Ben's
coaching
and
programming
gave
me
exactly
what
I
needed
-
a
solid
strength
base
to
stay
injury-free
while
running
and
more
recently
playing
field
hockey.
At
30
I
was
very
running-fit,
clocking
a
22:17
parkrun
PB.
But
after
life
circumstances
prevented
me
from
training
for
several
months
it
took
me
a
long
time
to
get
back
into
it,
and
persistent
knee
niggles
and
a
lack
of
structured
programming
meant
my
training
was
lacklustre
and
I
wasn't
getting
anywhere.
In
early
2021
my
husband
and
I
started
2-1
coaching
with
Ben,
and
after
a
few
months
I
transitioned
to
group
coaching
2-3
times/week
(combined
with
1-3
runs/week).
In
Aug
21
we
took
part
in
a
friendly
interclub
powerlifting
comp,
at
which
I
squatted
70kg,
benched
42.5kg,
and
deadlifted
the
magical
100kg
(at
57kg
bodyweight),
all
roughly
double
what
I
was
lifting
when
starting
out.
After
a
break,
I
did
more
2-1
with
hubby,
then
more
group
coaching,
working
through
some
left
hamstring
strain
probably
resulting
from
running
too
much/too
hard
after
the
lifting
comp
(ego
got
the
better
of
me
going
for
that
100!).
Ben
provided
lots
of
encouragement
and
expert
guidance
through
all
of
that,
and
much
to
my
surprise
and
delight
I
have
been
able
to
play
my
first
season
of
hockey
this
winter
without
anything
beyond
very
minor
post-game
soreness
and
a
little
bit
of
quad
and
hamstring
strain
after
going
a
bit
too
hard
in
my
first
game!
I've
got
a
powerful
hit,
am
always
first
runner
on
a
short
corner,
and
it
feels
so
good
to
be
able
to
play
a
whole
game
(~6km
total
distance)
without
needing
to
sub
out.
And
the
hockey
has
massively
improved
my
running,
such
that
I
recently
clocked
a
new
5k
all-time
PB
of
22:03
(just
before
I
turned
36).
I'm
stoked!
These
accomplishments
have
been
so
very
rewarding,
and
I
am
convinced
that
laying
that
foundation
of
strength
under
Ben's
guidance
is
what
has
enabled
me
to
progress
so
much
this
year
and
remain
injury-free.
Highly
recommend
WCBC
to
anyone
wanting
to
get
strong
-
whether
it's
for
competition,
for
other
fitness
activities,
or
simply
for
life.
You
won't
regret
it!
