Amancay Freediving is an excellent organization. I recently completed their Master Training program, and my Level 2 certification. Adrea, and Mari were excellent coaches to work with. They helped me progress more than I thought I could in a short amount of time. They truly care about helping their students get the most out of their trainings as possible. They were excited about my wins, and they did a great job of focusing on my skill development while making sure diving was as enjoyable as possible. I also got to dive w/ Candelaria and Sarah. They were both impressive trainers and made the training/development fun and enjoyable. Antonella was the wizard in the background coordinating all of the logistics and managing my schedule. She was always happy, positive and encouraging. All in all, Amancay has a fantastic team of trainers, leadership and support. I would highly recommend them to anyone at any level of freediving, especially their Master Training program.

Loved diving with Amancay! Did three days of freediving with them and had an amazing experience in the cenotes. The girls at Amancay were very flexible and helpful in scheduling dives, and the training sessions were great. My instructor Mari was amazing, patient, and helped me get some great photos and videos. I 100% recommend diving with Amancay when you’re in Playa/Tulum!

Sarah was an incredible freediving instructor. She presented the content in an easy to understand format, was a phenomenal coach & guide when we were in the water - and most importantly Sarah is a true expert at freediving. She provided me with great support and pushed me to be the best I can be during our 3 days together. I truly enjoy my Level 1 freediving course and it was my first time trying the activity. I can’t wait to go back and dive in more cenotes soon! If you have any interest in learning this activity - Amancay was a perfect school to work with. Make sure to ask for Sarah as your instructor - she is awesome!!!

Amazing place to learn free diving! We had great experience with our instructor Marianna. She’s a skilled and experienced free diver herself and a good teacher too. She’s patient, encouraging and great at explaining the basics. On my first day, I had difficulties with equalization. She explained to me the techniques and how to practice and I was able to get to 10m without equalization problems on my 3rd day.

My friend and I completed the 3-day Freediver Level 1 course with Amancay... and what an incredible experience it was! We had the opportunity to dive in 3 different cenotes, each of which was uniquely beautiful. The experience was extremely rewarding and left us with a huge feeling of accomplishment. Our instructor, Rose, did a great job of pushing us past our comfort zones while making us feel safe the entire time. I can't say enough good things about the experience and the staff at Amancay!

I took my freediving level 1 courses with this club and it was fantastic! We had a wonderful teacher, Mariana, speaking italian, spanish, english... super easy to fit in. The class happens over a course of 3 days and we practice in different cenote every time, which is absolutely unique and a must-do in Mexico. All the staff is extremely freindly, professional and make sure you have an amazing, safe, relaxing experience! They also recorded a few videos of us and shared them afterwards, which is great and give you the chance to see yourself freediving! The club is a gem, don't hesitate anymore!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Amancay Freediving!!! Just imagine the best possible review and this is it! Everyone was extremely friendly, helpful, professional, and knowledgeable. Even the other students and Marianna’s pup, Martina, were super friendly and sweet. Marianna gave me the best equalization workshop, and I was able to equalize every single time!!! Couldn’t be happier! Marianna and Cara were my instructors for 4 days. I got plenty of tips, corrections, and even videos to become a better freediver. Plus, my last day was actually an extra day, because I just couldn’t stop at 3. They made it work by helping me transfer to my next hotel on our way back from the cenote which included making my huge, HUGE bag fit with the equipment in their SUV. And happily, I get to go again in August!!!

Doing the 3 day initiation freediving course was amazing. Marianna took really good care of us removing all our worries and fears. She was patient with my slow start and taught me how to go further. The dives became a visual pleasure and a relaxing experience. We were in 3 different sweet water cenotes with each of them being a little underwater paradise. Just thank you and hope to be back soon !

I loved my freediving instruction & training experience at Amancay. I took the level 1 course last December, and just had to come back for more training last month. Cara was my instructor and she was phenomenal! I credit her for helping me fall in love with the sport. Now, I'm not a natural water person and thus anxious at first-- did not think freediving would be my forte. Cara coached me patiently from 0 experience/super nervous to diving to 20meters confidently. I could not have asked for a better instructor. She explained technique/theory with clarity and she coached with empathy with a lot of individualized attention & care to my needs. With her encouragement, I finally felt comfortable and began enjoying the depth. The other instructors (Sarah & Marianna) were also wonderful and helped me with various techniques, EQ troubles & patiently found me the perfect fitting mask from their own collection. Logistics at the shop was smooth, communications prompt and they were very accommodating with rescheduling (ex: when I got sick last minute). Equipment was was good, transportation to cenotes / dive sites covered whether you are staying in Playa or Tulum and they even took us to some local spots for lunch that were very good. Given the chance to return, I will no doubt be training & taking next level classes with Amancay again.

Amancay runs a fantastic operation for freediving. Cara is the best instructor/coach I've had in any sport discipline, in or out of the water. The other instructors I had at Amancay were also great. Everything was low stress and they were very accommodating when we had to reschedule a few times due to illness, fatigue, or weather. I always felt safe, never rushed, and always encouraged. After the terrific level 1 experience, I flew back months later to do more training with them, and would again. The lunches were really good too.

The average 5 star rating for this place is totally deserved! 3 of us took Level 1 3 day free diving course and was a totally incredible experience. Quality and density of information learned was top level, safety perfect, excellent value for money (considering it includes approx 8hrs lessons total, 3 trips to cenotes with transport & entry included, equipment and everything handled) and the diving itself was a totally exhilarating experience. Andrea our teacher was amazing. Experience of a lifetime with Amancay freediving!

Memorable, ever lasting experience. The trainers are technically extremely skilled and you feel and live their passion for free diving right from day one; exciting. They take care that water dives and exercises are done in absolute safe conditions, so it makes the experience just super fun and relaxed; they also care that you learn about your own body so you gain assertiveness when diving. And what I loved is that Marianna chose different Cenotes, all with a breathtaking beauty underwater: from sun rays mixed in crystal clear blue water falling down tens of meters, to in-water heat clouds of awesome yellow and green colour, or stunning underwater landscapes of rock formations in hundreds of meters all around you. Magic altogether. I could not ask form more. I am repeating in a few months time with Amancay in othe locations; I can't wait to taking my underwater capabilities one step further to enjoy the beauty of nature and peace of mind down there. A big thanks to all the team for doing what you do with such passion and care!

I had had an interest in Freediving at least for two years now. After the death of my father, I realised that being water brought me comfort so I started researching scuba diving and I came upon the sport of freediving. After realising that it was possible to be in the water in a more natural way; this became my goal. For two years I researched schools, locations etc. and I came upon Amancay. I first contacted them a year ago and they were very kind. I was drawn to them specifically because there were female trainers and I felt as if male trainers might be more focused on being competitive. This year, I was finally able to dive with them and it was the most cathartic, eye-opening and almost life-saving experience I've had so far in my life. I was going through a very unexpected breakup and the coaching from Candela, the support from Mariana and simply being around their energy was what kept me sane, motivated and focused. My review is not just about their technique but the human connection that I gained from these lovely human beings. I was in a very low place and the sport, their coaching, their understanding and kind words were what helped me through it. Laughs both in and out the water, precision and detail-oriented classes, secure measures and reassurance that I would be ok no matter what happened. At no time did I feel at risk and I am 100% sure that I would have been able to do much better if not for the situation I was going through, however, I am happy it happened that way! I now have a love and respect for these women and the sport and I'm continuing my freediving journey with them. In short; If you are looking for not only professionalism, attention to detail and assurance but also that kind human empathy that we all need... I implore you to try them out. They're really great! Keep shinning beautiful women! Forever Amancay ❤

Had a great time freediving with the Amancay instructors! They are knowledgeable and caring, even with a beginner group such as the group I was with. I definitely recommend them if you’re in the Playa area.

Great instructors, Andrea was incredibly friendly and passionate about freediving and the cenotes. He was so knowledgeable and it made diving with him so much fun! He also offered to capture some amazing videos for me. I would dive again here next time!

Love this place so much. I cannot say enough praise for my free dive instructor, Andrea. He has such a sweet and calming presence that’s perfect for the activity. I felt safe the entire time & knew he cared about my success. There were moments I was feeling very frustrated with myself & my abilities & Andrea was so kind and patient while giving tips and tricks to improve after each dive. He’s literally amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor! My friend & I took this class together and were so sad the day after we completed the course because we missed being in the class! Marianna, their photographer, is also the greatest! She was so helpful and nice while taking photos and cheering us on during our last day completing our skills to pass. The cenotes are so peaceful & beautiful! Amancay Freediving is so welcoming and fun! Highly recommend 🥰 Much love!

This place is a GEM. Kind, smart, talented instructors who help you to reach your potential, and most importantly, have fun doing it! The cenotes are the perfect environment to both learn to freedive and to take your training to the next level. I trained with Cara, Rose, Cande, and Marianna and they were all incredible. I’ll definitely be back!!

Me and my family went with Cande to La Ventana for an adventurous few days at sea for the Mobula Migration. We had a wonderful time! Cande is an amazing host. She took well care of us at sea but also back on land. We encountered lots of wildlife and we learned a lot about them from Cande. She also helped my husband with his equalization problems. He did a freedive course in The Netherlands, but could not complete it because of equalization problems. We hope to come back one day to complete the course and level up! ;-) We are also definitely coming back for some more ocean adventures in beautiful Baja California Sur.
