Lovely food, a nice bistro in Pontypridd. Staff are friendly and service is always very good. Chips are always nice and thick And crunchy. The lunch time menu is a thing of art.

Alfred’s was fairly quiet on the Tuesday evening. The place was clean and tidy. The food was the star of the show, delicious and fresh. One of the nicest bits of fish I’ve had in a while. Although, we thought service was a bit of a let down. Nothing wrong with how friendly and helpful the staff was. More about attention to customers, such as we weren’t asked how the food was, the coffee took ages and waited a while with no server in sight to ask for the bill. Had to go in search of one to pay. You’d expect slightly better, especially when it’s a pretty quiet Tuesday evening. Overall I’ll definitely be going back again, just wish there would be a little more attention to customers (hence the removal of 1 star).

Went in randomly chill bar downstairs, did not expect the vibe upstairs at all! Bustling atmosphere, amazing fresh food counter on display, really lovely done. Great tasting food! My beef was a bit fatty and couldn't swallow some of it, otherwise a 5star. Lovely cocktails too

Fantastic value and quality Sunday lunch. Have been many times never had a bad meal. X3 courses for £17 odd. Cracking prawn cocktail starter. Highly recommend…booked up ready for Xmas day 👍

Had the Lemon 🍋 Sole and couldn't resist getting the rest of the sauce off the plate with my fingers....sorry ..but it was THAT GOOD. Hubby had fish and chips. Sorry the foto doesn't do it justice-we had started eating already

Food was amazing but service was dreadful . Waited for 30 minutes and had to find someone for a drinks menu. The guy which appeared to be a manager had such a bad attitude and seemed like everything was too much trouble. He was too busy flirting with the waitress. We had to keep getting up off our table to look for someone to order a drink/desert. It was very quiet in there and staff just stood around including manger laughing and joking.Lack of attention and care. Such a shame as the food was amazing! Apart from the crème brûlée was like scrambled egg!

My wife and I visited Pontypridd today for the first time, and we found this gem in the Town Centre. As soon as we entered the atmosphere was superb. We decided to order the lunch 2 course meal, which was outstanding. The bar and waiting staff were professional, polite and efficient. The premises was spotless and service was fast. If you visit Pontypridd, visit it for a meal, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommended.

We Had a delicious pie here a few days ago & would definitely recommend, the atmosphere was lovely too, the only things I’d mention to improve is the service was a bit slow, I could only see 2 members of staff running upstairs including a supervisor or manager which isn’t enough in all fairness to them. I also asked for a bit more gravy and was told it was in the pie which to be honest made me laugh because of the dryness of the answer, genuinely an answer I would have given back in my waiter days but on this occasion I did need a little extra for my chips by the end of the meal but no drama. Would certainly recommend this place and will be returning

The food was outstanding as usual and all the staff were amazing. Janet really went above and beyond to make us welcome and we had a perfect anniversary night. Thank you we will be back.x

Past Carer's meal was on Wednesday 6th December, meal booked for 12.30, 1st course was served at 13.10 = 40 min wait. Waited 40 mins for the main and a further 15 mins for the chips. Which by the came my main was cold and uh

Food was good. There was some confusion with one of our orders and one of our party had to wait a bit longer, they were then brought the wrong side without explanation, this was rectified fairly quickly and the staff member in question was very apologetic. Staff member was really pleasant and we definitely would return.

I went to a family birthday meal, and although the place was lovely, the Sunday roast was not for me. We all had the roast, but there wasn't enough veg or gravy brought out, causing some to wait on more veg and gravy and making our food cold. The staff were very friendly though but mainly the 3 star was for food, not the service. Hopefully you will get it right for others.

Enjoyed a love turkey Sunday lunch here. The food came out on lovely jot plates. Plenty and very nice. There were 11 of us and all the food came out at the same time. They catered for gluten free. The sticky toffee pudding I would recommend. Friendly staff and good service. It was our first time and traveled to get there but high recommend.

Chicken florentina stuffed with ricotta and spinach with butter sauce, service was excellent, very quick and accomodating waiters/waitresses, good atmosphere decent service can't fault it

The food was piping hot and very tasty. Staff were polite and helpful whilst all being run off their feet.

Lovely food all cooked lovely and tasted nice, service was a little slow on the drinks but it was very busy so it could have been down to not enough staff. Have visited on a number of occasions and always enjoy. Will definitely be visiting soon. Highly recommend

Friendly staff and attentative without being annoying. Portion size very generous to the point of being too big! Quality of food was great. Only let down was asking for the bill and waiting 15 minutes.

Had a fantastic 3 course meal in the week. Service was prompt, staff helpful and polite and the food was unbelievable! Have been a few times now and must say it’s a really nice place to go. We’ll definitely go back

Honestly for food I believe this might be one of the greatest you can find in Pontypridd. From the waiters which one of which came down twice to get us from the smoking area to tell us that our food is ready to be served so it was still warm for us. The menu is extensive and there is plenty of choice with all the meats and fish being really fresh as they have a meat counter as you walk up the stairs/ elevator to the restaurant area. Overall I loved it

Sunday lunch 4.10.22, very good food and pleasant service. Some stuffing with the turkey would have been nice. And, I know it's probably unavoidable, but it was very noisy.

Large family birthday celebrations. There is a lift, when it works, or two flights of stairs to the restaurant, so one of our 80-year olds had to use the stairs. The menu looked like it was printed as an afterthought - just a pice of paper, not very professional. Couldn't fault the meal, always good to good satisfaction. Prices on the high side, but you pay for what you get. Excellent service, staff very patient in taking orders. Tables and chairs seemed a bit of a mishmash. All-in-all quite a good evening.

Booked this restaurant for 37 people to celebrate an anniversary milestone. The environment was welcoming, the service was top class and the food...OUTSTANDING! A great selection, fresh and cooked to perfection. Out of 37 people, not 1complaintDefinitely recommend

Alfred's bar was really amazing the staff were lovely and the food was stunning. A bit of a trek to the restaurant area which was up quite a few steps but they do have a lift. There's quite a walk to the lift too as it's right in the back, however you can park at the back and then you'd be right by the lift or the stairs but we didn't know that. But once inside FANTASTIC" food and we will definitely going back soon.
