There are 2 disabled bays that I saw for this restaurant, which weren't enough but there was plenty of other parking and you didn't have any steps to get inside as everything was ramped. When booking online you're asked for any special instructions too. The carvery was as you'd expect, although I'd have loved for there to have been laminated guides as to what constituted a portion size displayed with the vegetables, or serving spoons that help a portion each. Let's just say that nearly my entire day's calories were spent on this meal but I certainly won't need to eat until at least tomorrow after that! The chocolate fudge pudding was a large portion and the ice cream probably hadn't ever even seen a cow, but I enjoyed it for all that. My companion's coffee with hot milk wasn't very warm at all, unfortunately. The one aspect that really stood out was the level of service and friendliness from the staff. From being greeted on entrance to all through the meal, the very busy staff were excellent. When I was putting gravy on my plate, as I walk with a stick, a member of staff who happened to be passing asked if I'd like her to carry it to the table for me. It was done well without making me feel bad about needing the help. Well done to the team there.

Had a lovely family dinner last week. Our server Shane was so helpful and friendly! Food and drinks were perfect as always and we didn’t have to wait ages for them either. The carver on shift, Dan, was very welcoming too! I would definitely recommend coming here! 10/10!

Dropped into this Toby for a meal today. Very busy but the young lad at the front desk was helpful and found us a table quickly. The menu was relatively limited but being quite hungry we quickly settled on our choices. One of our party ordered a meal with garlic bread. Within 10 mins the garlic bread was bought to the table and we were told our food was ready for collection from the 'carvery deck'. The collection from the carvery deck took a fair few minutes as they'd run out of veggies, by the time we returned the garlic bread was cold. The food itself, was not good, roasters were under cooked, cauliflower cheese was also under cooked and covered in a thin tasteless cheese sauce. Pies were salty, Peas were fine and carrots too. Yorkshire puds were flat & rubbery. Overall not a good meal. Definitely not worth the money. ***** Quick update the Toby has acknowledged my review and offered to find a resolution to our experience, which is incredibly decent of them. And I should like to thank them for this opportunity to do so.

We arrived early as we caught the bus! We could see that there had been an extremely busy morning and things were running late, plus we were informed that there was a shortage of staff. We had a drink at the bar and watched as all the staff hurried , as a team, to make the place clean and presentable. Five minutes before our scheduled booking time we were shown to our table. The carvery was according to my wife " The best I've ever had in a restaurant" and I must say that I agree with her.

Rather disappointed with this visit. The waitress we had was extremely rude and unobservant. We spent 15 minutes trying to get her attention to order our starters and she made no effort to even say hello. Her friends were clearly in the restaurant as she spent all evening speaking to them. We had to ask her for cutlery 5 minutes after our starters arrived. We also had to listen to her run round the restaurant looking for her nose ring which has clearly fallen out during her shift. It was extremely unprofessional especially in a restaurant setting that her jewellery has fallen out. Furthermore, we also ordered two bowls of pigs in blankets that never arrived. An overall very disappointing meal which we have been planning for a while. The only good thing I can say about this place is that the bar tender was very chatty and friendly. Definitely will not be returning

The visit started poorly as it took me over 10 minutes to find a way to get into the building, due to my using a walker that will not go up steps and there being no signage to guide people who cannot climb steps. However I do realise that it may be easier from the car park to find the way (if you parked in the right spot). I enjoyed the food at Toby Carvery as it was nicely cooked and you could take what you wanted. The only difficulty was in taking the food to my table as the seat on the walker I use slopes very slightly meaning the gravy on the plate slid off & onto me & the floor! Someone came to the rescue and took my food outside for me. Unfortunately it meant I sat in the sun, whereas the table I had chosen was in the shade (I dislike too much sun). As most puddings have sugar added to them, these causes difficulties with my diabetes. However I mentioned that the only pudding I could have was on the children's menu and they ensured I had the fresh fruit bowl and even replaced the chocolate sauce (which I would have left) with cream. The banana and strawberries were at perfect ripeness and thoroughly enjoyed. Incidentally the staff were also very good to my assistance dogs in bringing them a bowl of water. The only improvement I would like is easy to see signage from the front door to show how to get to it using a walker, wheelchair, etc.

Booked ourselves a table for the family and made to feel very welcome bye all the staff. There is two size plates available and i must say the regular is more than enough for the average eater 😉 they had a good selection of meats to choose from and nothing on my plate wasn't worth eating, definitely will be back. They have wheelchair access and with ample parking. There is also a spacious outside seating area as well as indoors. Thank you we really enjoyed our meal and visit.

I booked online for breakfast with Santa for my 2 children arrived all was good spoke to a helpful young man who explained breakfast had just finished but we would have dinner which was fine! Poppy took us to our table where we asked if someone would come and get us for the children to see Santa and she said “Yes take a seat and someone will come and get you when it’s your turn “ a short time later I went to the bar and asked if Santa was on a break as he had gone to which I was told it finished at 11am! I showed them my booking for breakfast with Santa and the lady apologised and said it should not of let me book and Santa had gone and there was nothing she could do! So not only did it cost £58 for food it then cost me a further £28 plus another 2hrs queuing to take my autistic children to see Santa! This was a complete and utter disaster and expensive day which the day before Christmas was an expense we couldn’t afford! So our quiet Christmas Eve turned into a fiasco and expense!!

First time to Toby Carvery and was quite disappointed. When we ordered (the roast dinner), we were given empty glasses, cutlery & no receipt. Absolutely no direction or information on where we actually get our food & drinks, had to have a walk around to find it ourselves which was a bit of a shame as seems like the kind of info that should be offered when ordering. The girl serving us was possibly new and maybe didn’t know to provide customers info like this. The food was lovely just a weird experience getting the food and probably wouldn’t go again because of this sadly.

Today we were served by Brad who was very accommodating and helpful with my dietary needs. He sat with me to ensure I know what I can and cannot have. The atmosphere was calm in the restaurant and the food was amazing as always.

A bit out of the way from Plymouth, and awkward if unfamiliar with the area. Look out for the entrance to the unmade part of the car park, my car had a nasty scrape on the underside from the poorly made surface. The staff were lovely - helpful and attentive. The food, whilst reasonable value, was particularly great. I paid extra for the larger serving, but they are rather stingy with the meat - a paltry 5 slices in total. I had a mix of gammon and turkey; the turkey was passable, the gammon rather fatty and very salty. The veg was pretty plentiful and the roast potatoes were fine, as was the cauliflower cheese. However, the peas were like bullets and could probably be used as ammunition by the armed forces! The carrots looked unappealing, so I didn't bother with them. I did get two large Yorkshire puddings, which were nice. However, the cynic in me wonders if this is a ploy to fill the plate with air and reduce the space for food. We didn't bother with the puddings, as we were satiated with what we'd eaten. All-in-all, it is a dining experience that isn't as good as home cooked, but is convenient and fair value compared to other options. It would-be my first choice, based on the quality of the food, but the waitresses were very nice and the establishment fairly pleasant. Be warned though, at time of visit, there's an alternative entrance without working lighting along the route.

There was a mix up with our drinks order. The carvery was good as usual. However I did find some of the vegetables were not too hot. The honeycomb dessert was enjoyed by my wife and I

This place is absolutely wonderful. The customer service was outstanding. The food like always was delicious it was almost impossible leaving without a second plate. The music through the speakers wasn't too loud or too quiet. The waiting staff were polite and cooperative. Overall I find this place amazing

We arrived for a late carvery and we’re greeted by a very happy and Cheery Ryan, usually hidden away in the kitchen, he made the initial greeting above what we could have expected. With a laugh and a joke we were quickly seated and back up at the carvery station with Ryan again. He carried on his service with a smile and leaving us with an ever lasting memory. We have never had such a pleasant and genuine interaction with a staff member before and will definitely be back thanks to this man. He deserves a raise and an extra week off for the amazing service he’s giving! Keep it up Ryan, you legend 💜

this was my first visit to Toby Carvery. lovely staff - our server was very friendly and sorted our drinks really quickly! the food was good, although I heard a few people mention that there weren't as many options as usual. our seats were comfy although due to where we were seated, my chair would rock every time somebody walked by which was a bit annoying as we were right by the buffet table(?)! other than that it was a lovely experience and we will be visiting again.

The food as always was excellent , and such a lovely chef so polite and always has a smile on her face for every customer . But the waiting time for someone to come to the desk to see to you was absolutely so long that we could have cooked a full roast ourselves , and to get a drink at the bar and pay for our meal was equally as bad . But in saying that it wasn't no fault of the staff , the bar girl would serve one person then say excuse me then go and clear away and clean a table , then come back and serve the next customers , in the mean time the young lady at the desk was also no where to be seen , as you can imagine there was a long queue and people were get annoyed, again no fault of the young lady who was also clearing and cleaning table's and relaying them . I can never understand why you put your staff under so much pressure they work there socks off as it is ..... ( apart from saving a bit of money on a wage ) the service needs some attention, we will not be returning in a hurry I can assure you , we would rather go elsewhere and pay extra if need be and get a decent and proper service. No it was not a peak time that we went , It was quite quiet when we got there at 1.40 , and if you are going to put a deal on of 50 per cent off , it would make sense to get in extra staff for the customer's taking up this great offer .

I booked for Christmas Day Dinner Takeout at Toby carvery Plymouth, and it was lovely! Saved the cooking, and pots and pans, especially as I was working on Christmas Morning. The food was delicious, more than enough for us, well packed and Cara was very helpful sorting the order out and helping me to the car with it. Will definitely be doing this again!

Absolutely fantastic!! We have just arrived home from breakfast with Santa. Over the years we have done this 3 times in different places then today was our 1st time at Toby carvery Tavistock road breakfast with Santa… This is the best one we have ever been too. Not only were the prices amazing and good food that is nothing in comparison to what you are greeted with there. As soon as you walk in there are 2 elf’s this made my 5 year old very happy. Once this kids were seated I went to different area to fill in forms … this was the best part the info on them for each individual child meant that both the elves and Santa shocked the kids by knowing there names and everything they liked and disliked …. This made this even more special. Santa took time to sit and talk properly to the kids and they even got an invite to go see him so was very well organised he made the kids smile by telling them how many elves he has working in each toy shed …again adding even more excitement to the experience. The elves themselves nothing was to much for them they accommodated us well and were very much the friendly elves the younger ones definitely want to see. You were all amazing all of us come away from there feeling like Christmas is finally here. Thank you so so much x

The cauliflower was over cooked and had oil on it, the Yorkshire puddings were like cardboard, the roast potatoes were like they had been there all night. The rest of the veg was nice, gravy was nice , and turkey and gammon was lovely, need to try better I think. The staff were polite but waiting 10 mins to be seated because only one person came to seat us, was ignored by everyone else.

We went to the Toby for 'Breakfast with Santa' and what a wonderful experience it was! Great breakfast, friendly approachable team working really hard, who completely engaged with the occasion, inviting the children up when it was their turn to see Santa. Santa himself was fantastic - he gave each child so much time, was lots of fun, kind and ensured they created a great memory. All in all, a fantastic experience for which we were grateful (and we were so full that we didn't need any more to eat until the evening!).

Good food, but the service left a lot to be desired. We were there for well over an hour, and our server only came to check on us once. Tried to order pudding and after speaking to the server, he just vanished for the rest of the evening. After waiting 30 minutes we decided to leave and get something elsewhere as the wait was unacceptable. The food was nice so couldn't fault that. Just a need to up the attentiveness of the servers

Food (carvery) was very tasty but only just warm instead of piping hot. It got cold halfway through eating it which wasn't a pleasant experience. There was a mix up in the table allocations when we arrived even though we prebooked days before so had to wait a while to be seated.

The service is a bit slow and the managers don't ensure there is always enough food available, such as not always having consistency in the food on offer. When I went up there was A B C on offer, when my partner got his food there was C D E available, only 15 minutes apart. The food is really good though and good value for money. We love going to Toby carvery

The food was absolutely amazing when we went, however the service was appalling. We arrive at 4:55 ready for our 5pm booking, we were asked to order a drink as the table we were due to be sat at we’re just paying. We were not seated until 25 past 5 and then had to wait for new food to be put out and so didn’t get our food until 5:45. We had no knives at our table and had to ask 2 members of staff for some before we actually got any so we could start eating. My partner sized up on his carvery to the king size. He had the same amount of meat as I had, there were no sausages available so he just had the extra Yorkshire. When I asked a member of staff about it he said he would check if there were any and if there was he would bring some out to us, but if not he would let us know. That member of staff failed to return back to us and continued walking past our table but didn’t confirm that there weren’t any. Members of staff were stood around talking when other jobs were not being completed. Very disappointing when the food is so lovely but the service truly let it down!

Edit* your response and offer of any resolution further just highlights why anyone thinking of visiting should think again and for some reason when I check from another persons account my review cannot be found??? Second unpleasant experience we waited 10 minutes for front of house to even acknowledge us then sat at a disgusting table went to the servery and told rudely it'll be at least 20 minutes after our booked time slot (no apology or any manners) but seemed to be having a great time with his colleague. Then my partner went to the bar and was ignored and 2 people were served before her although she had being waiting longer Terrible place avoid at all costs better off in a rat infested wetherspoons filled with p155 heads and under trained staff, supervisors and managers Literally nothing positive to say about the place at least 3 other customers walked out

Food is good generally and the service is good. We recently made a visit knowing it was busy on a Sunday but knew you could eat in the bar if you could find a table. After getting excited about finding a spare table I called my family who were waiting to see if I could get seated. They came in and went to the bar to find out they could not serve us as they didn’t have enough meat to cover their current bookings. Disappointed to say the least partly my fault but would be a good idea to state this somewhere on maybe a sign on the door because if you are a regular sitting in the bar has always been an option for me anyway. Hope this helps others from thinking they have beat the system of booking a table in advance 🥴

We are from Cornwall and booked as a special occasion as we don’t have a Toby’s Carvery down here for 8:30pm after our cinema trip, upon arriving, we were shown to our table and the bartender who I have a lot of praises for on this occasion, took our drink order & served us them but unfortunately no one came to our table to take our order, 20 minutes passed and I had to eye down a waiter to grab his attention. We was told to go up to the carvery, the “chef” if you could call him that, was sweeping the carvery floor on our arrival, if you’re booking a table during opening hours, you expect a place to look open, but to me, it felt like we was a hindrance because he had to stop sweeping to serve us. He served my partner a rather FATTY bit of gammon, which I wouldn’t even feed to my dog! Surely as a chef you’d know what was and wasn’t acceptable to serve a customer. A very apologetic lovely waiter got some turkey for him instead but was on the dry side! All of the vegetables had dried out, well, what was there. There wasn’t a very wide spread of vegetable available, we was almost getting the “left overs” from the busy Sunday rush. A waiter was clearing the gravy section, again, if you’re expecting bookings, why clear things? How can a place who specialise in a usually good carvery fail, I mean you serve a carvery 7 days a week, how can you not get it right? I had to then request Yorkshire puddings because again, there was none on the hot counter. The Yorkshires were obviously left over and warmed through when requested because they had that very soggy texture to them, no crisps at all. The advertised “chipolata sausage” was far from it, could pass it off on the menu as “a cheap tasting sausage”. The stuffing was unbelievably undercooked, in fact, if you’re willing to be on the toilet for ten hours, that’s where you’d be heading after eating that!! Can I add, the bartender(who greeted us) served himself up a plate and on our way out to pay had even made the same remark when he politely asked how our dinner was, if the staff acknowledges it, that says it all! One very disappointing experience and a heap of wasted petrol to this location!
