Excellent place, got to be there as I had opted for hot air balloon ride. Very calm and peaceful experience, got to say very well maintained and cleaned. There are huge cactus plants which seem ages old can be found in here. Absolute treat to watch them so close and the combination with Hot Air balloon ride made it 5 star experience

This is an amazing trail! The start is flat but then quickly ascends up a steep hill for a challenging workout. Once at the top you can go two ways. The left is a shorter Trail with a little elevation and then descends into a neighborhood. To the right gives you more challenge of diverse Terrain. As you keep hiking you will eventually hit two vistas. Great workout and beautiful stunning views! One of my new favorite hikes!

Very nice natural trail to walk, it’s with rocks and soil. Not that hard to walk. I went there during January, around 3 30pm. Climate was good. Walked for around 2 hrs and returned. Take enough water while walking… it’s scenic place and easy to cover…

Great trail, safe parking, restrooms, and then MANY different trails of varying difficulty. If it has recently rained, you will see tons of desert flowers. Enjoy!

I love it here, the park is really taken care of and the amenities are nice too with private bathrooms with sinks outside. The only downfall is there is absolutely ZERO shade at all. You think with it being the Phoenix Preserve they would consider putting some parking covers in the parking lots. They shut it down in the summer when it's too hot outside so they are aware just how hot it can get up there. It would make it so much more enjoyable.

This huge preserve is splendid, well maintained, and clearly labeled trails, excellent bathroom facilities, ample parking. The trails were not crowded, plenty of challenging single-track for Mountain bikers. It is spring and everything is blooming. Owls 🦉 vultures, coyotes, javalinas and more...

I did the Apache Wash Trail which was 6.6 miles yesterday. There were a few people out and it wasn't crowded but it was a Monday. The people I came across were polite and followed hike etiquette.

This place now has restrooms and water fountain. The drive to trailhead is through residential area. We can hike multiple trails from here to suit length and elevation gain. When we hiked early afternoon on 12/29/2022 heard some animals in the far distance, someone in the comments said wolves but they did not sound like howling. Coyotes maybe?

The preserve is a wonderful hiking and wildlife refuge area. It has a nature walk which is easily accessible and informative about the plants and animals that live in the preserve. You can walk, hike, mountain bike or on the many trails through the area that is part of the larger Phoenix trail system. A most enjoyable place to contemplate and enjoy the sounds of nature.

The preserve is divided into 3 trailheads: Desert Vista, Desert Hills, and Apache Wash. All 3 provide great hiking paths and beautiful views of the North Phoenix desert. I took my German Shepherd in early April, and it was a little warm, so make sure to take lots of water! The preserve is fairly large, so I recommend downloading the Avem app, it will help you find each trailhead, restrooms, and drinking fountains, and even gives you the option to view the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve map. Have fun out there and stay safe!

It was a great time. The trails were clean and had enough challenge to make for a wonderful morning without being too difficult to be painful. Love this place. We come here pretty often. Lots of natural life too. Plenty of quail, hummingbirds, and rabbits. Seen coyote a few times and even a rattlesnake once. But they keep to themselves. Will be back many more times.

Fun mountain biking trails, but no real shade unless you go in the morning. And I would go in the morning; it gets real hot real quick. Trails are a good workout, with ups and downs and turns. Lots of loose rocks make for a bumpy ride. Watch for hikers! I found everyone I encountered polite and friendly so let's keep it that way! :) Bring lots of water and be prepared to sweat! There are a few parking lots at various places. I rode in from the neighborhood nearby. Trails are marked as well. Nice views from the higher parts. We saw ballooners one day! Watch for rabbits and lizards as well. And cactus. Lots of cactus. There are some shorter loops that are kid-friendly.

It is a must stop before entering the trail. It has enough parking space as well as 2 restrooms that are clean and well designed.

Plenty of parking, for horsetrailers too. Bathroom and water at trailhead, beautiful clean trails, well marked, too. I took the D loop in about 1.5 hours and returned to lot via hawk nest trail.

Great place to start your hike to Dixie Mountain to watch the amazing sunset from that peak! Most of the trail to the summit is boring, but the views from the top make it all worth it,

  • 4/5 Mike P. 6 months ago on Google
Well marked trail, not difficult. Take water, it gets hot and there is no shade.

  • 5/5 Nathan L. 6 months ago on Google
Nice little trail, hiked it at dusk and needed a light to finish it. Pretty place to watch a sunset and see the skyline! Hiked it with a 40lb bag as preparation for some longer hikes planned ahead and it was a decent beginners route! Clear path and only slight elevation changes. Would recommend!

This was a really cool hike. It is more up hill than anything so make sure you are in shape to do it. Most of the hikers spoke and were kind. Really good scenery and pet friendly. Free parking.

I regularly hike the Apache Wash trail, it's super fun, and there's always a bit of wildlife to be found if you're quiet and have your eyes open. The trailheads do not have potable water, so be sure to bring some from home!

Very nice hike for being so close to town. We hike here often when we don't have time to travel outside of Phoenix. There are a few different hikes most are easy to moderate.

Phenomenal landscape and views! Seen my 1st rattlesnake this season, just about 30-36" in length crossing the trail. Trails are rocky which I don't mind but I know some are sensitive of. Parking lot was full when I was leaving at 9:45am so ppl were searching for spaces.

I hiked 4 miles on the Dixie Loop Trail which was littered with beautiful wildflowers like lupine last Sunday. I am convinced the weather gods were looking down on me. Please take a break from the regularly scheduled depressing news and enjoy our local hiking trails. It’s easy to practice social distancing and it’s fun.

The facilities at the trail base were clean and well kept. The trails are well marked and easily accessible with amazing views. We felt safe here with access to a cell signal on all trails, in case of an emergency.

Lots of great trails through lots of diverse desert. Many choices of trails as well and there are some hills/mountains to hike as well. The trails seem to be in pretty good condition. Along the Verde trail there is a great stance of saguaros.
