It is so beautiful! Please, make a time to visit! If you are not familiar with the history of the place there is always someone how can help with that.Nearby you can find honey and wine from the producers and a lovely painting from a local artist.

One truly well maintained monastery. You really enjoy the time spend here. Everything is well organized with signs and rest areas. The road to the monastery is fairly well maintained and easily accessible. There is also small market where you can buy souvenirs and local foods and drinks.

A fantastic place to visit. Parked in the lot outside (3lv) and then wandered around the monastery, which is absolutely lovely. The frescoes were wonderful - so much detail, and beautifully painted. Such a sense of peace and calm there. Afterwards, we had a delicious lunch in the little restaurant opposite the monastery with a balcony overlooking the river: it's not marked on Google maps but it was lovely - delicious food and a friendly little family running it. Highly recommended!

The monastery is renovated ,nice and clean. Parking is paid right infront of the monastery entrance , and to the right side of it. If you however take left from the monastery pass a small bridge , and there is a free parking very close. In the area there are quite a few places to eat. On holidays is crowded.

Historic, serene and spiritual. The grounds are kept beautifully, flowers everywhere, impeccably clean. The church is rich in history, quaint and has amazing frescos and icons.

Definitely more than what meets the eye at first sight and worth the visit. Only not very accessible by foot, sadly. Great drawings, thomb and complex as whole. A little weird bazaar outside, but other than junk, there's also some regional stuff you might find interesting.

Beautiful monastery, very well maintained and clean. We stayed there and it was an excellent experience! For 50lev (1 night/2 persons) we got a twin room with private bathroom, very neat and clean, fresh and comfy sheets. We had also a fridge in our room. It was very nice and the monks were very helpful too. We were very satisfied. There are some shops and restaurants outside the monastery

The interios of the monastery is simply devine. All of those paintings covering the entire building. The musium dispays are very interesting. The whole place is such an important piece of Bulgarian history! It is definetely worth the visit.

Despite the fact that Troyan monastery shares the 2nd position for being the biggest, it is a bit off the general round tour interest. And may be this makes the monastery so interesting. It is difficult to describe feelings so my advice is - if you have the time you should go and visit it!

Must visit place if you are in the area! It is one of the most visited monastery in Bulgaria. It is a third largest in the country and is build in the end of 16th century. Situated in the end of the scenery village Oreshak ( famous for its abundance of walnuts trees ). There is a special room, where national hero of Bulgaria Vasil Levski stayed, while he was in the region. Plenty of parking space plus good restaurants nearby.

Beautiful architecture, beautiful history and lovely nature around but there was one thing that i would suggest... Please, Please, please put all the Images and ICONS from the museum in a glass pods. I saw there where lots of them free to be touched which is not okay for such an old and historical exposures.

Great place to visit. The Trihanded icon, in the main church, in the center of the yard is fantastic. Also there are a couple of museums with interesting artefacts on the 3rd flor. Front left of monastery entrance there is a ossuary. If you continue right, once you get out of the ossuary, there is a small graveyard, before which on left is small stone chapel with amazing icon in it. Behind the graveyard there is a water fountain placed on some kind of a terrace with incredible view.

Very spiritual place.. It's where Vasil Levski used to chill and hide From the ottoman solders... Great to. Say a prayer. And light up candles for dead people and for prosperity. It's kinda pricie... 3 leva to. Go and see a couple of room's.otherwise very ancient!

Great historical place. The main point of interest is the icon of the Holy mother with three hands made of silver. Other than that it's one of the biggest monasteries in Bulgaria, holds its own museum exhibition and has a spring with holy water. It also offers accommodation, has tavern and a market for traditional Bulgarian crafts and souvenirs outside.

Though smaller, this site rightly ranks with Rila Monastery for art and architecture. It gets a boost for its role in Bulgarian revolutionary history.

Amazing place inside! But public place outside, with all those derelict soviet type shops and pavements... and tree branches hanging too low... Come on! It's not rocket science to clean-up and make pavements smooth again! 👍🏼😎

Completely gorgeous. Its name is Monastery of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God. The church was reconstructed during the Bulgarian National Revival period. Inside and outside pictures are dated in middle XIX siècle buy the same painter of Rila Monastery. It holds one of the holiest icons in Bulgarian Orthodoxy: the Three-Handed Virgin. You can buy souvenirs, have lunch and even stay in the monastery.

👍👍 Every time I visit the region I make sure to come to this place. It has amazing works of local artist and craftsman.
