The patio is cool and good ambiance. Food cost more than it was worth. Tried the veg tacos - beans and grilled veg. Both lacked seasoning. Chipotle Mango Chicken taco was alright too. Need 3 tacos for it to be an ok meal, but it is around $6.5 - $7.5 for a taco, which can add up. Definitely need to up their food game.

Excellent food and service! Fresh delicious and savoury, this Mexican spot does not disappoint. Margaritas were excellent, kale salad perfectly seasoned, zucchini fritters really worth the try! I would highly recommend the fish tacos - generous and superbly garnished! Staff friendly, unpretentious and attentive! Definitely coming back!

Amazing food and service, I am so happy to finally have tried this as a top place for brunch. I'm excited to come back for tacos, dinner and cocktails. José, our server was lovely and allowed us to practice our Spanish with him. Thanks for an amazing Sunday afternoon.

If love Mexican food then you definitely should check out this restaurant. Went to try their heated patio recently. I had Mexican street corn 🌽 which was amazing, beef & fish tacos and the cinnamon sticks with ice cream for dessert.

We spent a lovely afternoon at Chula. The back patio was beautiful. Our server, Wilson, was welcoming and friendly. The Margarita was delightful, and the food was great. The only complaint was the calamari; while it was good, the portion size of 6-7 bite-sized pieces for $16 seemed quite steep. Aside from that, everything was fantastic. We will definitely be returning.

Love Chula! Has a very cool vibe inside. They also have great outdoor covered patio seating options on their upper and lower deck patios. The food and service are always spot on. Their burrito bowls are huge portions that it’s good enough for 2 meals. Tacos are delicious as well (battered fish is a must)!

Chula is AMAZING! My partner loved the guacamole (and the server gave us a bit extra:) and I loved the queso dip (which had a lot of taste including a bit of heat). The restaurant's claim of 'modern Mexican' food is true as there are some nice touches they put on traditional fare. My Mango Chicken Tacos came with pickled cabbage and carrot on top of a generous amount of chicken. My partner inhaled the Beef Short Rib. We had local beers from Eastern ave and Queen street (Avling). Though it was October we could sit on the back patio and the server put some heat on for us. The music was a bit loud out there, but I have visited in the summer and found the upper patio a bit quieter where it felt less of a bar and more of a restaurant. I would say all ages feel comfortable here as my uncle (75 yrs) enjoyed it, and the kids seated indoors seemed to be having a nice time. Overall a really nice spot that I've recommended to friends.

We came back from Mexico and this has been our favourite Mexican spot in Leslieville for the last 3 years. The food is consistently delicious and the atmosphere is always welcoming. They’ve updated their menu with a few new options while keeping favourites. We’ve enjoyed everything we’ve eaten so far and always look forward to coming back.

Yummy food!! I’m in love with the Mexican street corn and Mango Y Habanero(cocktail)! The Chipotle chicken taco was delicious. Zucchini taco is also available for vegans. I will visit again to try more food options.

I don’t know why Chula isn’t mentioned as the best taco joint in Toronto?! The Birria tacos are one of the best I’ve had in my life. I just got back from San Diego and was craving Birria. This satisfied my cravings plus some. The shrimp taco was also very fresh and light. I loved it. Shout out to Bob for the great service.

Best Mexican I've been in the city impressed with the flavours they use to use to create their food taco's are a reasonable size just not fond of the queso. All the elements really came together the art compliments the space beautifully like being to Tulum or Miami. The staff are very accommodating so all over worth the visit and gave us free churro's made a great evening for my sis's bday

great ambiente with nice drinks, food looks very nice and tasted fresh but all dishes tasted rather bland. makes a great hang-out spot to chill and less so for a great dining experience.

The Chula experience is all you need when it comes to Mexican food. With a wide variety of menu options + a new brunch menu, you cannot go wrong with any selection here. I should note they have a stellar margarita Monday and taco Tuesday special this summer that you should absolutely take advantage of. A little out of the city, but well worth the trip out.

Amazing Mexican food, the best one so far in Toronto to me. I love the patio super nice on summer definitely going to enjoy a lot. The chicken enchilada was amazing and the tacos were all super delicious my favourite was the pork. We also ordered churros which were also very good. Everything was perfect and great service as well, certainly coming back! The margarita was half price 6 cad was good for this price, but full price doesn’t worth it.

Limited menu but delicious tacos. However, they were not as tasty as we were expecting. We ordered beef and chicken tacos which were a bit dry in our opinions. The calamari was 10/10 and we would definitely go back for that. Liked the vibe and servers were friendly and nice.

Great decor inside and the place is on the hip stretch of Gerard. The service was really friendly and the food was great, super fresh and with lots of taste. We sat upstairs inside, which seems to be more family oriented, and would have preferred downstairs but the place was busy, and we didn’t have reservations. So if plan ahead

I love fish tacos and would eat it anywhere. This place has amazing dish and vegetarian tacos. The owner recommended us couple of drinks and they turned out to be the best cocktails of the night. Go there for great ambience and great drink and great food.

It’s hard to post a negative review in a pandemic world. We are all just so happy to be able to go out. Last night, our part of 5 was running late for our reservation so we called ahead to let them know. They informed us that they have a ten minute grace period and we would be seated on a first come first served basis. Completely reasonable, we were late and I don’t expect anything else. The reality on arrival was that we were told our reservation was cancelled, and that they couldn’t seat us. We left and while outside their front doors, I look on open table and they have availability for our party. We booked again, walked in and were seated. Turning business away from your waitstaff, being rude, and adding friction to what is already a harder experience only hurts your staff. We have lots of other choices and average Mexican food is not something I will go out of my way for again. Super disappointing experience and bad leadership Chula. Your staff definitely deserves better.

Had a very good meal. Will definitely come back again. Very accommodating for gluten free options. The service was good, but I think our waiter was a little overwhelmed with the huge party of 15 in his section.

My friends and I booked this restaurant on a whim and it did not disappoint! We came in hungry and all the food and drinks we ordered hit the spot. In addition to the upbeat ambiance, delicious food and yummy drinks, our waitress was very attentive, friendly and helpful with suggestions. There was absolutely no shortcoming of our visit here, would dine in again!

Came with a group of friends - we chose to sit on the patio. It was such a lovely area - excellent ambiance and plenty of heat lamps to keep you warm late into the evening. Food was excellent and server was so patient! Drinks were delicious and prices are reasonable. Would recommend, excellent place to grab drinks and chill with friends. Great vibes!! The churro sundae and brisket (one in the photo) are must try’s!

Lovely atmosphere, decent prices, and delicious tacos! I've been here a few times now, tried different things and haven't been disappointed. I hear the Birria Tacos are pretty good... will have to try those next time!! 🤤 P.S. If you're looking for a quiet spot for a date night, suggest Wednesday evenings!

Amazing food, drinks and service. We basically just tried all the tacos and reordered the ones we loved the most. Our server told us that 3 tacos is about the size of their burritos. Don’t forget to look at the little menu on the table for the monthly specials. There was a spicy shrimp taco that was one of my favourites from there. Highly recommend!

Really great Mexican food! Staff were wonderful and it’s a really nice restaurant with a really cool roof top patio. The food was excellent. We had the shrimp ceviche and the guacamole. Both were excellent. The margarita was nice and not too sweet. I would recommend the mango habanero which was really tasty with the black salt. I am generally someone that likes meat but we sampled the chicken, zucchini, and fish tacos. I was surprised but the zucchini taco was definitely my favourite. As well, ask for the house made hot sauces. The scotch bonnet one is pretty good if you don’t mind a little spice - it’s really not bad. It was also my anniversary so they gave us a dessert on the house. The churro sundae was so tasty and fresh. What a treat. Highly recommend and will be back for sure!

Third time here. Went last night for a birthday celebration with my teenage daughter. Recommend the top patio if you can get it. Service was outstanding. Drinks are visually spectacular and taste great. Food is phenomenal. I’m celiac and they get it! Servers understand the ingredients AND the potential for cross contamination. We ended up with two different servers as we opted to move from one patio to the higher one. Both servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and service-orientated. It has a fun vibe, excellent service and yummy food and drinks. The price point is excellent also. Two of us shared guacamole appy, three mains (two signature taco dishes which is two packed tacos each - so packed they serve them flat - and one main plate), two deserts and two drinks and it was $103 before tip.

My favourite taco spot in the city! The quality of food and service are great. I would recommend the fish tacos, zucchini fritters, and churros! The only downside is that the prices are a bit steep for the portions. Our bill came out to $90 for lunch. However I would still recommend trying it out if you're a fan of Mexican food!

The waitress was attentive. She was fully paying attention to us. But super sourness in taste of ceviche. 🥲 And fruit flies and flies were disturbing us while enjoying our food.

Really cute spot that should make everyone happy! Their patios alone make them worth a visit. The toppings on all three tacos I tried demanded most of the focus. Not super meaty tacos by any stretch, but still quite solid! Would have loved to taste the barbacoa flavour a bit more. Drinks (and salsas actually) more on the sweeter side. Barely noticed the mezcal in my mezcal cocktail, but still loved the flavour of the pineapple drink!

We got reservation for patio and had a great time with the food and seating! The servers were friendly and food tasted as good as it looked. Highly recommend the short ribs and specialty tacos.

Fantastic atmosphere with authentic food. Visiting Chula Taberna Mexicana brought back memories of actually being in Mexico and listening to music while enjoying delicious food! I ordered the street corn and two types of tacos: chicken and fish. They were both absolutely unreal - very fresh, good size portions and beautifully presented. The staff were professional, polite and friendly. My only complaint it that there is only one location all the way downtown! ;)

Great place for Mexican fare. Loved the selections in the menu, beautiful cocktails and a nice patio at the back. But the meat in my taco could be better - it was a little chewy with pieces of fat. Highly recommend fish taco! The tortilla chips felt dry and stale, but the guac was fresh and delicious and left us wanting more of it. The tres leches cake was dry - not soaked enough in different types of milk and I didnt taste any condensed milk. Too much cream too. The fried ice cream was good. All in all, great experience in that part of town! Prices are average.

Enjoyed their patio and delicious food. The corn was the best I’ve had in the city and beef blow was incredible. There was a perfect seasoning on the meat. Will definitely come back, it’s a must try if you haven’t been.

When we went it was during the revised restrictions so we had to do with rooftop dining. There were heaters and a large tarp surrounding the whole roof. The inside of the place looked nice but unfortunately we'll have to visit at a later time to dine inside. We had ordered the queso fundido, vegetable fritters, tacos and enchiladas. The highlight was definitely the fritters as they tasted incredible and would definitely recommend. The enchilada and fundido were alright and weren't anything special to us. However the tacos were a bit disappointing given the amount of carrots on them. I've never had carrots on a taco before and this is likely the last time. The flavours didn't match so I wouldn't recommend this for those with a similar feel. Overall it was a nice place but not high on my list for Latin American restaurants.

Stopped by during lunch time without a reservation and they were able to accommodate us. The food was pretty decent but it can be better. The guacamole was very chilled but it had good flavour. The food portions are decent size. I would definitely return to try the dinner options.
