I’d nearly scarfed down a half plate of yummy Orange Chicken when I got a wild hair to do a Google review on this place. So, forgive the partially eaten lunch in my photos. I’ve been dining here for a handful of years and am always amazed at how quickly after you order, they can get a plate of hot food onto your table. It’s kind of scary. The food is consistently good. My favorite dish is - no secret here – Spicy Orange Chicken. The prices are reasonable as well. The wait staff are polite, efficient, and never in any danger of being slapped with a Chatty Cathy label. These folks rarely ever speak to the customers. I used to worry that the staff were trafficked slaves; strictly forbidden to do anything more than race around taking orders and delivering plates, while desperately trying to keep their dark secrets to themselves. I even imagined them bound and gagged underneath the floorboards each night after the place closed. Since none of the workers ever slipped me a note pleading for immediate police assistance, I figured I was overthinking things and the staff likely worked here because they wanted to. Meantime, my only gripe with this place is that the exterior looks hideous and uninviting.

My absolute new favorite Chinese restaurant, I had been looking for some delicious cream cheese puffs and these were what I was looking for - so incredibly delicious. I walked and ordered takeout and it was ready in less than 10 minutes - service was excellent too.

Stopped by this hidden gem in downtown Phoenix and I was quite surprised! This place is an old fashioned original Chinese dining experience! The service was stellar and the food has so much flavor! Easily one of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever been to in Arizona! Highly recommend checking this place out! I'll definitely be back!

I had forgotten about this little gem of a restaurant. It was nice to come back and get reacquainted with the restaurant and the location. They have amazing food and large portions. Service is quick and fast. The servers are friendly and patient if you need them to be. The menu is quite large and has tons of options 😋 to choose from. We ordered sizzling rice soup, pan Fried Noodles, and cashew chicken. Hot tea for a beverage because it was so chilly outside. The soup and tea hit all the right spots to cast the spell of coldness. We will definitely be dining here more often. Happy eating 😋.

Been here a couple times over the years, most recently the other day. I have heard a lot of people rave about this place. I think it’s good, but overhyped. We had the orange chicken and Mongolian beef. The chicken is breaded and crispy, with good flavor. The Mongolian beef was also pretty tasty. Some of these items are classified as spicy, but I do not find them spicy at all. I wish they would make them more spicy. The other thing that I noticed was the floor needed to be vacuumed, as there were a lot of little pieces of paper and miscellaneous items on the floor under some of the tables.

If you like onions, then this is your place! I ordered the Phoenix meal for 3 and the Mongolian beef was an extreme disappointment! (See picture, 5 times more onions than beef) I should have just ordered the house fried rice as a meal(included beef, chicken, and whole shrimp!) Regretfully, this first time will be my last.

Genuinely the best ma po tofu I've ever had in my life; so these guys are pretty high on my list of favorite Chinese places! Everything is clean (yes, including the bathrooms), the staff are so kind and patient, the prices are super reasonable, and their food always tastes so fresh and delicious! Every dish I've tried from them are noteworthy, and they are FAST. If you're in a rush on your lunch break, they will have you in and out in less than half an hour. If you're not in a rush, they are courteous and pace dishes very well. Lunch dishes come with rice, egg roll, soup, AND your dish- so much food! This place is a must-try for everyone ❤️ Whether you prefer traditional dishes, or the common orange chicken, they have something for you!

Do not recommend. I was traveling and saw they had great reviews and decided to go. It was not good at all. I ordered sesame chicken and it was meat covered in sauce. No flavor at all! The ONLY good part of lunch is that it was $25 for two people. But you get what you pay for...

Not a true 5 stars, but 5 stars for the limited Chinese food here in Phoenix. 4 stars is more accurate but the fact that it is one of the only places in Phoenix that serves Peking duck automatically bumps it up to 5! If this place were closer to where i live, i would go frequently, but 15 miles away makes it one of those occasional restaurants. Went here specifically for the Peking duck and ended up ordering $150 worth of dishes for a family of 4. Everything was good, not LA, NY, San Fran or even Vegas Chinatown good, but pretty good for Phoenix. Service was superfast! We ordered 13 dishes and we got bombarded with every one if them coming out within 10 min and pretty much all at the same time. It was a bit overwhelming but we planned this outing a few weeks prior, so it was also very gratifying.

This is a great restaurant and quite a bit bigger than most small Chinese restaurants in town. You will often see Chinese families ordering and dining here as well. It has been here for a long time and quite often how special events like anniversary parties for Chinese couples. Parking is a little odd some of it faces 3rd Street and there is a door. There is also some parking on the other side of the restaurant and there is a door on that side too. So don't get frustrated if there are no parking spots out front just circle around and either park on the side or in the back. It's a pretty standard Chinese menu and everything seems to be delicious! I have noticed over the years sometimes Chinese people ordering dishes that aren't on the menu. Apparently the kitchen is very flexible and will cook to order if you don't want to order...

I want to give them 5 stars and I'm sure they will earn it next time. The service was excellent, plates were cleared promptly and refills offered ahead of time. Patience was given when helping a special needs guest. The area was very clean and gently decorated. There was sufficient staff to provide for prompt service. The food was done right. Possibly the best Mongolian Beef I have ever had. And I'm no fan of chicken, but my guest had it, and it was the prettiest sweet and sour chicken I have ever seen. The egg rolls were cut at an angle and displayed in a nice arrangement, but they were done a bit too hard in my opinion: they were crunchy and dark as if overcooked. I'm not familiar with their normal, but it was well done compared to the darkest ones I've had in my life. The steamed sticky rice was served in a cool fashion on the saucer with the bowl covering it, which kept it warm longer. The noodles, amazing flavor, perfectly cooked. Why 4 stars you ask? Although we arrived at 810 for a 900 closing time, it took some extra time to order because, like most places, they did not have an ADA picture menu available. So I had to Google some items to show my guest pictures to see what he liked, and doing one picture at a time was a little time staking, atleast I knew things he did or did not like already, or it would have taken longer. But the real kicker was at 846, the lady whose assignment was to refill all the sauce bottles on the tables, stopped at our table soon after we got dug into our entrees, and before we even opened our rice. She had no way to know she would startle my deaf mute and half blind guest, but she did by stepping to the empty seat between him and the wall, to get the bottles on the table. She did ask first, and I just quickly agreed the ones in the caddy weren't being used, and wanted to get back to this most amazing Mongolian Beef ever. But the two bottles sitting next to my plates, she asked if we were done with them too. I said I was still using them. She didn't seem happy. Everything else was really well done from start to finish. I believe in sharing feedback and wanted to make sure that I wrote it on my credit card slip I signed, and wanted to be sure the boss saw it. So I carried the tray from the table and another guy must have worried I was running off with it and came to get it so I asked for the boss and he went to the back and the boss lady was right out there instantly. I explained what happened and she apologized and said she would watch better, and make sure thst didn't happen again. I was grateful, and around the wall was the lady who had done it an she peeked around and explained what she had to do, I told her I truly understood but you just don't remove things from a table while people are still eating. She also apologized and thanked me for the advice, and the boss repeated her apology and promise to improve. I totally believe my next visit here will have me editing my review to 5 stars. I appreciated the candor in management as well as the person against whom my dissatisfaction was. And one last time, I repeat, the food is absolutely everything the reviews say about it and the service as well.

First time and will definitely revisit. We shared the dinner for 2 people called "phoenix" and it was more than enough with the need to take few boxes home. We liked everything that was included it was all very tasty! The staff was really friendly and constantly walked around cleaning and providing refills on our teas. Only suggestion would be to remodel the outside of the building and their sign to make it look more inviting and exciting to go to.

It's a popular spot and I have always enjoyed their food. The guys that had dinner with me ordered the meal for two and was close to $35 when they could have ordered their own dish the only thing extra they got was a small bowl of soup, a salad, and some crab puffs for an extra $15 or so. Sharing plates seems like the thing to do there they have a spinning table. I would recommend going there and trying your own meal. The price came out to roughly $55 if I remember correctly for three people. At dinner time the entrees increase in price which is typical to $10.95 each. From what I remember they have a decent lunch menu and it's much cheaper and seems like the portions are bigger.

I spotted this restaurant a few weeks ago and craved some Chinese food. I went in and peeped the scenery. The dinning room was packed and it smelt great inside. I was seated and chowed down. Portion size were great and so was the price. I recommend this place most Chinese food places here in Phoenix is trash but this place was great.

My favorite Chinese food in the greater Phoenix area. I'm a simple eater. I love their orange chicken. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crunch. So glad they are back open for in house dining. Would give more than 5 stars if I could.

I was really craving some good Chinese food and I was recommended to go here. I had been here a long time ago however I didn't remember or should I say I guess it wasn't that memorable the first time. It was okay but I've had better. My friend ordered the tomato chicken and we were both baffled cuz we could not find any chicken but there was a whole lot of tomatoes. The staff was friendly. I'd say they could really use a remodel though the interior is dated. I kind of got the feeling I was on a old cruise ship 😁

Ordered the Peking Duck, they gave us mission flour tortillas and hoisin sauce...the duck skin was not crispy, and the meat tasted steamed. The soup was decent, but nothing to write home about. Overall pretty disappointed.

Really enjoyed my visit to China Chili. It felt like a very authentic Chinese restaurant when I walked in. The waiter was very helpful and knew the menu really well, and the food came out fast. It tasted really good as well, but It felt a bit Americanized. still the flavor was great and I ate it all. The wontons were very good as well. It is a little pricey, but honestly worth it every once and a while.

  • 5/5 DulbertVelencia Y. 7 months ago on Google
The food is wonderful! So is the service! Very clean! Only little problem is the space. I've seen this business grow in popularity and extending your restaurant by opening up the floor was a great move but there's still a line to wait for tables and also parking can be an issue. I would think of expanding by relocating to a bigger building but then again, the location ,is already great. Why ruin a good thing!?thank you

  • 3/5 Robert D. 6 months ago on Google
Not my favorite option for Chinese. The tomato chicken was far too sweet, almost a dessert. The orange chicken was really well prepared (moist, tender) but very skimpy on the sauce. Hot & sour soup & pot stickers in peanut sauce both tasted too powerfully of vinegar. Service was fast & friendly.

This is definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve ever been to! It has a very authentic & elegant atmosphere & the service is amazing! We received our food quickly despite it being a lunch time rush hour. We also received large portions of food for a very reasonable price. All 3 of us ordered the orange chicken which was hands down the best orange chicken I’ve ever had! Our server even boxed up our left over food to go for us. I will come back next time we’re craving Chinese!

AVOID! This is one of the worst Chinese restaurants we've eaten at, anywhere in the US (dine-in and take-out). We've been here 3 times, vowing never to go back after the 1st two times -- but now tried it for our 3rd (and definitely final) time. We've tried 4 or 5 different dishes -- all terrible except for Chinese broccoli (hard to ruin it). As examples (see photos below), the menu describes the Mongolian Chicken as "Sliced tender white meat chicken sauteed with scallions and ginger in a savory seasoned sauce with hot peppers". Note there is a mention of "scallions", but NO mention of "onions" (other dishes specifically mention "onions"); yet the dish was literally two-third onions (see photo below - yes those are ALL just onions), and the amount of onions was probably 7 or 8 times the amount of chicken. Another example, the menu describes the Prawns in Lobster Sauce as "Stir-fried prawns in black beans, garlic, bell pepper, onions and egg whites in a traditional sauce". Note there is NO mention of water chestnuts or mushrooms; yet the dish was literally over half water chestnuts (see photo below - yes, those are ALL just water chestnuts covered with a tasteless brown sauce), about 20% mushrooms, about 20% onions, and several bland shrimp. We've had similar experiences with their Mu Shoo dishes (mostly shredded cabbage & mushrooms, with little chicken or pork) and curried chicken (lots of bell peppers and onions). And to add insult to injury, most dishes had no real flavor. Over 25+ years, we've eaten in several hundred Chinese restaurants -- whether in Hong Kong, NYC, SF, LA, Chicago, Seattle, Boston etc (cities where one would expect A+ Chinese food), or in places where we expect nothing outstanding but there are still some real gems (Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Kansas City, Charlotte, Minneapolis, etc). China Chili has been among the worst Chinese restaurants that we've experienced, despite giving it 3 tries. If you find some dishes you like here, good for you! Most people might do much better, and for far less money, at Panda Express.

When I first moved to Phoenix this was one of the first restaurants I tried. Since then it has been a staple of my favorite restaurant. The atmosphere has unique Chinese portraits, a unique atmosphere the restaurant is clean and the staff is very attentive. You must try the orange chicken this is genuine orange chicken far from the cries of Americanized version. Another of my favorite is the half roasted duck of you never tried duck you will be in for delicious surprise as an appetizer ask for the prongs. I recommend this restaurant.

A few friends of ours meet yearly, and one of them recommended this place. I was hesitant with how busy it was, but we were beyond pleased with our experience. The servers were kind and attentive, and the food, the food was sooooo good. Everyone loved their selections for the 12 of us. The orange chicken, was the best I have ever had. It's the one time we had such a large group, and I was able to see and hear everyone. Really really looking forward to next time.

The food is great! A lot of different items on the menu. I got the Tangy Lemon Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Thai Noodles, and plain Lo Mein. All very tasty and it came out extremely fast. Service was nothing above ordinary. No server stood out but all my questions were answered promptly and my drink was never empty. It's also an older building and the interior could use an upgrade. But overall great choice in the downtown area.
