👍👍 Church was built in 1832! It’s a small church with a small yard in the historical part of the old city. This is a water source in the yard and there are also some benches. Also there are beautiful fresco murals inside. Good place to take a rest and to think about. People often mention church, small, town, Plovdiv, beautiful,

A bit cramped in the old city, there are nicer churches in town but it is a historic landmark and well worth seeing. I stumbled upon a sermon when visiting on September 14 and it sounded really nice.

If there's a church in the old town of Plovdiv that has location, beauty and charm to spare, the St. Konstantin and Elena Church must be it. As in many other things in this part of town, the architecture is a typical mix of east and west. The icons are memorable and the garden, hiding behind high walls, is a delight.

One of the oldest churches of the city, built originally in 337 at the sight of an ancient pagan temple in the acropolis of one of the fortified hills. The actual building is from 1832 since it was destroyed and rebuilt several times. It is a charming spot in the old town of Plovdiv to visit.

Introduced to this via the walking tour and loved it so much at first sight that I decided to come back after the tour. A brief history of the church. It is the active oldest churches in Plovdiv, this church is named after Emperor Constantine and his mother Elena. The current version was built in 1832. Laying behind the old walls is a wonderful cozy church. The small scale is partly to the influence of the Ottoman Empire, which prioritized Islam as the main religion. Despite its small size, I felt really peaceful and happy while sitting outside the church on the benches provided. The background conversations, birds chirping and the wind blowing made the whole sitting an enjoyable one. The wall fresco paintings was simple and delightfully soothing. The interior was beautifully decorated and there is apparently regular maintenance as I saw someone doing some sort of repair works on the interior. This place is worth a visit to just sit and enjoy the peace. Also, take note that the interior does not allow taking pictures.

A very different architecture of the church as it was built during Ottoman period. It looks like a house with a flat roof but is beautiful orthodox church from inside.

Although on the outside you wouldn't be able to tell, with a simple clean exterior, inside the church is beautiful, with ornate golden and well preserved/renovated icons and murals. There is no entrance fee and everyone is welcome to visit the church and walk around the quaint garden in the surrounding yard.

Interesting old church founded in 4th century near the old gate Hisar Kapia in the old town of Plovdiv. Walls and ceilings are covered by paintings in blue tones. The iconostasis looks well decorated. Though the smell of candles was too strong for me (never had this before).

A clean, beautiful, well-kept church, we were lucky to see a little of the restoration work, now I know how to apply gold leaf.

It is a beautiful church with lovely grounds - lots of flowers and a couple of benches to sit down. We got married in this church and this summer we got our daughter's christening here.
