Went here for the first time as part of my newly developing hobby of day hikes on Saturdays, this time to break in the new hiking boots. Started with the combined Wetland Trails Loops (Teal Trail, Harrier Loop, & Rail Way) that total 3 miles of grass-based paths. Very peaceful and has a wonderful view of the lake that is on that section of property. Then crossed over to the Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park Nature Center to use that as a base of operations to do an out and back hike of 6 miles total on the Darby Creek Greenway Trail, a gravel-based path that winds through fields and along Darby Creek Rd, leading to the old Darby Dan training barn and former thoroughbred racing track. It’s all exposed hiking (aka: bring the sunscreen!) Finalized the time there with the small half mile, gravel and then dirt-based Riffle Trail out from the Nature Center that leads down to spots to be alongside Darby Creek. Very peaceful as well. The park offers plenty of other trail options throughout a fairly wide area that I wish to return and explore. A nice location for hiking overall from my experience.

If you haven't visited this park, you are truly missing out! Gorgeous scenary, nice nature center. And of course Bison! And baby bisons! Clean and very easy to navigate. There is more than meets the eye and you will want to go again and again.

Great time! I'd recommend entering one of the Southern parking areas first to hike by the water and then doing a short drive to the bison area which is at the northern part of the park. There was plenty of wildlife that I saw... Including a furry convention!

I've been going to this park for years. It has lots of great hiking trails and shady picnic areas, decent restroom facilities, good play equipment for kids, a great nature center, and viewing of bison! It also has canoe access to Darby Creek, also a large sledding hill in the winter. Battelle-Darby Creek Park Is a wonderful park with much to see and do!

A beautiful place to walk and talk. You can go off the beaten path or stay on it. Lots of trails and spots to rest. There is a little bit of everything for everyone. Yoga classes during the day. Shelter houses for parties. Trails for animals to walk. Get out and take advantage of the beauty Ohio has to offer. You will not regret it 😊

Enjoyed the nature center and a hike. Very nice park for a metro park more like a state park. Missed seeing the Buffalo.

Beautiful park with multiple play areas for children and adults. There are multiple hiking and biking trails with gorgeous views. Not far at all from the greater Columbus metropolitan area.

My daughter and I took the 5 mile round trip backpacking hike. Early spring but still a few wild flowers coming up and blooming.

Beautiful park! Good amenities such as restrooms, shelters, bbq pits/grills and volleyball courts. Very impressed by cleanliness of park area and river. Recommend water shoes if your swimming. Super rocky!!

This park is spectacular, there's so much to do here. There's a volleyball court a big wide space were you can play football, soccer, freesby, a basketball court and two areas were the kids can play. The trails are awesome, one trail takes you to the nature center were you can see the Bison run free in their habitat. It's a must to visit this park.

Huge and absolutely phenomenal Metro Park with all types of walking, cycling, and hiking trails perfect for the beginner or advanced. Lovely nature center, and the highlight for us is coming to see the bison. Check the map to see where restroom locations are as well as which trails are dog friendly. Some water fountains on site.

Great trails to walk. Well kept. The Wet Prairie Trails is really nice grass path and a perfect 5K (3.1 miles) if you do all the trails.

Oh my goodness 😳. If your not in with the people who cherish this "Park" don't go there. I had people from the main building and the 2 Rangers constantly drive past our car and when we walked around it was like we were being followed. Weird, just a weird place. Go to Clifton Gorge instead. But if you are weird go to Glen Helen instead. That's where my son is taking a gap year, Lord help us.

If you want to see the Bison, stop in at the nature center. They have cameras and will locate where the herd is at and let you know how to find them. The nature center is extremely nice, they have definitely spent more resources on this metro park than any other in Columbus.

Love going here to bird. Have seen several uncommon species of duck, Northern Harriers, Kestrels, swamp and tree sparrows, sand-hill cranes, and others. The trails are walkable and wide. Great park.

Best Nature Center in town. Being able to pet the fish is crazy cool. Lol Bison. Who doesn’t love Bison?? The trails are gorgeous.

My daughter had her baby shower Feb 25th, 2023. It was a good party we had fun the food was yummy 😋 the cake was beautiful. The building was nice with plenty of space for food and seating for people

My family loves this park. It is clean and well kept. The play areas are nice for a variety of ages, and the walking paths are also enjoyable. They have lots of gazebos and green space for people to hold events. My daughter did get a tick here, but it's in the middle of the woods so I don't think there's anything that would help that. We recommend this park to many people!

This place is well kept. Most of the shelter are surrounded by mature trees which helps you feel cooler on hot days. My kids took school field trips here & we all love it.

  • 5/5 Ben H. 7 months ago on Google
A beautiful park with a variety of trails, play grounds and even some Bison.

  • 5/5 Justin G. 7 months ago on Google
A great place to get in a long run that isn’t on hard surfaces. One note of caution: the longest trail (a 9 mile lollipop trail) does not have a lot of shade. Wear sunscreen and consider staging water for yourself at one of the accessible parking areas along the route.

We love going down to the creek while at Battelle. There are numerous trails of all different lengths. This has always been one of my favorite parks!

My grandchildren and I just love going here. They have so much fun exploring and having fun just being kids. I really appreciate the people that keep it looking so good and the kids even cleaned up some trash they found. Saying the whole time that it's what they should do to keep our Earth as clean and beautiful as they(and we) can. So that maybe, just maybe their children can come and enjoy all the wonders they can find in this and other parks like I. Thank you for all you've done. 💯💯💯

They have two play area's. One for 5 and under and then one for over five. There are different levels of walking trails. Of course I did the hard one. Not on purpose. So beautiful.

My group from work had an end of summer picnic today. It was less than 20 people. We all wore our masks and social distanced. It was chilly but an absolutely beautiful day day!! We played some games and walked some trails and cooked out. We love this park!!! It's so clean and nice!! And the best bathrooms going. Thank you Battelle Darby for always giving us such a great experience!

I love this park! I got married here at the overlook on September 3, 2005 and it was beautiful. The only thing that I wish was different is more seating on the overlook or the trail leading to. OR or more space to put chairs. Other than that, if you want an outside wedding,, September is the perfect time to do it because it's usually warm and dry.. It was sunny and 85 on my wedding day! :)

For the west side of Columbus probably the best sledding hill in town always take the kids there to go sledding walking paths are also extremely nice

  • 5/5 Sterling M. 3 years ago on Google
Took my little buddy here to walk and boy did he have fun! So did I, if I'm honest. Walked a couple miles through beautiful scenery, sun and shade, gorgeous nature and even got to see some fighter jets!

  • 5/5 Courtney F. 3 years ago on Google
We went on a beautiful snowy day. The bison were grazing and the paths were pretty much empty. We enjoyed walking a bit and we're excited to come back when the weather is better.

Nice area to walk dogs and jog. Watch out for cyclists

  • 5/5 Pearce E. 3 years ago on Google
Nice park, stuff for kids to do, anything from easy paved, nearly level paths to fairly steep hills and gravel paths. And, of course, the Bison (they are in the picture, but look far away. They were much closer than they appear). Also, whenever the nature center reopens, it is quite nice.

I wish there were more trails that let dogs on them. It was kind of hard to figure out where I was, while looking at the map I was carrying around. But it is very nice, especially when the buffalo are out (I saw them) and at sunset! Will be back!

  • 5/5 Angelita R. 3 years ago on Google
We love the renovation they did to the playground. It's spacious enough that social distance isn't to much of a problem.

Great park for exploring nature & finding local wildlife. The Cedar Ridge playgrounds were replaced with new equipment last year in 2022, which is nice for the kids. Lots of great trails (although most of them are not paved) and different habitats. Darby Creek is a beautiful park in every season.
