Pretentious and expensive. We went on Sunday for brunch without a reservation and they said there were "fully booked" however they accommodated us, which we appreciated. However there were plenty of open tables in the restaurant. Maybe they were under staffed. Im sorry but $14 for a mimosa is way too much. Eggs Benedict plate for $18 is an expensive breakfast. An expresso (double) for over $5 is overpriced. Service is good and staff is friendly. I think perhaps is the owner that wants to charge extra, for really nothing out of the ordinary. This was the most expensive brunch I've ever had. For 2 people, over $60 and not including the tip, honestly, I do not recommend this place because of the pricing. There are plenty of less priced and highly rated places around this restaurant.

Had Sunday Brunch here today with my wife and 2 young children. It was my daughter’s 10th birthday and she is obsessed with all things French. The food was tremendous but the star of the show was the service provided by Alyssa. It was nonchalantly mentioned at the beginning of our meal that our daughter picked it for her birthday. At the end of our meal, Alyssa surprised her with macarons with sparkler candles on them and the entire restaurant sang her Happy Birthday. You have now idea how special you made her feel. We own a restaurant of our own, and service like the kind that was provided to my family today is invaluable. You’re lucky to have an Alyssa. We will definitely be back. Our daughter hasn’t stopped talking about it. Great job all the way around.

Claiming to be a true French restaurant in Pittsburgh, we had the chance to try it when some friends came to town and we also happened to get a gift certificate to it. The dinner menu was not very appealing but they had a Sunday brunch menu that was, and so we made reservations and tried them out. The four-star rating that I decided to give them is a mix of the good things and not so good things that we saw and experienced. We’ll start with Nathan who was our server. He was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the menu – able to explain things to all of us – and was not intimidated by our questions and sometimes quirky sense of humor. He checked on us frequently throughout the meal and made sure our water glasses were full and if we needed anything. Definitely five-star service. The food was very good as well. Everything we tried was cooked well and generously seasoned. Being French food, butter and fat dominated – which is not a bad thing and you should expect this. On the other hand, there were a few misses. Everything is basically a la carte. When you read the menu, you will see them mention that a salad comes on the side. That is simply not true. There is a garnish of well dressed and tasty lettuce leaves on the side, but it’s not a salad. If you want side veggies, you have to order them separately. We did that, and both the Asparagus in Hollandaise sauce and Haricot Verts in a butter garlic sauce were executed very well (although the beans were not trimmed at all so we did have some stems to deal with). The Eggs Benedict were cooked well, but, again, were minimalist: Two eggs on a baguette, with a squish of Hollandaise Sauce on top. The bigger miss was the prices. This place is super expensive, even with the general inflation these days. Each of our plates was pushing close to $20. Glasses of wine were in the $15-20 range as well. Now, if these were super premium wines that might have been Ok, but we are talking about Aperitifs like Kir and wines like Beaujolais! We ended up spending around $200 for the four of us for brunch! Couple that with the minimalist approach to the food and the great service and quality food balance it out but still come down on the less than great side. ==== Thank you for the prompt response, Monsieur Rongier. The nice thing about reviews is that they are personal opinions. By being that, they are neither necessarily correct, nor incorrect. While I may agree or disagree with you, and you with me. I stand by my review.

If you are unsure about what kind of vibe this restaurant gives off, just read the responses that the owner posts to the negative reviews--I scrolled through some of them and whenever there's a negative review, the owner fights back with a sarcastic and condescending remark: how dare you speak ill of my restaurant, which is the best restaurant in the entire world?! You don't understand French food and therefore you don't deserve it anyways... This in fact reflects perfectly my experience with the staff, especially management, at the restaurant--unhelpful, unapologetic, pretentious, condescending and sometimes maybe even aggressive. Some people might think the food is decent--well, it's only decent because they are the only French restaurant now in Pittsburgh so you can't compare. My food experience here so far has only bland and boring at best, which is ironic because French food is supposed to be culinary culmination of humanity--certainly not this restaurant. Paired with the attitude and prices (your prices were high even before the whole inflation thing so no need to use this argument) here, it's really not worth coming back after your first try. Oh and apparently they have a policy to charge each guest 30 dollars (!!!) for a late cancellation, EVEN if it's due to medical emergency. Yup, you have to go try their world's best food even if you are having a severe heart attack, otherwise it will cost you all the medical bills plus 30 dollars because your no-show for the reservation prevented other people to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime gustatory extravaganza. By the way, lovely owner of the restaurant, I know you are going to come at me with your usual mean and lame comment. But how about, this time, instead of yelling at your customers and calling them dumb and uncultured, think about what you could do to improve the your food and diners' experience? Because I'm not the first one posting a bad review, and I certainly, certainly won't be the last one. Just some food for thought...

My wife, her sister and I went to Paris 66 today at 11 AM. The host sat us at a fine partial booth. Our server Nathan was excellent, the food marvelous and the dessert tasty. The meal totalled more than $300. However as the check came and it was time to pay, we put our American Express cards out, Nathan took them brought them back an informed us that their credit card machine couldn't accept them. The restaurant had had a problem for the last 3 days. We should have been informed by the host before we were seated. We were NOT. He profusely apologized and sent the manager over to the table. He was rude and basically told us it was what it was until they could talk to American Express next week and fix the problem. We wondered why we weren't informed before ordering seeing that that may have been our only method of payment. He said it was unfortunate that we weren't. We explained that this ended our experience on a bad note and said it might be a good idea to at least put a note on the door explaining the problem. He basically told us that was our opinion and basically did not care. Meanwhile Nathan our server was approaching all of his customers and telling them the restaurant could not accept American Express temporarily. Unfortunately this soured the entire experience for us.

A small street frontage connects to a long back space, via the kitchens. The menu reflects a traditional French bistro, but the food was a slight disappointment: the onion soup was scalding hot (good) but more broth than onion; the chicken thighs in cider dish from Normandy arrived with a brown sauce, which wasn't what I was expecting, and came with literally no vegetables. Wine by the glass was decent, if a touch expensive. My server was great.

Amazing restaurant, must come back to try other dishes. My fav was: The rainbow trout & the mussels cooked with garlic, parsley, butter. We also enjoyed the French onion soup, snails in garlic was good with side of fries that was tasty, & Steak was cooked perfectly 👌🏽 goat cheese salad was nice. Must leave space for the chocolate mousse.

Had a decent meal, first time eating French food. Overall fun. Foie gras is nice and “appetizing”, a bit shy on quantity though. Demi-glacé sounds so tasty on paper but it tastes a bit boring. the shank was cooked thoroughly so that is all right. Waiter is great, filling up my water all the time and not bothering me while I am eating. Left this review because I had even more fun reading the owner debate the one-star reviews in French. Keep it up, man.

Food was very good but pricey. Most of the entrees come with no sides $28-$43. Had the trout. $29 which was good but surprised the restaurant can’t find a few vegetables to go on the plate. The Dijon mussels were very good. We also had the goat cheese salad and the salad with the filet… also very good. Had the chocolate mousse and macaroon for desert. All good.

Can’t remember ever going to a French restaurant before but WOW, this was an incredible first experience. The food was all delicious and very filling, atmosphere was quite nice and the jazz music made it even better. Service here was perfect and our server even gave my boyfriend and I each a complimentary glass of champagne for our anniversary which we both really appreciated. More than one staff member wished us a happy anniversary on our way out too which was truly heartwarming. Thanks again for making our night out so special!

A French country kitchen in East Liberty. Pricey if it's not a special occasion. Has been and still is a great second destination for dessert. Friendly and understanding service for non-francophiles. French fare found...facile.

Very clean restaurant with friendly staff and great food. Drinks are absurdly expensive for what you get (18 for a cocktail). Owner comes to the tables, greets everyone, and seems very genuine and cheerful. All in all, a pretty good experience. Recommended.

Pittsburgh friends turned us on to Paris 66 Bistro while visiting, and the four of us went for dinner. And it's a gem. The food was excellent. There were accommodations for my husband's gluten allergy. There's something for nearly everyone, including vegetarian and gluten-free options or adaptations. (There will likely be off-menu specials, too.) We enjoyed a full dinner, appetizers, wine, and dessert. Meal prices align with better restaurants with items at various price points. We received full attention from our servers without it feeling overbearing. The atmosphere is lovely. We felt like we were in France and even got to practice a little French with the owner, who is French (though French isn't needed). There is a parking garage near, beside/behind the restaurant, and street parking. As a closing note, we're a gay couple who felt welcome. I highly recommend considering Paris 66 Bistro.

A taste of France in Pittsburgh! We “splurged” and treated ourselves to this dining experience. First, the atmosphere is spectacular. Anyone that loves France or French culture will immediately fell swept away by the authentic vibe of the place. The food was delicious! We had the Brie w/caramelized onions and honey, short ribs, chicken confit, a side of fries and crème brûlée. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have the boudin blanc (appetizer) but the rest of the food made up for it: well seasoned and deep flavors. Special thanks to Monsieur Rongier (the owner) who helped us immensely to plan a possible dinner party for an anniversary! He’s amazing! Thanks for this dining experience!

Our group of five chose Paris 66 Restaurant for its comfortable outdoor dining, reputation and its exceptionalism in French Cuisine, service, ambience at a location that was convenient to all. Our waiter Nathan was exceptional, professional, knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, attentive, patient, understanding, courteous, gracious and thoughtful with a pleasant and enjoyable sense of humor. All other staff that we encountered are equally professional, courteous and kind. The French food was superb, well prepared, and presented artfully and in good taste. Our sincere gratitude, appreciation and thankfulness to the owner, chief, our waiter Nathan and other staff members, all of whom deserve the best of comments from us and all other customers who know the value and are able to appreciate the quality of the services the Staff provides at a level that is truly above and beyond the commonplace with exceptionally prepared appetizers, entrees and desserts in French Cuisine.

I debated even writing this review as the food and service are always spectacular. This particular trip to Paris 66 started out the same, food and service spectacular. . throughout the evening the food and drinks remained phenomenal and the service slipped to below average to just bad.. Don't really know what happened, but will DEFINITELY go back as I believe something was amiss with our waiter. We all can have a bad day. I highly recommend Paris 66 as I've been going there since about 2009, you won't be disappointed.
