ROOTS is a wonderful Indian restaurant with some interesting fusion options! On a weekday night we were about to call ahead by about 30 minutes to get a table for a group of 10 people. We tried the bhel puri and naan bruschetta which were both great. The naan bruschetta was a fun twist and very flavorful with fresh tomatoes and garlic. The vindaloo base is very spicy even though we asked for medium spice, but it comes with serrano peppers in the curry. The virgin spicy margarita was also really tasty! The atmosphere is nice as well, there are a few seats where you can sit on cushions on the floor which is a cool experience. UPDATE: I visited again and tried the Sev Puri and Eastside Nachos, which were made and played with care. The Puri are flat and not what you'd usually expect. The Nachos are essentially chat papdi with chole and are very good, I just wish there was a bit more chutney on them.

Decent Indian restaurant with very cool seatings and mural! I like the vibe and the fact that it’s on Melrose made it even better. The parking space was a bit hard to find though. Food was delicious. The taste is pretty mild compared to other Indian restaurant. The spice was not to the MAX like what I usually had. But it’s still in the level that it’s delicious. Saag tofu was my favorite. It comes with rice. Portion was just enough for 1 person.

Good decent sized family run restaurants. Food was surprising flavorful and somewhere had a original curry color to it, the owner , who was also the founding chef of the restaurant further explained the making process and how food colors are added in most of the restaurants. Naans, curries, everything well prepared and well consumed by family members.

Food was OK, but nothing special. Seemed to be suited to US/LA Taste. Dishes lacked real Indian taste. Overall dishes are not well-rounded. Something was missing for perfect taste.

Hands down one of the best Indian food I've had (outside of India ofcourse) in a while. It's hard to nail the consistency on a lot of Indian dishes but this restaurant managed to do it for each and every one of our orders. We got Sev Puri, Aloo Tikki, Onion Pakoras, Vegetable Samosas and then another order of sev puri since it was super delicious 🤤🤤 For the main course we got Butter Chicken, Chicken Nirvana, Malai Kofta, and the Daal. All 4 of these were finger licking scrumptious! We got the usual naan and roti breads to go along with these. The ambience was awesome too. The owner was super courteous and was checking up on us regularly. Good food and great connection is all that makes for an amazing dining experience and we certainly got all of that on our visit :)

The quality of food is great. Salmon tandoori oven baked is 11/10, wheat roti, no cheap short cuts, nice ambiance, great service

My boyfriend and I ordered paneer masala fries and sev puri for the appetizers. Additionally, we ordered 'Fun for 1' thali and roasted cheese dosa. Loved the food, and Rajat (our server) was very attentive and ensured that we had a pleasant time. Thank you for the exceptional service. We were pleasantly surprised to receive two complimentary rice puddings. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience.

This place has great vibe and service overall. Staff is friendly and listen closely to you and recommend dishes. The Aloo tikki just took me back to the streets of Delhi. The only reason I took off a star was because per my spice capacity it was low. But the flavors and quality was bang on!! I am glad we dined here after our visit to LACMA. Can't wait to go back and try some of other dishes. Also the red sangria was amazing 👌

Went with a friend for a late lunch and food was delicious and fresh! I ordered the butter chicken and garlic naan and I finished my entire meal! My friend got a platter which was a nice variety. It was really good and they can make it to the spice level you prefer! I would recommend this restaurant for authentic Indian Cuisine.

First time trying Indian food and I had such a pleasant experience. I walked in and the young man allowed us to choose where to sit. Since it was my first time trying, he happily explained everything to us and his service was amazing. Food is super delicious and innovative. The restaurant is beautiful and clean, there is nothing I can complain about, a complete 10/10
