    The manager was doing nothing but sitting on her hinney yelling unprofessionally at everyone. There was no ice. There was no sweet tea, the unsweet tea was very old and nasty. The entire restruant was uncleaned and nasty, and it was not busy at that time, only a few of us attempting to get a bite to eat. The food was nasty, like old tasting and they didn't drain the grease off the burger patties and the fries were hard as a rock and did I mention old, as in nothing was hot or fresh. Again it's not like it was a big dinner rush at the time or anything. To top it off me and my son got really sick within an hour after eating there, so I'm pretty sure got food poisoning. This used to be my favorite place years ago so I talked my husband into trying it. Big Mistake! Never Again Y'all, Never Again! :(

    Ordered a burger and a sandwich, with 2 drinks and an extra fry. Had to repeat myself at least 3 more times at the drive-thru window, Didn't get the extra fries, and both the sandwich and the Burger were messed up, and and they put something I'm allergic to on it after I specifically asked them not to, didn't get the receipt. Emailed corporate and asked to have someone message me back. Here it is a week later and I haven't heard a thing.

    This was an absolutely terrible experience. The service was non-existent, with staff acting like it was an inconvenience to take our orders and then ignoring me when I went back up to ask for the vegetables that were supposed to come on my burger (which was cold and crunchy). The cashier gave me a bowl of wilted veggies (see photo) and I also had to ask again for a tomato, which is supposed to come with the burger. Disgusting food, and they said they don't carry Steak & Shake seasoning.... at Steak & Shake. I get having an off night sometimes but this was pathetic. The bathroom reeked like a place that never gets cleaned. Don't waste your time or money at the Poplar Bluff location!!

    We weren't allowed to sit down and get menus. We had to stand by the door looking over one small cut-out of the menu before ordering and only then we're we allowed to see ourselves to a table. More than half the tables were splattered in sauce so our options were very limited. The order came out incorrect, but was fixed so no worries. However, the lids put out for the customers were covered in some mystery soda to the point where they were all tinted brown and were sticky to the touch. Halfway through our meal, a waitress tried to take away our plates and suggest that we should be done. We politely declined and continued our meal. After they noticed us cleaning up after ourselves, they sent the waitress back and she suggested that she escort us to the door. We politely declined again and finished cleaning our mess. (Side note: it was nowhere near closing time, we weren't being rowdy, and it is the type of restaurant where you are supposed to clean up after yourself. So I don't really know what warranted such a strange attitude towards us.) Maybe they were having a bad day or something that had nothing to do with us happened? I don't know. I hold no grudges or ill intentions, it was just not an environment where I could enjoy my food.

    It's a franchise that went the wrong way after the pandemic. My fiancé likes the garlic burger. I believe it's one of the original burgers that they had before their massive change. If you want classic burgers it'll check that box on your list. Don't expect 5 star service though. This is just another food chain.

    I ordered the number five the garlic double steak burger It came with cheese and when I told them that my order was wrong I was told that everything comes with cheese and I should have specified that I did not want cheese on it. Meanwhile the name of it is the garlic double steak burger not the garlic double steak burger with cheese. I cannot eat cheese on hamburgers it makes me extremely obnoxiously sick to my stomach! I was told basically that's the corporate menu and I need to get a hold of them and complain to them. The manager Ashley was extremely rude and could have cared less. I paid for a meal I couldn't even eat and they did absolutely nothing to make it right. Very rude, horrible customer service! They didn't give a flying flip about whether or not I could eat my food that I paid for! They just kept saying everything comes with cheese and I should have specified I didn't want cheese on it even though the name of it was a steak burger or not a steak burger with cheese. EXTREMELY RUDE TO SAY THE LEAST PAID $9 FOR A HAMBURGER I COULDN'T EAT. When traveling on limited funds this is NOT how you want to spend one of your few meal stops!!!!!

    We went there for lunch and we're in the drive thru. We were ordering but it was extremely hard to understand the polite lady taking our order due to the background of a bunch of people talking. She was a trainee. She took my order and when we tried to talk saying we needed another order they didn't hear us but added it just part of the second order and cut us off before being able to finish our order. We pulled around and started to explain the issue we had and we were accused of yelling we were done and yelling at the lady. The last at the window got frustrated and stormed away yelling someone take care of this! We tried to explain that we didn't but we could tell they weren't really listening to what we were explaining. We ordered a meal and didn't get the meal, just the chicken. (We weren't charged for a meal either) When the manager came to deliver our food we tried to explain it to her and explain everything again she stated everyone heard us yelling at the lady and saying we were finished. I don't believe anyone really wanted to believe it or listen to the looks we were receiving. I haven't been back for about 4 months now because the last time I ate there customer service sucked and this time it was even worse!

    I went in today and made a order then I talk to another customer, He recommended the chili so I went back and ordered that. I got my chili and ate it then I kept waiting around and waiting around for my other order, Which I never got so went back to get a refund, And the manager acted like he was going to give me a refund then he got called to the side by somebody else, Then he came back with a bag of food and asked me would this work he hurried up and made my order for me. So I started to leave and Got to my truck and I thought I should check my order. When I check my order it wasn't even right and I Gave my ticket back to the manager and it had my order on it And the manager still could not get my order right and he still did not want to give my money back. So I told him to keep it and I would never be back.

    Poplar Bluff's restaurant is awful!!! If this is the new Steak 'n Shake everywhere they should just close and forget it! We got tiny pieces of fries. Our orders were both wrong! The burgers were so thin they could be seen through, were tough and were very greasy! I was given a fork and knife so flimsy they couldn't cut through my lettuce, onion, tomato, or pickle. They were bending!! The restaurant used to be friendly, good service, nice atmosphere. Now, we might as well be at some cheap joint. Order numbers are yelled out instead of quietly brought to you. BLEH!!! We will NEVER come back if they stay like this!

    It was clean, but sparse in the extras. No napkins, straws or silverware on tables or condiments. The menu was so limited compared to pre Covid. Burger n fries were fine.

    This place has slow service. My dine-in order was insanely wrong and, when corrected, was assembled very sloppy. My my food came out plain when the shear size of the ticket should have rang a bell. It took 30+ minutes from payment before my food was correct and ready to eat. 2 burgers and cheese fries. My toppings were just sorta thrown in the general area of the sandwich.

    Did not care for the lack of service. I wanted real plates and a waitress. This new kiosk ordering may be cheaper but it destroys the nostalgic atmosphere that steak and shake depends on. Basically I got out of the car to walk into a drive thru. Probably won’t be coming back.

    Got chili 5 way for lunch at the drive thru today. It was drowned in grease. Very disappointing. When I asked the employee at the window for my other 2 drinks she rudely told me to pull forward and check my ticket to see if I even ordered them because there were people behind me who's food was getting cold. I'm attaching a pic of my food...if the 2 cars behind me got a similar lunch hot or cold wouldn't have mattered.

    Everything is automated so you order and pay for your food on a touch screen. No in person service. Clean your own table anything else you want. Food was good, but took a while to get.For me it is not the same that we enjoy eating at S & S at home. If they do this there, I'm out.

    I have never seen a level of Incompetency in a resturant. The kitchen floor was gross it took. 25 minutes to get our burgers, then they forgot to make our shakes and the manager was completely incapable of understanding basic service requests. She was extremely rude when we were trying to get the shakes we payed for and seemed to be accusing us of already getting them. Terrible experience.

    Very busy. Food was very good but the shake machine was broken. Took over 20 mins for them to figure it out (we were already done eating by that time) and they had over 7 shakes to make for waiting customers. Not one of the three managers working came out to let anyone know of the issue. When the customers began to inquire about the lack of shakes, and asked for a refund, all three managers indicated they could not give us a refund. They said corporate made that decision and there was nothing they could do about it. WHAT?? After asking more, they finally gave us a gift card for the refund but only after prompting them. We were from out of town so would obviously not be back at their store. Crazy.

    They should not have opened back up for breakfast if this is what they were going to serve. The gravy was gross, bacon, sausage, and eggs all tasted off. I got a Royale Steak burger that was good and the pancakes was fine. So 1 meal out of 4 was good and the others disgusting.

    Our Steak ‘n Shake understands their limitations. They can’t find enough people who want to work so they have adapted. A sign sends you to the register to place your order and we had the nicest crew person. She was concerned that she was too slow and apologized because she was new. We assured her it was all good. She made menu recommendations and was careful to read back our order. We used a gift card and she had to ask for help once. Our food was ready before we’d even sat at a table. We picked up our tray and went for ketchup. The new pump wasn’t working very easily so my husband asked for packets. Instead, she went over & pumped him 2 cups of ketchup herself! They have also added a serve-yourself drink dispenser! Great choices. Besides working the register efficiently she also kept the dining area neat and sanitized. Business picked up not long after we got our food and everything was still run efficiently. The food was great, as always. Tasty, hot and fixed the way we like them!

    They no longer make their chili there, it doesn't have any flavor tastes watery. You stand at the register place your order go sit and wait on your number to be called and then go up and get your own food and drink.

    $4 burger & fries!! Need I say more? Probably not but OMG they are SO good!! Low on money? The burger is splittable even! Thank you steak & shake for NOT taking advantage of the price hikes everywhere! I will be back for another #7 :) and I hope you make enough to build another Steak n Shake. Maybe in Doniphan ☀️❣️

    Bald guy needs to learn how to deal with ppl, very rude. Ran us off real quick. Won't be back. Very limited menu. Found unknown item in milkshake guy said it's my fault he put some what looked like plastic in it. Very disappointing. Hope you have good lawyers.

    We use to dine here at least once a week. My niece and I went today and to say its changed is an understatement. The food was good but some of the workers were kinda rude and not very helpful. We'll go back again because we all have off days but if it's the same next time I doubt we go back.

    This location no longer has servers. It is a self serve drink and condiments station, similar to other popular fast food chains. The menu is limited but the food quality is still the same.

    Horrible experience. Went through the drive thru, ordered a double steak burger with chili cheese fries, when I got my burger first off, it was cold. Second, they forgot my lettuce. I didn’t realize either of these things till my friend opened the bag about 2 minutes down the road. I brought the food back, and some bald man had an attitude with me when i told him my food was cold which was my main issue, the customer service. I work in a restaurant and know how easy it is to mess up a few things, but for me to not say anything but ask for it to be fixed, and for him to continue to be rude instead of do HIS JOB and fix it, was outrageous, made an impact on steak and shake.

    Gave a 2 star bc food was fast.....not great ...service lady that seemed like she was on crack, was pushing all customers to go faster to order. bc she was going a million miles a min!!!! My child even snorted bc he just watched a video about ppl on drugs at 1 of his classes. Pretty bad when ur kid notices something like that. We sure won't go back! Had to order food 2 different times bc it wasn't correct & that lady was going a million to nothing that we had to pay double prices just to half way get somewhat what we ordered!(don't mean to be redundant)We ended up giving our friends dog a $24 meal!!! Atleast the dog enjoyed lol Worst steak and shake! Go else where!

    Steak and Shake isnt what it used to be. They fired their wait staff due to covid. You order at the counter like you went to McDonalds. Instead of the old diner/malted shoppe experience, you get something boring and sad. I read recently that Steak and Shake might be closing its doors in 2022. If the Poplar Bluff location is any indication, Steak and Shake has died but not been notified. It was like eating at the corpse of a once good restaurant.

    Heres why the 3. Two of the last 3 times we went when not in dinner hour so business was slow. Burgers and fries both luke warn, buns dry and fell apart easy. Kast time went in dinner hour on Friday evening and it was busy. Food fresh and hot but amount of fries given a little skimpy. They dont check trash often enough and need to get tables cleaned more promptly.

    I took my two daughters to Steak ‘n Shake today. Highly disappointed. I understand there is a staffing shortage but customers should not have to come into a public food establishment and hear ADULTS arguing over who is going to fill the ice machine. Then hearing this employee yelling that she’s going to just drop the ice bucket because she’s mad. I will not be back.

    Stopped in for the $4 menu and a shake. The burger had great flavor and was decent size for fast food. The fries weren’t particularly fresh but the price was right.

👍👍 Fantastic everything ! If you're looking for a great family friendly food place with insanely good food this is a must hit spot. Their lemonade ain't no joke! And I don't even really care for lemonade! I'm asking for gallons of this blueberry lemonade stuff lol!
