Most horrible customer service i had in my life. It's impossible to get in touch, they won't answer any calls or reply to emails. Its a very stressful experience when i just simply wanted to collect my passport.

As a Chinese citizen, I usually have some expect to our embassy but unfortunately the service standard is disappointing compared with other embassies in London such as Japan. The reception service is required to improve significantly and the security check is just seems like nothing, which does not give people a good impression. Actually many other staff are very helpful. However, they do need to improve the environment for the consular service room at ground floor and do better update and maintenance of their website. Some information is out-of-dated and the layout and design is not that clear in many cases. Their awareness of service is not enough. My suggestion is: if you are going to apply for a visa to China or any other applications, ask someone who know Chinese and explain all the information carefully so that your application preparation is secured!

There was a huge queue of people who were trying to ask about something at this embassy. It's just that the staff were so inefficient and incompetent that none of the questions were answered for. One day perhaps.

I have tried every method of communication. I cannot get to London to speak in person. Nobody ever answers the phone and every email address I've tried gets ignored. I urgently need some valuable documents legalized, but I'm not risking posting them without some clarification of the process and reassurances first. Does ANYONE have a way of contacting this place remotely?

I was just China be myself, but they didn't let me. I was also very Hungary but there was no food. And it was very Chile inside. The employees were always in a Russia and chased me out so Iran away from there. I'm Ghana go somewhere else instead. But there's Norway to go. Kenya tell me where I can go instead and Denmark it on my map?

Never replied to any of the voice mail or email, never picked up the phone. Claimed to be busy everyday every hour like literally 24/7. Short working hours 9-12 and apparently taking care of the paper documents the rest of the day, lol what a joke. They also give you false information about the opening time just to make their life easier(if it wasn’t already easy enough...) But what can you do, can’t really avoid going there anyway :/

Applying for travel documents has became the utterly stressful experience. The offical webpage adivsed that it would take 3-4 working days but now we have waited for over 2 months. No one replied emails or answered phone calls. I spent hours to visit London twice just to visit the embssy and check the progress and neither was given any useful info. The embassy gave me a number to call and number is not even in use! Also, you will see the most unpleasant toilet in the UK. Now, I have to cancel the bookings for flights/hotels. These people are a perfect show of incompetence.

I see varies in opinion, I found the embassy very helpful, even down to the door person. I didn't get any joy dealing with the visa application centre (at Old Jewry) as the staff there were not experienced in slightly more complicated circumstances. If you have questions, best to come to the embassy directly, get a ticket and wait to ask, the embassy is very easy to find, near Oxford Street station regent Street exit, I tried phone but no answer. Only negative thing I would say is that, the 'first check' of forms and documents you will see people are pushing in a queue already quite long, so stand your ground and make them queue just like everyone else. I got cut in by at least four families, the check process is very quick though if you got everything needed at hand.

The most horrible service I have ever received. I have never written a google review in my entire life, so this says a lot about my experience. Extremely unprofessional and unhelpful staff who will not bother helping or guiding you on any matter. Travelled for hours to get here only to be yelled at for asking a simple question. Absolutely disgusting and pathetic attitude of the staff. Oh and also, they are only open from 9am-12pm unlike what google says. P.s. next time you wanna yell at visitors for asking a question, thinking about changing jobs since you clearly hate your job. Pathetic.

Staff are so incompetent, needed advise about legalization certificates and they gave the wrong advise, knew almost nothing, with a terrible attitude. They are the ones who are meant to run the process. They seem to only be there to have a job and provide zero service for it's citizens.

I made several phone calls in this Monday morning 9.30 am , but was cut off malicious and intentional by the staff ! Horrible management and training service !

Completely useless, rude, stupid, and inefficient. So I was applying for the HK visa. On the embassy’s website, it asked for a few things, which I all provided both yesterday and today (such as the “bank statements in the past three months”—so I provided Aug—Oct). Yesterday they asked for the bank statement for Nov, which I brought today. BUT, they asked for the savings statement today… Well, why don’t they just write things CLEARLY on their website. I know they’re incompetent at setting clear written rules—but they could have told me about the savings statement issue yesterday during the “interview”. I asked the woman why they wouldn’t write and say things clearly. It was a waste of other people’s time. She let me out very rudely. Tbh I’m not surprised at how useless they are. They’ve been completely useless in many ways. This experience just reconfirms my prior belief about them.

The lady picking up the call sounded supper angry and unpateient, wanted to end the call as soon as possible. Very disappointed with this type of poor and rude service!!!

We went there - the basement level - to apply a travel document (travel permit?) for my child. Both experiences - submitting and collecting - were very positive. Everyone - from the security guard to the young lady who checked the applicants' documents, to the staff behind window - yes EVERYONE was polite, helpful and professional. Yes the wait was long but in my opinion that was due to the complexity of some cases, mine included. Just make sure that you follow the procedure, book online first and bring all the documents required.

If I could rate my experience with zero stars it would be more accurate. Trying to get information about the Heath declaration form, website it seems blocked, I called them hundreds time unsuccessfully, sent few emails and never considered. Very poor service

Very poor service. The information I am looking for was last updated on the website in 2013. The webpage really lacks clarity, and has spelling mistakes. No one answers the phone and the voicemail box is full so I can't leave a message. I'm calling another number and after listening to pre-recorded messages I am currently given an estimated waiting time of 19 minutes to talk to a person. I've been waiting for nearly 10 minutes but it still tells me the wait time is 19 minutes. This means I have plenty of time to write this review.

Even 25 years later the Chinese Embassy outdo themselves as being the worst embassy to deal with. I didn't want to give any stars, but it's a requirement to make a review. I actually give minus 10 stars, just to be clear, maybe they will hire some people and be less rubbish?
