Yo! This is exactly what the city of Porirua needs. Proper good coffee and the baked goods is legit. The banana muffins are so damn good. We travel from Tawa for this place. Looking forward to seeing LA expand x

A little coffee shop tucked away, Local Authority lives up to its name. From friendly staff, to vibrant coffee, and delicious food, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new spot to check out.

I had a morning appointment in Porirua, so I decided to spend some time working from a cafe and selected Local Authority based on the reviews. It was a pleasant morning, which made the outdoor tables a perfect spot to hang out for a short while. There were a few other people on laptops, so I felt like I was making the right choice. The coffee and scone both came out quickly. I find Flight coffee to be generally quite forward in profile, but I think this was pulled a bit milder. It was pleasant, but not as interesting as I would have expected. The scone is a serious contender, though. Give it a proper toasting instead of a microwave warming and this could be great.

Great spot, lovely staff and the coffee is great. Absolutely LOVE the cheese and jalapeño scones (toasted, with butter of course). Best cafe in town.

I ordered 2 takeaway filtered coffees. They were both cold, but I didn’t realize it until I got to the car. Very disappointing. It’s apparent that they don’t care about their product.

Got my coffee wrong. Didn't realise until I got up to the office. Regular milk really upsets me and I am too awkward to take it back to get what I asked for. It might be conveniently at the bottom of my work office but I *hate* getting wrong orders and it puts me right off and completely negates the location convenience.

Easily the best place to get coffee in Porirua, right up their with the best in the Wellington region. The flat white is always on point and they have excellent filter coffee. Food is nice and fresh and at pretty cheap prices. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. Great coffee bar.

Dope little spot! Vegan cacao smoothie that’s thick and delicious. I also had their avo with dukkah and pickled onion, yum! Their flight coffee with almond and banana toast will be my next visit for sure. Shot team :)

Come for the coffee - come back for the coffee. Love it. Flat white was perfect, excellent extraction and flavour profile, clearly made by someone who knows what they are doing and loves doing it. Not to be missed.
