Even though it was too brief, this was one of the most memorable stays I've ever enjoyed. Craig was such a welcoming host from the very first moment, as well as the rest of the staff and the little tabby cat George. The beauty of the building is just insane; you feel instantly transported to another world. The rooms were incredible (we chose the Thomas Bond, Jr. Suite), their history beautifully maintained without sacrificing on more modern comfort. There were wine and cookies in the evenings, and the delicious breakfast (hot on weekends) was such a plus with a full day ahead. We came to Philly planning mostly to eat out and about, and the breakfast really held its own to the rest of the food we ate in town. We were treated like guests even after checking out, leaving our luggage while we explored for the day and even enjoying some wine and cookies for a bit before leaving to catch our evening train. Really such an old-school sense of hospitality to complete the package. Philly was already one of my favorite cities, and I can't wait to go back, but now I know that I couldn't possibly stay anywhere other than the Thomas Bond House. Thanks, Craig! 10/10.

If you reading this review...stop doing research and book your stay at the Thomas Bond House already!!! Every aspect was perfect. The house is beautiful, location is near perfect, and you will love the level care delivered by Craig and his team. I have traveled to Philadelphia extensively over the past 12 years and I regret this was my first time staying here....It will now be my first choice every visit.

Had a fantastic stay at the TBH. The hot breakfast on weekends was so freaking good! Completely cookies and wine in the afternoon as well. Location was also very nice if you want to see historic Philly and if not, there is a septa station just up the road giving you convenient access to most of the city.

We are so glad that we stayed at the Thomas Bond House while in Philadelphia. The bed and breakfast is in a perfect location. We were able to easily walk to Independence Hall, the American Revolution Museum, Betsy Ross House and Penn Landing. The team at the Thomas Bond House was so accommodating letting us drop our luggage off while we went site seeing on the afternoon we arrived and let us leave it behind for about an hour so we could check out a couple more places before we left Philadelphia. They were also accommodating for our Gluten Free needs for evening cookies and breakfast. We stayed in the Elizabeth Benson Chew Bond room. It was large enough for our family of 3. George (the cat) visited with us down in the parlor a couple of times too. Thanks for a great stay!

Lovely stay, lovely staff! We stayed in the Thomas Bond Jr room - so pretty and comfortable. The wine at night was very nice after a long day. The whole inn is beautiful and close to everything you would want to see, and if it’s not walking distance, it’s still close enough for a quick Uber or drive. The parking deck right next door was a great thing to have. Yes, it’s all stairs, and yes the temperature fluctuates a little in the in between months, but it’s so worth it to stay somewhere so historic. Can’t wait for our next visit!

What a lovely B&B! Even before arriving, I felt welcomed with a preview email from Craig, the owner. I arrived after hours and was met with soft music playing, cookies on a tray, and water, tea, and coffee available in the dining area. The history of the home is all around, but it's not stuffy or uncomfortable--my room was quiet and cozy, and the common sitting room was inviting. The location is perfect--right next to the parking garage, and within walking distance of historic sites, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. I will definitely be returning!

Thomas Bond House is a wonderful hotel located in an 18-th century house. The room we had was very small but full of character and more than sufficient for our short stay. The location is perfect, in the very heart of the historic part of the city. The cleanliness is up to the strictest standards, and so are the services provided. We felt very welcome and at home. Our stay was over a weekend so we had the advantage of an absolutely delicious hot, beautifully prepared breakfast. The bed was very comfortable, and the same can definitely be said overall of our stay at Thomas Bond House. Thank you!

Stayed at the Thomas Bond House on February 4 on our trip to Philly to visit our daughter. What a wonderful place. Like stepping back in time in comfort. Such an authentic 18th century feel. Craig the host was fantastic. Breakfast was delicious in the "period" dining room. Great location in "old town" Philly. This will definitely be our go-to place when visiting Philly.

This bed and breakfast is so charming! It is at a great location in historic down town, and is right beside a parking deck. Our room was clean and cozy, and breakfast was delicious. The Innkeeper, Liz, was very hospitable and friendly. Will definitely be visiting again!

We enjoyed our stay at the Thomas Bond House. The location was perfect for walking to historic sites (~15 min walk). There is a parking lot right next to the building, which was cheaper than some other garages downtown, so we kept the car parked and walked everywhere. It's also only ~30 min walk to Reading Terminal Market, which is great if you want to walk off all the delicious food you'll be eating there :) There is also a bike rental station right next to the building, so you can choose to ride around the area instead of walking. The staff were nice and the breakfast was pretty good. During the week you get a Continental plus breakfast, which was cereal, fruit, yogurt, assorted pastries/breads, tea, coffee, juice, milk. I didn't leave hungry. They also have wine in the afternoon and cookies in the evening. Our room was small, but had everything we needed. There were a few things in the room that needed repair, but it didn't affect our stay. The bed was comfortable. Be aware that there could be many stairs to climb to get to your room, depending on which floor you're on. We stayed on the 3rd floor, which I could see being a problem for someone with bad knees. The area is quiet at night and seemed safe. The doors are locked at all times, but you get a key card when you check in, so you can come and go as you please. I would stay here again. You can't beat the price for the location.

My husband and I have stayed at the Thomas Bond House on two occasions in 2023. Both visits were wonderful. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The house is beautiful and our room was clean and comfortable. We will continue to make this B&B our go to whenever we’re in Philly.

This house was built before the nation was born, and yet it is in remarkable condition - it’s like taking a step back 250 years. It is located within an easy distance, mostly walkable, to the best I Philadelphia has to offer, especially historical interests. There are two innkeepers here, Liz and Nature, to answer your every question, make sure your needs are met, and make sure you have an outstanding breakfast. Both of these ladies are very professional and they make you feel very, very welcome. The Thomas Bond house is the place to stay. In Philadelphia. Definitely will return.

We spent some wonderful days in Phili and in The Thomas Bond House especially. Liz and Nature are wonderful hosts and made our stay a beautiful experience we will never forget. Upon arrival we were offered a glass of wine, the rooms are cozy and perfect and very comfortable. The whole Thomas Bond house is left in the old style and gives you this incredible experience as it must have been back then. In the evening we were spoiled with a small dessert, in the morning the continental breakfast is perfect and the quiche served by Liz at the weekend is lovely. We thank Liz and Nature for the wonderful hospitality. Those who want to experience history and hospitality in Phili, the Thomas Bond House is a must.

A beautiful B&B in such a close walking distance to the historic sites in Philadelphia. I wish we had more then one night for this trip but it was absolutely worth it. Definitely want to make it back for a long weekend trip.

The absolute best stay my boyfriend and I have ever experienced! We were in town for a wedding and found this place near by. The service was exceptional, the room was super comfortable and relaxing. The area was very convenient to several popular restaurants and bars. It was birthday the day we checked in, they acknowledge my birthday and even accepted flowers that a friend of mine ordered that was delivered before we arrived. Breakfast was amazing over the weekend, complimentary snacks at night. Overall, the best place we've ever stayed. For our first time ever staying at a bed & breakfast, this was the best time we've had. We look forward to staying again in the future ever time we visit.

The Inn is lovely and in a great location. We had only a couple of issues/concerns/observations: as 2 older folks, the stairs were bit more than we like to navigate. Our breakfast ( on a Thursday) morning, was not a pleasant experience. The food plates were empty and we finally had to ask a young woman in the kitchen to refill the empties, which she less-than-pleasantly did. Our concern lies in the entry to our room, it was a two step process, hanging key in and then turn the knob. As someone with an arm in a cast, that was impossible for me. These concerns aside, it is a lovely place to stay, but maybe just not for us older folks.

Do NOT stay at this place! Terrible experience! We felt traumatized, unsafe, and threatened at this establishment. We had a horrible experience with new Innkeeper Liz! After she checked us in we went out for the evening. While we were out she realized that she put us in the wrong room, then violated our privacy by gathering most of our belongings and moving us to a different room! When we returned we repeatedly asked (text & voice calls) for help to get the rest of our belongings but she didn’t respond. In the hall in the morning we ran into the couple in our previous room and they got our belongings for us. Shortly after that Liz directed us to pack our belongings and vacate or she would call the police! When we asked why, once again she did not answer. Wow. Just…wow. We’re trying to get a refund but there appears to be no accountability as it’s owned by the park service but the Innkeeper is the only recourse we’ve found. The whole incident was exceptionally traumatic and unnerving. We've stayed here several times before while Craig was the innkeeper, always with pleasant results. Liz was extremely unprofessional and handled this situation horribly – we’ll never stay here again. We’re 64 years old and have travelled extensively and can honestly say that we’ve never experienced anything like this.

The Thomas Bond House is a wonderful B&B experience. The location in the middle of the old town is perfect for anyone wishing to explore Philadelphia. The historic house is renovated to give you modern comfort but with a genuine colonial feel. But the greatest draw for this B&B is the Innkeeper, Craig. His warm and enthusiastic greeting makes you feel welcomed - he pampers you with wine and cookies and the breakfast is very satisfying. Definitely full value for the money paid!

After a year of traveling from NJ to Vegas and back this was definitely the best lodging vacation experience of all . Kind hip professional staff welcomes you immediately into a historic landmark that’s cozy bed and breakfast. From there you are perfectly near the historic museum district with amazing bars and cafes in stones throw . Would go back again ! Parking is in garage and it’s tricky getting into right entrance but is like all hotels in Phillie and right next to hotel .

We visited for three nights. The house is kept in original style with modern comfort, you feel like you are swept back in a long gone era. The landlord Craig and his “mouseteer” Georgie were the best!! They made us feel like the “masters of the house” and were very helpful with deciding where and when to go or what to see first. All the historical sites are within comfortable walking distance. A must go place.

We LOVED our stay at Thomas Bond House! What a cool and unique little spot to stay while visiting Philadelphia. We felt that the room and bathroom were on the smaller side, but with all the extra amenities (e.g., homemade cookies, breakfast, wine happy hour, etc.), we really didn't mind. Craig, the innkeeper, was extremely hospitable and charismatic. He had so much knowledge of the area and great recommendations for food and attractions. Can't ask for better customer service! Also, we really loved the resident cat who was extremely friendly and sweet. If you're looking for a unique stay with great service in the heart of historic Philadelphia, this place is for you!

The staff are super friendly and conversational. They actually care about where you go and advise safe places in the city. Wonderful breakfast and very attentive. Everything is clean and well maintained. They have a little wine hour at 6 and bake cookies before bed. Super close to Independence Hall and restaurants. Next time I’m back in Philly I’m doing the same thing.

We must convert all historical houses into functional living quarters and not just a museum! Thomas Bond is the epitome of this. We enjoyed our stay. I would love to visit again (if they'd still let me). :D

We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Thomas Bond House. It's a beautiful B&B with such fun and helpful staff. It's in an amazing area within walking distance of so many historical sites. Other than staying on the 4th floor and having to go up and down those stairs (but would NOT want an elevator put in that beautiful historical building) I could not imagine a better stay. Thanks y'all!!

Charming historical house, feels so warm and inviting, and a seven minute walk to Independence Hall! Craig was welcoming and gave us some wonderful recommendations that added so much joy to our trip. The hot breakfast was delicious, Craig made us cheddar eggs and chocolate chip pancakes, along with a full spread of baked goodies and healthy options too. Had a lovely glass of wine in the beautiful sitting room reading all about the history of this ultra cool house. Can’t wait to stay here again!

Came down for my birthday weekend and everything was perfect. Super clean, warm, and inviting! Breakfast was great, and Craig made us feel so welcome, even remembering it was my birthday! I hope to come back soon!

We loved our 3 nights in Philly. This house was a perfect BNB and the history of the house made it so interesting. Looking out our window to Welcome Park and imagining who was also in the house=priceless. Craig had great suggestions for everything from sights to dinner. Thank you for everything you did for us Craig.

The Thomas Bond house is a great place to stay. The rooms were a little small as you would expect in the historic house but our room was very comfortable. The houses clean and well kept. Craig was very helpful, making suggestions on places to eat and things to do, but also but also giving us some of the history of the house. The location was excellent, with an easy walking distance of everything in the historic district and from the waterfront. We would certainly stay there again.

Staying at Thomas Bond House was my first experience at a B&B and it was outstanding! We stayed for one night in the Benjamin Franklin room and it thoroughly exceeded my expectations. We decided to stay at a B&B over a regular hotel because the pricing was comparable to any of the chain hotels in the downtown area and the photos of the rooms online looked so charming. The innkeeper, Craig, is funny, warm, and welcoming. We asked to drop off/pick up our bags outside of normal check in/out times and they were more than accommodating! Staying here feels like staying at an old friend's house, not to mention the absolutely gorgeous décor in every detail of the house! My favorite part of the stay was definitely the hot breakfast which they serve on weekends. As we came down into the dining room, the staff cooked our breakfast fresh and it was such a lovely experience. I highly recommend the French Toast if you are luck enough to stay on a morning it is served! If you are looking for a unique, personalized, lodging experience I cannot recommend Thomas Bond House highly enough!! We will definitely be staying here again the next time we visit Philly!!

I stayed here with a group of friends in July 2021. It was delightful. The rooms were comfortable and functional with a bit of period charm. Including the steep staircase that others have mentioned. The food was great--the breakfast was more than I expected. There was a particularly memorable baked french toast that I've been trying to recreate at home. The folks who staff the place are chatty and sociable, which was perfect for our group. We made liberal use of the sitting room downstairs (and the late night cookies!) and it was fun to meet other guests as they came and went. For us, the location was ideal. It was very central to many of the historic locations but just far enough off the main restaurant and bar strip that it didn't get too noisy. We never used our car for the weekend we were there. Note that we visited in a bit of a COVID lull (early July 2021) so I don't know what the current precautions are, but at the time we were there we were comfortable eating and socializing indoors without masks.

Our stay at the Thomas Bond House was delightful. The house is so nicely restored that you feel like you are stepping back in time, but with all the modern conveniences. The location is great - within an easy walk to all the Old City historic sites and to the subway to access other parts of the city. Breakfast each morning was delicious and Craig, the innkeeper, very welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. Highly recommend.

If you are thinking of booking a stay here- do it! The house itself is beautiful, clean, and in a safe area. The real draw however is the service. Craig goes above and beyond to make his guests feel like they’re home. My husband and I loved the breakfast (continental plus on the weekdays and hot breakfast on Sat and Sun), the complimentary wine hour, and the warm cookies at night. The house is in walking distance to great restaurants, pubs, and independence hall. We can’t wait to come back!

Our stay at this bed and breakfast was absolutely amazing. The location was perfect, the place was extremely neat and clean. Craig was the best! I have some dietary restrictions and he had no problem accomodating anything I needed. He was very friendly, helpful and really goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay. We will definitely be back!

From the moment my daughter and I arrived, we experienced the warmth and historic atmosphere we were looking for. We were immediately transported to 18th century Philadelphia. Location location also - so close to everything in the old city. The wonderful hospitality from Craig and the staff truly made us feel 'at home' in this historic house. The breakfast was excellent ( and the fresh baked cookies too! ). We also met some interesting travelers from Spain, England, Germany and Arizona USA. Anytime we go back to Philly, or are asked for our recommendation - it's Thomas Bond House all the way!

I celebrated my 40th Birthday in Philly and stayed here. My boyfriend and I received the warmest welcome from Craig! From there, everything was fabulous- from the wine hour, fresh baked cookies when we got in, inclusive of a birthday card and donuts/chocolate from Craig and a delicious breakfast the next morning. It was a very cozy environment and reasonably priced! I was looking for a different experience and got just that. Thank you Craig!!!

My husband Kyle Leonard and I absolutely loved staying at this beautiful B&B. We just celebrated our honeymoon in Philadelphia. We highly recommend staying here. The hospitality is wonderful. Breakfast is delicious and the our room was so beautiful and clean. Also Craig is such an amazing innkeeper and he is so kind. The staff are awesome and so helpful too. Craig also has an adorable 6 year old cat, who greets the guest. Kyle and I will definitely come back and every time we stay in Philly, this is our B&B! Love Always from Mr.& Mrs. Leonard! 🥰

We had a short but wonderful stay. All staff were incredibly warm and accommodating. The beds were cozy and the breakfast was delicious. My partner is vegan and they saved a cookie especially for her that we came back to after being out for the evening. It was very sweet!

Had an amazing stay at the Thomas Bond House. Loved everything from the decor to the accommodations to the complimentary happy hour glass of wine to the excellent coffee to the incredible baked goods and breakfast our amazing hosts Craig and Diana prepared. Nowhere we've stayed in Old City captures the historic vibe better than this place.

My wife and I spent a night at the Thomas Bond House for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We enjoyed our stay immensely and look forward to booking again. The location as well as the balance of history and amenities at the Thomas Bond House are wonderful and unique. Craig is amazing and ensured any of our needs were attended to.

Sammy and I stayed here and loved it! It's so close to everything in downtown Philadelphia. There is a large parking garage right behind it. The food was excellent, especially the fresh baked cookies in the evenings! 😋 The bedroom was cozy and had beautiful antique furniture. There is individual thermostats in each bedroom so you can set the temperature to your pleasure. I highly recommend this for a pleasant stay in Philadelphia. It's right beside the historical place where William Penn's home used to stand.

Stayed here for one night for an event on the river, and it was so beautiful. We were able to walk everywhere we needed to be. The innkeeper Nature was so pleasant and the woman making breakfast was such a friendly face first thing in the morning. The place is very homey. The stairs could be an issue if youre not prepared, but it was such a nice place and restored so skillfully. The rooms are simple and clean, no mini fridge or microwave like a hotel but they did have a TV and an ice bucket. Bathroom was spacious and clean, beds were homey and comfortable. I will definitely be staying at this little gem next time im in the city
