I had an amazing experience at this restaurant - it truly gave me an old-school Italian vibe. I highly recommend making a reservation to avoid a long wait, as it's a popular spot. The waitstaff were all incredibly talented and added to the ambiance by singing opera while we enjoyed our fantastic dinners. The pasta specials were phenomenal, and the cocktails were also top-notch. The only downside was parking - it's a bit of a challenge in the area, so be prepared to search for metered parking. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable South Philly experience. Food. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Quantity ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Price. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

These Italian seafood devours come from the famous Philadelphia landmarks @victorcafe in south philly! The history behind this place is that it stared in every ROCKY Movie. On the weekends, every server is a certified opera singer and they sing every 30 mins. While here I ordered the “dido et Aeneas” shrimp and scallops in garlic, butter, lemon, and white wine broth. This dish was absolutely phenomenal. The shrimps and scallops with huge and tasteful. The broth was excellent and extremely good. Of u ever find yourself in the south Philadelphia area and wanting some authentic Italian? Please check out @victorcafe and tell them shimmy shinzo sent you! #italianfood #italy🇮🇹 #shrimp #scallops #wine #seafood #food #foodie #foodphotography #foodblogger #philly #philadelphia #resturants

I looked at all the reviews from Google and TripAdvisor to get the best spot for my parents and I to go for dinner while on vacation in Philadelphia. The Victor Cafe was selected for good reviews and the Rocky connection. I knew about the Opera but didn't know that every server was an opera singer. It was really impressive because they would ring the bell and then a server would give a summary of the piece they were going to perform. Really impressive. Okay, now about the food. You start off with bread, which was good, and a pesto dipping sauce. I then had the Victor Salad for an appetizer, which was fresh, and tasty. For an entrée I had the spaghetti rusticana, which had a meatballs and sausage over spaghetti with marinara sauce. I also had garlic mashed potatoes. For a dessert I had the cannoli, which was very good. My mother had the pork chop with the apricot brandy sauce, which was very sweet. It tasted good with the pork chop and on my potatoes. My dad had the eggplant rigatoni, which I had some of and was great. Overall, for me, this is a must try, not just for the food but for the history and the experience.

This place deserved a review. I was so excited to eat here. Someone had recommended it because I love Opera and have never seen anyone sing it live. Yesterday was my Birthday 🎂 and let me just say I did not have a good day. My reservations for 3 ended up being only me. So I was a little down when I arrived. I spent the first 15 minutes of my time talking on the phone about what I had went through that day. So when I was seated I wasn't really present. I put my phone down to hear the first waitress sing behind the make shift screen that was up I'm assuming because of Covid restrictions. That's when I clicked in. I started looking around at all the beautiful photos and warm ambience of the restaurant. It felt like I was in a small town in Italy somewhere. The music filled my ears and called a peace from deep down in me. I watched the faces of the customers so lovingly engaged with their families and like myself lost in the music. My waitress recommended an appetizer and I picked the mussels in white sauce and main course of pork chop with garlic mashed potatoes and apples. The food was delicious. My waitress switched my table for me so that I could get a better view of the performances which where around the corner from my table. I wish I had known about this place prepandemic so that I could see the waitresses walking around while singing. The building really is charming they offer valet parking out front so I didn't have to walk in the heat with high heels. There is dining out front under romantic lights the upstairs where the bathrooms are located has a separate dining area it's really nice up there and a small bar. Down stairs has 3 different dining area and bar. The other customers where so friendly that I didn't feel alone getting happy birthdays from so many people. I believe it was because of the atmosphere of the restaurant. The staff was so warm welcoming and talented. I can't remember my waitresses name but she was a beautiful curvy woman with curly hair. Her voice moved me most of all that night. Before I left she brought me a cup of whipped cream with a candle with my dessert (chocolate cake). Thank you Victors. For a great night. Worth money for a delicious meal and talented staff. My tiny thing I wish is that there was a little bit more light for picture taking lol. I wanted to get some really nice photos but below are a few.

I wish I got to Philadelphia more often. It’s been 20 years since I’ve dined at The Victor Cafe. The food and staff are exceptional. If anything it might be better than I remember. Walnut truffle ravioli and Pinot noir!!! To die for.

Everything was perfect here. The opera singers were great. Everyone was so friendly and the food was delicious. It exceeded my expectations. Everyone liked the food. The restaurant is very quaint, and I think it is a gem. If I lived closer, I would stop by regularly. I love this place. I had a small wedding rehearsal dinner here. It was very memorable, and I'm so happy I went there. They were really nice about the photographer taking pictures. I hope it'll be here for more generations to come. Will definitely return when I'm in the city

The waiters singing opera were absolutely lovely! The food was divine!!! The server was good and personable. The lounge upstairs was sweet. The two new bathrooms were bright, clean, and updated. The older bathroom was large but a bit dingy and needs to be updated. If you come in while waiters are singing, expect to wait (in silence) to be seated until they are finished. We will be coming back!

Still the same and better still. Food is exceptional, atmosphere is familiar and the signing is exhilarating! The outside added dining is great, wish I knew ahead of time and the box where the servers sign their aurias was great since the sound resonates like the shower. A must do while in Philly

We came here because it stands in as Rocky’s restaurant “Adrian’s” in the Rocky Balboa and Creed movies, but we would have enjoyed it regardless. It’s a unique experience in which each server is also a trained opera singer. Every 20 minutes or so, a server performs an aria. The food was pretty good.

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere! We visited for dinner and had the best time. The servers are professional opera singers and they were a perfect compliment to the delicious food. The service was great and the restaurant truly felt like an authentic place. Highly recommend.

Huge disappointment! The entertainment was the only good thing about this restaurant. The food is pretty expensive but you don’t get good food here! Also i get a reservation a day before i go from the web site and called them for confirmation and be sure if I will have a good table but they put me all the way back and the corner that you don’t see any performance! I asked and explained it to the person who put me in that table but he said “I actually saved that table but they wanted to took your table” it’s a worse excuse ever! I also asked the person for another table they almost leave and he said yes sure i will check that but never let me seat there!

Excellent Service, Great Atmosphere, Singing was Terrific. Food was Very Good, but over priced for what was served... must be the location and known name. A really fun time. Be sure to go upstairs for an after dinner cocktail. Unfortunately NO Photos or Videos.

Certainly amazing service, good, atmosphere and luckily listening live opera! 5/5 ⭐️!!! Brenna was our server and she’s absolutely above and beyond! Food is so tasty, and dessert options never miss! Price is reasonable and not too pricey! I certainly will come back and highly recommended!

Let’s be real here. The amazing food plus the amazing service, topped with the outstanding performances, makes this place a gem of philadelphia. At least go here once and enjoy yourself in any occasion. Ps the Pistachio special dessert!! 👨‍🍳 💋

Great experience and food as usual. Love stopping here and recommend for anyone looking for really great food in a very unique restaurant. The food is excellent and the wait staff are all classical trained opera singers and approx every 20 min a different person sings an amazing song.

WOW! WOW! WOW! Such a hidden gem in the heart of a city neighborhood. Everything from the appetizers of meatballs, burrata and Cesar salad to the main courses of Linguine Frutti DiMare, New York Strip, Mushroom Raviolo w/Shrimp in a gorgonzola cream sauce. FABULOUS. One small food faux pas is they forgot to insert the gooey chocolate in the dessert but they quickly replaced it with a delicious slice of cheese cake. But wait, if you thought the food will bring you back, the highlight was the amazing opera singers that would serenade you every 15-20 minutes that would bring chills to every limb. This will be a repeat visit for sure. $18 Valet + tip. Expect no parking spots since it is on-street only.

We had an incredible first time experience at the Victor Cafe! We had mussels fra diavolo and prosciutto wrapped wrapped crabmeat appetizer, bone in veal chop dinner special, seafood fra diavolo entree, and spumoni for dessert. Everything was exceptional, especially the singing!!!!

Awesome dinner with Opera singers who were amazing. Meatballs, Sausage & Spaghetti were one of the best we ever had. A little expensive but not outrageous. We saved some money by splitting an appetizer & entree, and still brought home some leftovers. We definitely will go back. Thanks

During our most recent visit to Philadelphia, my wife's sister and brother-in-law treated us to dinner at The Victor Cafe, and we enjoyed a delicious meal and a lovely experience. Although I am not an opera fan, I certainly appreciated the talent of the singers, and I marveled at their ability to change roles - from performer to server - 'without skipping a beat' and doing each excellently. In addition, we enjoyed immensely our entrees, beverages, and desserts. Highly recommended!

This is an absolute Philadelphia gem! I came here to celebrate a birthday and had a lovely time. Not only are the staff extremely kind and attentive, but the vocal talent in that space brought me to tears at certain points. Our pasta and drinks were delicious and the atmosphere of dimly lit candles and vintage photos and furniture made for a beautiful, elegant night. I will be telling everyone I know about this place and will definitely be coming back!

Last night was the second time my wife and I dined at The Victor Cafe. The lounge upstairs for a before dinner drink is really nice and comfortable with a speakeasy type vibe. The real entertainment are the insanely talented staff. Their voices are incredible and the entire concept behind this idea of having your waiter also be a trained opera singer that entertains the restaurant every half hour or so is amazing. I would imagine it being an extremely difficult concept to recreate given the talent that you need to find that can also work as a good server. The history behind this place is also really cool with the connection to the Rocky movies which were filmed there. All in all a great date spot out! The food was good too!

First time here and surely won’t be the last. Surprised my girlfriend who loved it as well. The service, food, and singing were all fantastic. The staff was passionate not only about the history of the establishment but about the food as well. Truly ‘south Philly portions’ that you can appreciate. We got the pasta with scallops and shrimp (delicious) and pork chop with mashed potatoes (again, spectacular - juicy and perfectly cooked over a sauce that I’m going to have to try and replicate at home). Also the mussels in the spicy option. Absolutely delicious. The bread we also got was perfect to soak it all up too! Would highly highly recommend to anyone looking for a truly unique south Philly experience. Also the drinks were fantastic! Got a whisky cocktail that was very well prepared and strong. Went on a Friday night WITH a reservation, which was helpful especially since we wanted to sit inside. Credit cards are accepted!

We had one of the best dining experiences of our lives tonight while visiting family in Philadephia. Where do we start? The waitress named MARISSA was incredibly charming and delightful and made us feel so special and welcome. Long with that MARISSA is so talented and as with other waiters and waitresses there will sing opera while patrons are enjoying their fabulous dinners. MARISSA sang a song from the musical The Music Man, entitled "Till It Was You” and capped the night off. Treat yourself to a dinner at The Victor Cafe and enjoy authentic Italian cuisine and float on the enchanting operatic songs. There were 5 sung just during our dinner. Unique and wonderful. A very special night with family. David and Martha

Had a great time here for our anniversary dinner. Service was a bit slow, but our server was excellent and they were very busy. Loved hearing the very talented staff sing opera! The crab ravioli with saffron cream sauce was phenomenal.

My first experience at this restaurant was ~8 years ago, I had a wonderful time and thought the food was great. I went again last weekend for a birthday, and was very disappointed. The atmosphere was off and the food was not good. My pasta dish tasted like fruit loops…

  • 5/5 Crystal S. 2 years ago on Google
Had such an amazing experience at this restaurant! All their waiters/waitresses are singers and take turns performing. Our waiter, Ryan, was phenomenal!!!!! A++ customer service. We asked Ryan if he could sing for us, and although he was getting over a cold, he went up and sang for us. I really could go on and on about how wonderful he was. On top of the fantastic customer service the food was amazing, from the appetizers to dessert! If your looking for a place to celebrate your anniversary, on a date, or simply want great food, music, and customer service, this is the place to go. I will be going back soon and hopefully on a day that Ryan is working.
