Great location right on Forbes in Oakland. Great staff, super accommodating even late at night. The rooms are well appointed with great furniture plus everything you need for a long stay. I actually would recommend this hotel over some of the more luxury offerings in town.

I had an overall great experience here; the room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast was pretty good, and the staff were generally friendly and helpful. It is very convenient to UPMC, the hospital and other associated buildings - an "easy" walk, so long as you don't mind some rather steep uphill sections. One thing to be aware of: the parking situation isn't great. They have limited parking in a very cramped and somewhat beleaguered looking garage, and if you arrive late there's a good chance it will be full. In that case, there's street parking, but it's metered starting at 8am, or they will direct you to a parking garage about 2-3 blocks away (where we eventually parked) where you can park and walk back. Not the greatest experience in the world to arrive late and tired, ready to sleep and then have to spend another half-hour or more figuring out parking. But, this is in part the price paid for such a convenient location!

By far the nicest residence Inn I’ve ever stayed in and I’ve stayed in a few all over the country. top-notch high-quality, incredibly helpful Staff are all reasons why I put this at the top of my list. The one negative is parking to say it’s tight would be an understatement. OMG probably 100 spaces for a hotel with 300 rooms, drivers get very creative/downright inconsiderate. Lots of “reminders” to take it easy pulling in and out. But besides that just a great hotel, this is a very walkable part of the city with restaurants, museums, universities, hospitals, and parks right outside your door.

You think the Marriot brand stands for something right? WRONG! Unbelievably poor service! When you stay at this hotel for one night you get a clean room. However when you stay at this hotel for multiple nights, or in our case FIVE NIGHTS, all paid at the exact same per night rate as a single, they refuse to clean your room! Basically you are living in your own filth without clean sheets, with garbage, dirty towels, no tissues, garbage bags etc. In order to have them clean my room after 4 days, I actually needed to come down to the front desk and check out!! Then I needed to check back in! Even then they didn’t bother to change the sheets, give us new towels, wipe down the counters, or clean the bathroom!!! Sickening service!! Called down and guess what, house keeping is gone and they have no other similar rooms available. Marriott, stop pulling the COVID BS card to save money and abuse your longer term guests!! The pandemic is over so stop using that silly excuse to no longer offer half decent service to multi night guests paying the exact same per night rate!! Your highly dissatisfied guests in room 309.

I am a Bonvoy member with status and the first thing said to me when I walked in was “points or a snack”. Not “hello” or thanks for being a Bonvoy member! The front desk desk is poorly trained and extremely rude. We had two kids moving into college and had booked this hotel specifically for both SUV’s to be in the garage. When we explained to the front desk woman our situation she rolled her eyes and gave an attitude saying the hotel is completely booked and why would we think we could park two cars in the garage (WELL…we didn’t know and just genuinely asked a simple question!). Then the manager standing next to her says a couple minutes later that they’re not fully booked and that he would let us know later if we could get an extra spot (he was much kinder). The woman at the desk was so agitated by us, not even trying to pretend to understand our concern of having to street park with all of our kids valuable belongings in the cars. She SLAMMED the key down in our face and was so nasty. I will never stay here again. The bathroom was dirty and when we tried to call the desk several times for clean sheets for the pull out (ours were dirty and smelly), no answer from our friend at the front desk. Rooms are dusty and there was a dirty bandaid on our floor in visible sight. The parking garage is so tight we could barely turn our car into the garage without hitting a pole or a wall. I would recommend staying at the Marriott in South Side. The parking situation is better and the staff is so much nicer.

The hotel was nicely updated and we got an unexpected upgrade so it's difficult to complain. That being said, we did find a couple long dark hairs in the mostly white bathroom and the parking garage was scary-tight. Trying to park in there felt like the scene from Austin Powers. All the pillars in the parking garage were dinged-up from people hitting them because it was so tight. The pool was small (smallest hotel pool I've seen) but worked well because we were the only ones there. The staff was super pleasant with us and the hotel was only 17 minutes from the zoo so that was a plus. The hotel did the trick but I wouldn't recommend it for a family.

Location was walkable to the work sites I visited. Disappointed at the room cleanliness upon arrival. Lots of dust around the bed, toilet and bathroom floor, shower had brunette and black hair residue present. Not the expected cleanliness of Marriot brand. There was no dish soap or do not disturb placard in the room. I had to ask for a sign after housekeeping interrupted a virtual meeting I was on. I did check no housekeeping/ decline housekeeping on the app when I booked the room.

Nice hotel located very close to University of Pittsburgh. Rooms are smaller; but very well equipped with well stocked kitchenettes. Breakfast was adequate. Check in / check out was a breeze. Location is great - very close to University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Museum, Cathedral of Learning with lots of dining options on Forbes avenue.

Perfectly serviceable hotel mid-way between downtown and university area. Easy to get to, clean rooms, friendly staff. Pretty much what we expected, but well executed.

I didn't experience the cleanliness issues that other reviewers did, so maybe they are making changes. It's a fairly standard Residence Inn, rooms are fine, common areas are fine. The exception is the gym, it's a little underequipped for weight lifting. There is an adjustable bench, a rack of dumbbells up to 50lbs, and that's it. A cable machine would go a long way to improving the gym situation. Otherwise 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, and a stationary bike. Location is close enough to campus and food options, area seems just fine.

We were here for our friends' wedding and it was wonderful. The location was perfect for so many things (the wedding venue, restaurants, museums). The room layout was great and bed comfy. My only complaint: the breakfast was mewh/nothing special.

I enjoyed my stay here. The room was spacious and clean. Also, the front desk staff was friendly and efficient for both the check in and check out process. Will definitely stay again if I'm in the area.

Best hotel I have ever been in Pittsburgh with a fair price. The room is not small and clean. The staffs are extremely friendly. Here I want to mention Chantz Jackson. He is such a passionate and caring persons I have ever meet. I think the hotel manager should give him bonus for his hard working :) Anyway, this hotel is the place that won’t disappointed you.

The hotel was good with spacious clean rooms and a convenient location BUT, management is cheap and stingy Called front for body lotion - got the response that they have ran out of them. Breakfast: Broken toaster - Cannot even replace with a new one Dissappearing breakfast items - blamed on shortage. Room Cleaning Service staff stormed to clean the room while we were still there. Something seriously wrong with management.

Outstanding staff for warmth and helpfulness. Not a luxury hotel, but the rooms have everything one needs, including a functional kitchen. Location is across the street from Magee hospital and a short walk to the University of Pittsburgh.

The employees are welcoming and the rooms actually look like on the pictures. Neat, clean, and with a well equipped kitchen. The breakfast is mostly various variants of eggs, some meat, cereals, and waffles. There's a gym with weights and treadmills, and you can use a laundry machine for $2. If I come to Pittsburgh again, I'll come here again!

This hotel was a perfect location for our needs (UPMC). Parking garage is definitely small with tight spots but we didn't have any problem finding a spot, and the front desk has a sign offering help finding parking if the garage happens to be full.

Very small rooms, will not stay here again due to incredibly bad parking. Garage has maybe 20 spots and they don't keep track, they just keep selling parking tickets. Many people who paid had to find other parking in the middle of the night. I am a rewards member and we left in the middle of the night. Do not waste your money here. 200.00 absolutely wasted. Late night clerk Marie is exceptionally rude. Not the service or quality you expect from a Marriot

View from the room is great...They just do not change the bedsheets everyday. I got a fully functional room but some others had issue in their rooms.

I’m a Titanium Elite Marriott member and I was never treated so bad by the front desk at any Marriott property including international locations. Complete lack of respect, bad attitude and lack of professionalism by the front desk and night supervisor. I’m in complete shock by the lack of customer service by this property staff especially working on the service industry. The General Manager Kimberly J, MUST address this issue otherwise they will be loosing valuable customers. I’m really hoping that my appearance didn’t play a role on the way I was treated by the front desk person and Night Shift supervisor. I’m certain I will never coming back to this property again.

As a frequent Marriott customer, I can almost always count on a great stay. I was disappointed in this location. The facility is beautiful. The rooms were nice but the cleanliness was not up to par. Our room’s bathroom smelled strongly of urine. I discovered dried urine on the floor all behind the toilet. I called the front desk and asked if housekeeping could swing by and take care of it. We went out for the day and nothing had been touched. I guess housekeeping during a stay is a thing of the past? The whole room just needed a good scrub. Smudgey doors with faint grime. Appliances that needed a wipe down. One positive is the kitchen staff was so pleasant and helpful. They saved this review from being a complete bomb. Almost certain we will skip this Marriott on our next trip.

my best stay so far in oakland….clean, QUIET and comfortable, stellar location…new rooms with everything you could need…even street parking was easy right out front….been looking for “my place” to stay while visiting my son at PITT…this place beats out the Autograph Oaklander which was loud and we had no control over our boiling hot room…will be back for sure

Incredibly clean hotel - which as a business traveler, is the most important part of any hotel stay. However, breakfast was entirely inedible. Gym was also clean but only had the basics. If you’re looking for a clean and updated hotel in Pittsburgh as a bonvoy member - this is it

I stayed in this hotel in my latest work trip to Pittsburgh. It was located very conveniently, near to the downtown, as well as the university area. My room was on 10th floor- it was a studio room with a mini kitchen. The bathroom was great with shower enclave and all. They provided enough clean towels and toiletries. My stay was comfortable. The bed was very comfy with enough lights and sockets. They provide complimentary breakfast in the morning. The breakfast options were pretty decent with oatmeal, cereal, eggs, bacon, waffle, etc. street parking is free, however, limited. They provide some paid parking option too. Again, the space was limited. Overall, I highly recommend the hotel.

Brought a friend for an appointment at the Falk Bldg. The Residence was a very pleasant surprise and experience. We had a beautiful room, nice breakfast and the staff was friendly and helpful.

No parking lot, only parking garage and it costs additional to park there. Room was fine, but standard hotel mattress which I can't sleep on. Breakfast was good.

Stayed here for a month. Nice team here. The best location to stay in Pittsburgh in my opinion. Food options are endless in the 3 mile area and if you are on an academic or health trip, you are right next to everything. Decor is nice and view is nice. Place is super quiet at night. Dog friendly so get to see pups here and there. Pretty clean but not really a deep clean (i suggest cleaning the couch and chair bc that doesn’t seem to be a priority). Snack options are good. The parking garage is just not the best. Some spots are too small to properly park and the entry is super tight for big cars. But there are several street parking spots that are free after 6pm if you are worried about not parking in the garage. Mgt: I recommend putting a sign across from it so that people do not park near the parking entry. Overall, i’ll be back.
