πŸ‘ Great vertical hike. I like hikes that are not flat and this one doesn't disappoint. It is about 1100ft elevation gain and is pretty much climbing up stairs or clambering over rocks. Great view of the city at the top. And the pinnacle is amazing. Most mountains don't have such a sharp point for you... Great vertical hike. I like hikes that are not flat and this one doesn't disappoint. It is about 1100ft elevation gain and is pretty much climbing up stairs or clambering over rocks. Great view of the city at the top. And the pinnacle is amazing. Most mountains don't have such a sharp point for you to stand on. This one makes you feel like you conquered something tremendous. Few things I would be aware of is that there is a lot of traffic. Probably 50-100 people per hour in the mornings. Also most people don't stop for you if you are going up. Some tight sections can only fit 1 person and they just run your ass right over. If you visit make sure that on your way down you pause to let the people going up pass you. It only takes a few seconds and is safe for everyone. Also the hike is pretty short. I can get up and down it in about 2 hours.

The hike is intermediate in some sections, taking approximately 40 minutes without stopping at a brisk pace to reach the summit. Water stations and bathrooms are available near the parking area, which gets crowded anytime after 6:30-7am depending on the day. There are a few sections that area bit steep, makinh the hike is a little hard on the joints, so make sure you do some dynamic stretches prior to starting. At times the path becomes narrow, but mostly everyone I've encountered is friendly and aware of their surroundings. Watch out for rattle snakes! They're beautiful, but I've encountered a few crossing the main trail that have given me a scare.

It is absolutely beautiful, it is a reminder of the majesty of our Creator and God. We meet people along the way... it reminded us of the race we are walking on earth... and the way we treat each other along the way. So much fun to enjoy the view and encourage others along the way... to see everyone getting to the top and safe back down. A awesome experience a beautiful view from our Creator's eyes.

A fun hike with some phenomenal views at the top! Quite rocky, but the jagged rocks at the top are awesome. The trail is well maintained and I would highly recommend giving it a go!

This isn't a dangerous or narrow hike but it is very rigorous physical challenge. Pretty much no flat sections, it's all uphill stairs/climbing Got there at 3pm on Wednesday and got the last spot in the parking lot. On our way out we noticed lots of people parking along the road leading out of the mountain. Bring some water!

My Favorite Mountain to hike. This trail is difficult ,but a steady a climb without lots of rocks to trip over like other trails. There is no bathroom at the base of this trail. The original name of this mountain is Squaw Peak.

This is new for me, hiking, and Squak peak has been AMAZING. Made it to the peak 3 times and 2 times more than half way up. Seeing the sunrise with this awesome man playing his drum and flute is the BEST thing EVER!! ❀❀❀❀❀

Parking here is definitely easier than Camelback but you might have to hike just to hit the trails if you park to far. The hike itself is nice and the view from up top is even better.

The views from the peak are amazing. You have to earn the view by a lot of hard work. The trails are apparently very popular with local people as well as vacationers. It is no easy task to do this peak but I observed a number of hard core runners actually running the trail on the parts that they could. I was sweating and breathing hard by the time I reached the summit but loved just sitting and taking in the view and resting until I was ready to head down. Do not do this climb unless you have plenty of water.

Difficult hike, but worth it when you get to the summit. Trail is very rocky so make sure you have good footwear.

Great hike, but very challenging! The Summit #300 hike is 2.2 miles out and back and tends to be fairly high trafficked. We started the trail around 7:45am and the trail wasn’t too busy. The trail is pretty much an incline from the start so it will certainly get your heart pumping. We took a bunch of breaks on the way up to hydrate, be sure to bring plenty of water, but the views from the top were awesome!

Great hiking trail! Up there with camelback, a little steep but not too difficult. Wear shoes with decent tread. If a 5yr old in crocs carrying a half naked Barbie can make it to the top, so can you...

Great place to hike. Please go over the Phoenix.gov website for essential information. Parking here can be a bit difficult in the morning. Remember to bring PLENTY of water. The trail is rocky and steep in some areas, the higher you go, the more steep and difficult it gets. There are runner, hikers and strollers and remember, the people on the way up, have priority.

Very stony hills with little vegetation. But full of small rodents and lizards. Need hard bottom shoes to climb these hills.

Fun hike and beautiful views of Phoenix once you make it to the top. It can be strenuous for some, but overall it is a moderate hike. The rocks on the top are the best part. This hike is rough on the knees going down. The parking lot is very small, I recommend getting there early, this hike gets extremely crowded, especially on the weekends.

Did early morning hike. Nice weather. Arrived at 5:30 with lots of parking. Not so many hikers on a Friday. Easy to moderate uphill hike. Good for your thighs, gluts and legs muscles. Really good workout. On top of it, you will experience something unusual, a guy who will play a flute and some sort of a drum. Restrooms and wash area on trailhead. Nice people too along the hike.

Good climb! Great experience. Good view. If you like hiking it will be a good experience. Wouldn't be an easy climb for someone with health issues. Not as iconic as camelback but I definitely would recommend this hike.

Took us 40 minutes to the top. It’s not a simple hike. The trail is very uneven and is steep at times and has sharp rocks. But was totally worth it.

One of my happy places and they do an annual ceremony to honor Lori Piestewa who was killed in action with Jessica Lynch who made headlines. Great sunrise hike to see taiko drummer ken koshio play the sunrise.

Hiked up from the trailhead this morning. Bring at least 1/2 gallon of water per person if you’re doing it during the summer and start early in the morning. I only brought about a quart and was really hurting on the way down. Especially on the lower parts where the sun is pounding you and it’s way hotter than the summit. View from the top is spectacular and the other hikers were friendly. In general I would not recommend coming to Phoenix in July. It’s just too hot.

A short, easy hike to a very beautiful viewpoint is recommended, especially at sunset, and be sure to bring headlamps or something similar with you on the way back! I then walked the 360 degree trail [freedom trail] clockwise around the mountain, very nice
