and has plenty of chairs. They are not the best but could do with a better headrest on the sofa style. Could do with free drinking water, possible snacks would be nice. The front staff is friendly.

Dr M Daviโ€™s 2014 messed up with my husband blood thinning medication. 18 strokes and2 heart attacks later with brain damage. Is dying a painful end. 8 years of suffering and denial from all. Ruined his life but happy to take money. Dr C Merry . Apology would of been good for the devastation . So angry and devastated.

I had great expectations for the $3700 a night my private health was being charged for my partners stay in hospital. Same story as others about the surgical wash, nothing at all was explained which caused us great anxiety. I was told that I could see my partner through to surgery but was then told that wasnโ€™t possible. Again, more anxiety. The nursing staff were indifferent when I was there and didnโ€™t seem to care. Not sure why you book a private room when youโ€™re put in with a guy who might as well have been playing bagpipes. When my partner complained about the Josie you shut the door, causing it to echo.

Parking is an issue. The building and facilities are ageing. It's ok for a minor procedure, but i won't go here for major ops.

Whilst I feel the Mount Hospital is looking very tired, well overdue for a facelift, the staff, starting with Reception, are wonderful. Always happy & obliging. It has been a second home to my brother over the past 9 years & as recent as March 2022, I can only highly recommend All Specialist & Nursing staff. Sure weโ€™ll be back! ๐Ÿ˜‚

would give no stars if i could, extremely rude and unhelpful staff, was charged full admission on a cancelled surgery, only thing they did for me was give me an infection in my arm (operation was due to abdominal), didn't even get offered as much as a stale sandwich during my stay!

The nurses here seem to just love their job. Beautiful people that made the experience seamless. I cannot praise them highly enough. Room had a beautiful view. Food was lovely. Nurses are amazing humans, I say it every time Iโ€™m in hospital. But the smiles and camaraderie between the staff here set them apart from hospital visits in other locations. Well done legends.

Clear communication before my procedure, quick check in. Very efficient all the way. Gorgeous morning and afternoon staff. Night shift did let the side down - took 2 hours and 4 bell calls to get some more water! Alarms left ringing for more than 30 minutes and my neighbour had a clamp left in her catheter!

Date of admission - 17 - 18 July Karri Ward Patient - Michael Sofoulis under Mister Ben Kimberley for "Ulnar Fracture Open Reduction Fixation Right" Boarder - Kate Sofoulis Bouquets - - to Director of Nursing (?) Evelyn, who took a personal interest in this admission and assured me changes were underway, including blankets back on Karri Ward and hopefully a blanket warmer. - to bed allocation for ensuring a smooth admission without concerns about my sleeping arrangements. - so pleasant to find boxes of tissues on each bedside table in our shared room, an additional chair and soap in the bathroom. - for a scrupulously clean room. - to Karri nurses Tina, Nicole, Yehlen, Barry and Elsa. - to Mister Ben Kimberley and his team. - to theatre and recovery staff. Brickbats - - some domestic staff need to be reminded how to enter a room quietly, particularly at six o'clock in the morning! - no towels in the bathroom, so fetched them myself from the linen trolley. This service really should be attended to by staff responsible for the rooms' readiness, so that patients don't have to ask for them. - airconditioning still too cold. I observed an elderly gentleman in Tuart Ward wearing pyjamas, a dressing gown and a woollen beanie. - patients/ visitors pantry needs to be upgraded (urgently), as Michael's dinner could not be heated up. - tablet given to Michael after it had fallen on the floor! - toilet seats need to be prioritised as renovations roll out. I once more had to hold up the seat for Michael. - the Mount needs to urgently set a timetable for upgrading of rooms. I understand that COVID 19 threw a huge spanner in the works, however the rooms have needed to be renovated for the last ten years. - please have admin update the webpage for executive staff, as i could not accurately remember Evelyn's title. I wish the Mount every success but they must lift their game, given the charges levied to patients. Date of admission - 19-20 June 2020 Karri Ward. Patient - Michael Sofoulis under Mister Ben Kimberley for wrist and hand surgery. Boarder - Kate Sofoulis. Bouquets - - to Karri nurses Sanna, Tracey, Cathy, Yelen, Barry and Elsa. - to Ben Kimberley and Anna Negus and Ben's assistant Tariq Batanony. - to Eric in Pre-op - to our theatre orderly who confirmed I could go to Pre-op - to the rest of the theatre and recovery staff Brickbats - - failure of communication again - concerning my boarding with Michael. - contradictory communication regarding my presence in Pre-op. - lack of boarder beds - four only in the entire hospital. Totally unacceptable. - toilet seat - that had to be held up for Michael's toileting in 282/283. - no tissues in the rooms or ensuites. - no soap for showering. - poorly repaired and unsafe shelf in room 235. - dirt and a used and blood-soiled cotton dressing under the bed in 282/283. - no microwave in the patients/visitors pantry for heating up Michael's dinner after theatre - the excuse will be safety for those using the pantry. - airconditioning unable to be adjusted and directly over one bed whilst the other bed had no airflow - room 282/283. - no blankets unless requested from theatre or same day ward. - no towels in room 282/283 - fetched from the linen trolley myself. - renovation of patient rooms to modern, comfortable and welcoming urgently needed. Please heed these observations and act upon them. We were charged $1900 for the night and $2100 for "Prosthesis/Gap" fee. Yours sincerely, Kate Sofoulis.

As a visitor to the hospital for a week, I found the ward and medical staff to be friendly and helpful o patients and visitors. The reception staff however were consistently unhelpful and decidedly unfriendly, not even a glance up or a welcoming smile to any of the people coming through the doors. When I, a slight 62 year old woman was lugging a chair back to reception a nurse had kindly left for my patient to sit in while he waited for me to arrive in the pick up area, she looked up and straight back down again. A smile, a nod, even a thank you would have been nice! Get nicer, more โ€˜people friendlyโ€™ people to sit in that chair! Reception staff at hospitals need to go the extra inch as hospitals are often very challenging places for all involvedโ€ฆnot just the patients!

I recently underwent surgery at the Mount and couldnโ€™t fault anything. I had a few lovely nurses on the ward and in theatre, but I do want to give a special mention to Taylah. She was amazing. Thorough, friendly, supportive, I canโ€™t rave about her enough. Overall a very positive experience.

Runs like a well oiled machine. From my 1st contact with the front desk on check-in to the ward staff and pre and post op staff were all helpful, friendly and amazing compentent. I apologise that I can't remember all your names but special thanks the Ellen, Cathy and Yellen, and all the Op theatre staff - you were excellent and put my fears of surgery at ease. Also big thanks to Dr's Jeffs and Popovic -real pro's . 10 stars from me .

Wait time for admissions was a bit long, however i absolutely impressed with the quality of care at this hospital! from the surgical staff to the ward nurses i was treated extremely well during my stay. one particular nurse (Yehlen) was amazingly attentive and definitely made me feel more comfortable and happy during my stay. i cant say how impressed i am, honestly. so thankful to the amazing carers who made me feel heard, looked after and were always willing to help me no matter how small the request or task.

Staff friendly and pleasant on arrival .A long wait From the time we have arrived then moved into the day procedure's waiting room, it has been a long wait for for patient going into proceedure and not one staff member has been in here to check on how we are all going or if they could help in any way. Where is the customer service. Parking limited and not easy to get one if arriving at a busy time. Personally i think we should not be charged a parking fee if we are paying for our procedure etc.parking should be free more parking should be supplied to people arriving for appointments otherwise you have to walk a fair way to get a spot near or around the hospital.

Check in was excellent and most of the nurses on the Karri Ward were also outstanding. However, not even 24hrs post op and with a mild temperature I was sent home. I was not given any explaination on what to do with my dressings, like if I could shower or if I needed to change my dressings etc.....the lack of care for my wellbeing was very poor. I was telling the nurses about my pain and temperature but they didnt care. I would of thought a full explanation of what to do post- op should be a critical part of my care but I felt like they couldn't wait to get rid of me. They also lied about my temperature reading on my discharge form probably so nothing comes back on them! I still had a mild temperature when I seen my doctor on Friday and she was shocked to hear how badly I had been treated. Definatley would not recommend this hospital to anyone.

I was in Room 236 for a thyroid operation on 13 October 2016, and can honestly say that I have never been treated better by nursing staff in all my life! My surgery was scheduled for 13h00 and I was in the OR at 13h00. I would like to thank everybody involved, from staff at admissions to porters, OR staff, nurses and Drs Ghanim and Rhodes for taking care of me, it's much appreciated!

Having spent 5 days at The Mount after lung surgery I can't speak more highly of the hospital, staff (including ALL staff). The food offered had variety(3 choices each day), along with friendly and efficient service. The standard of medical care was exceptional. Genuine concern for a patients well being and comfort was paramount. I would not have any hesitation with recommending The Mount to my family and friends. Finally to all those people posting negative reviews (some of which I feel are downright malicious) it is a hospital and not an hotel. Many thanks to you all. I had two operations at the Mount Hospital back in 2015 and the standard of care was abysmal due to a lack of care by the nursing staff allowing the saline bag to run dry, and the second time not noticing that my arm was bloated because the saline stent was not in the vein. I recently had a day procedure and was hoping that the past was the past. However, I woke from the anesthetic in the room and no-one came to check on me for over two hours. There was no call button and i was freezing. The only attention i got was from the catering lady who brought me three blankets and then the discharge nurse. Eighteen months ago i had a stay in Saint John of God Hospital in Subiaco for 10 weeks due to encephalitis and the standard of care every day was exemplary. A total contrast to the dysfunctional administration at the Mount. I now need a heart operation and the specialist operates at the Mount, which makes me very concerned for my safety and well being.

I had day surgery which ended up in an overnight stay. Clarise in my day ward and Yehlen my overnight nurse were beautiful and caring. One of the best stays Iโ€™ve had in a hospital. Yes the place may look tired and what some would say run down but the room is clean, tidy and comfortable.

The mount hospital After having a spinal surgery the last thing you want is to be in a noisey environment. Some of the staff were great. A lot of loud staff especially aftanoon and night shift absulutly bloody joke. Two nights in a row when in severe pain had to get out of bed and go looking for a nurse. To give me medication as to not responding to the emergency buzzer for 20 30 minutes or a pleasant thing to go through at all. โ€NOT HAPPY"

Terrible experience at the mount from their staff , food , care and more . It was actually embarrassing seeing the chaos and lack of communication ie : nurses arguing over my bed , constantly leaving the door open after asking them to shut it multiple times for privacy. 30 plus minutes waiting for nurses ringing the bell , no care offered with terrible attitudes . Get some pride about what you do never seen such lack of pride.

Although the building itself needs a lot work itโ€™s the people inside that matter . The care I was given by the staff was 10 out 10. Special thanks to nurse Yehlen she is just a beautiful soul and she simply cares about her patients . Dr Graham Jeffโ€™s is a caring empathetic specialist and an amazing surgeon . He came to see me twice after the surgery which shows he cares about his patients The food was also very nice . Thankyou to all the staff and Dr Graham Jeffโ€™s for your support and care I appreciate it immensely. You have made a hospital experience a pleasant one ๐Ÿ‘ G Pratt

My mum went there for heart surgery and staff have been amazing, doctors and surgeons are patient and explain the procedures very clearly and with care. Plenty of space in the main lobby (waiting area). Food though is quite average, but not a deal breaker because mum was there for heart surgery and not a vacation.

I absolutely must share my wonderful experience today, as a first-time Day Surgery patient in the private hospital at The Mount. Being a veteran of multiple day surgeries for pain relief and a major surgery on my spine 5 years ago it was very interesting to note the attention to detail and graciousness of the staff while under pressure. For starters, I arrived at 7am and it was already very busy. I was immediately welcomed by reception downstairs, guided as to where to wait, and actually I was a little confused, so that advice was appreciated. I was processed fairly swiftly there and guided to the next waiting area. Day Surgery waiting area also was staffed by friendly receptionists, despite there being some very cranky, even rude, patients. Well done! There was a serious delay by around 8am, however Sylvia from our next ward came in to explain as best she could and reassure. This was good to hear, as any communication is useful. (My hubbie was wondering about approximate time to collect me, plus, while fasting and tired, a check-in is appreciated.) Next, the nursing station ahead of pre-op and I noticed how very busy the 3 nurses (including Sylvia) were, but attentive and kind. I have a special advance medical directive and at each stage all staff acknowledged my needs and this also was very reassuring, even though the chances of the directives being necessary were very remote. Thank you! The orderly, John, and later another, but I was woozy so didn't catch his name, also wonderful. As were all the nurses handing me over and the pre-op nurses (Lisa and Taylah?); absolutely delightful. By this stage I was shivering (very cold, fanging for coffee and a steak sandwich but now close to the finish line!), so they made me comfy and welcome and again acknowledged my advance medical directive. The young orderly who wheeled me in was really cheery. This all helps!! My fantastic surgeon and equally fantastic anesthetist I realise are independent but the camaraderie with the theatre staff is VERY telling in my experience, and was pleasing to observe. Thanks for allowing the cool soundtrack! I woke up to the wonderful Hesbe (spelling?) assisting me in the Recovery ward. What a beautiful, compassionate soul, who did not leave my side until I was comfortable and warm. Her bedside manner was outstanding and handover very smooth. Thank you, Hesbe! Lastly back to Sylvia, my discharge nurse Sonia, and team (which now seemed to number more than 3 but still super busy), and again, kudos on the cheery and attentive care! Sonia even had my preferred sandwich sent up. It was not steak, but it was freshly made and I have steak at home. Heeheehee. From beginning to end I felt welcomed, valued and listened to, despite the pressures we all know are happening in the health sector. Thank you so much for this very positive experience! If I may make two observations; I overheard perhaps 6 carers, waiting for their patients, asking about a cafe, and somewhere not so very chilly to wait (Day Surgery waiting area was very cold), and if my hubby had not returned to home nearby he'd have asked, too. I overheard the nearest cafe is not on the premises so might be inconvenient. May I suggest a self-serve coffee machine on the ground floor near reception? The temperature there is perfect, the seating abundant and even the view is nice if you ignore the traffic. I'm thinking of self-serve machines seen in hotel breakfast rooms. And to cover costs in B&Bs, when available, we simply pay reception desk for the pods we need. Thanks so much for a great experience

I had a procedure on my lower back Friday 22nd July and since coming home I have not been able to move my neck properly without pain, the surgeon was aware of my neck issues as we discussed it in our consult so I don't know what they did to me in the theatre but this is not good, I can't turn to the right without pain and it is very stiff. Also the nurses let me walk out on my own, I had no idea where I was going and my partner said she found me wondering in the carpark...think I would be better off dropping my private health and going to a public hospital, the mount is supposed to be a top private hospital?! ๐Ÿ‘Ž

I'm giving 5 star's to the beautiful care I received, the hospital itself, really does need updating. I will forever be grateful to Dr Cunningham and his amazing team, they have been fantastic, could not fault them in any way. Although I am still in the early stages of healing, I feel positive that I was in the best hands. To the nurse's, Tina, Meagan, Cathrine, Brant, the most adorable Fom, Sue and I know I have missed some name's which I'm sorry for. Word's will do no justice for the care I received, you were all so kind and gentle, not once did I feel my needs were not met. Such a hard working team, you should feel nothing but pride in the amazing job you do. I will never forget any of you, thank you for making my stay at Mounts hospital, the best it could possibly be. UPDATE 2023- Mount hospital surgeries cancelled due to finding black mould! Not surprised! No wonder patients get infections. Disgusting for a "private" hospital used by cosmetic surgeons. 2021- Terrible hospital. Very unsanitary. Nurses lie on documents and leave out information. They have lack of care.

I recently had joint replacement surgery and 5 day stay at the Mount. I was very nervous before my op however all the Drs and nurses provided reassurance and kindness. After my surgery I was moved into the Tuart Ward with Dr Larry Liew and the amazing team of nurses and physios. The nursing and compassion I received could not be faulted and when I was discharged I felt confident that I could cope on my own. The only negative aspect of my experience was the car park whose amount of spaces should be reduced and lines redrawn to fit with todays larger vehicles which would enable reasonable room to park and get out of your car.

Admitting staff - great. What I can remember of the Theatre Staff - great. Nursing staff on ward - great. Food was ordinary But what has happened to the hospital. This facility is need of an urgent upgrade. Fittings were broken. Fixtures were old and the grounds - no one cares about them. I asked for a maintenance person to come fix the blinds was in two weeks - never saw anyone. I honestly feel sorry for the wonderful people who work there.

This hospital has gone downhill since I was here in 1994. The food is 3rd rate. The staff are fantastic. The building is in need of a serious refit.

Being a private hospital, I was stuperfied by the lack of professionalism and courtesy with front reception in attending to my phone enquiries. Front reception, being their first point of contact, I would assumed the receptionist delivery of customer service would be of a higher standard. Her rude phone mannerism and neglect in assisting me with my concerns, as a client, I was made feel my concerns and enquiries was of no importance. I was scheduled for surgery on the 17th of October with Dr Colbert so paper work needed to be addressed and finalised. I have made attempts to contact Accounts for a period of almost one week via phone every day and through e-mail for a call back and they neglected to return my calls. I was disconcerted with the receptionist lack of interest in assisting me, and with her response to my enquiries. I was advised that there was only one person in Accounts for the Hospital, I had to learn to wait as she cannot do anything about it or ring every day so by chance I might get through to Anna from Accounts if she is not busy. Her lack of attentiveness had such a negative impact on how I viewed the Hospital. It had resulted in my decision of not utilizing Dr Colbert's service because, unfortunately, The Mount was the nominated practice that the Doctor does his surgery.

I've just had a procedure done here and must say that I am very pleased and impressed with the level of care that I have received from the nurses. My questions were always answered/followed up and I was really listened to. The place also looks like a hotel when you first walk in. Excellent staff, thank you.

I don't know why hospitals find it so hard to provide any level of service/systems come in and one contact point down stairs. Was not told about the app to see how/where patent is at. Then told my father was third booked in and would be notified when he was finished. He ended up being last no call I came in after 4 hours then needed to waite another 3 hours might be leaving at 6.30. I can't understand how they can't sort out these basics given 6000 cost for an hour procedure. We are customers I with the medical industry would remember this.

Very disappointed in the hygiene standards of the hospital. I have not seen one nurse wash or sanitise there hands. They are that understaffed at night time they had an employee (orderly I believe) sitting in the ward answering phones and he was that sick sniffing and coughing was absolutely horrible. As I walked past and said you alright he was that sick he didnโ€™t even acknowledge me. Not good enough in this day and age.

I went in for day surgery on the 9th of Jan. I was admitted quickly and the staff were lovely. The surgery went well and I was well looked after. However, despite telling the nurse I still felt very drowsy I was walked to the elevator to be discharged. The front desk told me all good and I walked out the doors unassisted. Luckily the person I had organised to pick me up was nearby as according to them I was out of it and unsteady on my feet. Once home I got a call to tell me they'd forgotten to give me my breathing exercises and explained them over the phone. I got another call an hour later as they'd forgotten to give me my follow up appointment with my surgeon. I was given no info on how to look after the incisions and my wound care arrived in the mail a week later...

Very negligent and lack of attention to patient needs. My daughter was admitted after a surgery in a double bed room. The other patient got released, and 24 hours after their release the trash was still there. Nurses forgot to change the bandages for one full day until they were reminded by the doctor. Forgot to serve lunch one day.

My dad had his rehab at the Mount and the whole experience was fantastic. All the staff were helpful and caring. He was there for over 4 weeks and it is testament to the team that his progress was so quick. Special thanks to Dr Liew, Noby, Pauline and Slavica. We still cannot believe how much care you showed to our dad and we will be forever grateful!

Recently had to stay a couple of nights for a surgery and they would have been horrible without Lorna and Lilly. Both nurses were so lovely and caring. Lorna is compassionate, kind and genuinely cares. Iโ€™m so thankful she was my nurse and if you ever have to stay at Mount Hospital you will be in the best hands with Lorna and Lilly. Thank you so much

Best medical care I have ever received. I had a big difficult operation and everyone cared for me in the most personal of ways. The Doctor was amazing but the nurses went above and beyond. Thank you thank you so much for making my stay so much easier.

I have just arrived home from having surgery and a two night stay in the Karri Ward at The Mount hospital. I don't know how to express my gratefulness to my Doctor Arif Valibuoy and nurses Julie, Megan, Maricar and the nurse who shared her own journey of surgery with me one late night and was so kind and encouraging. Every medical professional that treated me during my stay was amazing, competent (with my tricky veins!) And friendly too. The room was lovely and everything was so clean. If I needed anything it was given to me so quickly. The hardest working Drs and nurses ever, I don't know how they keep the pace. My surgery is life changing and I'm so grateful.

There were a lot of issues with my 35-hour stay at the Mount and I would never recommend it because of the following: 1. The room on arrival was freezing. When I queried the temperature, I was told that the air conditioning at the Mount is a problem. I was given a pile of blankets to keep me warm. 2. As a self-funding patient, I had expected and paid for a private room. I ended up sharing. I will be awaiting the refund for the difference between a private and shared room. 3. The room looked worn and battered, reminiscent of a 1950's public hospital. There was a hole in the wall and scratches and scuff marks on the electrical conduit above my bed. There was no carpet on the floors, just some cheap linoleum. 4. There were no towels in the bathroom (I had to dry my hands with toilet paper TWICE, despite having asked for towels FOUR times). They only appeared on the 4th occasion the day after my surgery. 5. The food was appalling. In the 35 hours I was in hospital, I only ate an egg and salad sandwich, a slice of sourdough bread, and the chicken and salad contents of a wrap. At no time was I ever offered a menu. I had specified on my admission form that I don't eat red meat, but do eat chicken and fish, yet was given a beef curry for dinner the first night. When I objected, the egg sandwich was found for me. I was very surprised by the breakfast offering (none of which I could eat) - pancakes and syrup, raisin bread, sweetened apple juice and cornflakes. Everything (apart from perhaps the cornflakes) was laden with sugar! Aren't pancakes a dessert? Isn't a hospital meant to be encouraging healthy eating choices? This is all 1980's food. Times have moved on! How about some Bircher muesli, yogurt, eggs and fresh fruit for breakfast? The sourdough bread eventually found for me was quite acceptable. 6. After waking up from surgery, I felt something sharp in my left eye. It felt like I was slicing a groove in the cornea every time I blinked. I was in agony and the nurse didn't know what to do. I suggested finding some eyedrops, but nothing was forthcoming. Surely there is at least some saline easily accessible in a hospital. I have had laser surgery on my eyes and was really worried that whatever was in it was causing damage. Eventually the nurse found some Chlorsig ointment which helped. This is the same ointment I am now applying to my stitches! Hopefully that was appropriate to use in my eye. 7. The day after surgery, once I had finally obtained some towels, I had to endure the cleaner mopping the room and wanting to clean the bathroom when I was planning to shower. Cleaning the bathroom was put on hold so that I could shower (why would it be done beforehand when I was leaving that day?) but I felt very uncomfortable showering with someone cleaning the room with the main bedroom door open when I had to exit the bathroom wrapped in a small towel! I was feeling very vulnerable and uncomfortable after surgery and having to share the room was bad enough, but having the cleaner there when I was trying to make myself presentable before going home was just awkward. She was pleasant enough, but not even the presence of a patient in the room was going to get in the way of her cleaning schedule! By way of contrast, I spent 9 days at Hollywood Hospital 3 years ago. It was like a 5-star hotel. My meal options were given to me a day in advance by a staff member using an iPad and I always received what I'd ordered. The food was magnificent and I couldn't wait for meal times. I had a beautiful private room overlooking the gardens on Monash Ave. This was as a BUPA-funded patient and I didn't pay anything for my stay. It was such a wonderful experience that didn't want to leave! The Mount needs to have some serious money spent on it to bring it up to the standard of our other private hospitals. One of the orderlies told me (as he struggled to navigate my bed through the narrow room doorway and do a 3-point turn to get me into the lift) that it used to be a hotel in a previous life. The conversion and lack of maintenance clearly is a problem.
