Very short hike with beautiful views and amazingly well preserved petroglyphs. Not handicapped accessible though and may be too strenuous for those who have trouble with stairs.

Easy hike from the parking lot. Some close calls with the thorny native plants. Interesting to see petroglyphs dating back 800 years! Signal Hill is a popular destination in Tucson, Arizona, known for its stunning views of the city and surrounding landscape. The hill is located in the Saguaro National Park, which is home to a variety of plant and animal species, including the iconic saguaro cactus. The hill gets its name from the fact that it was used as a signal station by the U.S. Army in the 1800s. Soldiers would use the hill as a lookout point to spot approaching enemy forces, and the hill was also used as a site for communication using flags and mirrors. Today, visitors can still see the remnants of the military fortifications that were built on the hill. In addition to its historical significance, Signal Hill is also a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers. The hill offers several trails that wind through the desert, providing visitors with the opportunity to explore the unique flora and fauna of the region. At the top of the hill, visitors are treated to breathtaking views of the city and the surrounding mountains. Whether you're interested in history or just looking for a scenic hike, Signal Hill is a must-visit destination in Tucson.

On our way back to Tucson from Kitt Peak National Observatory we made a stop at Signal Hill to see the petroglyphs. Was a short hike up the hill to see these ancient pictographs. Hit the spot just before it closed at dusk and was rewarded with s spectacular desert sunset.

Definitely worth the short hike from parking and picnic area to see multiple petroglyphs and an overlook to the west. Plus, the drive through this part of Saguaro NP is pretty cool.

Amazing to see. Even the grafiti is old! One vandal tag is dated 1950!

It's cool to witness something created so long ago and had endured. The hike is super quick and fairly easy.

Great Petroglyphs. Super short hike. If you are passing through the area anyways, it’s a cool stop, but not sure I’d drive out of the way to see it.

We ate lunch at the picnic area and then walked to where the petroglyphs are. It’s a short walk and it was rewarding to get a glimpse of history.

So close to Tucson and easy trails for young children to explore. Ample picnic areas and close to Kitts Peak Observatory for an all-day trip.

While visiting Saguaro National Park in early May 2022, we walked the short, 0.5-mile dirt out-and-back Signal Hill trail; it was fascinating to see the historic petroglyphs. Be aware this unpaved trail has some up and downs and uneven surfaces, and a rattlesnake warning. It was pretty warm in mid-morning, so be prepared. Restrooms are available here at the trailhead picnic parking area. Highly recommended.

Nice little park. A short easy hike takes you to see the drawings. Dogs are not allowed. I really enjoyed myself.

Brief hike with about 40 ft of elevation gain to access small but beautiful petroglyphs.

Easy short hike that gets you to some petroglyphs in short order. Top of the trail offers views of the valley. Also a good place to enjoy the sunset. There are bathrooms at the trailhead and also some picnic areas offering tables.

Very short hike. We didn’t see the petroglyphs :( It was our first hike in Saguaro, so we enjoyed it. On the next day we did the Wasson peak hike, and it was incredible.
