Update: I have been going to Phila Massage now for a few months, and I am so glad I found this place. With a really tough back injury, I need a lot of stretching, PT, and injury care. I always get Joseph! He is so friendly and is really helping me in my injury recovery journey. I highly recommend him! He really knows his stuff. All of the muscles I point to and don't know the name of, he's got it and knows exactly how to help with the pain/tension relief. A lot of my friends ask if they should get something cheaper down the road, but no! This place is totally worth it to keep your body well! Especially for active people! Thanks again guys! I went to Phila Massage because I injured my back. I went from barely able to stand up to feeling like I could actually walk normally. Best sports massage I have ever had.

I survived a marathon because of Joseph at Phila Massages! I developed IT band syndrome while training for a marathon and my doctor recommended I try sports massages in conjunction with physical therapy. It was a great pairing! I scheduled sports massages with Joseph every 10-14 days during the 6 weeks leading up to my marathon and after. Joseph consulted with me before each session and asked what my physical therapist was working on so he could target the same muscles / areas. Each session was different based on my needs. As a fair warning sports massages can be very painful if your muscles are tight and overworked. Joseph made the experience as 'relaxing' as he could, including starting with a back massage before working through the knots in my legs. I noticed a difference the day after a massage, there's no doubt I was able to run better because of Phila Massages!

Joseph R. is one heckuva sports massage therapist. I started seeing him a couple years ago as I was training for sprint triathlons. I am now recovering from meniscus surgery, starting to do 5Ks again and Joseph knows exactly what I need. He is kind, professional, funny, and a good soul. If you’re looking for a sports massage therapist in Philadelphia, look no further!

I’ve been seeing Joseph for a few months now and I can confirm - all the reviews of him are true! He’s the only one I’ve seen for the past few months. His specialization in anatomy and kinesiology shows in how much he takes his time to deeply reach muscles you never knew you had (and sometimes wish would disappear). Don’t get it twisted, if your muscles are anything like mine, you will be uncomfortable (or maybe more than that) but you’ll walk out feeling like a new human. Joseph is funny, kind, and intent on ensuring you feel better after the massage. If I could rate him higher, I would!

Joseph is absolutely the best sports massage therapist I’ve ever had. He is also a fun guy & fun to chat with! I have decades of sport injuries to my shoulders & IT bands. Joseph’s knowledge & experience really made the difference in identifying problem areas. He works attentively to relieve the tightness through a variety of techniques. This is not a woo-woo massage. If you are an athlete & struggle with injury or sport related mobility & pain- book Joseph.

Life-changing. I'm almost reluctant to add my voice to all the others because I don't want his schedule to get all booked out for months, but Joseph is possibly an actual god? I had a traumatic spinal injury as a teen, and through PT and staying active have been lucky to have a fairly high level of functionality, but have lived with pretty intense chronic pain ever since. My first session with Joseph, I went in because my back had seized up worse than it had in years. I felt afterwards like I'd been in a brawl, but I was astonished by how much mobility I had recovered. I just went in for my second session to see if we could address the remaining stiffness and pain, and already I just feel such an unfamiliar sense of my body being a place that... could be a nice place to live, actually? Truly mind-bending. Cannot recommend him enough; will absolutely be lobbying for a statue of him to be given pride of place next to Rocky; Joseph Rahman is the hero this city needs.

Phila massages is AMAZING. I’ve been seeing Joseph for a few months now and plan to go regularly from now on. He is highly knowledgeable, very personable and really tailors the experience to your needs. He is also there to give advice and has significantly reduced my muscle pains due to exercise / stiffness. Highly recommend and ask for Joseph!

This was my first massage. I was a little taken aback by the unfinished parts of the building but ignore it. Joseph is great!

Joseph is great! He’s also a very nice person. I always leave feeling better. I have also noticed my body feels more fresh for competition since I’ve started coming monthly. He is very strong so be communicative of what you need.

Total game-changing experience! I was referred to Joseph by my neighbor who shared that Joseph has changed his life. Well he was right. I have only had 2 90-minute sessions at this point, but I can feel the difference. I have severe arthritis and spinal stenosis in my neck as well as severe TMJ. Joseph's technique hurt like hell but totally worth it as I have felt relief for the first time in over a year. He even spent an extra 30+ minutes on me at my last appointment because he said he needed the time. He didn't charge me for the extra time. He is a true professional and incredibly caring. Yep - expect pain, but also expect relief and progress!
