Not a fancy place, many older memorabilia for decoration ribs were tender and melt in your mouth delicious. Very enjoyable.

The fried green tomato appetizer was outstanding. The breading was light so the flavor of the tomato shined through. The catfish was cooked perfect and the breading was delicious. The restaurant was clean and so we're the bathrooms We drove 2 hours to eat here and we weren't dissapointed!

Can't say enough good about this place. Some wonderful tasty food can be eaten here.

Just finished most delicious meal!! Catfish and sides fabulous!! Our waitress was Nikki and you could not find a better one anywhere, We were seated immediately and our order and drinks taken care of very quickly!! Food was brought to us hot fresh nicely placed on plate and plenty of it!! Everyone and everything was super nice, Thank you for making meal outstanding!

Food and service were both really good. The pork cutlet on my sandwich was tender, with nice breading. I asked for the sandwich without cheese sauce, and they put it on anyway. I didn't care for the cheese, but the sandwich was still good. They have amazing fries. The baked beans could use some work, but they were tasty just the same. I'll eat here again.

I hate leaving negative reviews. Especially restaurants because it's subjective and they can have a bad night. But I heard there's new owners and that's the only reason I can say things are different. We would come here for their deep fried shrimp. We would tell everyone we knew how good the shrimp was. Simply the best I've ever had. They didn't even need sauce. You could see the spices in their fresh made breading. What we got Sunday November 28th 2022 was most likely a bag of frozen breaded shrimp. No flavor at all and shrimp sauce couldn't save it. If a new owner changes things for the worst than it's just a matter of time before they shut down. If they do it for the shrimp they'll do it for other items as well. The fried catfish wasn't bad. Just the normal thin poplar bluff fried catfish. So sad. No. We won't be going back. Edit: I'm so happy to hear the item was a one time issue. We will definitely be back to try again.

I got the "Holy Cow Burger" and it was fantastic way more than I expected though lol, and as a side I got the Mac & Cheese which is some of the best in town.

Our dinner was absolutely amazing! We ordered fried green tomatoes and fried pickles for apps and the portions were generous and the food was delicious! Our server was also super attentive and friendly!

Excellent food, so glad we stopped. My husband said they were the best ribs he'd ever had. I got the fried pickle burger with mac and cheese and loved them both!

Just moved to the area and tried this for the first time. Husband and I were very impressed. I had the smoked chicken it was juicy and not dry like alot of other places I have been, I had the Macaroni and cheese which is fantastic and their cole slaw "very spicy" but delicious. My husband had their huge burger and I mean this thing was insane, but he said it was so good, he LOVED the bun it came on. We will definitely be back!

Delicious bacon cheeseburger. It was huge. Cajun fries could be better (imo) if they were crispy. Friendly staff, worth going for sure.

For Poplar Bluff, it is much better than a lot of others. Fried green tomatoes were delicious! I had a large pulled pork BBQ that was huge. I actually ate half and took half to go! Love the choices of BBQ sauce on the table. Mikey did not choose well, he had a Fried chicken salad🙄. Believe me there were many more interesting things on the menu. Service with a smile and great iced tea. Definitely will go again.

I'm from St. Louis but my Mom's side of the family lives in Poplar Bluff and we've been to The Fishin' Pig a few times and it's always good with good service. We had our Christmas lunch there today with the family and we had a lot of people in our group and our waitress was top notch! She was there as soon as each of us arrived to get our drinks and all of our food was just as we ordered, no mistakes. I do not remember her name but we had the back room reserved at 11:30 so if you all at The Fishin' Pig read this just know that she did an amazing job and we appreciate the great service! OMG 😲!!!!! This place was one of the best Restaurants I've ever been to!!!!! Pulled pork, fries 🍟, and potato 🥔 salad!!! I couldn't finish it. Lots of food for the little ones.

Server was great, but we waited a good 45 minutes for our food. Ribs were cold and apple sauce was warm, as if left sitting out. Mac n cheese was so bad my daughter wouldn't eat it. Fries were soggy. We took it all with us and didn't eat anything. $80 wasted!

That was the meatiest ribs I've ever had... They were well cooked, tender and delicious. The service was great and everyone seemed happy and content.

This review isn’t criticizing the whole menu, Just specifically what we ordered. We have been here many times before and the food has been great. During this visit, my husband ordered a shrimp po boy. The bread was over grilled, the shrimp was over cooked, and there was not enough spicy sauce on the sandwich. Because the bread was overly grilled, my husband could not close his sandwich and everything fell apart. Po boys need soft bread. Was also given water and it straight up tastes like chemicals. Like it was washed and not washed out good enough.

Driving through to Little Rock decided to stop for lunch. Very clean and the staff is friendly. Lots of locals either coming in to eat or picking up. Food was great, two of our group had fried catfish, one French fries one potato salad, very good choices. Third meal was chicken tenders and fries also very good, good portions.

The music was so loud even my deaf mother could hear and said it had to be really loud from vibration. It was so loud the rest of us couldnt hear anything. It was like going to a concert. The Fish was muddy, potato salad tasted like pure mustard and so I asked for MAYO so I could add it to relieve that taste since nothing ever needs that much mustard, and so to cover up the sweet relish in the tarter sauce. It wasn't mayo, but Miracle Whip. So I asked for a baked potato. Like the rest of the people at our table had, we opened them up to find they were burned and dehydrated. There's also finding the green beans tasted like someone dumped sugar in them. I don't know if we picked the absolute worst day to go and usually willing to give places a 2nd chance but it was so bad I'm very reluctant to go back and waste money again. I can say while it was super busy, our service was really good though. That was it. Very disappointed In the food.

Was traveling through town and this restaurant appealed to me and all the reviews were excellent. So very happy we stopped at this restaurant. Food was delicious and Holly our server was the best! Best food and service we've had in a very long time. We will definitely be back to the Fishing Pig restaurant and hopefully will be lucky enough to have Holly as our server again. The fried catfish was the best we've had in a very long time and the fried green tomatoes was so delicious! It was a wonderful experience and a wonderful evening! Thank you!

Pathetic brisket- 2 small strips of dry grey flavorless meat. Baked potato had an off smell and black soggy skin. Salad was ok. Fried shrimp small and nothing special. All 3 bbq sauces were bland. Worst meal I’ve had in quite a while. Fast food would be better and much cheaper- nearly $50 for 2 people.

Extremely slow, 20 minutes to sit down for 6, then took over an hour to get our food, waitress told us at one point that the food was just about to come out, 30 minutes later we got our food, she even stopped coming around for a while. She was nice when she did come. My food was not hot or fresh by the time I got it. Won't be back any time soon. Also a table of 4 that came in well after us got seated, and then got their food and then finished their food before we even got ours. Poor management. We were there for over 2 hours for lunch...

I had an excellent 3pc Catfish Dinner. The cornmeal batter was light and delicately seasoned. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sides were tasty. Our server, Holly, was very friendly and made certain we had a great experience during for our initial visit. My wife said the Fried Green Tomato Cheeseburger was excellent. We shared the Portobello Mushroom appetizer and thought the red pepper dipping sauce elevated a standard opener to a different level. Very pleased and regretful that such a place didn’t exist in PB when I lived there 23 years ago.

I rarely post reviews unless it is a really good one, but I had to on this one. The atmosphere is nice. It all went down hill after that. It was not busy with only about 8 tables that had people at them and it took almost 10 minutes for them them to get order for drinks (we almost left). It took so long that we ordered our food at the same time once they did come. Our food came pretty quick and I was not impressed at all. The slaw and beans were good along with their pulled pork. However, my baked potato was so cold the butter wouldn’t even melt and the ribs were tough, fatty and little flavor. Not once did a server come over to ask us how things were until the very end when we were ready for the check. I did let the sever about the potato and she said that they would get another and I said no because were already done. Also, their fried shrimp tasted old or frozen. Their service was not friendly and wasn’t inviting. They don’t greet you at the door very nice. Gave them a 2 only because their beans, slaw, bbq sauce and pulled pork were decent. Other than that I would have gave them a 1. This was around 3;00 pm on Saturday 12 February when we were traveling.

I thought I posted a review here but only had posted it on their Facebook page. Not everyone does social media so wanted to come here and leave the same review. We visited Poplar Bluff in April after traveling for about 3 hours we decided to give it a try. Nikki was our waitress, she stepped in when she noticed that we had not been waited on and could not have asked for a better waitress. I initially went in to order BBQ because it is rare that I like ANY restaurants fish. I decided to chance it and order the fish and shrimp (just in case I didn’t like the fish) it came with 3 sides- 🤯 a lot of food! Being a food critic at every single place I go, I have nothing bad to say about any of my food I received here. If it wasn’t so far away, we would definitely stop in often! Definitely will if we are passing through in the future.

It was a lovely Sunday afternoon in October - the kind of day that makes you want to take yer pig fishing. We had traveled across several states in the morning and were looking for the best lunch in Poplar Bluff. Fishin' Pig had high reviews - best in class. We were pretty disappointed. The brisket was dry and more like a roast than brisket. Smoked chicken was also dry.

Visiting town we got delivery. Saturday-only brisket was not very good. Small portion, dry, under smoked and under seasoned. Needed sauce but there wasn’t any. Sides were OK but came in tiny condiment size containers. Maybe four spoonfuls of Mac n cheese. Best thing we had was the Cajun fries. Tab was 50 bucks for two after all the delivery fees ware added on. Probably should have done Arby’s.

County restaurant with good barbecue and catfish. Great staff, prompt service, and good prices.

Best brisket and fish around

With a name like "Fishin' Pig" how could I go wrong! Walked in, got a good vibe seeing a lot of locals, and it had that good country diner decor. I knew it was going to be great! Got the salad right away, loved it! I had no sooner finished it than the waitress came by, offered to take the bowl, and within the minute had my meal; catfish and pulled pork. Umm... I don't know if it was a baby catfish or a goldfish, but I've seen bigger french fries. It was a pretty good serving of pulled pork, but the flavor was nothing special. The sides were ok as well, just nothing to rave about. But, I had to get a take-home box, walked out full, the price was reasonable, and the service was really great! If any management reads this, please give those girls a raise, and find a supplier to get you some real catfish! Overall, glad I stopped in!!

Amazing food. They have seasoned everything perfectly. They can get crowded at times, and do not seem to have any protections in place for COVID, so be aware if you are going during busy times.

The food here is quite good. Catfish and barbecue, plenty of sides to choose from. Delicious sweet tea. Tristan was a fantastic and friendly server. I like the catfish myself, it is of a great quality.

The best food I've ever eaten anywhere

Food wasn't as good as usual and it took 45 minutes to get our fish plates. A lot of employees running around getting ready to close. I think they close at 3:00 on Sundays. We got there about 1:30 this afternoon and they definitely were not crowded. Usually very good!

I have worked in restaurants for 15 years and this was the last one I worked in and it is by far the cleanest. Full disclosure I do not work there anymore. I worked for these amazing people for 3 years and it was an awesome experience. The pride that is taken in the cleanliness of the kitchen from the coolers to the counter tops to the corners of the floor. The owners expectations are high and reflected in the experience you get as a diner. I can't tell you how much respect I have for the owners and what they have built. Best home cooking around. Mrs. G (best cook ever, running really close to my Grandma) pours her heart into everything she makes my favorite is the Mac and cheese. Mrs. Debbie's desserts makes you want to eat it first they are good. And then we have Mr. Andy's bbq, smoked to perfection and the only fried catfish I can eat from a restaurant. Again I have worked restaurants most of my life and they care and it shows. Mad love and respect to the whole team. Jeremy and Carrie make sure you have a nice beer selection and keep them ice cold and keeps everything running smooth as a top. Great Job! Thank for letting me be apart of it.

The service is outstanding and the food is great old school southern style cooking. When you are in the Poplar Bluff area it's a must stop.

We were there for a private party and the whole event was great! They served pulled pork, brisket, green beans, mac n cheese, scalloped potatoes and rolls. All of them were great as was the sweet tea! The staff was friendly and on top of their service game! Definitely going back to check out their menu items soon.
