Great place to shop if you want clothing, unique home or yard items, this is the place. Kids have a great time seeing the giant sculptures. Lots to browse, furniture, door knobs, cabinets knobs, garden decor, kitchen decor, gifts, or even a formidable dragon to scare away annoying people.

We really enjoyed stopping here on our way to Ottawa. We all had such a great time walking around and looking at all the cool designs and art pieces. The kids thought it was so cool and loved taking pictures with each sculpture. It is such a unique place. A must see!

This place is absolutely amazing. This is a must hit place while in the area. It's free to view all the sculptures. It has so many things for sale.. you will be amazed. We bought a beach sign and a 5 foot tin knight just to let you know the variety of stuff there.

Do yourself a favor and take a road trip to visit Primitive Designs in Port Hope. There's a lot to see and it's very close to the 401. This place calls itself a gift shop but it's THE most eclectic gift shop I've ever seen! There's so much to see as you drive into the property. On the outside of the store there are huge metallic dinosaur sculptures. If those don't impress you then maybe the Transformers will. Inside the store you'll find a lot of wooden carvings, paintings, trinkets, and some clothing items. From small items to huge pieces there's so much to see and purchase. I don't know if this is a gift shop or a tourist destination but regardless, I want to go back and spend a lot of time taking everything in.

Really cool place to visit! I wish they had more little knick knacks. We like buying fridge magnets when we visit a new place as a souvenir but they didn't have anything like that. They did have a lot of wooden sculptures that were very fairly priced!

The stuff here is simply amazing, one of a kind. Definitely worth a visit for anyone in the area. Lot of great stuff to buy, but the display is simply stunning. There is no entrance fees so please do donate or buy product to support, they deserve it.

Imagine a large large barn filled with amazing knick knacks. Curios and stuff from all over the world ! Glass bowls and stuff from Bali, elephant head carvings from Indonesia, amazing iron artwork. Just loved it Especially Spiderman petched on a container If you have kids with you, you'll spend the day here and still find it difficult to leave !!! NO entry fees. Be nice and leave a contribution to help with the upkeep A not to miss visit

I'm shocked I hadn't ever heard of Primitive Designs before... I'd honestly label this shop as a destination point within Ontario. The shop is laid out over a fairly large property, the larger art pieces on display outside and some are interactive like the Game of Thrones iron throne, Transformers... Like 20ft tall Optimus Prime! There's a pretty decent amount of parking, you drive through the middle of the property to get to it. While a lot of the metalwork pieces are made by their artists, they offer a huge selection of everything from cabinet handles, paintings, clothing, fixtures, models and varying art pieces from international sources. Primitive Designs is way larger than we expected and we probably spent nearly an hour exploring the outside lot, multi-level inside buildings and conversing with other tourists. Some of the prices were shockingly better than expected-- we'll be back to make a few purchases on the smaller metalworks! Overall, Primitive Designs is such a unique place and I can't recommend enough spending the time to check it out yourself.

This is an incredibly magical place, full of lovely items that bring out the child. The staff is professional and kind, warm and friendly. However, while I was there I heard some guy playing an instrument. With his mouth. Luckily, the staff shut that down. Don’t be like that guy; be a decent person.

This place is absolutely unbelievable! A must-see if you're driving by the area. We stopped in on our way back to Montreal from Toronto; it's right near the highway. My friend and I toured it like a museum for an hour and a half, and we would've stayed longer if we hadn't been on a schedule. Incredible art pieces, functional pieces, home & garden decor, and even a smaller (but full) section of accessories and clothing. Go for the increeeedible sights, leave with things in your budget - or unique works of art you'll find nowhere else. An amazing showcase of human creativity and ingenuity. We will be back! Surprise bonus: cows, chickens and a beautiful rooster in a pasture & enclosure by the parking lot!

Every time I come here, I feel like a child in a mystical place where all these heroes, made of metal, wood, clay and whatever you want, come to life. And I always go out with a purchase for my garden, home, for friends. Even if you are not looking for "primitive" decor, I recommend visiting just for fun.

This place was really cool to check out. Really neat sculptures, art and products. If you're looking for a unique gift or something for your own home highly recommend. We picked one of their cactuses and can't wait to display it.

Love this store so much, but make sure you take TIME to visit. I walked through it twice and I'll guarantee that I missed a lot (even look at the ceilings!!) The staff are very knowledgeable about the products and you can tell they have love for the store as well. The young lady in the crystal section especially was very helpful My only regret was that I didn't have enough room in the car to take everything home I needed

OMG!! AMAZING PLACE!!! There is something for everyone here. Everything is made already or you can buy items to create your own masterpiece. There's furniture, clothing, jewelry, home decor, garden decor, sculptures, paintings, carvings and soooo much more!! Giant life sized replicas in metal like dinosaurs, transformers, aquatic life and more too!!

All I can say is WOW! This is definitely a place you will want to visit for items both small and large. The large scale models made from parts was amazing!!! I will certainly be ordering online from them!

You have to visit this hidden gem tucked away 5 minutes North of the 401 (exit Port Hope). Please include this visit amongst your trips. I cannot even begin to explain how much talent lies within these walls. If I had some big coin, I think that I would have bought the humongous wooden lizard for my front lawn!

Great place to stop or shop. The sculptures are very impressive. There are also a lot of really neat and unique garden and home decor pieces. Absolutely worth the detour.

Cool, eclectic, surprising and different. Take your kids there for sure. There are gigantic statues made of metal in the shape of robots & creatures, great clothing, decorations and furniture. I’ve been there quite a few times now and there is always something new to discover. Makes for a great attraction too if you have friends or family visiting in the area. Even the mannequins are funky!

This place is just incredible. So much to see it's hard to believe. Found so many otiginal pieces here, i wish i could buy all the things i liked. So many creative and unique pieces of art, woodwork, sculptures, metal art and yard decor. I recommend everyone to stop by and visit if driving by on the 401.

Pro: unique and eclectic art and statuary Con: too much of the inventory is left exposed to the elements (which is a shame) and pricing doesn't reflect this fact. If they invested in some new shelters, and cleaned up the inventory it would really go far to enhance the experience and might actually generate some more sales.

😐 Nice little walk along the path and into town. The parking listed on Google Maps is for the fish ladder by the highway; I would recommend turning the opposite way onto Cavan street and looking for parking along the river.
