Aldermans Ford Nature Preserve

Tourist attraction Park Nature preserve

👍👍 A beautiful preserve along a section of the Alifia River not far from the conservation park. Trails heading NW loop around the vicinity of the property and SW down to the river in both directions. A lovely little hike for my dog and I. People often mention trail, river, beautiful, park, trails, area, water,

ATTENTION: the address for this is incorrect. The main entrance is off of S County Rd 39. I like this place! Has paved paths and wood bridges. 2 mile trail. It has work out stations through out, found that to be really cool. Bring your bug spray with you! There are pavilions, a place for hammocks, bathrooms at the main entrance and through out the trails. Also drinking fountains through out for you and your dogs. Cost 2 dollars to get in the front gate- there’s a pay station so bring cash. If it rains a lot- it will most likely be flooded trails and you won’t get very far, also bridges will be really slippery. A good amount of parking spots, it’s a nice outdoor adventure you can take!

This place has trails that are unpaved. Also the outside area is rather remote before entering, is well off the beat and path. No security and rundown looking. One portipotty which I refused to investigate. We watch to many crime shows and not a place I recommend for unescorted females to hike in.

The preserve was ok. Most of the hiking is in open field and very tiring during sunny days. It's a loop from parking lot and is not paved but has grass throughout. There is one trail that takes you to the Alafia River and then the trail continues along its side. This can be accessed by taking the trail located to the left of the parking lot and hiking straight till you see the small opening to the river trail. They say swimming is not allowed but when we visited we found a group swimming in river. There are no restrooms. The parking lot is muddy and has space for 10 to 12 vehicles.

Beautiful little trail with views of the Alafia river in some parts. There's also an area it appears the locals frequent to cool off in the river. My son really loved the natural beauty as well and can't wait to go back.

I've always loved this place. Been coming here since I was a kid. Love walking or biking the long trail through the woods and acrossed the river. You can also launch canoes here at the location on the opposite side of 39 for your convenience. Great place to bring the kids to play and enjoy some of Florida's nature and boardwalk.

This is a really cool little place. Usually pretty quiet I noticed some neat plant life saw some deer other various animal tracks, I wandered around for at least an hour plenty of cut grass trails to walk around in it's sort of hidden away and I've seen some beautiful sunsets here the river is not too far but it's a good little walk.

Loved this park! Boardwalks by the water!!! It splits off different ways, concrete path leading to it. Play ground & restrooms on site. (If you end up at the alderman Ford park with is a wooded trail, this one is about an 10 minute drive from that, then the canoe launch is right up the road from this park too)

Always a great walk. Not many animals at this preserve, but beautiful views of the river and scenery.

Always enjoy our hikes here. There are a couple of trails. If you go to the left, there's a river a little ways down (my perffered trail) good for any time of the day. If you go to the left, it's really hot, not a lot of shade, so pack water. We like to hike this one either early morning or for sunset. Eventually, this trail takes you down to the river as well, but it's a long hike. I hope you enjoy this place as much as we do.

Such a beautiful and well maintained park. We enjoy the hiking and biking trail as well as the playground for the kids. Lots of picnic pavilions, too.

Excellent place to walk on all paved just under 2 mile loop. Almost the entire walk has a beautiful canopy of shade provided by oak trees of different types, flowering foliage, palms, grasses that follow the legendary Alafia river. There is also an area on the route of the boardwalk for scenic views over the Alafia river while watching the peaceful steady moving water. This walkway has benches along the paved trail, restrooms near the playground picnic area as well as on the trail itself near the primitive camp trail. There is also a canoe launch area. *Note that after various storms, elevated water and flooding from those storms of years past that many fallen trees, foliage created natural obstruction in the Alafia river area. This shows witness to the power of nature by wind, water and rain. Wildlife and various birds can be heard and seen. (BE ADVISED ALLIGATOR ARE IN ANY WHERE THERE'S WATER in Florida like the area near the main restroom from the boardwalk. SO DON'T GO NEAR THE SHORELINE, OR IN THE WATER, ) Every time I visit this park I study the sheer strength of nature and the resilience it has. *I love my hometown and state.

Nice walking trails and dog friendly! Relatively basic views, but you can see some of the water through the trees.
