This is a long overdue review, if I could give less than 1 stars I would. We took our cat in because he had been limping. Since we weren't allowed in, we waited outside and they called us to let us know he was acting aggressive and wouldn't let them take him out of his cage and that they wanted to put him under anesthesia. That should have been our first red flag. They did x-rays and sent them to us and said they looked normal and did nothing else regarding the limping. They said that he had ear mites and wanted to do an ear wash and prescribe him ear drops. He never had any problems with his ears and we brought him in for LIMPING. Over $300 later, we left feeling more defeated than when we came in. We finally were able to take him to our usual vet a few weeks later and sent them the x-rays. They had no issues taking him out of his cage - they said he was very sweet and loving to them. They said that the x-rays from Camelback Animal Clinic were very bad quality, but even so, they could see an obvious fracture on his hip. They also tested him for ear mites and they said that he just had some residue in his ears but had no signs of ear mites. We called Camelback Animal Clinic shortly after to let them know our experience - the receptionist said she would talk to a vet and never called us back. I am so disappointed in the nonexistent care we received from Camelback Animal Clinic, I hope no one has to experience what we did.

This vet does not care about customer service. He just wants to see how much money he can get from you. Beware of the push for valley fever tests and teeth cleaning regardless of why your bringing your dog in. You have to be your own advocate here or they’ll walk all over you. Take that $900 estimate and cross off all questionable test and you’ll easily get it to under $200. You can’t trust him to just order what is really needed. My dog died months after the vet talked me into having all of his teeth pulled. My dog suffered agonizing pain from inadequate pain medication. Later the tech told me the vet allowed him to practice pulling my dogs teeth out. Another vet told me my dog probably got an infection in his brain from the oral surgery. Dr Cruz never gave me a reason for my dogs deterioration after surgery and eventual death. There is a reason it is so easy to get an appointment here. They can’t keep customers. The location is a total dive. It is cluttered and dirty. They make you wait in the car for hours and get mad when you call for an update. One good employee is Vicky the receptionist.

I’m very happy with the care and patience that Dr. Cruz and his staff had for my two cats, Meatball and Kaboose! Clear communication involving shots/medication’s and cost are very important to me so great job! Thanks Dr.Cruz and Staff!!!

Dr. Cruz and his practice are beyond amazing! I was referred to him years ago when my old lady was just a pup (and he was at his old 40th Street/Indian School location and Brandy was at the front desk) and followed him to his new clinic, even as I now live out of state. I don't mind the 8 hour drive because I know they will receive quality care. He has treated all my dogs with the love, compassion and the personal attention you might get from a small town vet. He even remembers an older dog who passed away and my brother who went with me on a visit or 2. He and his staff explain everything so that you can understand and never speak over your head. Diedre, who works there, is great with helping and stepping in when he gets busy. Some treatments might cost a little more than corporate owned vet clinics but I found that with those other clinics, you're just another another patient and number. He has gone above and beyond for me and my pups on a few occasions, which is more than you would get with another corporate clinic (and I have tried a couple) but the attention is not the same. I don't think I could ever thank him enough for those moments because he knew how much I was relying on him to help me through moments with very sick fur babies. Once in a while I might see his dad helping out and he is the cutest man with a warm smile and I think this is where Dr. Cruz gets him compassion from. In short, Dr. Cruz and his practice are one in a million.

Omg I have been to over a dozen veterinarians across United States and this veterinarian presents as dishonest, extremely rough when examining your pet and I felt as though he could not be trusted. He tried to charge me before he provided any services. Outrageous. Please read the reviews before you waste any time and possibly put your pet at jeopardy of being misdiagnosed or hurt. Not to mention the long wait times. Horrible experience

We had to have our dog put down because she had a stroke and she was very old. The staff and most especially the doctor were very comforting while she and I said our goodbyes. Our dog was in no distress despite the dog in the next room trying to get the other dogs attention. The doctor and assistant helped ease her while I held her throughout the whole process. When the ashes came in they were in a white marble urn and came with a card and information to help thru the grieving. I am very Thankful that they made this a little less painful because they cared.

I took my dog in for a well check for insurance purposes, and he said he didn't feel qualified to fill out the paperwork and to do the exam that was requested by the insurance company.. are you kidding me? What is he qualified for then? If I took her in w an issue, would he pretend to be qualified to make the money?. Oh and by the way, I was still charged a vet visit exam fee, for an exam he wasn't qualified to do. . Again. Are you kidding me

Hello, I'm writing this review because I only want to share my truthful experiences. I'm a first time cat owner in my 50's and it's been a joy. I never knew how much fun Cat's are and they make us smile and laugh. Nicholas is only 1.5 years old now and he adopted me on a hike as a kitten. He was very sick when he was small. The other day he was straining to pee and throwing up. Everything I read on Google said to take him to a Vet asap. My regular vet couldn't get me in. Camelback Animal Clinic did. The ladies are nice and the Vet knows his business. It's always hard knowing what to pay for and what does your pet really need. I believe Dr. Cruise has a passion for helping animals and their owners. He's busy like most vets and they have to do the best they can helping your pet. He called me after hours with test results. The clinic is in my neighborhood and if your reading this and need a vet they will try to help you. It's not easy being a Vet I'm sure and it's not easy being a pet owner sometimes. I wish all your pets the best. I understand. Nicholas is doing good. I'll share more in the future.

I am writing this because I have been there twice, and have nothing but good things to save about Dr Cruz and his staff. They are clear in communicating costs, medical needs, and legal obligations with rabies vaccinations. I will continue to use them for my own animals and the rescues I work with regularly.

Will not provide prices for any services or shots without an initial consultation so afterwards you’re stuck paying whatever they want you to pay. Too many better options to not be at least a little transparent with your prices.

I have been taking our dog here for close to a year. It's a small office but the staff is great. Bilingual staff as well. The vet speaks dog I think. He is super kind and always answers my questions and takes his time. Absolutely recommend.

I've been here once while trying to find a good consistent vet for my dog. He was having an ear infection after having adopted him, and the staff were able to help me out with a low price, and his ear problem went away. He was better in about a week and a half. My dog is huge, a German Shepherd Doberman Mix, and knocked over one of the vets but they took it very nicely and weren't annoyed with him :) I would take him back here for further appointments

Customer service is incredible!!!!!…. The Doctor really takes the time to listen to you!!!. My dogs are old. I was please with the service also I got out with recommendations for my service animals. I did call many times and cancel the appointment because I have a family emergency. Finally I have the chance to come. I glad we did it.

The Vet is incredibly rude, unknowable, and unprofessional. I have taken my dog there multiple times because it was the closest when my dog had an emergency. I have asked that they call me since I am the owner not my mother. He ignores my request every time and calls her. He also told us the wrong doses and caused my dog to hit toxicity level. My dog could no longer walk and had no strength because of how much he upped the dose. I took my dog in and he said he didn’t see anything wrong. I was persistent and they said they would check his blood levels, this is when they found out he was beyond toxicity. He then proceeded to yell at us and say that we shouldn’t have given that much EVEN THOUGH HE TOLD US TO. He also doesn’t send the prescription when we need it and requested it. We called him to let him know it was about to run out and he said he couldn’t do anything, that we had to talk to the pharmacy. The pharmacy said no unless they had the order. We called him again and he got upset and said it was not appropriate for us to call him on a Sunday regardless of what it’s for. He gave us his number for emergencies and gets upset when we call with emergencies. This clinic is way too pricey to have such bad service. The rest of the staff tends to be pretty nice but unfortunately, he is the one in charge. PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE.

This clinic only cares about money. My first appointment was scheduled at 1030 for my dogs ear infection, we arrived on time and the vet did not come into the room until almost 1130. We waited almost an hour just to be seen. The vet was very kind and friendly and he was the only good part of the whole visit. He recommended an ear cleaning and an ear solution to help with the infection. He said he would have someone come talk to us about payment and he left. Another person comes into the room and reads off a list of 10 different things we should purchase for my dog totaling over $350. Several medications were being recommended to us by whoever this person was but none of it was explained or why it would be beneficial for my dog. The actual veterinarian didn’t mention the need for any of that additional medication so we declined and stated we wanted to move forward with only what he recommended. That left a pretty bad taste in our mouth to feel like they just wanted to rack up a bill instead of explain why these would be useful or why the vet didn’t recommend them himself. The person didn’t even introduce themselves or say who they were and has poor people skills. As we were checking out, we scheduled a 2 week check up that the vet recommended to make sure the infection was gone and that he would get us all taken care of. They did a great job cleaning her ears and it seemed to work pretty well healing the infection. I had the 2 week up check up today only for them to tell me it was another $45 for the check up and that the infection was still present and we needed another $45 solution. I told them that I thought the check up would be included with the almost $200 bill I already paid and was being scheduled as part of that initial visit. If you are going to schedule follow up appointments that seem to be included with initial visits, you should simply communicate the additional fees for that. $300 for an ear infection in only 1 ear is absurd. This place really makes you feel like they are only here to make as much money off of you as possible and have extremely poor communication and customer service skills which I told them in person. I do not recommend and will not be back.

How long is it that you should wait from the time of your appointment, just to give a vaccine? 1:30 hours more? to lose that time, I can do it at home ..... without having to put up with bad faces from the employees !! Thank you for being able to schedule my appointment for my pet, but it would have been great if they had attended me.

This clinic is very expensive for those that don't have the resources that others may have. They helped my momma cat and we're very knowledgeable, professional. Cost is high.

I give the whole team above 5 stars and I just referred the owner of my apartments to Dr.Cruz because he is looking for a veterinarian. These people have been doing an awesome job with my little teacup Chihuahua.

This scumbag of a doctor pressured my elderly mother to pay for over $500 in unnecessary tests when it was clear her dog had a minor ear infection. No valley fever, heartworm or any other respiratory symptoms were ever displayed. Then he had the audacity to call her back for a paid follow-up even though her dog was fine after taking some regular antibiotic. Avoid this place at all costs, there are far better and honest options out there.

I did a lot of research and have gone to a few different places. I liked how quickly they could see my pet, and how good the price was. Definitely coming back.

Below is my experience with Camelback Animal Clinic: - the people that work there, including the veterinarian, are very kind. They are nice on the phone and in person, never had an issue. - this clinic's patient flow policies are unlike any I have seen before. They will not allow anyone into the clinic, patients and their owners must wait in the car to drop off the pet as well as pick it up. This isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world, and I understand it is likely a concern relating to COVID 19, but it is in inconvenience to me as a customer. - for heartworm, the veterinarian uses a 6-month injection which is quite convenient and cost equal to the standard monthly Heartgard. When I called to get my next 6-month supply I was told I had to pay a $35 examination fee from the vet. This may be common practice, but to me this seems like a policy that ensures revenue for the clinic. To avoid paying this fee, I tried to have Chewy send request for a prescription, but the clinic would not approve the request and instead would only write me a hand-written prescription. No place locally that I can find will fill the prescription. I know I can find a solution to my problem but it seems like the vet's policies are set to make these seemingly padded charges the only frictionless option. All in all, the vet did good work but their customer service and patient flow policies waste too much of my time, so I am finding another vet.
