What a brilliant place. It's an old school Pittsburgh bar with great (and cheap) food and drinks. Don't be put off if you aren't a sports bar fan. It's not an over the top 50 big screen TV place. It's low key sports. You can watch some European Rugby or Penguins Hockey and and strike up a conversation with someone that probably knows more about it than you. Or you can skip the sports and banter with friends. And while am not a vegetarian or vegan, would emphasize to those who are that half the menu are those things. And if you aren't, can recommend the Buffalo Chicken and Signature Half Pound Burger (done Pittsburgh rare...), both with pickel chips. Go there. Have fun.

Best gay friendly bar in the South Side. Great service and best selection of drinks. Also can’t beat the prices of drinks. We did not have food, but what we saw it looked amazing. Highly recommend if you are looking to go hang out with some friends.

Finally got to go and the food was great! Was going to go the night before but they didn’t answer the phone or accept online order. Even called ahead to confirm they were open and said would call back shortly. It’s a dive bar with yummy vegan options. Went with the seitan wings and regular. Regular weren’t anything special but friend said they nailed the seitan.

Simply the best bar on the Southside. Amazing bartenders and amazing prices. Delicious vegan options and a good draft list.

If there is something not to love about this place I haven’t found it yet. Food is great and a very good value. Great draft list. I usually have a favorite bartender at different places but theirs are all great.

Solid bar. Great drink prices with a nice selection of whiskey. Love the bar food options. Also nice having tasty vegan options. Pictures tell the atmosphere. Good local bar vibe. Highly recommend.

I like that this place is off the main street and takes you away from the college scene. The food was real good and they had an awesome back area to hang. Vegan or vegetarian? They have good options for you.

I loved this bar! This place had such a Pittsburgh charm with an option to choose your own music. The drinks were cheap and has a casual vibe. The staff is phenomenal...a must visit

Ruggers is an authentic "local pub". Great selection of beers and drinks, and excellent wings and other bar bites. It's a little off of Carson, but worth the diversion.

Nice little Rugby pub, good vegan options, and great beer. Best part is that it's off the main way so it's quieter than many other Southside bars. Recommend the Seitan wings 👌

I love this place. I love all the vegan options and I love that they’re unique and yummy! I hate going out when my only option are salad or vegan burger (iykyk) but this is one bar I just have to get food every time i go. I love the signature seitan salad, seitan wings, and the creative pre vegan nostalgic weekly specials. also the french fries slap.

Ruggers is always one of the best bars with the best people. The only thing that beats the prices is the company. Go Forge

Hands down, my favorite bar in Pittsburgh. Part dive bar, part locals bar, part hidden gem, part sports bar, mostly rugby, with a hint of rock and roll. Cheap drinks, bartenders are all friendly and welcoming - as is the atmosphere. The food is phenomenal and consistent. When in doubt... get the weekly special. Can't say enough about this place!

My favorite bar in South Side, which is no small feat considering the competition. It helps that it’s tucked a bit away from the East Carson riff raff. Welcoming atmosphere, phenomenal food, food, great drink specials, extensive draft selection, and lovely bartenders. Of course their trivia night is legendary, but it seems like there’s always some kind of special event going on at Rugger’s.

Issa bar with my favorite kind of Pittsburgh chaotic energy. It's in no way a football bar but every time I'm here there's a football game and I like the atmosphere. The drinks are cheap, the food is delish and I'll keep coming back every time. I love that parking is rarely a problem here and the tater tots keep me coming back.
