Yum! Fantastic chorizo tacos, best I’ve ever eaten. The pork tacos are great too. The service is friendly and fast. There is a line at night to get in, usually only about 10 minutes! Well worth it.

A local recommended we try this place out and I wish we would've found it sooner! If you're looking for authentic, flavorful, and fresh good then this is the place. We went when it was packed, but the food still came out fairly quickly and the servers were attentive. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who visits! Parking out front may be taken but the side streets across have meters or you can park in the garage (supermarket) right across.

Great local meals for good price. Try the Nachos con Pastor or Fajitas. Also the bean soup is really delicious 😋 2nd time: we had Fajitas Al pastor, big beans soup and arranchara (beef) with meat. Everyone was happy with their food. You can't make a bad choice in El Fogon. Highly recommended trying this place while being in Playa del Carmen.

a favorite of the locals and its easy to see why. the food is delicious and affordable. it gets busy around 7pm, but the to-go section is a good and fast option still (however, they have forgotten a couple toppings every time i’ve ordered to-go so just check the bag before you leave and they will happily give you whatever you are missing) i recommend getting the las órdenes instead of ordering individual tacos-> it is a better price. i usually order las órdenes de sirloin (cooked on rotisserie like the al pastor) and it is enough for 2 meals for only 120 pesos.

We've been in Playa for a week and haven't missed a day at El Fogon yet! They have both English and Spanish menus, the food is phenomenal and the staff couldn't be more friendly! Extremely affordable and worth the mile walk every time!!! (Pst... I've recently found they have the best sangria on the planet 🍇)

Delicious food ! The service is also perfect, they have English menus as well and staff is very nice ! Keep in mind there’s almost always a line up to go to this restaurant but it is worth the wait ! We got gringas, tacos, chips and guacamole, quesadilla and everything was perfect ! I would go back again !

I would come back here again. Food was great for the value (money spent). Watch out for line ups (it gets really busy at night). It's a tourist and local spot. Fun environment, fed 6 adults, 2 kids for about $80 USD for dinner. I'd recommend ordering their Grilled Plate (but ask for a sharper knife) to cut it up. Their pastor tacos were great, order more of those. You can skip the Sirloin tacos, they are not good (and tough). It's smokey as lots of cooking going on, so you'll come out smelling like you were BBQ-ing. So prepare for that. Would come back and would highly recommend!

There are very few places that actually live up to their hype, this is one of them! Food is authentic and scrumptious! Best tacos in PDC. Actually some of the best I’ve ever had and I’m Latin! Reasonable prices. Good location. This ended up being my daily stop and looking forward to visiting again.

We got some tacos and quesadillas along with a couple of Coronas. This was a perfect Mexican feast, especially the little tacos for about 50 pesos each! They have such a bold and delicious flavor that just pops!

Great place to come to for some quality delicious meats and tacos. I got the Al pastor, sirloin, and chorizo tacos. The Al pastor is the best one I've ever ate. It was seasoned fantastically with aromatic bits of onion! Chorizo taco was my next favorite! Super flavorful and delicious! We paired it with margarita and melon water, which is also fantastic. I can see why this place gets so crowded. Came on a Sunday 4pm. There was a wait of 10 minutes in line before we sat down. Service was pretty fast.

Tasty food for a good price!!! Service was fast and friendly. We got complementary starter with fresh vegetables. Food was exceptional and Mexican atmosphere where locals eat as well.

Great place great food and great service. The price is much more friendly than those closer to 5th Ave. It is only 5min walk from.5th Ave to El Fogon. They are also very fast. So though there may be a line, it won't take too long to get a seat. Plus the food and drink and the price is worth the wait!

We got special meat plate for 6 people. Lots of steak, pork, chicken. It’s always busy but people are efficient there only had 10 min wait. For less than $20 a person including drinks and tips. You can’t beat the value.

The food is amazing. I thought the reviews were bots. No way somewhere has 10k+ and is still up in the 5 star range, but here we are. Well worth the 15min line to get a seat. Would come again, and suggest you do too.

The food at this place is really nice, offering a wide variety of options to eat and drink. The prices are quite fair, making it a good value. One of the best things is that the food is always fresh, thanks to the steady stream of customers. This restaurant is also a favorite among locals, which is always a good sign. If you're looking for a place with great food and a lively atmosphere, this is definitely a spot you should try. It's a great way to experience the local cuisine and atmosphere.

Food was really good. Service can be slow especially during the busy hours and if you didn't give enough tips then the waitress will make sure you know she's mad.

Great food and quick service We came about 6 ish and the place gets very busy after that. Tables open up quickly and service is very good with food so you won’t be waiting long. We had some pastor tacos and beef nachos and both were great! Nachos are a little soggy as they come with beans but loved it all the same. Washed down with Coke Zero and modelo the bill didn’t come to much and you’ll be very full when you leave. Will come back to try the rest of the menu

Great place for lunch or dinner while in Playa del Carmen, we visited two different locations several times and everything we had was great. No issues with overcharging, low exchange rates, or confusions over bottled water as experienced at some other places around town.

Excellent and must go place for their pork tacos!!!! Sooooooo good and freshly made from the oven. We tried the toco loco which is their recommendation. It’s a big taco full of delicious pork. We also order steak tacos. It’s also good too. Besides, drinks are excellent and service too. Definitely go back to them next time when we are coming to Playa!

Scrumptious. Yes, let me repeat, absolutely scrumptious. This eatery undeniably possesses a magnetic appeal, which becomes apparent when you witness the neighboring establishments struggling for patronage while this one is buzzing with enthusiastic diners. The popularity may lead to a queue, but rest assured, the culinary delights inside make every minute spent waiting entirely worth it. There's a minor trade-off for this culinary experience, though - the temperature. This place can become quite the sizzling hotspot, particularly when the weather outside decides to turn up the heat. The lack of air conditioning means that you might break a sweat while enjoying your meal, but trust me when I say the exceptional food more than compensates for any temporary discomfort. It's a small price to pay for the memorable gastronomic journey this place offers. Undeniably, it was worth every bead of perspiration.

Visited Sun afternoon, and the crowd was buzzing. The food comes out quickly and the waiters are personable. Loved that our waiter spoke English & could direct us on the menu choices. They played a variety of Caribbean & pop music. We ordered the guacamole w chips, Chicken quesadilla, the Pastor regular (pork), Chicken tacos, mojito & pineapple juice. In short, I found all the food low on flavor and high on salt so won’t be returning. But I encourage you to visit & draw your own conclusions. One things for sure, the food is definitely cheap.

By far my favorite place to eat so far while in Mexico. The tacos were so good, it was hard to only have a few. The wait to sit down to eat was long, but was definitely worth it.

Great service, good prices, and some tasty local food. Tried the Taco Loco and it is amazing. Portions are big, so maybe eat one before ordering another. If you eat anything with cheese, be aware that it's some white melted cheese that doesn't have a flavour, really.

Yummy wood fired meats! Local Cancun friend recommended this place. Overall delicious and, even, value. Taco is yummy, small though. Chicken Fajitas I ordered came with bean soup, tortillas, nacho chips, a bit of guacamole ! 3 salsas are given at first, which taste amazing ! Paid 360pessos for 4 sirloin tacos, 1 chicken fajitas, 1 pineapple juice and 1 water. Might try couple more time before leaving this area!

Moreover, if you like spicy food then you are at the beat place.
