Historia. The Duquesne Incline is a funicular! An easy way to go up a hill! And it’s perfectly safe and super cool and yes the workers are always crabby! Just accept it and you will do fine. If you are visiting or live here use this vehicle because it’s a thing of the past and you never know when they will go away. I think my favorite thing was the old ladies who sold the tickets! They were priceless!

One of a kind experience! I was lucky enough to go first thing on a Sunday morning and had the cab to myself. A little rickety and noisy but overall a very unique ride. The view of the city is spectacular! $2.50 each way you need to have exact cash. Also I suggest parking in the upper lot, there's free parking on the streets on Sundays.

The Duquesne Incline was a great experience and perfect view of the Steel City. We passed the station at the top and we’re a bit confused as to where to find parking…while we ignored Google maps trying to tell us to go down to the river area. Ha! Parking was ample and we paid $5/2 hours which was plenty of time. There was quite the climb of stairs and cross over the highway on a cat walk before getting into the station. Once at the station, you purchase tickets -cash only- $5 bucks per person for round trip. Loaded up and up we went. The views are fantastic but for someone like me with a serious fear of heights it was a bit nerve racking. Once at the top, there was a lot of history and picture to see and of course the view was spectacular! If you have binoculars, take them. If not there’s a view finder there for a fee. We decided to walk across the street to the Steel Mill for a drink (to help my nerves) and an bite to eat and then we walked up the hill to the statue monument for more views of the city. We had a great experience and definitely glad we took the trolley ride!

It is a very old historic cable car first built in 1877. They have tried to preserve it. It’s very affordable but you need exact change to pay, no credit cards accepted. The view from the top is quite nice! Other than the view nothing much to do up there.

I grew up riding this incline occasionally and recently took my husband to Pittsburgh and rode it again. We went in the morning shortly after they opened and didn’t have to wait very long in line. A lot of people ride it in the evening to see the city at sunset or at night, so it is quite busy then. They were only taking exact cash for tickets, so I recommend checking their prices before you go so you can plan to have exact cash. When I went this past weekend (May 27, 2023) the price was $2.50 one way for adults, $5 round trip. Once you get to the top, there is a nice overlook area where you can spend as much time as you want before making your return trip as long as it’s before their last trip of the night. I do not recommend for people who are afraid of heights as the incline is essentially a small trolley-like car that is pulled up the hillside by steal cables. It is a classic Pittsburgh experience though, so if you really want to do it, go for it! It is such a great view of the city at the top. There is a paid lot that you can park in. It is across the street from the incline, and there is a covered bridge that you take to cross above the street.

If you like history and incredible views, this is the place to go in Pittsburgh. There's a parking lot ($8) at the bottom of the incline but I suggest you park at the top since they have park meters and it's cheaper to park. Either way you can ride the incline. There's also other view points within walking distance from the incline at the top. You'll probably spend about an hour in this location.

This place is simply Awesome ! And Amazing ! A non descriptive place that let you see the whole of Pittsburgh down town. The incline tramp ride is just so cheap yet it brings about such an experience !. It is something that you cannot miss ! The observation deck allows you to see the whole Pittsburgh area. And the view is just fantastic and awesome. If you visit Pittsburgh. You must not miss this place.

A Pittsburgh must see! Historic and beautiful! The view is magical! I think it costs $2.50 for a 3 hour pass that we also used on the Monongahela Incline. We actually went up the Monongahela Incline and walked along the ridge on top and rode down the Duquesne Incline. There is no air conditioning (it’s historic) so keep that in mind if you go on a really hot and humid day like we did! But you definitely need to add this to your list of things to do in Pittsburgh!

Can't make a trip to Pittsburgh and not ride the Incline. It's literally riding in history. Nice little museum in the upper building. Great views of the city, especially at night. $5 last time we went, can't beat that. Pretty neat trolly.

Basically, free. I had purchased the "All Day Pass" this morning back in Washington Junction and that not only covered my free parking at the metro station, it included the 40 minute journey into downtown and the return, the bus across the river and three local rides in the "free fare" zone and then, amazingly, it also includes the Incline in both directions! I was alone on the car in both directions so I didn't have anyone getting in the way of my selfies or my video of the climb/descent. I LOVE INCLINE RAILWAYS. This is flipping awesome and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

Great views and a unique experience. Only star off was that it was exact cash. I’d recommend taking $20 and using some on parking ($15 for 24 hours) and use the remaining $5 for a round trip ticket. They have change machines, but then you’ve got $15 in coins.

Nice experience and good place to have city view. $5 for both ways up and down. Recommend starting at upper station so that you can come back and enjoy the city view from Mt Washington. They have some history displayed on the walls, you can go down to one of the rooms to visit its machinery which has a long history too. Highly recommended!

It was a truly remarkable and one-of-a-kind experience. The incline we rode on was an engineering marvel, utilizing high-strength cables to smoothly transport the cart up and down the hill. The construction of this incline showcased finesse and techniques that were far ahead of their time. Taking the rope car is an absolute must, as once you reach the top, you're greeted with a breathtaking viewpoint that offers a spectacular panoramic view of the entire Pittsburgh city. The impressive part is that this experience comes at no cost, making it the best way to truly appreciate and explore a place, in my opinion.

If you are visiting Pittsburgh for a couple days this is a must visit location. Park at the bottom in the gravel lot across the road and ride it up. $5 round trip exact change only, cash only. Try a restaurant of your choosing at the top and enjoy the views. Last ride down is midnight. Make a night out of it!

The view from the top is amazing. The train ride was quick and the wait line moves quickly. Lots of history. Bring cash and have exact amount, they don’t make change.

The view from the top is amazing 😍. Costs 2.5$ per adult one way. The last train leaves at 12:40 am. Definitely do visit if you are in Pittsburgh. We visited on the thanksgiving weekend and had to wait about an hour in the queue. Parking costs $5 for 2 hours and is situation near the lower level
