On Dec 28th, my wife was injured in an accident and sent to this hospital by a vacation protection plan. We believed there to be broken ribs. The hospital took one chest x-ray (film, not digital), told us there were no fractures, prescribed pain meds, and sent us on our way. We visited our local hospital after we returned home to find at least 9 fractures on 4 ribs, fluid built up in the lung, and a partially collapsed lung. Here's the exact findings from our hospital in the US: 1. Multiple left rib fractures: There are minimally displaced fractures of the left sixth through ninth ribs laterally. There are nondisplaced fractures of the left seventh, eighth and ninth posterior ribs. 2. New small to moderate-sized left pleural effusion with lower lobe compressive atelectasis. This likely reflects splinting due to the above. Avoid this hospital at all costs. Update: 9 months later, she is mostly healed. The total count was 21 fractures across 8 ribs, including 4 major displaced fractures (3 near her spine and one on her left side). She should have had rib plating done at a trauma center the day of the incident. Missing this kind of diagnostic and sending us on our way could have killed her.

On Aug 17, 2022, I was sent to Playa Med by my hotel Doctor for an eye injury during my holiday. My vision at the time was a merely 30%. Doctor Benjamin and the nurse took my blood pressure and vitals to make sure I was stabilized and not in immediate danger, then patiently listened to my medical history. After 45 min or so at the Emergency ward, they advised me that they will have to refer me to another hospital where an Opthalmologist can look after me right away in 2-3 hours. They made the appointment for me and even helped my wife get a taxi. Before we left, my wife asked them "How much do we owe you?" To our pleasant surprise, the staff said there is NO charge since they couldn't help me, couldn't help me? they have done so much, I will forever be grateful. The care, dedication and professionalism was amazing. They all spoke very good English too. Gracias Playa Med, Dr Benjamin and the 2 nurses from Canada

Have to say I was a bit worried about the place reading the reviews. I drove my daughter to the emergencies on the 16th of July at night as we’ve been contaminated by a salmonella in a beachfront restaurant in playa del Carmen and she suffered hot temperature and kidney pain. The check in was efficient and professional, doctor Alejandro Villanueva turned out to be an amazing doctor who helped us a lot, even to reassure us and have the blood and urine analysis results in the middle of the night within 1/2h to prescribe the best medication. Had to come back the day after for ultrasound to make sure that the organs were ok. The radiologist was very professional and welcoming. Overall amazing experience for a fair price : 2800 pesos all exams and consultation included. Health has no price but this clinic prices are fair. Not to mention the clinic is spotless. Even in the middle of the night housekeeping is always around to clean up.

Doctor Marquez at PlayMed was very Professional . Great bedside manners. My son had an asthma attack and was seen right away. Did not wait very much. Price pretty reasonable. Private hospital. Doctor Marquez is bilingual. Asked him to make his notes in English. And agreed to write them in both languages. Not sure if I will get reimbursed back home yet by my own insurance. Payed on my way out.

Most unfriendly , unprofessional customer service I ever met. Also not cleaned and bad smell when you enter the hospital . Very dated looks like in war zone .

We had the best care imaginable for a cardiac emergency. The doctor was extremely skilled and dedicated. The staff were accommodating for both the patient and the rest of the family. We are so indebted to the excellent staff who took what was very nearly a tragedy and turned it into a good news story.

Reading the reviews of this hospital, I was scared to go. But - when we arrived, we were provided great service. The facility was VERY clean, the front desk staff very kind. My young daughter had a slip and fall while on vacation, and broke her arm. We were seen within 10 minutes of arrival, and had x-rays within the next 5. Diagnosis was the broken arm and surgery was suggested. While they offered it there and then, of course being from Boston we declined. They set her up with a cast quickly instead, and were advised to see someone asap to help when we arrived home. The bill was a FRACTION of the cost of what it would have been here in the US. To me, very positive experience with the staff and doctor. (we cut our trip short to come home, and same diagnosis - except 10x the cost here in US)

I actually had a very good experience here. I saw a doctor for my issue quickly, the price was fair and she was very knowledgable and professional (from Cuba). The reception staff was fast and informative. The lab next door was good as well with good prices. I was not here for a major emergency, but I went away feeling like I would come back here.

If anyone wants to get there COVID test done here - DO NOT GO HERE. They don’t know what they are doing, and they charge you way to much. The airport is half the price, and you’ll have your results in 30 minutes

i had very good experience with my pregnant wife their it was a bit expensive but the doctor was all the time their 24 h via whatsapp when we had something we could come all the time and had all the day and night direct connection to the doctor

They saved me and diagnosed me correctly right away. Small facility with good basic equipment. I was transferred to the Cancun facility and both are great. Prices are more affordable than the large hospitals I found out later on. Strongly recommend these nice and professional people.

It was very good there was a very nice doctor. I had a deep cut on my forhead and they took me in BEFORE asking for money.

I had a slip at a resort and went to this hospital for xray. They had me see an orthopedic surgeon right away, I got an xray which identified fracture, prescribed caste and pain kilkers. I was in and out under an hour. Doctor was amazing! And it was such a clean hospital. Xray and exam costs under 2000 pesos.

Horrible hospital with even more horrible doctors and front staff! Incompetent and uneducated doctors who only care about money and withhold information from patients! They almost killed my mother in law due to lack of attention and incorrect medical advice.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. We went to the colon doctor here for some problems my girlfriend was having. He didn't diagnose her right, or took us seriously about the problems we were having. He gave us a bunch of meds we did not need and she ALMOST DIED because of it! She went to go get a second opinion (Colonoscopy) and found out that the problem was very serious and she needed surgery. She ALMOST DIED because of this!!! BEWARE THIS HOSPITAL IS HORRIBLE.
