My
father
and
I
decided
to
try
the
Whistlestop
for
breakky
following
a
bad
experience
elsewhere.
Context:
I
am
used
to
classical
French
food
on
the
daily
at
home
in
Montana
and
cook
it
all
myself.
We
had
the
Hangover
Breakfast
and
Sunny
Sunrise
(runny
eggs
and
bacon
on
latkes,
with
hollandaise.)
The
employees
here
moved
about
in
a
way
that
gave
the
distinct
impression
that
they
appreciated
their
work
without
mindlessly
schlogging
or
insincere
cheeriness.
The
service
was
attentive
without
intruding.
The
food
was
cooked
with
great
care,
from
scratch,
and
made
with
quality
ingredients,
cooked
whole
on-demand
rather
than
simply
assembled,
and
presented
simply
and
cleanly.
It
tasted
wonderful,
especially
the
latkes,
and
even
the
hollandaise,
which
is
a
very
tricky
thing
for
a
restaurant.
I
am
notorious
for
avoiding
restaurant
eating
because
the
food
at
home
is
so
much
better,
and
am
equally
notorious
for
ordering
menu
items
so
ubiquitous
that
they
cannot
be
befouled,
regardless
of
the
cook
(please
see
"my
mother’s
food".)
I
appreciate
good
food
on
a
level
deeper
than
I
can
express
here,
and
from
my
deepest
part,I
find
myself
saying,
"Thank
you
for
the
meal."
