This is a must visit place in Petersburg. Adult entry fee is $10, free for kids under 12. You will get a very detailed guided tour for around an 30-60 mins, worth it. Inside the building it's marvelous, great mansion, artistic.

Building is absolutely wonderful from the outside. Love the architecture. But unfortunately the museum itself was closed. On the left side, where tour entrance is, there is a note that tours only done on 2 weeks prior appointment since 4th of June this year. Wish that info was available on website too, but it was not. Nevertheless, town of Petersburg is nice.

I love this architectural gem in Petersburg. This was my 3rd or 4th visit in as many decades. Originally built in the Federal style with many Greek revival alterations, it is an explosion of architectural detail. Convenient on-site parking and good descriptions from our guide. Lincoln was here as well as John Tyler and others. Well worth a visit for the history & architecture buffs.

Excellent historic mansion!πŸ‘ŒMr. Brian Silver gave a fine tour of the mansion for 1 hour. Lot of history, lifestyle of noble families, ghost stories will entertain you! President Lincoln visited this mansion! Worth $10 fee! I recommend this for a visit while you're in town πŸ˜€

It was an awesome tour. It was very informative and gave a good insight on how the upperclass of Petersburg lived and how they employed the people around. It also gave an illustration of how business at that time was conducted and how it transformed through different parts of time. My entire family enjoyed it. I brought my seven-year-old and she asked the most questions!

I visited during the week so wasn't able to go in the museum, but very cool from the outside. There is a nice park out in front. Not sure where I was supposed to park.

It was mostly great except for some inappropriate behavior of some volunteers.

This is one of my favorite places to tour but I came all the way from Norfolk and it is locked up. On line it is open and there is no holiday. No one is picking up the phone at 2 after 3 pm Saturday. Very discouraged since we do not get to come up here as often as we would like.

The architecture is exquisite. I love the history of old buildings. Tyler, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and able to answer questions from our group. If you're in Petersburg, VA., it's worth a visit.

We toured Centre Hill on Sunday. Tyler gave an excellent tour. The mansion is awesome with 3 styles of architecture and 220 years of history. Period & original furnishings are there, plus costumes from Mercy Street which was partially filmed there. Well worth visiting.

The day after my wedding, my husband, best friend, and her boyfriend were looking for something low key to do in the area before dropping them off at Richmond airport. The four of us were practically delirious with exhaustion from the day before and not sure what to expect from this tour that came up when we googled β€œthings to do in Petersburg.” It ended up being really lovely!! The house is beautiful and our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and came across as genuinely interested in the history of the house and its inhabitants. We weren’t very interesting guests, I’m afraid, but very much enjoyed ourselves. Our only complaint is the cursory attention to the enslaved workers on the estate in the antebellum period, although we understand that specific information on that subject is likely extremely scarce. Still, a general history of the experiences of enslaved people in the Petersburg area at the time would have been really interesting. Overall, I would definitely recommend this tour if you enjoy architecture, 19th century micro-histories, or want to know more about the history of the Petersburg, VA area.
