This is my favorite place to walk and bike. Lots of wildlife to be seen. Many different birds, raccoons, bob cats, coyotes, water turtles, fish, foxes. I have been visiting this area for 9 years and wnjoy it so much. People do litter this area which is sad to see, especially since there are now trash cans along the trail. I pick up the trash that I can while there. A permit is required but I have never been asked to show a permit in all the times I have been coming here and have run into city workers and police while out walking. The permit can be easily obtained on the city of Phoenix website for free.

Wow, this hiking trail is amazing. The most wildlife I have ever seen in any trail in the Phoenix area! Pretty flat trail and easy to navigate. You are going to need to get a free permit to enter, I don't think it's heavily enforced to enter bit got on easily on the website.

Will need to apply for permit to get into the park. Park outside the gate and walk and walk. Would be nice to be able to park inside the gate. Kind of wish there would be more hiking trail other than the main gravel road. Not a lot of spot to see wildlife action on the water. The main wildlife activities is over the private gated fence. Which is for employees only. Good for cardio if you like gravel road. There one or 2 fishing spot here.🎣 Not the best but as good as it can be since you are in the desert. Tilapia, catfish, bass, and pleco is what I can see here, need license to fish. Nice to see water in the desert 🏜 😀 👍 The trash 🗑 was full to the max, look like people are doing their job to take it to the trash bin but the city/park isn't emptying it.

Wonderful quiet place to get away from the rat race of life . Beautiful! Tons of birds ! Great place for bird watching and photography!

Do not recommend bringing dogs. Just over a mile into the trail 2 large dogs came running out of a nearby house after my dogs and I, trying to approach and clearly aggressive. Also saw 2 other stray dogs but were skittish. Also came across a man with a group of women taking photos completely naked on the trail. It was an interesting walk.

I’ve started to bike here recently. Fantastic gravel trail with some great views. If you’re feeling adventurous you can do some biking along some of the more makeshift trails. Never too crowded.

Great place to Fish or just take a walk! Park your car at the gate. Don't forget your permit with you can get it online. It's beautiful and very peaceful.

I’m not able to hike excessively and realized this place was near me. It’s about 5 miles roundtrip, hike. A very simple, flat hike, with lots of wildlife surrounding you. The actual ponds aren’t accessible to the public. However, there’s plenty of water views around. When I was there, it was a very windy morning with very blue skies. It was perfect. I will definitely come back and do the full loop. I just wish the fenced area was open to the public. IG @ hikingthisplanet

The best of the wetlands are fenced off, no access. Lots of garbage. I was disappointed. Not sure why they make you get a permit to visit what is basically a hiking road

Beautiful place, but most of the trails are closed. You need a permit, but nobody has ever checked to see if i have one. You can get it on their website for free though just in case. The entire place is flat so is easy for anyone to walk. You park outside the gate. It looks closed, but you just go under the gate to enter
