I was really excited to see that Top Tomato had a vegan menu on its website. And I do commend them for having vegan options. However, I was disappointed. I ordered pick up and the lady on the phone was unfortunately very incompetent. She seemed nice, but I had to repeat my order 5 times for her to get it, and she seemed to have no familiarity with the menu. She also didn't understand the question "can I pay for the order at the store?" She had to ask for help from co workers twice. We ordered a vegan veggie delight pizza. It's 17.99 for a personal size on the website menu, which is already pricey. However, they actually billed me for a vegetarian delight pizza with sub vegan cheese, so it was 15.99 + 4 = 19.99. A 4 dollar surcharge for vegan cheese is ludicrous and 19.99 for a personal veggie pizza is insane. Also, crust was very sad. I even said multiple times that I wanted a normal crust, NOT gf/cauliflower which the lady on the phone wanted to get. And this was also reflected on the receipt. But the crust was so thin and orange. Nothing like their usual crust. I'm certain they gave me a gf crust accidentally. If this is their vegan crust, it's shockingly bad. Pizza crust is already vegan so I'm not sure why it was a cracker with no leavening. The toppings were quite good though. The vegan chicken sandwich was simultaneously dry and soggy. Only sauce was mustard, when ketchup and vegan mayo would be an easy fix. The patty itself was good, but a breadcrumb coating. The bread was soggy from pickle juice - an easy fix would be lettuce between pickles and bread. Good potential, probably good intent, but subpar service and poor execution. But these are easy things to rectify!

Fresh. Big servings. Staff are friendly and helpful. Eggplant tasted great! If you are visiting Thomas Jefferson Hospital it's the best place in the area to go for lunch or dinner. You don't have to worried about getting lost. It's down a little ways and across the street from the ER entrance.

On Oct 1st I ordered a plain slice and a bottle of soda. The woman said $9.50. I asked how much is a slice? $5 she told me. I checked their prices online and I believe my total should have been $7.25 + tax. I know it's a small difference but, it doesn't seem right to me.

In short: Bad service Such a disappointment. Myself and a friend decided to grab food and drinks since we had a great experience at the previous location. HUGE MISTAKE. While the service was great from the bartenders, the kitchen staff was horrible. We ordered pizza with Buffalo wings as the appetizer. After waiting about 30 minutes for our chicken, we receiver dry cold food! The bartender was pleasant when met with our concerns. A brown skin gentleman with a fro approached us(unsure it he’s kitchen staff or management) and stated that chicken is prepped AN HOUR before orders and that staff is at times late picking it up so that’s the reason it’s cold. He went on to insinuate we are ignorant to kitchen preparation and blame his runners. THEN rather than correct the issue, he stated that or pizza may also be cold so he’d rather we’d pay the drink bill(took the food off) and eat elsewhere. Sad shame. Customer service was deplorable. Plenty of other pizza stores in the area worth the money. Go elsewhere!

If you order from "Italian Moderna," that's this place, and the food is /awful/. Received a chicken marsala dinner with sauce so watery it exploded out of the packaging. The chicken was tough and overcooked, but it also clearly hadn't been pan fried (the chicken should be browned on the outside, not look anemic). I called this place to let them know--I didn't even ask for a refund--and their response was "I don't know what you want me to do." I spoke to a manager, who said his name was Mike, and he just did not care that the food was bad. Staff told me to take the issue up with DoorDash. Absolutely the worst.

It’s better on top! The team was flexible with food packages for our 180 person pre-wedding event, and gave us great AV access for a slideshow and a speech. Our guests enjoyed the array of apps, pizza and pasta, they let us bring in our own cake for dessert, and the DJ slayed with the guests dancing well past 10. The food and drink package were extremely flexible, the minimum was very reasonable for a Sat night from 7-10, and the space worked well (though we would recommend having under 150, it was a tad crowded!). In our prep, we were greeted warmly by the owner, Sam, and Chris was helpful via email and phone, even recommending we order LESS than planned originally because he was knowledgeable about volumes for events. On the night of, they ensured our guests were consistently well fed. The on-duty manager was professional and easy to work with during a hectic evening!

This place is an absolute joke. I was here for New Year’s Eve for about an hour. I was standing at the top of the steps by the sign that has their name on it but to the right enough that I was in the way of absolutely nothing. Not in the way of guest, bartenders, security. Absolutely no one. If someone wanted to take a picture there was enough room that I wasn’t in the way of that ether. I am also extremely considerate and would’ve moved if I was but I was not. Some man with a scarf ( it’s 50 degrees tonight why do you need a scarf?) said I needed to move. He didn’t ask politely. He said you need to move. So I questioned it. I am out of the way of everything. Not bothering a soul. My friends are having a good time. I have no illegal things in my pockets and I’ve had one drink. Just one. I don’t like being in the middle of everyone. I find a place to stand and watch and enjoy myself. Ultimately I moved. I found a different spot. Where girls were standing on the window sill and doing wild things. Again minding my business and here comes security kicking me out. I told the security guard what happen and he said “that guy is always on a power trip” And he claims he told me to leave earlier in the evening but I was only in the business for an hour before being told to leave. I’m not sure who the man is with the very very receding hair line but I hope he never needs service in the fine dining establishment I work at because it’ll never happen. Disgusting of the business. There were many other activities going on in there that could’ve been removable behaviors. Me standing against a wall, sober as can be was not one of them

We beat the rush at this one as it is in a very busy area. The staff maintained their friendliness and folks still got their food quickly. The atmosphere was clean and modern. The ravioli was delicious

I like their pizzas and sandwiches the best. The chicken pesto as a sandwich or slice is great! Really good place to watch a sporting event. They'll do the volume, music at commercials, and a good crowd. Owner is very nice and has a good team.

Great location. Hummus platter is consistent. First but not the last time getting the spicy asian boneless wings or the penne vodka pizza. I never thought I would say that but the bite of the penne and sauce with the fresh pizza was immaculate!

Visited Top Tomato for the first time last night on my birthday and it was amazing! Tabetha, the bartender, was so friendly and attentive. The DJ Philthy Phil was so cool, not getting annoyed at my bad bunny requests. All the security guys were a total vibe. The atmosphere was A1. Pizza was good but the staff, chefs kiss.

Quite a busy little restaurant! Had the Chicken Parm, with a nice draft to was it down. Sat downstairs, and enjoyed my salad and dinner. The Chicken was a little well done for my taste, but the penny was nice and the sauce was good.. a little on the sweet side. This was on a Sunday evening..

We visited from Texas & decided to eat here for dinner one night & it did not disappoint!! Absolutely incredible!! We split all of our food- appetizers were garlic bread & bruschetta. & meals were chicken fettuccine alfredo & cheese ravioli. All of it was DELICIOUS & to top it off we had the best server! If we ever find ourselves back in Philly, we will definitely stop again!!

Ziggy is one of the nicest bar owners in the city. Always friendly and accommodating, and also hosts one of the best trivia nights in the city on Wednesdays. The food is also very good. I’d recommend the penne vodka or the chicken steak. The fries are also insanely good. Always perfectly crisped. Can’t wait for the new location!

Luke the "manager" sucks at listening to his staff and customer desires. I would've enjoyed making this the new spot, but it's clear that his goals were not service. Gave 2 stars in favor of the admirable staff that did their best to provide a good experience. Enjoy your Golf Luke!

Pizza taste like cardboard when its not burnt and the burgers were not cooked at all. No one speaks english have the staff dont have proper working papers.. This place has to be the worst pizza spot in the entire city. Seems like the entire kitchen staff is afraid of the managers who likes to argue and yell at patrons. Nothing on the menu is good. The only good news is the location. And apparently threatens people who leave bad reviews just speaking the truth. NYPD is better and right next door.

Been here twice, I never have more than 3 drinks. First time I went it was great, then I went to one of their Saturday night events. Somehow was asked to leave after 3 drinks despite there being women pouring an entire bottle of whiskey into the mouths of others... Bouncer put his hand on my lower back before speaking to me, which was uncomfortable. They separated me from my group. I understood I had been drinking and didn’t put up an argument, but when I asked if I could stand in the bottom floor near the bouncers so I wasn’t on the street alone, they said no. Male bouncers in the bathroom area. Not the safest place for a woman to be

Just amazed how this place is! The top floor was a great view with the windows open. The staff were amazing! And the food was on point!!! Got the turkey burger and fries. Tasted wonderful! Fries were delicious! Sunday afternoon and was no wait.

Good afternoon. I've ordered from here a few times. The staff is friendly and the food is not bad. I only have 1 issue to report. The older gentleman, I assume he runs the restaurant. Today and the last time I ordered, I noticed him touching his face, putting fingers in his mouth then proceeded to touch food for customers without washing his hands. It's things like this that deters people from dining. Thanks

We are from out of town and found this place on google from another person saying they had gluten free pizza and options. Wow. Wow. Hands down, best gluten free cauliflower crust pizza. Not overdone, perfectly done crust- I Had the spring fling and it was amazing. Also happy hour drinks..$5. You can’t go wrong. Hats off to best server ever- Dre. Third shift and already killing it. Made sure everything was not cross contaminated and was on top of it.

Victor the bartender was awesome! So friendly and made great shots. The pizza was really good as well. Fun place to watch football. They went above and beyond to accommodate a member in our party who is in a wheelchair. The main level is accessible by a ramp, access to top level is only stairs.

Just what I needed after a night out. Service was quick, and my couple slices of pizza were hot and ready by the time my Uber arrived. Didn't get to go upstairs, but from the lobby the choice of music seems pretty good.

The first time I had this pizza it was great!! So we’re the fries…however today I went to get fries and pizza and the pizza was very low quality…it tasted like they had old pizza and hardly warmed it up…I would still recommend this place but the pizza was disappointing this time around. This past time was a little lazy with the pizza. Hopefully they get more consistent with the pizza because people can tell the difference between fresh and old.

Great customer service and food. We were in from out of town and got a great Philly cheesesteak sandwich here. It was so good that we came back and had it a second time. It was REALLY good on the hoagie! The owner was present and involved in the business which was nice to see.

As tourist, Ari was amazing. She is super friendly and informative. Good food and better beer. If I ever come back to Philly I’ll be back to this spot.

Love, love, LOVE The pizza here. I have driven from the suburbs to the city just to get it. They have a great slice selection, and their drink prices are really good for the city. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Top Tomato Bar & Pizza is amazing! We ordered pizza from them for my workplace's pizza party event and the service and pizza were great. The delivery was right on time and the customer service was wonderful. The best part is that their pizza accommodates all types of dietary restrictions. We had guests with vegan and gluten free diets, and finding pizza restaurants that will accommodate these needs is usually very challenging. We were so pleased to find Top Tomato Bar & Pizza and loved their diverse range of pizza and quality flavors and ingredients. I will definitely be ordering from them again!

EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK! I work at Jefferson hospital and I ordered a salad almost every time I work. Today I ordered a slice of pizza to go with it, however it was cold when I bit into it. I took it back to the counter and let them know that the slice was cold. The cashier who had been taking orders and payments grab the pizza of the box with her bare hands without washing them. When I complained to the owner he snapped at me and said you can bite the pizza but she can’t touch it! I immediately ask for a total refund! Not only are they rude but they are not sanitary! EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK! OWNERS DON’T CARE! They just want the money!!!!

First time here at Top Tomato. Drove into Philly for the day from Jersey. Didn’t have the food but the place smelled amazing. Fresh pizza upon walking in. Sat at the bar for a drink; servers were nice attentive and friendly. Music was vibing and the atmosphere was just what a Saturday night needed. If you’re ever in town stop by.

We’ve only come to this place a few times and haven’t had issues before. We came to watch the football game and opened a few tabs (friends were paying separately) the bartender/ waitress kept telling us they couldn’t find our tabs. Had to ask another bartender and when they did find it they put a bunch of stuff nobody ordered on my one friends tab. While trying to talk to the owner about getting the extra stuff off he SHOVED my friend from across the bar. He would only talk to me even though it wasn’t my tab they were fixing. The was the worst experience at an establishment and very disorganized. Never going back

New favorite pizza place! Highly recommend the red top (sauce on top). So delicious, happy hour drink specials were awesome, and the staff is so friendly! Our server Stella went above and beyond to make it a great experience.

Ordered take-away on-line from here on a Friday night. Two slices of pizza and calamari - when I arrived, they had forgotten to make the calamari - got to spend an extra 20 mins waiting. The calamari was rubbery (seems to have started frozen from one of the national food distributors). The pizza was marginal at best. Does not live up to the hype.

  • 1/5 Donna B. 2 years ago on Google
I order a cob salad…..worst salad I ever had. Chicken look and taste cheap and rubbery. I ask for extra blue cheese crumble. There’s was barely any in it and no bacon. Too tomato has really fell off. Not the same like they used to be.

We stopped in for drinks & a slice of pizza and our bartender “Ari” was AMAZING! She was so sweet & we loved getting to meet her! The food & drinks were amazing as usual. The best pizza I the city for sure!

Decent food and drinks but that’s about it. Felt like I was back in middle school while I was here with all of the rules and “teachers” watching over you. I mean come on, it’s a bar. Music was horrible as well, are we back in 2010? Get a grip

  • 5/5 Nicole C. 1 year ago on Google
Ended up here with a small group of friends while looking for another restaurant. Solid food. We ordered a pizza and philly cheesesteaks. Was very busy when we visited and the upstairs was very popular. Great for game day atmosphere/college aged individuals. If sensitive to loud music I would avoid on game days.

Great place with delicious buffalo chicken pizza (with cauliflower crust). The manager was very nice and great customer service experience overall. I would recommend to others. Thanks again for a great experience and the delicious pizza.

I've been coming to Top Tomato for years and have tried just about every other pizza place in Center City. They are the best! Their slices are always hot and fresh and the whole pies are great, too. I live in Maryland now but still commute to Philly for work and have been known to take a whole pie home on Amtrak as well as going there once a week for a slice. Their sandwiches are great as well! The owner and staff are so friendly. This will always be my favorite pizza!

  • 1/5 Martin N. 1 year ago on Google
Like some other reviews here have said, pizza taste like cardboard when its not burnt and sandwiches are just terrible. Whoever the owner or manager is, the old cranky man, is rude and frankly makes eating there even more nauseating. Kind of funny that when reviewers point out that Top Tomato threatens people who leave bad reviews just speaking the truth, right below is a comment from TopTomato bashing the reviewer lol. Again, NYPD is better and right next door.
