We stopped here on a whim & I'm so glad we did! Being from the east coast it felt a little surreal walking around all the cacti, plants & wildlife but this place is absolutely stunning. There is plenty to see, you could easily spend several hours walking around. It's very clean & the staff is very knowledgeable & down to earth. The gardens are so calming & relaxing, I couldn't stop smiling the entire time. As someone else said pictures are great but it is so much better in person. Truly a wonderful experience!

Such a wonderful visit! I probably haven't been here in 30 years. I'm so glad I was given the opportunity to go with the family. We had such a lovely time. Perfect weather and sunset. Many great photos. It was great to bring my son, who is the same age I was the last time I came. Everyone really enjoyed the Chihuly exhibit. We came right before sunset so we could enjoy it both in the sunlight and lit up after dark.

One of the most beautiful botanical gardens I have been to. Very scenic and beautiful. The paths are lovely and have good summaries and signage to give you information on what you are looking at. During the evening a part of the garden was closed for event. The ticket to get in was $30 for an adult. I hope there are opportunities to discounted fares to make the garden more affordable.

This place is heaven on earth. I leave a lot of reviews and have rarely wished to lavish such praise. If you don’t leave five stars you maybe should talk to your therapist. This is incredible!!! It is massive and in reality you could easily spend 3 to 4 hours here appreciating the expanse of desert plants and flowers and sculpture. It is beyond beautiful and I would argue one of the finest collections of such natural wonders on the planet. The staff are professional and passionate, the grounds are modern and kept, there are all sorts of possibilities for events as well and whatever you might need as a visitor for hydration or food if you must. I just felt totally calm and at peace and by the way, there are hundreds of birds and I mean of all varieties but most of all we saw so many hummingbirds playing together and they are quite curious, I snagged a photo. This is an instance where the photos are beautiful but the place is better in real life. The natural world is in abundance here and it will, it should connect with your soul. Enjoy!

It's a botanical garden - not sure what else to explain. There's rocks, there's about a million cacti/flowers/shrubs, and there's plenty of interesting, beautiful, and frightening stuff in between it all. The garden is maintained to a very high standard, it's all clean, has plenty of amenities for those who need them, and has an attached dining establishment (Gertrude's) that's quite nice as well! The membership is worth it if you enjoy exploring at a slower pace or revisiting for the tranquility of it all. We usually go a few times a year and enjoy taking family and friends to visit for the first time.

It is a wonderful place in Phoenix, Arizona, and I can strongly say that you will definitely enjoy the time you spend here. I was on transit in Arizona, and was thinking about how to spend my long layover. When I checked, I found this place, which is very close to the airport! I called a taxi and visited the place. It was a well-worth visit of at least half a day! This is very useful, especially for botany students and nature lovers. This is incredible!!! You may experience desert plants, flowers, and sculptures, which are beyond beautiful!! The staff are professional and friendly. I felt very peaceful! I should make a special note that there is a canteen where you can enjoy delicious food too. A location that will completely exceed your expectations!! You can enjoy it thoroughly.

The place is so serene, peaceful, well-designed and maintained that it it helps you remember why we can still love Arizona. Because it’s surely not for its divisive politics. I loved seeing all the fall family/engagement photo shoots take place here as well. Which means they will not discourage if you pay the entrance fee. Every penny was worth it, even if you aren’t doing a photo shoot. The gorgeous art work juxtapose the desert landscape in a brilliant way. And the butterfly garden is a treat. Fabulous descriptions of the cacti and plants and their significance to the ecosystem. And open late during certain times of the year when lighting comes on at “golden hour” to make the place sparkle. It’s a desert museum worth seeing whether you live or are visiting Phoenix.

My wife and I came to visit the desert botanical gardens in Phoenix Arizona. First of all if you can visit in the spring that is an incredible time. We went in early March and the weather was simply gorgeous. We followed the path and started with the main entrance followed by the butterfly Mariposa event which showed hundreds of species of various butterflies. If you wait till it gets warmer they will start to land on you. Try to see everything we've listed here on the pictures. Especially the one cactus that has the unique head on it. The story of cabrina the artist is truly inspiring and has a sad story about the car accident he experienced, but how he continued to still find a way to be a great artist and sculptor. The only request I would have asked is for those who have served our country as veterans give them some discount on the ticket. There are no discounts for any reason. Lastly make sure you come prepared with lots of water.

This garden is always incredible and I go quite often! Right now Chihuly glass is on display and it’s a must see! You have to book a time on their website, we went at 5:30 and got to see the glass right before the sun went down and stayed until seven while the glass was all lit up! It’s gorgeous either way! I think the glass is there until June, it would be neat to combine the blooming cactus in April or May with the glass so I will definitely go back a second, third and fourth time! Just gorgeous! The walking paths are easy and accessible to wheelchairs and there are benches to sit on if you need a break. They have a butterfly garden around the same time that the cactus will be blooming that is definitely worth seeing! And the gift shop is full of gorgeous jewelry, plants, books, clothing and pottery that I just can’t get enough of!

Beautiful place. Restaurant food is awesome. It's a bit expensive on admissions, though. $24.95. We were not aware that every 2nd Tuesday is free and plan on doing that next time. The restaurant prices are moderate, the service is exceptional and the food quality is absolutely fantastic! By the way, if you just want to take the road trip, drive through, and enjoy the restaurant at the admission gate, just tell them you're going yo the restaurant. You don't have to pay additional fees.

This is an amazing space! Be sure to go LEFT when you enter!!! Much more impressive and beautiful with longer paths and amazing cacti everywhere. Also go on a weekday. Going right is more of an educational piece and has short paths… not a bad thing, but also wish I had gone left first ;) and for those of you visiting the area for a month or more you can get a Library Card and get 2 free passes!!!

Is a very interesting place to visit. So much to learn about the plant life in Arizona. We walked 11kms so be prepared with good footwear. We also ate at Gertrude's restaurant there. There was a 30+ min wait as it was very busy but our server was very nice. The food was interesting and cooked well. Price was reasonable. Worth visiting for sure. Bring water (there are a number of filling stations to refill) and make sure you have a hat and sun block as it gets quite warm.

I've been to a few botanical gardens around the world and this one is certainly unique! It's a great place for dates or something to do on a nice day in Arizona. You can learn about all of the plants and animals around or just enjoy the stroll and how beautiful it all is. I've been here a couple of times but the Chihuly exhibit at night was stunning. The way the art pieces are placed with the lighting at sunset is incredible. Highly recommend this to anyone local or visiting.

What a great way to kick off our trip, by seeing all the different desert plants. I loved seeing the very large ones. We are here in late February. I definitely would not want to be there in the dead of summer without a lot of sun protection. Note there are water fountains placed throughout the garden,

The gardens are a wonderful place for a stroll. Really interesting types of cacti and succulents. There’s also a demo garden where they grow local vegetables and fruits as a tutorial on how you can do it yourself here in AZ. They normally donate the garden veggies to a local food bank but it’s closed now during the virus. However, they delivered a batch of very fresh out of the garden veggies to me just now to give to my senior neighbors. They’re doing a delivery cycle all around central Phoenix. Fabulous. Love them!

My MIL bought my hubby and I tickets back in January. We should have gone in February when it was cooler outside, but we were dawdling about and didn’t get here. Then COVID happened and they closed down for a bit. As soon as they opened, we popped in the car and came for a visit! We came first thing in the morning, shortly after they opened, so that the weather would be a bit cooler. That was a smart decision! There are some shady areas, but not a ton. There are water fountains, bottle refill stations, and bathrooms throughout the garden. There are large plastic animals all over the gardens, which are lovely in helping you remember where you’ve been. They are a cute touch! Meerkats, an elephant, wolves, bunnies, penguins, etc. The trails are easy to follow and impossible to get off course as they are clearly marked. Most of the plants are labeled, but not all of them. We saw a wide variety of cacti and plants. We came in the beginning of July and there wasn’t much that was flowering, but still very pretty. We saw a lot of little lizards and bunnies. There were a few roadrunners, butterflies, hummingbirds, and pocket mice. The Plant Shop was in the Garden Shop when we were there. There was a very nice variety of things you could buy with a small variety of plants. Such a good experience and an enjoyable date! We definitely recommend to new Arizonans and those looking to experience the wilderness, wildlife, and plant life.

Absolutely Amazing! We had such a great time at the botanical gardens. Since being from Ohio, it felt like we were on an alien planet with all the unique plants and environment. The garden was a great way to see the variety of plants and learn about the ecosystem of the desert. On top of the standard botanical garden delivery, there are Chihuly glass sculptures nestled into the gardens. My crew spent over two hours walking the grounds. Our experience matched the value of the price of admission.

This was hands down the best experience I have had at a botanical garden. I visited in March, which meant great weather. I was able to get around without an issue thanks to the signage and the clear trails on the map. Even though there were many visitors, there was ample space for everyone to walk around without being too close to each other. The butterfly exhibit was fantastic! I would go back just to spend more time here. The grounds are so well maintained and the staff were all super friendly and welcoming. When i go back to Arizona i will definitely be leaving space in my plans for a second visit here.

A beautiful botanical garden filled with desert plants, which isn’t like most botanical gardens. It was hotter than hell the day I went but there are good spots to sit and relax. There are also plenty of water fountains throughout. A beautiful art exhibit as well (thru March ‘24). The butterfly exhibit is a highlight. Bring sunscreen!

The Desert Botanical Garden is easily one of the best places to get married in Arizona. As a wedding photographer it's hard not to love all of the beautiful scenery. But on top of that, the staff at the garden are so amazing and friendly. Whether it's for an engagement session or a wedding, not one of my clients has been anything less than blown away by how much they've loved their experience there.

Desert Botanical Garden is the most beautiful Botanical garden I’ve ever seen and one of my favorite places in the world (not kidding)! There are several different trails that take you around the garden where you can see various desert vegetation, small animals, and birds. I used to visit the garden very often before quarantine and it’s always been such a pleasure coming here! I really like that they have different events every now and then, like chocolate festivals, the light show, scary garden for Halloween, plant sales, and so on. One time they even had ponies! So it never gets boring! If you visit the garden, make sure to check out the butterfly pavilion as well, you won’t be disappointed! Oh and as a bonus point, they have a nice restaurant that serves really good food. You can also always get a glass of wine and walk around the garden with it!

A must see spot! So beautiful and clean. 2 suggestions: 1. Heed the advice left from former visitors on Yelp, and website: Do not wear open-top shoes, nor sandals unless you like dust and pebbles between your toes; and 2. Make reservations in advance, as place gets sold out, including any exhibitions. Enjoy!

The Botanical Gardens in Phoenix are gorgeous! I like the way they have the gardens split up into several shorter trails, so you can easily stop by for just a little while or spend the entire day wandering the whole gardens. There are several water fill-up stations spread throughout, which came in very handy as we adjusted to the heat after moving here.

Very Beautiful garden! The pics are amazing, but seeing this place with your own eyes is even better! Definitely go when the weather is nice & cool and the sun doesn't burn. If you're into nature, plants, and taking in lovely views go check it out! Went during the Chihuly in the Desert exhibit. Also, make sure to get reservations before going because some times they don't allow walk-ins.

Serene and calming, this random "on a whim" stop turned out to be better than anticipated. I love botanical gardens, especially the care taken in curating them- this one in particular is teeming with desert flora AND fauna. The staff are friendly, and judging by the thriving plants, and booming animal and insect population, they're doing great! Take your time and pay attention to each section you go through. Every time there's a rustling in the brush, you're usually rewarded with some playful lizards, timid rabbits or fiendishly hungry baby chipmunks. Birds flit and call throughout the garden, letting visitors peer into their behavior and characteristics. If nature and curated desert plants wasn't enough, there's art currently sprawled throughout the space, changing as the scape does with the lighting. Plaques are posted throughout with identifications, facts and more, easily inviting you to look and explore further. Well worth the visit, and highly recommended! My only complaint is there were multiple sections closed off for a private event, but then again, who can blame them? This is truly a magical place! Free parking, maps provided and gift shop and well maintained bathrooms are all present to boot!

Went on a Saturday night for their flashlight event! So much fun and the weather was enjoyable at that time. I went at 7:30pm and wish I would've gone at 7pm for some better sunset photos and to see way more as flashlights can only do so much. They have ton of little things all throughout the garden for children to do as well at night. I don't have kids so I can't speak much on that part. They also have a nice little gift shop. Multiple drinking fountains with bottle fill ups throughout the garden. Very well taken care of and would visit, again.

The Desert Botanical Garden is Amazing!! I definitely will come back again. I purchased my tickets online which they prefer you to buy them online but you can purchase them there too. It was super easy to order online. You find the tickets tab and it goes step by step then they ask you what day and time you want to go. So you chose that and then pay for it. You get a QR code after that you can screen shot or they will send you a confirmation email. I had to reschedule for a later time then what I chose and that process was easy too. In the email they send you there is an option to reschedul that you click on. They have a beautiful gift shop and if you are hungry there is a restaurant their called Gertrude's. I didn't eat there but I did go to the gift shop. The Garden is Amazing. They had a butterfly area and I saw a lot of other animal life (geckos/lizards/a snack/hummingbird/dragonfly/butterflies/prairie dog)and etc.. There is so much to see and it is beautiful

My wife and I had a pleasant visit here and did it comfortably in about 2 hours, including the gift shop. They truly put a lot of love and care into the multiple trails and plants. There are also plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife such as rabbits, ground squirrels, roadrunners, quail, and so on. Don't worry about not bringing enough water, as there are plenty of free water bottle refill stations with cold and tasty water which was much appreciated. Lastly, if you're a local or have flexibility, check their website to find their freebie day to save a few bucks.

Just the right size for me whose attention span for such things is a couple hours or so. Very nice grounds with meandering sidewalks and beautiful landscapes. Our interactions with the staff and rangers were great. The butterfly exhibit was (for me) surprisingly engaging. Parking was free and easy. Folks using wheelchairs I think would find lots of paths that work here. Lots and lots of pokey plants so watch those young kids!

Beautiful gardens that I'm sure are magnificent during spring and the peak blooming season! You could easily spend a half-day or full day exploring these unique desert habitats and environments. Many plants are labelled and there are some information boards throughout the gardens, but I think that it would be helpful to have a lot more. For this reason, I think most people would probably enjoy and benefit from a tour, which happen at 9/10/11 am respectively. I was disappointed not to receive any info about the tours when we checked in; we were just handed a map and told to enjoy. Granted, we did go on a FREE day (second Tuesday of every month) and it was very busy. It was actually uncomfortably busy for us arriving at midday, and we were tripping on people for the first hour or two. Nearly all the grounds are stroller-, wheelchair- and mobility scooter-friendly since the garden paths are all paved or dirt-packed. I don't know if I would pay full price to come here, at just shy of $65 USD for 2 adults and a child. I wish there was an affordable option for kids under 5. It always seems like a cash grab when young children are charged at high rates for activities that are largely aimed at adults. All that said, I'm so glad there is a free community day available. I'd recommend arriving either in the early morning or late afternoon if you want a quiet, slower pace for your garden explorations.

The Desert Botanical Garden was amazing with the various species of desert plants, cactus, & the natural desert landscape that surrounds the Botanical Garden. There is a fairly inexpensive restaurant as well. Perfect for families, the elderly, & handicapped with strollers, wheelchairs, & motorized wheelchair scooters for a small fee. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit, but be prepared to walk the trails & see the quails running wild. Low cost entrance fee makes for a fun Day Trip.

Wide variety of desert plants. A must visit if you’re in Phoenix and curious about the local plant life. They also have a wonderful selection of global desert plants. Very tranquil to go by yourself or with friends. I saw a wide variety of native birds there too that you won’t see downtown. They have wonderful events and partnerships with artists too. I’ve been in August and December, both beautiful times

Never a bad day when you can visit the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix,AZ It sits on 140 acres. I am a desert creature by heart and learn something new each time I visit. Beautiful displays, which still includes some glass pieces by Chihuly on display. Crested saguaros are a treat to see and the wildlife goes without mention..beautiful, peaceful settings. Quiet nooks in and around the Garden to sit and observe. Love this special Point of Pride landmark.

Our family loves coming here. It is relaxing, and so peaceful. We enjoy it so much that my fiance' proposed to me by one of the fountains, and it was the perfect setting. The roses were in bloom, hummingbirds zipping around us, and everything felt magical. Plus, the garden has so many fun activities, and events. I mean... just look at all these snails! One of my favorite installations they've done.

A unique botanical garden. It has something for everyone. It is quite extensive, so be prepared to walk! The butterfly exhibit is small but still worth a visit. The location itself is quite scenic. Near by it’s the zoo and a few hikes that can be combined with while you visit it.

Raw nature. Thank you. I appreciate this place more than the manicured gardens out there. This really does a beautiful job of guiding you into a select area of raw nature settings, where you can experience sitting or walking tours or by yourself, the way nature was intended within theses small settings. While some are unnatural to this region, it allows you to have a more natural experience than say the Huntington. Overall, Descanso is the gem of the garden world in AZ

If you want to see cacti of all possible and impossible forms (rare mutations are on the list as well - see photos) - that’s just the place! I have never seen such a collection and a well maintained one! There are wonderful guided tours where you learn in great detail about “secret life” of cacti. If you like independence- all plants bear neat nameplates allowing you to get properly acquainted with the local flora specimens. Better to reserve around 4 hours to be able observe in peace without running around, since the park is huuuuuge!!! 10 out of 10 for highly specialized botanical gardens! Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my visit.

This was a Saturday morning and we got here before 9am. We are members and just scanned our passes and went about walking. No traffic so taking photos was easy. Was very quiet and we could easily hear the birds and other wildlife. We left about 12:30 pm as the crowds started coming on . The combination of blown glass and the natural plants was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

It was so nice they have a small butterfly garden they service wine and beer. I guess u can go at night and see it all lit up. We went during the day but it was awesome it was about $70 for 2 adults

Never disappointed- was here in 2015, had to come back for the amazing art installation by Dale Chihuly. His glass blown art among the dessert garden is spectacular. My only thought would be to come at night when everything is lit! Take comfortable shoes. It’s a large and hard surfaces require comfortable walking shoes. Wear sunscreen A hat is best during the high heat of the day. Stay hydrated, there’s plenty of water stations in the garden to fill up your own bottle you carried in.

I'd be happy to provide some information about the Desert Botanical Garden in Tempe, Arizona. However, please note that my knowledge is based on information available until May 2023, so there may have been changes since then. The Desert Botanical Garden is a popular attraction in the Phoenix metropolitan area known for its stunning collection of desert plants. It covers 140 acres and showcases a wide variety of plant species, including cacti, succulents, and other desert flora. The garden offers beautiful walking trails that allow visitors to explore the different desert habitats and enjoy the serene beauty of the desert landscape. Additionally, the garden hosts various events, including art exhibits, concerts, and educational programs for visitors of all ages. Visitors often praise the garden for its well-maintained grounds, informative exhibits, and breathtaking scenery. However, I recommend checking the official website or recent reviews for the most up-to-date information about the Desert Botanical Garden and any changes that may have occurred since my last knowledge update in May 2023.

The Desert Botanical Garden offers a delightful escape into nature's wonders, even for those who may not have a particular interest in plant life. While the gardens boast a multitude of stunning flora, including a diverse range of cacti and desert plants, there are other attractions to appreciate. For instance, if you're more drawn to wildlife, you'll find yourself surrounded by an ample amount of ground squirrels and lizards that add a touch of liveliness to the environment. Moreover, the garden ensures visitor comfort with plenty of shaded areas to seek respite from the sun, as well as numerous water fountains equipped with water bottle stations. Plus, the convenience of air-conditioned bathrooms throughout the premises enhances the overall experience. The scenery at the Desert Botanical Garden is nothing short of breathtaking. The juxtaposition of vibrant desert flowers, towering cacti, and the unique desert landscape creates a captivating visual spectacle. Whether you're strolling along the well-maintained paths or sitting in one of the shaded areas, you'll find yourself immersed in the serene beauty of the surroundings. The attention to detail and the preservation of this arid ecosystem are commendable, and it's an ideal place to reconnect with nature and enjoy a peaceful respite from the bustling city.

Wonderful place to see all the desert 🌵 plants and flowers! It is a very well kept garden. We reached at 7 PM so only had one hour to explore the place, I wish we had more time. Keep your sef hydrated! It has a nice restaurant and a gift shop.

What a fantastic place to explore desert plants! My family and I had a few hours before we had to be at the airport, so we decided to explore. It was great to walk around at our own pace and look at everything there. We even saw rabbits and lizards! It was very hot (more than 100°F) but the gift shop has air conditioning and a nice selection of gifts and souvenirs. I will return the next time I'm in town.

DBG is one of my favorite places in all of the Phoenix Metro area. I highly recommend a visit or a few dozen. Check out their membership options, often it's more affordable to get a membership than purchase individual tickets for all your family. The DBG has an incredible variety of plants from all over the world. I visit on a near weekly basis (get that membership) and each visit I still see something I hadn't in previous trips. Another nice thing about the membership, you get early access on Sundays and Wednesdays - that's when the desert critters are most active. They are fun to watch, looking for food before more people arrive. Aside from the plants their events are super fun and family friendly. Our favorite is the Strange World event around Halloween. The fall and spring plant sale is also a great event. The variety and prices beat any nursery in the valley. Purchase your tickets in advance, help everyone get through the entrance faster!

Great excursion for the entire family. Visited Arizona for the first time and this place is a must! There are about 5 tails you can walk and each has its own unique experience. There is a wide variety of desert plants to see and learn about. Be sure to take lots of pictures this place is very scenic. Be sure to use sun screen and walk with cold water from home! Also you are ok purchasing tickets at the gate.

This garden is legitimately beautiful. But keep in mind that this is a desert and you have to be careful with your water levels. I had heat exhaustion when I visited, but rest assured that their rangers are well equipped to help you recover quickly. Do not be afraid to ask for help to avoid it running your visit.

The gardens are nice, which I visited previously. I also enjoyed the fall plant sale today. They had some rare cacti and other plants, but prices were a little high. It’s a fundraiser though.

Even on a Sunday before a holiday and after a rain the garden was able to accommodate all of the people. There are plenty of trails and separate spaces to explore. The signage is aplenty and each time I was curious about a cactus name there was information nearby. There is art incorporated all over the garden, from ceramics, to sculptures, to architectural installations. The sundial is one of my favorites. Regular guests parted and smiled as a wedding party and guests in spectacular botanical themed dresses and suits headed to their event. There was a wonderful sense of community. People coming out all for different reasons ready to be immersed in the wonder of the desert.

Nice garden with good trails and good information. Volunteers very friend. Great for bird watchers. Good for getting some exercise and taking great photos. Highly recommended. Nice butterfly observatory. Seems like a good place for renting on special occasions. They host community events as well. They also have an art exhibit. Worth the visit.

Beautiful collection of cacti and other native plants. Did arrive later than desirable, but sunset was gorgeous, and after light faded, just walking around was nice, though not enough added artifical light to really explore plants. Be mindful of the schedule. One section was closed off just as we exited for an event but other sections still large enough to get lost in :) I will go back next time I'm in Phoenix.

Their wedding coordinator is not helpful at all! I sent an inquiry through The Knot, and it not only took over a week to get a response, but he had no interest in helping me with dates but rather just said "We don't have these dates available" and that was it. Wouldn't want him coordinating my wedding...no customer service whatsoever.

Very pretty location. The scenery is absolutely breath taking. I would have to recommend to visit during the fall or winter time if the said person might be sensitive to the extreme heat we can deal with come summer time for the Phoenix metro area if you're not from the local area. Very family oriented. Friendly. Great atmosphere for anybody!

Not having had much experience of a desert environment, I was quite pleasantly surprised by the beauty and diversity of the plant life on exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden. Most plants are clearly marked with both the scientific and common name. You can wander through at your own pace, which can make for a truly delightful ramble. A must-see for anyone new to the area!

It was good experience on the first loop but all the joy and excitement kinda faded away as they had same kind of color lights in different loops as well, variety of 🌵 🌵 🌵 in the garden but you can't see anything in the dark, the cactus are not luminous as you may expect from the Google review pics... overall it was a okay experience. One souvenir I got was a fridge magnet of actual cactus 🌵 in a mini pot, which was super cool to have one... I might stop by for a second time if I visit Phoenix again.

Too much money for what you get. Bring a mask because you need to wear one, even outside. You need to make a reservation for your time, but we just walked up and they got us right in. The map was not that helpful and we found ourselves lost or confused where to go. The butterfly garden is only open for a month from October thru November. However if you want to see lots of cool cactus types, this is the place. We saw ones we've never seen before.

It would be difficult to see everything in one day. Plenty of signs to tell you what plants you're looking at. Butterfly and hummingbird garden are seasonal. There is a crowned cactus for pictures. Not much to eat so plan on stopping before or after.

It's really a beautiful place. Doesn't really attract a diverse group of people, which is a bummer. Las Noches de las Luminarias is a bit cost prohibitive and I imagine general admission is a bit high, too.

  • 5/5 Raquel V. 3 years ago on Google
We experienced the magic of the Luminary walk in Dec 2020. It was absolutely beautiful. It was a fun, leisurely stroll, self led, with drink stations every so often offering wine, cocktails, etc. The fire pits were a welcome sight to take a little break. I highly recommend this tour. May want to bring a small flashlight. Some areas get pretty dark.

If you enjoy nature this place is a must see while you’re in the Phoenix area. This place is filled with beautiful plants & animals on short and organized walking trails. If you really wanna enjoy this place to the fullest extent make sure you hydrate! They have ensured the place has plenty resting spots in the shade to make your time as comfortable as possible. The garden is beautifully maintained. There’s so much history/educational info inserted throughout the trail. They have a gift shop that is full of awesome plant oriented gifts.

  • 5/5 Dale N. 2 years ago on Google
What a beautiful garden. There are many trials to choose from. We have a membership, and always find a new trail we have not been down. Lots of events, including night-time luminaries in December, with Christmas music (some live!). Be sure to eat at their farm to table restaurant, Gertrudes!

  • 5/5 TinaEh V. 2 years ago on Google
An amazingly well maintained garden! Its very clean and very tidy! The Loop Trail is very easy and if you rushed it, you would finish it in under 15 minutes. If you're coming here in peak summer season (July-August), it is VERY hot. So, be prepared, stay hydrated and be safe. The trails are easy to follow and it is an awesome garden to walk through.

I've been to gardens in other places in the East Coast and Midwest.. This was really beautiful as an exhibit of the best of the desert plants. They were wonderfully grouped and beautifully tended.. We did the night nighttime flashlight tour which was fun. But I'm super glad that I got there early enough to see everything in the light before it got dark.

Very beautiful and well maintained grounds. A large variety of desert fauna. There are also a few species of animals living in and around, pay close attention you might spot a few hummingbirds. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!! Anytime I have some extra money I come here to enjoy the atmosphere. I got a discount for National Cactus Day and took my children, they were so young and loved coming here I was surprised because they don’t even like going to the zoo. However, seeing the butterflies and all the gorgeous plants they absolutely loved it. Even in the summer time it’s fun! The entire enclosure is well kept and very clean, I’m glad my children loved it as much as I did mainly because there’s lots of fun places for them to climb!

A great place to visit but better to go there in the morning before it gets hot. There is water points, restroom stops and shaded areas to sit along the walking paths. The plants are labeled and there are fun facts to read. We got tickets on the day we went to visit and didn't have to wait in a line. There is also a gift shop there but souvenirs may be cheaper in the Old Town.

Tuesdays are free days to go, you have to get ticket in advance, same with when you go any other day. But it was absolutely beautiful.😍 It's hot as hell. They have drinking fountains throughout the garden but I suggest bringing your own cause it's not the coldest water by any means😖

Wonderful way to spend the day and support the desert. They're extremely organized and everything was extremely clean and very informational I saw some things I've never seen before my life and I go to the desert quite a bit. The gift shop was amazing had a lot of stuff I always try to buy one thing wherever I go just to support. The butterfly farm was fabulous and the people were very friendly I highly recommend this place as a day trip. And for a business that's worthy of support.

One of the most unique botanical gardens I’ve ever visited. Presenting the desert life as its in natural habitat. Plenty of wild animals - from hummingbirds, quail, rabbits, sometimes snakes. Can get really hot in there but there are occasional shades in the park - like a small hut or a tree. Best if you bring lots of water.

Great place to visit while in Phoenix. If you are going here late spring or summer, would recommend going either in the early morning or late afternoon. There are not a lot of places with shade in the garden. The area is quite big and there are many trails and galleries to explore. It is also not too far from the airport so if you have a late night flight this could be a good place to stop by.

Wonderful display of a cacti garden. However we visited the garden during a Halloween festival for children and some of the trails were closed off so we were not able to view their entire garden. I would have given it five stars if some of those trails weren't closed and we paid full price.

Love love love this garden! It is a $25 admission charge, I feel that it is expensive for the small size of this place. I thoroughly enjoyed it, so wasn't too worried about the price after. The whole area around the botanical garden, Papago Park and Hole in the Rock are fun to visit so make a day of it! We packed food and water and explored each area, it was one of the highlights of our trip to Phoenix!

Didn't know what to expect when I visited but I quickly realized that this place is something very special. We ended up spending the whole day admiring the variety of desert plants and walking the different trails. I just can't say enough about how helpful and friendly all the volunteers are here. This should not be missed.

Photographed a wedding there on a cloudy Jan day, and the grounds are simply stunning. I could spend all day at the gardens, there is so much to see. Staff is very friendly and nice. One of my favorite spots in the valley to do photos at. It is the perfect desert backdrop.
