recently
visited
Lagom
Bistro
due
to
a
recommendation
by
a
friend.
They’ve
been
open
for
roughly
a
year
and
are
run
by
Belarusians,
with
an
interesting
menu
and
space
that
peaked
my
interest.
The
place
is
very
quaint
and
we
snagged
a
nice
table
outside
due
to
the
unusually
pleasant
weather.
We
asked
the
kind
server
for
recommendations
and
ended
up
getting
the
beef
tartare
to
start;
two
pasta
dishes
for
mains
-
orzo
with
salmon
and
tagliatelle
with
prawns
and
bisque
sauce;
and
lemon
tart
for
dessert.
The
server
let
us
know
that
a
lot
of
dishes
are
new,
as
they
are
testing
out
a
new
seasonal
menu.
The
beef
tartare
was
excellent
-
our
favorite
dish
of
the
night.
Perfectly
prepared,
not
too
oily,
with
a
good
combination
of
flavors.
The
pasta
dishes
are
where
the
kitchen
struggled
a
bit.
The
tagliatelle
with
prawns
tasted
overwhelmingly
like
Gorgonzola
cheese
and
I’m
convinced
it
was
due
to
the
overuse
of
fried
onions
and
bacon
in
a
seafood
dish
where
I
could
barely
taste
the
“bisque”
flavor
of
the
sauce.
Likewise,
the
orzo
pasta
was
also
flavor
confused.
While
the
salmon
was
cooked
perfectly,
the
orzo
was
under
salted
and
lacking
a
consistent
flavor.
In
one
bite,
I
tasted
bacon,
in
another
bite,
mussels,
and
in
another
bite,
sage.
Had
the
chef
committed
to
the
lovely
sage
flavor
(or
one
consistent
flavor),
the
salmon
would’ve
been
better
complimented.
Lagom
Bistro
would
do
well
to
re-examine
their
flavor
mixing
on
these
dishes.
If
it’s
a
seafood
pasta,
stick
with
a
seafood
complimentary
flavor
and
don’t
try
to
add
other
taste
dominant
flavors
like
bacon
or
fried
onions
that
drown
out
the
rest
of
the
dish.
The
deconstructed
lemon
tart
with
šakotis
and
white
chocolate
was
excellent.
What
a
delicious
and
unique
way
to
serve
this
dessert.
I
also
thoroughly
enjoyed
their
selection
of
natural
wines
and
the
service
was
overall
excellent.
I’m
keen
to
give
this
place
another
try,
especially
for
brunch,
and
am
looking
forward
to
them
figuring
out
their
new
menu.
