Do not stay here. As soon as you enter the lobby all you can smell is cigarettes, most likely due to the chain smoking staff. Very bad first impression.. checked into our room, sat on the bed and after a minute or so I realized that my pants were wet.. I felt the bed, it was wet and came to realize that I had sat in URINE.. it smelled so bad. Absolutely disgusting. The room was dirty, and bathroom was gross. This place is $170 a night.. couldn't believe it, a huge inconvenience after travelling 4 hours to owen sound, just to turn around and go home. Please do yourself a favour and spend your money elsewhere.

So, where do I start? I checked in on July 29, 2023 for a race I had the next morning. If this place was $100 a night, then at least there's an excuse for how awful it is. But, this place cost me $240, so it deserves this review. - Staff: not friendly. Just automatic. No uniforms or even clean outfits. The woman at the front desk actually sucked her teeth at me when I asked for another room key because I locked myself out. The male staff was seen smoking less than the legal distance from the entry. - Lobby: pretty gross. The eating area had piles of towels all over the tables and counters where people were supposed to eat the next morning. - Room: stained furniture and shower curtain. Tub didn't drain properly. Body hair on the bathroom floor. Mold in the shower. Stained walls in the bathroom. Low def TV. Dials and numbers on the ancient AC unit were all worn off, so I couldn't see whether I was turning the heat or the cold on, or what temp. Internet stopped working for some time during the evening. I was afraid to fall asleep lest the beds would be as filthy as the place is generally. Food: Do not believe it when they say "breakfast". Even if they had decent food, the facility was half the size it needs to be to allow guests to actually sit down and eat. It was faster for me to walk across the street to Tim's than to wait to get a piece of toast here. I'm surprised that the franchise actually lets the owners operate this under the Travelodge brand. Honestly, for the small difference in price, I'm staying at the Best Western next year.

just Gross. All the 1 star reviews aren't exaggerated. I would expect this stay at a $79/night motel but getting charged $249 and getting this is ridiculous. 2 out of 3 pillows on the 1 bed hand stains on the pillow cases and I didnt want to look at the other bed. the tub was black on the bottom and had mold in the corners. toilet wouldn't flush.. towels are now brown so people can't see the stains to complain. I talked to the front desk who just shrugged. only positives I have to share are the main floor rooms back on to the parking lot and the sliding doors make it easy to unload vehicles also our patio door lock and security bar were broken we went our to buy mattress sheets from Walmart as it was that bad. bring your own sheets or you might end up pregnant from sleeping in these beds

Warning on booking. We travel a lot and usually book at hotels during the week as we receive the same or better rate than using an online site, and the hotelier doesn’t incur the cost of the online booking. We arrived here to find the hotel had a rate with tax $40 above the rate found on any online site. We discussed it with them and they would not budge, claiming that the site was in us funds (it was not), that they “don’t know what others sell rooms for, etc. Warning to all to book online if using this hotel - even if you do it in the parking lot (the night clerk actually told us to do this). Breakfast included is actually a brown paper bag containing bottled water, apple juice, 2 Costco granola bars and a Costco muffin. Not what we wound consider an included breakfast. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this motel to others.

The good news is my bed looked unmade when I arrived. When I saw the sheets were full of dog hair and wierd looking black and yellow things, I pulled out the sheets to take a better look and found a bedbug. (Yes I also had the nasty stained brown towels in the washroom too). Had to call the front desk from my cell phone because the room phone was not working. Front desk told me to take a picture and was kind enough to give me a clean room, and said I would be refunded in the morning if I asked. The armchair in my new room was stained and had a used candy wrapper on it. But the towels were clean …yay. In the morning I was told the hotel doesn’t give refunds and I shouldn’t have been told that. I was with a group of five rooms - one colleague left in the middle of the night without sleeping in the room because they were too creeped out.

I would not recommend staying here. A friend booked 2 rooms for myself and her family. I read reviews during our drive, I saw many that mentioned hair, dirty/dusty rooms, poor AC and overall poor cleanliness. Of course, when someone says “hair everywhere” my first thought is they are more than likely exaggerating. We did find a few random hairs on the bedsheets (not “everywhere”), there was visible dust on the desk/fridge, stains on the bed skirt, and multiple cobwebs throughout the room. As for the AC, our room was very warm and humid, the AC unit was running, we turned it as cold as possible with minimal improvement. We were offered another room, which was also poorly cleaned/maintained. The staff at the front desk were rude and impatient, upon entering the lobby, she ignored us and continued to fold linen even though she made eye contact. After a bit of arguing, we received a refund and stayed at the Comfort Inn down the road, with no concerns.

My father and I (originally supposed to be my mother and I, but she passed away) spent the night here a few months back as I was getting my G license in the morning. This was a very stressful time due to my mother's passing, my test in the AM and lack of basic cleaning, upkeep and respect in this Travelodge. We brought our dog as my father was supposed to be at home with him while my mom and I were away. We called in advance to change our room to a dog friendly one. Upon arrival we noticed long, black hair (and quite a lot of it... almost looked painful) hanging from the hairdryer, tar all over the floor (we were notified this was a construction workers room, we knew about the floors) but also in the bathroom and coated in the bathtub. There were off-white splatters (could have been Toothpaste) on the lower part of the bathroom wall and urine along the bottom of the toilet. My dad went and asked the front desk if they could come look at the room as this was when fear of Covid 19 was high. She came down, threw the hair out and told us it was more than likely the cleaning ladies as this was an issue they have had a few times before. She then reminded us again that the room was a construction workers in a light-hearted tone and went back to the desk. We were a little uneasy as we hadn't even gone inside fully yet. As we did, multiple things came to our attention: There were candies (M&Ms, cake sprinkles? And my father pointed out a blue pill) behind the beds. My beds pillowcase had what looked to be makeup stains, there were dirty smudges and spills (looked like tea or coffee) on the sheets and the runner they had laying at the end of both beds were spotted with oil or something. I took my sheets and pillowcase, brought them to the desk and asked if I could have some new ones. The woman who was behind the desk had absolutely zero care in the world, I'd assume it's because these are common issues/complaints and most of the staff are used to it. Unfortunately, this doesn't make it any less shocking for guests here. One of the worst feelings walking out of a hotel has to be that you're owed money or that you were ripped off. Please improve the quality of your establishment. By far one of my worst experiences through and through. Sanitization and cleanliness: 0/10 Staff attitude, organisation & response: 3/10 Breakfast: 3/10 water, granola bar, yogurt, fruit cup, juice and bananas were available. Would I recommend: No.

Terrible hotel. Travelodge should pull their branding from this place. Service was bad. Hotel was dirty. Garbages in public areas never emptied and overflowing. No room cleaning offered. Rooms were old and not maintained. Included continental breakfast was a paper bag with a bottle of water and two Costco granola bars.

If this was a $80-$120 per night hotel then I would be willing to accept how bad it is. But for a $220+ per night, this is a horrible hotel. The room was dated, dirty, moldy, stained, way below average across all areas. They also advertise it as a "pet friendly" hotel, but only allocate 3 rooms for pets which is not communicated. They also charge an extra $20 per night for pets, which although I am happy with, they don't tell you what it is for (it's not like they cleaned the room, they actually said there will be no housekeeping unless we specifically request it). Staff at the front desk were polite and accommodating, but that's about it. Definitely not going back!

Pee and coffee on the drapes and bed skirts.... Multiple insects crawling all over the room. The phone, fridge, Microwave and tv did not function. Lumpy bed and flat lumpy pillows. Was scared to even think of what it would look like with a black light over it. This place should be shut down until it can pass a health inspection. I was not going to eat anything from this place... I figure if the rooms are bug infested... The kitchen is worse! Oh and lest we forget the bickering domestic arguement that was going on in the room next door.... Didn't need a tv... Could hear every screaming work thru the walls. This has to be the worst place I have stayed in in the 40 years I have been travelling.

Since the hotel is focal point for Tobermory and Wasagga beach, we booked travelogue. It was a bad experience. Stayed there for 3 days. Linens were not changed for all 3 days. Bathroom weren’t cleaned for my whole stay . They just replaced the soap and shampoo. Breakfast was not up to the mark. No lots of choices. They have only bread, waffle, egg, banana and yogurt. Apple juice and orange juice tasted really weird. I would not recommend this place if you’re going with family.

If you plan on just staying one night as a transfer from one place to another for a low price. This is good. Other than that. Far from good. Not so clean rooms (cigarette smell) aswell as not so functional sink and that “included” continental breakfast is useless. A lot of other hotels offer a continental breakfast (a real one) but at the travel lodge it’s a like a kids snack brown paper bag kinda thing… overall not recommended

Today I've had the worst experience with this hotel. After traveling 3 and a half hours with my puppy, I booked with this hotel 10 mins before arriving. I was early 1pm, so I was going to ask if I can pay an extra fee if possible. so the male at the front desk then said no they don't do that which is fine so I waited in my car till 2:30 to see if the room was available. He told me they do not have the sliding room on the ground floor. I went online and seen they had 2 rooms left with pet friendly which is ground floors, I said you do have rooms available he said no its not. I then sat back and watched him check in 3 people all ground floors. one lady had just walked and and got a room. There is not such thing as good customer service here. avoid at All costs. I then drove all the way back home due to having a huge mental break down as he watched me. Don't book this hotel ESPECIALLY IF you have a far drive.

I am sorry to say that my experience is with this hotel is not that great. It okay for one night but I am not staying more than that. The room was not clean at all. There was dust on the chairs and other places. The bed sheets had stains and mattress was not comfortable. Even the towels we received was brown but got discoloured due to use of bleach which looks disgusting. Why don't you guys use white towels like all other hotels? Now trap I fell for was the free continental breakfast they were offering compared to other hotels in the same vicinity for the same price. All they give you is a brown bag with 1 water bottle, 1 yoghurt, 1 banana, 1 energy bar, couple of crackers and a chocolate bar. This is the trick most the hotels are doing post pandemic. I can understand that it was necessary during pandemic but why now when all the restaurants are open and everything is back to normal.

The hotel staff themselves were rude. They are also very cheap and have provided terrible service. The hotel staff told us that room cleaning will not be done and they will not enter our room. To this, we were happy as we did not want housekeeping in our room. We had told them as well not to enter and left a do not disturb sign on the door handle. Housekeeping still came and did not even clean properly. Additionally, our fridge was on the coldest setting and they turned the fridge off entirely. (The fridge had food inside). Another thing to note is that when we came to the hotel at 3:28 PM, the rooms were not ready! Check-in is at 3 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. The rooms should be ready by then! We were able to enter the room at 4:03 PM and the beds were not made properly, dirty sheets, dirty washroom, and it was not cleaned at all. To our dismay, even appliances like the microwave had spoiled food inside them! Additionally, the staff at the hotel were very rude to us. This is a terrible hotel! Find somewhere else to stay. (We had a party of 10 people with three different rooms, all had the same issues). In our room, there was no telephone, clothing iron and the appliances did not even work properly. The ice-maker in the hotel was out-of-service as were many of the amenities I booked the hotel for. I am very disappointed and will not be coming back to this hotel again.

We had a terrible experience. This is the worst 3 star hotel I’ve ever seen. First they added on a bunch of hidden fees. We booked a pet friendly room and you could tell the receptionist was annoyed. The hot water didn’t work well. Not sure what tv provider they had but when it wasn’t cutting in and out, there were no channels. The worst was the breakfast. Apparently an expired fruit cup and a granola bar is sufficient enough. Makes the diamond inn look luxurious. This place was just absolutely terrible. Don’t know how they’re still in business. Last time we book there.

Terrible. I am currently sitting in one of their rooms and am freezing. The heating unit does not blow hot air. It is -18 outside! The lady at the desk brought me a space heater but it does not blow heat. She said all the other rooms were the same and wouldn’t even discount my room! This is a joke of a hotel.

Waste of time and waste of my money. We booked three rooms for the long weekend, we found a BED BUG on the bed, brought it to the check in section, they didn’t even get shocked. Very dirty, the sheets smell were so bad. Was a total terrible experience. If you want your vacation to be ruined book with them!!!!!! They didn’t give us the money completely back as we refused to stay in their dirty rooms. In their advertisement they should mention BED BUG included!!!!

Before arriving, I was trying to call to see what room I would be in - I called for an hour straight without an answer. I ended up calling a couple hours later and someone finally answered. She was very friendly over the phone and was able to move my room to better accommodate me. Upon arrival, front desk was still friendly and professional. Entering my room, I began looking for bugs as people have mentioned in reviews- luckily nothing found! There was pen on one of the sheets so I'm not too sure if the sheets were washed. The microwave was not cleaned and gave off a weird chemical smell so I did not use this. The tea maker still had a used tea bag in it. I did notice hair around my room as mentioned but I'm also understanding that some people lose hair more then others and if this is being found in most rooms it is probably someone who works there. Breakfast was decent and was not in paper bags (wondering if this was due to covid)

Bad experience. Overall a dirty place mostly for smokers. We booked 2 nights. On the morning after the first night, we saw an earwig in the bed... We spoke with James at the front desk who was not really professional to cancel the 2nd night. He could not make it happen. We still left so we don't risk our baby's health since this hotel is pretty dirty. Don't open your window or patio door, James (the front desk employee) smoke around the business and you can smell the smoke in your room. I would recommend you to check another place if you want to stay in Owen Sound.

Room wasn't fully put together as the cable box was behind the dresser just hanging all tangled up. The remote back piece was back there too. I'm thinking it was a new worker who set up room but someone should always check. Room smelt very nice though.

The room was extremely dirty.... splatters and sticky residue on walls and doors, bathroom had hair everywhere, including in the shower. If there had been a vacancy anywhere else, I would definitely not have stayed. It was so terrible, we purchased cleaning products and cleaned the room ourselves as we were told there is no maid service on the weekends.

My recent stay at Travelodge was unfortunately far from satisfactory. Despite my initial hopes, the service fell significantly below expectations. The issues began with a noticeable underestimation of the service quality. Moreover, the presence of insects in the accommodation was a major disappointment. This not only undermined the hygiene standards but also created an uncomfortable and unsettling atmosphere. The lack of swift action to address this issue was particularly concerning. While I understand that no place is perfect, the combination of subpar service and the presence of insects made for a rather unpleasant stay. I hope Travelodge takes these concerns seriously and takes steps to improve the overall guest experience.

Pros - most affordable hotel within the area, great location, personable and accommodating front desk staff, room includes microwave and mini-fridge, and breakfast meets expectations (granola bars, packed fruit juice, banana, yogurt and bottled water). Cons - front desk staff not wearing masks 😷!!! Rooms not very clean, heater not working well so the room was freezing 🥶 (staff did provide me with portable heater after) and lobby is not well-lit and looks deserted.

Very disappointing experience. Upon check in discovered the reservation was wrong. We were charged for a third night when only staying two night. We went to the front desk four times and we assured it was fixed even though my credit card was sending me messages I was getting charged over and over again. Upon check out I was told they didn't know how to fix the problem and I would have to call back when the manager was in on Monday. It was the manager I spoke to on two separate occasions and was assured the situation was resolved. Also, the rooms were freezing cold upon arrival. One of the rooms reeked of cigarette smoke but we were told we could not change the room because there were no other rooms cleaned/prepared for use. They just provided us with a bottle of Fabreeze for us to spray. There were also black, long hairs on the pillow case. In the bathroom the towel rack was ripped off of the wall and there were no towels. In the other room we booked there were towels but they were brown, tattered and sketchy. The entire hotel looks very old, dated and worn. The staff, while polite, were unable or unwilling to help us with our problems. Very disappointing....

Definitely avoid. All plastic, no kettle. Better stay in a motel/Inn. Room heater takes more than an hour to raise the temperature. Breakfast is sugary cereal and muffin. Rooms not clean. Dusty. Telephone cable disconnected.

Great stay for good price. Clean and bright. Didn't feel the concerns about smell or anything. Bed comfortable. Breakfast was continental but good portions. Would stay again.

  • 3/5 Hafsah F. 1 year ago on Google
This was one of the cheapest hotel I've ever been, the service sucked. They advertise saying that they provide "continental breakfast" all they have was bottle of water, juice and some granola bars with melina toast, worse breakfast ever. I have posted a picture of what they gave for breakfast. They did not have a phone in the room which is a very basic requirement in a room. Location was the only good side about this. They could definitely do better with the services and the room itself.

We stayed overnight on a mini vacation to To bermorry and the Bruce Peninsula. Friendly and efficient management and front desk. Continental breakfast was decent and easy. The room was clean and the bed was surprisingly comfortable and had an awesome night sleep. The AC unit was a little noisy but we hardly needed it. Free parking close to the room.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights the weekend of June 25th. When reading the previous reviews I was a little concerned. When we arrived check in was easy and fast, the woman that helped us was more then pleasant and happy to answer any questions we had. The rooms are spacious & clean. Personally I am a clean freak and check every hotel before settling in and there was absolutely nothing to worry about! Showers were always hot and pressure was great. We had one mix up about us being booked two nights but that was our fault due to adding another night last minute, it was quickly resolved. The “breakfast” isn’t much but handy to have for snacks there is also a Tim Hortons across the street. I would say here again with out a doubt!

Well room was quite good and comfortable, i was having one with two beds. But the only think we didn't like is that they are not having drinking water in the hotel. It was 2 am in the morning, i was thirsty and went to attendant in main lobby. He said there is no water in the hotel and not even to buy. FORTUNATELY there was last bottle in our car otherwise i had to sleep thirsty. REST BREAKFAST WAS GOOD. Thanks for having us.

  • 1/5 Carl A. 2 years ago on Google
As nice and friendly the staff was the 1st room was dirty and didn't seem to have been cleaned with the wall mounted TV off the wall sitting on the table, so we asked for another room which the staff accommodated us with changing to was a little better. Just a little. The TV was good but the bathroom door wouldn't open completely due to hitting the towel rack, the toilet rocked when sat on, the sink taps were loose, the outlet in the bathroom didn't work nor did the hairdryer, the windows were difficult to open and close and seemed likely to break and be stuck, the lampshade was broken and hanging off laying against the bulbs and the continental breakfast was a bag with a warm bottle of water, warm box of juice, a banana, a granola bar and a bag of chips. I've probably missed some other faults with this place due to so many but we won't be checking into this Travelodge again and will probably be leery of any Travelodge going forward. Save your time and money and find a better place to stay.

Good location very easy to find location. Good service and friendly secretary, all the basics, But there was hairs on washroom floor, from past guest? Idk, the worst thing was the toe nail clippings all over the floor next to my bed! Simple vacuum after the last guest would have been a good idea!?

Basic motel that met our expectations. Stayed at this pricey basic motel during our trip to Bruce Peninsula in mid Aug 2021. Overall the room was nice, decent, and spacious with 2 queen-sized beds. The only drawback was the extreme-basic continental breakfast offered (basically a bunch of takeaway brown bags). We had to actually get serious breakfast across the street at Tim Horton's. Yes I realize this was due to COVID restrictions but other motels we stayed earlier they actually offered real breakfasts. All guest had to do was use their micro-ovens to warm up their treats.
