My review is for the brunch at the Jefferson hotel on Sunday. The Jefferson is a grand and beautiful place, and the decor is simply fabulous. However, while the food was pretty good, the service was not up to par, and I took real exception to the final bill. I went online before we went to brunch to read about it. It States clearly on their website that for brunch, a 20% gratuity is included as well as a 13% tax. When we received the bill, it had the total, with no notation of the already included 20% tip and the 13% tax. There was, however, a line for a tip. Now if you didn’t know that a 20% tip was already included, you would be inclined to leave yet another tip. This bill should be delineated by line to show that a 20% tip and the 13% tax had already been added. So shame on the Jefferson for it’s less than honest final bill for Sunday brunch.

We had the seared scallops and pork chop entrees; both were amazing. From cocktails and the risotto appetizer through dessert (pistachio salsify cake), everything was expertly crafted, prepared and presented. Each bite was a flavorful treat! Delicious and inspired menu. Menu changes seasonally. Venue is beautiful. Service is top notch.

Amazing, beautiful, historic, grand hotel situated in an old, established neighborhood near downtown Richmond! Absolutely gorgeous. The building and grounds steeped in history. When you step into the beautiful, ornate lobby you feel instantly transported back in time. My visit to this wonderful hotel was purely by accident; my colleague and I had lunch at a nearby Cafe and during our walk back to the Graduate Hotel ( the hotel where we were guests) we found the amazing Jefferson Hotel and decided to take a quick peek inside. My colleague and I, unfortunately, did not have the opportunity to be a guest at the Jefferson nor did we visit or observe the private guestrooms. However, my colleague and I were simply astonished with the magnificent architecture and decor in the lobby, registration area and adjacent common areas. I have no doubt the guestrooms and other hotel amenities are just as splendid! The large, grand staircase is a must see! Located on the lower level, in the corner of a large, open common area you will find a small, but very interesting "mini" museum containing fantastic memobelia and photos of the hotel's history. Although I was not fortunate to be registered guests of The Jefferson Hotel, I was fortunate to visit the common areas of this magnificent hotel. Perhaps in the future, I will be a registered guest at the Jefferson. I totally recommend visiting this exceptional hotel! If you enjoy and desire grand, luxury accommodations in a hotel rich with history and fame, The Jefferson Hotel is a MUST!!

Absolutely stunning! I’ve stayed in the best places around the world…. This is by far one of the best places. Their staff is excellent and accommodating in every way! Five stars isn’t enough! The food is impeccable and the room is eloquent.

Service at The Jefferson is excellent from the moment they see you drive up. Everyone is friendly and thoroughly professional. We were greeted by valets, bell hops, then the concierge with smiles and anticipation to make us comfortable. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The bathroom is large with a comfortable bathtub. Decor throughout is elegant, historic and interesting. Lemaire has a delicious menu. I come from oyster country and found the southern ones as good as our server recommended. Walking around the hotel is inviting; I wish I could have stayed longer.

Our family had the opportunity to visit the Jefferson Hotel for Holiday Tea in December of 2022. 5-star service, food and ambience indeed! Our server, Mr. RJ was one of the best servers I have ever had the pleasure of dining with. Our children loved the decorations and the food/tea/hot chocolate! Highly recommended!

Amazing historical landmark hotel in downtown Richmond. Absolutely worth it even just to go to dinner, have some drinks, or do a holiday or Sunday brunch meal. Make sure to have reservations for the meals, otherwise you may not get a table. The building is stunning. The appetizers at the Lemaire restaurant were just delicious. I would recommend the deviled eggs… the were incredible.

Returned to Richmond to travel and just had to eat at the Jefferson on two consecutive nights. We had seafood on both nights and it was absolutely delicious as usual. Used to live in Richmond and ate their approximately once per week and we were so excited to return and enjoy the impeccable service, food and drink. The bar personnel is so friendly and make you feel at home. Thai and Greg are the absolute best.

We just stopped in for a brief tour and visit. What a grand, old place. Very impressive. Thought about having dinner there that evening... but sadly did not. Great little historical wing with information about the hotel throughout the years. Lavish interior and quite amazing.

Amazing location! The architecture is stunning and the rooms are phenomenal. The atmosphere at Lemaire was great (the bar had excellent selection of beverages) - food was good, but not exceptional. Will definitely stay there again!

We had an excellent time staying here. We were in town for our corporate holiday party which was hosted at the hotel. The room service was exceptional, the rooms were clean and spacious and the hotel itself was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Their was no detail missed in our customer service during our stay, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us in ways we did not even know we would enjoy! It was really an awesome experience all around I would absolutely go back and stay again!

We had our work Christmas party here and it was so beautiful! We had a room to ourselves. There was an omlette bar, carving station, and a variety of other breakfast items and sweets. The gingerbread house display was amazing. I recommend just popping in for a look around at the very least some time. It's so worth it at the holidays!

Service was great. Rooms were lacking. I did a survey and advised that I could send pictures of what I was providing feedback about however no one has contacted me. Providing pictures of rooms here. For what paid for the room, expected furniture and walls to be in good condition and it was far from it. Tables in bad shape, scrapes on wall, dirty knife in drawer of a table. Didnt look like floors had been vacuumed in a while. While the decorations were beautiful, more attention in the rooms is needed. Valet parking is very overpriced. When staying as overnight guests, parking should be discounted. Service at the holiday brunch was great.

We didn't stay there but had drinks. The place is beautiful. Rooms (of people in our family) were immaculate and spacious. Christmas decorations are worth a visit if nothing else.

The Jefferson is ornate, stunning and historical but it has been the staff/ service that makes it extraordinary. From the bell hop (I believe his name was Allan) who greeted us with a warm smile and conversation and genuinely loves this job and the hotel. We took advantage of same day dry cleaning services which was amazing. We also took advantage of room service which was above and beyond. The rooms are incredible and updated (tv in bathroom mirror ?!) despite it still having a historical feel. We haven’t even left yet but I have been blown away by our first day here and needed to share.

The Jefferson Hotel is definitely 5 stars. From the time my wife and I pulled up to Valet Park until we checked out, the service was great. The staff was polite and professional. The food was amazing. Our accommodations were immaculate. We attended the spa, and the service was really great. I highly recommend my family and friends to visit The Jefferson Hotel. It is truly 5 stars.

I checked into the hotel with a group of five other guess. I requested a feather free room due to my severe allergies (this request was submitted in advance of my arrival). I have been waiting in the lobby now for over an hour while the other guests I traveled with were immediately provided rooms. I checked back with the desk clerk and she kept saying "check-in isn't until 4 PM". Meanwhile more guest are checking it and being provided rooms immediately! I spoke with the concierge and the manager on duty. Absolutely no help! I would leave if I wasn't here with other colleagues. Very unpleasant experience! I would definitely not recommend this hotel!!!

Delightful Champagne Christmas Brunch with Santa. Delicious variety of breakfast and lunch/dinner choices. Our waiter Jayden was excellent; efficient, personable and knowledgeable. The beautiful Christmas decorations in this stunning hotel, good food and attentive staff made today a holiday event to remember.

The hotel shines like a jewel in the heart of Richmond. I thought the opulence of the entryway, along with the small museum showcasing the history of the building were well worth the look. We came in for tea which we reserved 4 months in advance for Valentine's weekend. The tea was pleasant and the ambiance was particularly upscale. Wait staff wear masks which was appreciated! We were told that wait staff isn't allowed to take pictures, the hostess also declined. No problem. The dill and cucumber sandwich didn't really feature any dill and was watery. The spinach tomato wrap was dry and cakes were pretty basic. The sandwiches with ham were afterthoughts, why not add a mustard on that? You nailed the chicken salad and the savory scones were fantastic. We were told that everything is made in house which I can see, but the execution on the sandwiches needs work. 3/5.

Here for our wedding anniversary. The place is packed all evening long. You can’t enjoy the beauty of the hotel because of the sheer number of people in the lobby. If you’re looking for a quiet weekend away, go elsewhere! You spend 1k on accommodations and get pushed aside by people transiting the hotel to see the lights or private parties that take up half the lobby!

After living in Richmond about 30 years, I finally returned and was able to stay at the Jefferson for the first time. Wow!! It was worth it all. We just got back from staying at some crazy nice places across Europe and we agreed that the Grand Premier Room beat them all. More comfortable, great space, loved the design, incredible room, awesome staff, great experience - all around our favorite place in many years. I can't wait to return to Richmond so we can do it again. We also did the Sunday brunch. You have GOT to add it in. I doubt I would do it again, but I have no regrets doing it once. Pro tip: there are tons of food stations. Don't get in a long slow line. Just move to a different area and come back. There is so much awesome food, why waste your time when you can be enjoying time with your friends.

A fancy exterior with not much content Feels like a 3.5 star hotel in many ways. Location: 4.5. Outlook: 5. Room: 5 However, if you pay close attention then you gonna realize many things went wrong. First, AC and light in bathroom can only last for 10 mins for each manual activation. No idea why this is the case, but terrible customer experience when I was using bathroom. Limited facility and need proper maintenance such as pool. Drinks are generally terrible but the breakfast are decent.

Visited Richmond for a few days and chose the Jefferson on the advice of family. Glad we did. It's a historic grand hotel. While hotels near freeway exits serve a purpose, a hotel like the Jefferson reminds why staying at a grand hotel will never go away. In addition to the beautiful spaces, the staff are professional, helpful and kind. The rooms are very nice, equipped with a mini fridge, coffee maker & totally unexpected TV embedded in the bathroom mirror and when not on, looked a mirror (pictured). Frankly I could care less about a TV in the bathroom but it's clever regardless. You feel welcome and comfortable even surrounded such elaborate decor. This is the hotel I will stay every time I visit Richmond.

Came for Sunday brunch to celebrate my good friends survival of her 2nd battle of breast cancer. Ambiance is gorgeous. The food looked & tasted just as good. And the endless mimosas....perfect!Our table attendant Rob was the greatest! Looking forward to going again

We had a fabulous time. Our Thanksgiving was outstanding. Our server Ben was the most accommodating and professional. The matre'de found us a seat as their tables were all full. My husband says it was the best service we have received since we met six years ago. Thank you to the wonderful greeting and all staff that made our Thanksgiving special. Happy Holidays

I think your credit score increases by 50 points when you enter this place. It’s probably the richest, most elegant, establishment I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting! The atmosphere was mesmerizing! This hotel actually is a 5 DIAMOND hotel!!! The food was exactly what you’d expect from a hotel of this caliber, flawless! and I’d personally recommend the Lemaire Burger, it was delicious, I also wanted to note that the staff was WORLD CLASS!!! Very friendly, and quite helpful!

My mom and wife and I went to the Sunday Brunch after waiting for it to reopen from COVID. We finally got a reservation 2 months out. We were all extremely excited due to the reputation of the famous brunch. In our opinion,, the food was mediocre at best. Nothing on the brunch was over the top in any way. All I could get out of the entire experience was that it was extremely overpriced for the quality received. The gravy for the biscuits was a watery mess. It had obviously broken somewhere in the cooking process but served anyway. I felt we could have gotten brunch anywhere in the city for half the price and better culinary showmanship. We won't be back due to a plethora of other options. Very unhappy.

My daughter & I went to Afternoon Hi Tea! Excellent place for all types of special occasions. Ours was to celebrate my daughter's birthday!! From entering the hotel, having Hi Tea, taking pictures etc etc, our overall experience was very positive!! Everything was done in excellence!! Staff very friendly and nice! Delicious drinks n foodies! Ambience was impressive & over the top! I would highly recommend this place to everyone to experience The Jefferson's Culture of Excellence!! Kudos to the leadership of this hotel!!

Opened in 1895, Jefferson hotel is a very nice historical building with charming interiors. The rooms are very spacious, the bed is comfortable, bathroom is also spacious with a nice bathtub. Love the special compartment for storing luggage & ample space for wardrobe. Lemaire restaurant has very delicious food though a bit pricey. Hotel staff are polite & attentive.

Historic hotel with extremely beautiful interior decorations. Even if you don’t stay at the hotel the lobby is worth a visit just to look around. Rooms are smaller old style hotel, but not a problem. The bathrooms are completely renovated. Breakfast can be included in room packages and are well worth it while sitting in the atrium. The hotel is pricey, but it is an experience unlike any other hotel in Richmond. Staff was very friendly and professional.

Review is only for a site seeing visit. This historic hotel is definitely worth the visit. The interior is just magnificent and reminiscent of that old style historic feel. The center piece when you enter is the grand staircase. It does not disappoint. Take some time and stroll the main lobby area and alcoves. They also have a nice restaurant ("Lamaire") for lunch, dinner or just drinks/cocktails.

Beautiful historic hotel. Gorgeously decorated for Christmas. Staff were friendly and the room was quiet, spacious and very comfortable. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was accommodating to my husband and I who are both vegetarians. There was one delicious vegetarian entree and they were able to make an appetizer of sunchoke risotto into another entree so we didn't have to order the same entree. Cocktail selection was nice.

The afternoon chocolate tea was amazing. Plenty of food for two people and a great selection of tasty treats. Our waiter was very attentive and answered all of our questions. I received a special treat for my birthday, which was a surprise. The hotel is gorgeous and they have lots of antiques and memorabilia that you can see. Everyone was very friendly.
