My
friends,
who
are
an
ethnic
pot-pourri
of
cultures,
asked
me
to
organise
something
different
from
the
norm
as
an
afternoon
activity.
So,
I
booked
the
5
of
us
on
a
two
hour
Swan
River
Cruise
with
the
Little
Ferry
Company,
departing
from
the
Barrack
St
Jetty
at
Elizabeth
Quay.
Because
I
chose
the
12noon
departure,
I
decided
to
bring
an
afternoon
tea
aboard
the
boat,
and
our
Skipper
Bob
was
happy
enough
for
us
to
do
so.
The
Boat
was
well
equipped
with
2
electric
motors,
which
gave
it
the
capacity
to
travel
at
8
knots/ph.
This
had
to
be
the
most
comfortable
and
most
enjoyable
ferry
ride
I
have
every
been
on
in
my
life,
and
I
speak
from
experience.
Of
course
the
weather
was
in
our
favour,
and
the
temperature
was
just
right.
We
made
a
few
stops
in
our
journey
up
and
down
the
Swan
allowing
for
a
rest
room
break.
The
boat
comfortably
accommodated
13
people,
and
was
especially
entertaining
because
of
the
on-board
commentary
provided
by
Skipper
Bob.
He
was
an
absolute
delight
and
Fountain
of
Knowledge,
when
it
came
to
giving
us
the
history
behind
some
of
the
historical
sites
along
one
of
Perth's
most
under-rated
tourist
attractions...the
Swan
River.
Skipper
Bob
was
not
your
run
of
the
mill
pilot.
The
owner,
Kevin,
had
provided
him
with
a
very
attractive
uniform,
magnificent
boat,
and
Skipper
Bob
provided
us
with
a
commentary,
that
included
some
humorous
anecdotes,
and
perfectly
complimented
our
journey
as
we
enjoyed
our
specially
prepared
afternoon
tea
with
wine.
Even
if
we
ran
into
a
bit
of
bad
weather,
the
boat
was
designed
to
protect
us
from
light
rains,
harsh
sun,
and
guaranteed
a
smooth
&
quiet
cruise.
I
would
strongly
recommend
this
Little
Ferry
Company
Cruise
to
all
residents
of
Perth,
their
families,
interstate
&
overseas
visitors,
and
anyone
looking
for
a
most
relaxing
and
enjoyable
day
out
in
Perth.
The
Barrack
St
Jetty
is
easily
accessible
by
buses,
from
the
Elizabeth
Quay
Bus
Station,
which
is
virtually
across
the
street
from
the
Elizabeth
Quay
Foreshore
Development,
boasting
some
of
the
best
eateries
in
Perth,
and
one
of
two
of
Perth's
only
5
Star
Luxury
Hotels...The
Ritz
Carlton.
This
Tourist
Attraction
turned
out
to
be
the
best
experience
we've
had
since
arriving
40
years
ago,
and
sensational
value
for
money.
