Beautiful place open spaces well ventilated with a big invitation to workout plenty of available equipments and no wait

It's as good as any other planet fitness. Only reason it's not all 5 stars is because they still strictly require you to wear a mask. And I'd you're really exerting yourself you will feel like ur gonna die in that mask 😷 I go to other PF around and they don't make you wear one. However this is the closest one to my job. [Edit] I understand why it's the way it is, but it still sucks. I'll still go regardless. [Edit] 4/5/22 went for a workout this morning, mask mandate is no more, I can finally breathe properly 💪🏾😁

I like this gym. I just don’t like that it’s become a social grounds for kids to hang out now that Planet Fitness is letting teens in for free. Just a few minutes a go some teenage boy walked into to the womens locker room like it was nothing 😤

I use to love Planet Fitness, but those hidden fees (49.00 out of nowhere) for yearly dues. I think if that's explained to the member at the beginning of membership it would be better and well expected! Other than that, PF is cool! The fee is definitely hidden or I'd still be a member! No disrespect. Maybe I didn't read the fine print but I didn't think I needed to. I was a member years ago when they discussed everything regarding membership the day you joined!!!

I would like to do a review of the new Assistant Manager Terrance Sanders. First I would like to say I'm mad that he is no longer at the 52nd street location. His warm and friendly attitude and personality will be missed. He was always really professional and made sure that he followed company standards. I happen to go to the Island Avenue location actually just for the restroom and who did I see....yes Terrance was at the front desk. How fortunate the Planet Fitness on Island Avenue is to have him as an assistant General manager. I'm sure he will be Manager in no time... Way to go Terrance. Miss Wood

One of the better planet fitness locations in the area. The employees here are friendly for the most part, the bathrooms & showers are clean. Not my favorite location but definitely not the worst

Been a customer for a couple years here at Penrose. Always excellent customer service…until now. There’s a new young male manager who changed the environment and professionalism of staff. He does not greet or make me nor my family/friends feel welcome. When I enter the gym, he’s either on his phone, doesn’t speak, or doesn’t give off a warm smile like many staff had done before and some current staff do now. Another time when interacting with him, he had a very sarcastic approach when asking a question. The gym isn’t the cleanest now. Dumbbells are scattered everywhere and the machines are always broken. I’m not sure if his training was cut short or he is inexperienced, but I believe he needs to be retrained in customer service and management skills. It begins with leadership and the staff will follow. Lead by example. I refuse to come on weekdays now due to not wanting to experience the negative energy he provides. I’d rather drive further to South Philly or Ridley. People come to the gym for many reasons, one being mental health. A place that helps improve your mental health - you would want the same consistency no matter the changes in management/staff. You want to keep coming back because the staff makes you feel motivated to better yourself by simply providing a friendly and welcoming gesture. A safe place for all. We (customers) need the old customer service back when it was very inviting. I’ll update my review in one month. Hope things change for the better. Weekend staff is amazing - he could learn a few tips from that team or from the locations mentioned above. Would’ve been a one star if it wasn’t for the weekend staff.

Friday morning I call for a personal trainer and they tell me that he’s running late and to call back.. I called back twice and Friday he never showed up to work.. they instead tell me to schedule an appointment for Monday morning to meet with trainer for a session.. what a surprise my training was scheduled for 10:00 am but at 10:10 I arrived all just for them to tell me had an emergency and wasn’t there.. right what a coincidence the crazy part is this is their only trainer available. Totally unprofessional I would recommend bringing your own trainer with u or going to the nearest location which is Ridley. Their trainer is unreliable… it’s the point they didn’t even call to tell me that he wasn’t there waited until i arrived. Only emergency he had was he didn’t feel like working 😂😩 the manager up front was nice tho

OMG....honestly i' m happy that I went with a day pass to try this location in island ave. I got the day pass to go there to try it for free and decide if I get a membership or not. I have already talked with someone named samir who was nice but today I have found a rude and unprofessional guy named "Nassir" his attitude pushed me a way....and I will never go there again. He asked me even to pay 10$ for that day pass.....tjx God that I have not started with the membership first.....iwill try to take my business to la somewhere else..sorry for bothering u bro....the other guy working there acted the same way when I have asked about a manager.....now I m in south philly trying another location .....Trey who is working here is just nice....got in with a day pass to look around and try it...for free...i will get my membership her in a Oregon st.

Great gym and it’s clean for a quick workout. It would be nice if it were open 24 hours like other planet fitness locations. I believe this is one of the few locations that close at 10pm. Other than that it’s a nice place to work out.

Why is this place so bad with customers? I joined and wanted to stop going, but they made it impossible for me to stop. Why can't I just call and quit why I have to write or show up at the gym

This is one of the better ones. Always clean, never too crowded. Plenty of parking. They recently added more Smith machines and a smaller dual cable station. I almost never need to wait for something to open up.

I judge planet fitness by its restrooms they had the best so far very clean mats for the showers and stales to get dressed next to the showers.only complaint they could turn up the temperature on the hot water a TAD ,no one likes to be cold in a hot shower 😇

I used to go to the exercises in this particular location on Island Avenue and i amazed by the ethics of customer service and their good treatment, they are always lovable and funy and the place is always clean, tidy and elegant. I also noticed that the athletes who go to this location are somewhat influenced by the hospitality with good manners and great treatment of the customers service and cleaners❤️🙏👌🏽

Its the same as it was when i was there last year. great area, great people and great support too.. i can't wait to come back again along with making a proper schedule to walk there everyday.

Just started this gym a few weeks ago, checking in is cool and most if not all the machines are open most of the time and are operable

I love this place. No judgment, work out at your own pace. Bathrooms are clean. Staff is always friendly. Massage chairs are great.

I love planet fitness the one I go to one Island Avenue because the staff is awesome the atmosphere is peaceful the equipment is clean and you have a lot of fun just exercising.

My experience with planet fitness was a very good one. The staff was extremely friendly and engaging. I was greeted when I checked in and when I left the gym. They have a large array of free weights and exercise equipment. The gym and restrooms are very clean and tidy. I found the gym to be a non-judgment environment like they advertise. Planet fitness is a gym that I would highly recommend to my family and friends to join!

As far as PFs go, this location is sub par. Compared to other locations I’ve used, this one has the lowest number of resistance machines/apparatuses—and thus an inadequate variety—I’ve come across in a PF. (The complete opposite is true regarding cardio equipment) Moreover, it seems regular maintenance of their resistance machines isn’t a priority. For example, it’s obvious—because of their friction and lack of smoothness—many of the rods that guide machines’ weight stacks haven’t been cleaned or lubricated for quite some time. The dumbbells are *never* where they’re supposed to be on the racks. In other locations, staff usually fix that member-generated problem by regularly organizing the dumbbells. Not here. Speaking of member-generated problems the staff don’t intervene to mitigate, it’s not uncommon for members here to hoard dumbbells or monopolize multiple pieces of weight equipment to do super sets, giant sets, or modified circuits. (I have yet to see the machines/space dedicated to circuit training used by anyone.) This wouldn’t be a big deal if this location had more weight equipment. Replacing some of huge number of cardio machines with more weight machines would help significantly, but that’s unlikely to happen. I’ve used this facility because of its proximity to where I live, since I moved. However, I’m tired or making do, and my dissatisfaction will probably lead me to find another gym. I’m sure this PF works for many people, but I’m not among them.

The Trainer does do much helping, more like pointing to which machine to use.. Other than that, with all the work I've put in and weight loss . It's an awesome place to go and do something healthy for yourself. Never any problems either. Everyone working out.

If your a runner,this place has about 30+ treadmills,bikes etc if you lift or calisthenics maybe try another location.this is basically a cardio friendly place..very clean very spacious and the staff are top notch absolutely amazing staff.

Only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because their hours are too inconsistent. During COVID they went to this annoying close at 9 and 7 on weekends and they’ve never returned. 24-7 should be the goal! Or at least way later on weekends.

Very good gym (staff, maintenence, cleanliness, etc). Evenings can be a bit crowded. Check the crowd meter on google or on their app if your a not a fan of waiting for a smith machine. Everythig else is usually available immediately or after a 2 min wait. Used to be 24 hours everyday. Now its just 24 hrs on Mon- Thursday. I guess inflation has done away with their "24 hour everyday" advertisement.

It was a good and clean gym. Close to the neighborhood and not packed when I went there. Good service and respectful people using the equipment.

Small but it’s clean and everyone is friendly and super helpful. I went during the day and overall, it’s a nice little vibe. Every team member was ready to assist, there’s more than enough equipment and the locker rooms and bathrooms are in tip top shape 👌🏾. It was my first time but I’ll definitely be going back. I felt like I was gonna pass out but they had me laughing and was supportive.
