JRJ Cultural Hall Once upon a time JRJ cultural centre is one of the prestigious locations to arrange family events. However to my total dismay the quality has tremendously dropped with the refurbishment. The lifts are not working. When climbing the upstairs there are glass doors on the left which is highly dangerous as accidental fall could even risk lives. I am yet to understand why they have put glass doors for no reasons. The condition at upstairs hall is terrible. High time some responsible authorities would take over and do a fine job. Parking is another Big issue

We went here for end of year sale event of some clothing stores. They had them in the ground floor large hall. Its a fairly big hall but gets very crowded when there is a sale like this. The crowd was too much. Not enough space for such sales events. The place is also old and needs to update hall and building.

Built to remember late president Mr. J. R.Jayawardena, who was the first Executive President in the country... This is mainly a conference hall..and few government ministries branches are in this building...Part of the Ministry if Health, finance department of Ministry of Energy, Mahapola funding office.etc..is here. Very little parking available inside..

J.R. Jayawardena was a prominent political figure in Sri Lanka, serving as the country's President from 1978 to 1989. If there is a convention center named after him in Colombo, it might be dedicated to hosting events, conferences, and conventions. For detailed and up-to-date information, I recommend checking local sources, official websites, or contacting relevant authorities in Colombo.

A place to remember with lots of memories its not just a wedding hall , its a place where thy conduct lectures for secondary education (science arena). Still remembered the life changing moments which happened in this place, security ayyas were very friendly, and wedding hall its very cheap compared to other halls an its affordable to any middle class family l, plenty of parking space available through out the premises.

The auditoriums are well maintained. The stuff is great. Very helpful. But it is a shame to see such a prime building going to waste. The rest of the building is fastly deteriorating. These government properties must look after. And also such an historical property.

It used to be a good place when we were small for wedding parties. Even now they source it out for parties. Recommended for small parties. Once the party is over you can relax in Vihara mahadevi park opposite to it.

My experience is only with the second health sector development project office which is in the 3rd floor. The centre is in a central location. But parking within the premises is limited to offices inside. If you are trying to park during rush hours be prepared to park around the vihara maha Devi park and walk to the centre. Under maintained facility. Wash rooms for upper floors are substandard. Has a public cafe at the ground floor. Decent food for standard prices. Seats for about 10. One of the plus factors is frequent bargain sales of well known brands and shops in the ground floor main hall. Look out for internet flyers.

As far as research goes, the J. R. Jayewardene Centre has never failed me. I can confidently say that it's an indispensable one-stop-shop for anyone who wants to hop in, go through relevant books, journals, and other documents, and place an order for a scan or photocopy. You can even procure scans through e-mail, later on.
