Based on the reviews, I had high hopes for Blue Hound. I ordered the 900° Hot Stone with the ahi tuna. The ponzu was decent, but the server poured about 2/3 of it out when demoing what to do even though it comes with a dropper. The "salad" was nothing more than undressed green onion and cilantro leaves tossed together. Hardly a salad by any stretch. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and seasoned quite well. However, as shown in the photos, that does not count as "cilantro crusted" when there are maybe 5 leaves on it. The romesco lacked the punch of a typical red pepper romesco, which would be a better pairing with both the sea bass and broccolini. For the amount you spend even before tipping, I expected far more. There is room for growth and improvement to take these dishes to the next level and I hope the crew at BHKC does it.

The server was great unfortunately this establishment has decided they are not offering cash back to its customers. Meaning if your drink is 8 bucks and you pay with a 20 you get 0 back. While the world maybe struggling with coin change there is no shortage of dollar bills. Considering I just got 200 in dollar bills just the day before from the Wells Fargo across the street, I'm sure this place could handle giving dollar bill change back.

Beautiful style, great service, wonderful appetizers and okay dinner. I would stick with the appetizers and speak highly of our waiter and the front staff. Sadly the manager was rude.

Great atmosphere. Our server, ? Kristin was great and went above and beyond. It was a bit too pricy. I recommend it and will go back myself.

Loved this place!! The BBQ was the best I have had from a restaurant in awhile. The tip was nice and juicy with a hint of smoke flavor! I would definitely come back next time I'm in the mood for BBQ!

We stopped here for lunch. This restaurant is attached to a hotel and is on the 2nd level, accessible from the street via an elevator. The decor is sleek and modern with some interesting touches. The feeling is upscale. Our food and drinks were good and we had a nice view out the window of downtown. A good place if you’re looking for a nice place for lunch. This place was amazing. Colleen was an exceptional waitress. Our water cups were never empty, she was constantly checking in and the food...OMG...the food was SO SO good. No joke. Worth every second and penny!!!

Their cocktails were what caught my eye because they were all in really cute cups/mugs. Unfortunately, I thought they were too pricey so we didn't get any. The food was decent, nothing out of the ordinary. I got the classic omelette with a side of potatoes. The service was great! Our server was so entertaining to talk to, he made sure we had a good time. I also liked that they put us by a window so that we could get a view f Cityscape.

Blue Hound is fun, not overly fancy, not overly priced just above reasonable, and straight to the point with higher-end pub style food selections. If you’re a steak eater, get their amazing porterhouse. It’s huge, if I had to guess it’s probably over 40 ounces and every bit is a guilty pleasure if you can stomach that much meat in one sitting. Cooked perfectly at a charred medium-rare when requested (which often times quite the failed effort at even nice steakhouses in the valley). If you’re staying at the hotel, then it’s a perfect hop and skip downstairs to retrieve a late night beer and appetizers. If you are traveling through on a lay over and staying downtown this is a great dinner stop before strolling around downtown as it’s close to everything. The bartenders are hit and miss but which bars aren’t depending on the day of the week. Overall, recommend it at least once if already downtown for a NBA game or concert.

Such a beautiful interior and very appealing and relaxing as well. The food is out of this world when it comes to the details of service and quality.

Fast and friendly service. Drinks were delicious, but pretty pricey for what you get. The ambiance is modern and upbeat. There is an overwhelming smell of soap that permeates throughout the bar/restaurant. We didn’t try the food, but they offered unique and interesting plates.

Had dinner here after the Phoenix Symphony. Not a large menu but we chose the salmon, the chicken and the mushroom entree for the vegan. The salmon with brussel sprouts, apple and miso were delightful. The bourbon batter chicken was cooked to perfection. And the mushroom was satisfactory to the picky vegan.

Great spot to eat at! Service was quick, food was good. Our bartender /server Mathew was awesome! This place was so awesome we came back for breakfast after our wonderful dinner the night before. Watch out for the bluehound it will motion at you for a sip of your drink and then try to drink it all!

Bug fun in the city for these country girls. A bit swanky and shi-shi but not pretentious. Unique drink menu and great service. Bellied up to the bar for happy hour cocktails. Excellent service.

Had appetizers, soup. burrata, meat & cheese board, followed with entrees, turkey, salmon and hangar steak dinners. Also had some custom drinks including a pecan bourbon. Sat just inside of bar area, very festive with multicolor Christmas lights. Outdoor ice skating rink was closed but lit up with blue snowflakes, very pretty. Excellent breakfasts at the Blue Hound restaurant. We tried the avocado toast, Asian Chicken salad, and omelet were all excellent and our waiter, Michael, was also excellent. Try it, you'll like it!

This is the second time in a year I have stayed at the hotel and enjoyed the bar. The Kimpton hotels are great when you want a good wine while relaxing after a day of shopping, or on this day.. a drive in to the city from Sedona. Great hotel. Great restaurant..

I swung by here for dinner while on a work trip and it definitely didn’t disappoint. I had tuna tartare, Mac and cheese, and a Water of Rosa drink (a gin based cocktail with floral and citrus notes - very fresh). The vibes were very hip and trendy. The bar staff were quick to get my order and very hospitable. Not to mention the food also came out very quickly but was very fresh. The tuna tartare was delicious and so was the Mac and cheese. It says there’s green chile in the Mac and cheese, and while there is - it wasn’t spicy at all so don’t think it will be. Still great Mac and cheese. Definitely recommend.

The food was delicious. We split a steak and the Bolognese. The steak was tender and great. The pasta was amazing- my favorite! The seating did fill up fast and it could get quite loud but it was a great place for dinner and drinks.

My friend and I went to Blue Hound for lunch when we were in town for a conference. Nice atmosphere. The tacos we had were good. I would go back and try other options. I gave 4 stars as we weren't greeted by anyone and took awhile to get someone's attention. It wasn't too busy as there were open tables. Our server was the bartender and he made sure to tell us how busy he was repeatedly. Nice guy though.

  • 2/5 Eric 4 years ago on Google
Not worth the price. I want to mention that the service was great, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. My wife and I had 2 drinks each and ordered and app to go and the bill was $100 and with that price the expectations are high. Sadly that was not the case, we were actually extremely disappointed with the food. We ordered the Chicken and Dumplings ($16) to go; what was served to us should not have made it out of the kitchen. Our meal only had 4 tiny crumbles of chicken, poor quality control. We would have returned it if not for the hassle of having to drive back. A learning experience, do not order food from this place, we will not be going back to this place. It’s a shame I cannot post a picture along with this review to show how sorry the meal was.

Excellent place near Cityscape, Talking Sticks and Chase stadium. Easy walk if staying in downtown hotel. Bar has good drinks and food is good. The tuna tartare appetizer was OK and same with the Chorizo and papers. Steak was cooked rare properly. Good for a dinner and drink if staying downtown or coming down for an event.

A friend and I came here on a Tuesday night. We sat at the bar. It took a while to get the bartenders attention when we showed up.We both ordered a beer and saw the reviews for the Chopped Salad. I added salmon to mine and he added chicken to his. The salads were good but I would not pay this much again. Overall my individual bill for 1 beer and a salad was close to $40.

A bit odd. No menu. Have to scan a barcode with your phone. Bottle of hand sanitizer offered by host. Good but overpriced wine and cocktail list. Same goes for food (Hamburger with tomato, lettuce and American cheese $15??!!) Server friendly and knowledgeable. Location a bit difficult to find. Overall, it was my company that mattered so it was still a pleasant experience but, wont be back.

Recently when visiting my girlfriend in Phoenix, I visited Blue Hound on Sunday morning. I ordered the Avo toast, my son ordered the Crispy Coconut French Toast and the lady ordered the Berry Chia Pudding (Not pictured). Everything was phenomenal. The service was great and friend. Everything was very fresh in my opinion. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in Phoenix. It was extremely hard for the 3 of us to settle on which was the best bite. The pudding was so refreshing, the French toast was a knock out and the Avo toast was some of the best I’ve ever had. Go visit if you can.

My three stars is solely based on food. The service, atmosphere and drinks all get 5 stars. I was disappointed with the food. Definitely not bad and I’ve had worse for sure, just not the deliciousness I was expecting especially for the price. This is for sure the spot to come for some really interesting and cool cocktails and whiskeys. Just don’t waste your time eating here.

Not very impressed. I rarely leave reviews, but I feel like this experience deserves one. The valet and front desk at the hotel were fantastic. The service at the lustre (hotel pool bar) was great. Unfortunately, the Blue Hound was not great. The food was okay except a lackluster $22 charcuterie plate. We ended up with a significant amount of food without silverware and plates. Not really a big deal, but it took 15-20 minutes to get plates that we could eat off of. I completely understand this when a restaurant is busy and under a lot of pressure, but they weren't and we ordered a good amount of food. Having worked in restaurants for quite some time, I find this unacceptable. The integrity of what was good food was compromised by a wait time that left us bummed out. I would still recommend this hotel and restaurant, but I think there is a a lot of room for them to up the quality of the in room experience.

Nice upscale place. Like a lot of places you use the scan code to get food. May want to make reservations since it gets busy in Saturdays but, you can sit at the bar right away and order if there is room. Food was good. Big fan of this sweet potato 🍟fries!

  • 4/5 Hugo A. 2 years ago on Google
Ok, so the food stood out for me here, especially those cheese curds and tator tots over gravy! That was sooo yummy! I then had their pork belly grilled cheese, over what I can assume was sourdough bread; the sandwich was tasty but could have used a slight kick, however the pork belly was cooked to perfection. Now, here is my main concern, the price for happy hour drinks was a bit high. They have a 9 dollar old fashioned made with Evan Williams Bourbon that was fine, but fine doesn't cut it at that price. In addition, the house wine was 7 a glass which is FAR too much considering the sugar content and chalky flavor the red house wine had. I'd go again, but only for the food. The Blue Hound can do better.

  • 1/5 matt k. 2 years ago on Google
Service was great, the atmosphere was also great, but you mainly go to a restaurant for the food. My girlfriend got the burger which was decent, maybe a bit over priced. Whatever you do DO NOT get the Pulled Pork and Rib Plate. For $35 you get less than a quarter rack of ribs, the absolute tiniest portion of pulled pork, and no joke a quarter sausage, sided with the worst corn bread I’ve ever had. Would love to go back but the food just sucked for the price. Would recommend going somewhere else if you want to eat and not spend a ton where your still hungry after.

Would love to give 5 stars, but they came up short on a couple of things. First off, the main courses came out, but we had ordered an appetizer. Had to ask for that, which showed up shortly thereafter. Second, one of the nightly specials was New York strip steak. It was cooked properly - but came out a touch cool... and overall wasn't really exciting. Not bad, but for the price I would wish for more. My friend's bone-in beef rib was very good though, I must say. Service very attentive, no complaints at all there. Good place for people watching too. I would visit again.

I consider this a "fake fancy" place. Looks nice, the prices are high, but the food is just OK. We went last night and they only had a small offering of the menu that is posted online. The salmon dish was not good, but the chicken my boyfriend got was good.

  • 5/5 Rachel R. 1 year ago on Google
Dinner at Blue Hound Kitchen was wonderful. The braised beef appetizer was excellent. The salmon and the chicken were amazing and had great sauces. And the dessert just topped off a great evening. We had both and they were equally good. What was even better than the food was the service. Our waiter, Clayton, was attentive without spending too much time at our table. Management was always visible. Overall, great atmosphere, wonderful service and amazing food.

Brussels and braised beef were excellent. Spinach mushroom salad tremendous. Some differing opinions on the entrees. Excellent burger but overpriced with good fries. No ranch available for fries but ketchup. My wife and I split the chicken and dumplings I thought it was very good but she didn't care for it. I think she didn't like The dumpling portion but I thought it was actually pretty good. The drinks were actually a really good too.

Watch out for the exact amount on your check. I ordered a takeout of Tossed Chicken Cobb, the price was 15 on the lunch menu. Then it shows 19 on the check. I asked the waiter Christoper, he merely answered that is 19, and the menu is not updated. I don't mind paying 4 dollars more, but the transparency was not conducted until the customer checked the amount. Minus 1 star for not updating the menu, minus another star for not offering a bag when my takeout contains three items, minus the third star for Christoper's attitude, he is more suitable to work in DMV or some other government agencies.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Blue Hound Restaurant in Pheonix. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet inviting, with a classic decor that is perfect for a night out. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and well taken care of by their friendly and knowledgeable staff. But what really sets Blue Hound apart is its commitment to using locally sourced ingredients that are fresh and full of flavor. Not only did this make each dish better than expected but it also made it feel like I was getting an authentic experience – not just another generic restaurant meal. Overall, my experience at Blue Hound was truly delightful. From the exceptional food and drinks to the high-quality service, it’s clear that they take great pride in their craftsmanship and hospitality. If you’re looking for an unforgettable evening out then head over to Blue Hound!

My wife and I recently spent quite a few days at Palomar for a vacation. On the first morning, mid-week, about 9:30am, we went into Blue Hound for breakfast and a bloody. There was one person at the bar and the place was fairly empty - maybe just a table or two. We sat at the bar though no one was behind the bar. Five or ten minutes went by with servers going by that we know clearly saw us. Finally, a girl approached us with menus and water. She was a bit rude, let us know that they normally do not seat people at the bar in the morning, but it was okay just this one time. I told her we were interested in breakfast and a bloody. There was a pause. I asked if a bartender was on. She said no but that they could manage. We decided to leave. We walked out the doors and down just 20 yards to a place called Breakfast Club. It was quite a contrast. The place was hopping busy, but they could still seat us. We got a nice corner table, super service, one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time, and a fabulous bloody. It became our go-to each morning and frankly, we had no interest in trying Blue Hound again for anything. It does beg the question though: why wouldn’t Blue Hound want some of this breakfast action? It’s like they’re not even trying. It’s a business case for a college class. And locking the doors, during the weekday, during daytime hours of all times, on the hotel entrance on Blue Hound’s level, forcing any non-hotel guests down a level, through hotel check-in, and into an elevator, is not helping matters at all. They are losing tremendous foot traffic.

We were meeting a friend for brunch and this place was fairly central for everyone. We weren't super hungry and that made the portion sizes pretty perfect. He has the Downtown Bene, I had the Egg White Frittata and our friend had the Belgian Waffles. There was nothing left over and it was all so delicious. It was a relaxed atmosphere and a very good choice for catching up with a friend.

It was convenient since we were staying at the hotel. But, it’s not a place that we would go out of our way, to dine at. The cocktails were ok drinkable but, nothing special. I had Curiously Quenching—which was very cucumber forward. My husband actually thought his second drink(el Diablo) tasted like how fabulouso the cleaning agent, smells. So, he won’t be ordering drinks there again. Lol. But, his old fashioned was fine. The food was good. My favorite thing was the appetizer Pao de queijo. That cheesy bread was yummy. For entrees my husband had steak & frites. The fries were the best part. I ordered the grilled chicken Al pastor. Which didn’t taste like Al pastor but, was prepared well. The sides were a bit boring and I didn’t eat much of them. It’s definitely a decent place to go, if you’re close by but, I wouldn’t expect anything special. Just Decent food, & decent service.

It's spendy, but a classy joint with a nifty variety on the menu and quick service (even on Friday night).

This review is based on the cocktails and bar service as I only had drinks. Good service,I had the joker which I recommend if you're looking for a citrus drink, the blue hound old fashion was great as well as the atmosphere! Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a dark spirit drink, I have yet to try their food so I'll come back another day to try out their food menu and continue experimenting with their drinks, I heard they have a winter cocktail menu coming December so if you're around definitely give it a try!

We went here for lunch Dec 24th, and everything was tremendous! The food: appetizer, burgers, spicy chicken sandwiches, were very well prepared and the taste was fantastic. The truffle fries were amazing, and a few of us had sweet potato fries also and they were great. Two of us had bloody Mary’s and the spice was at just the right level of heat. Great service too. I don’t always write a review with this many compliments, but Blue Hound deserves it. The food really was tremendous and overall it was a great lunch. Highly recommended!
