Do yourself a favour and steer clear. If Dave or Tash are present just play somewhere else. I have been coming to the Sheraton mirage for 30 years and I have never been treated the way I was today. Tash had spoken to Dave about us and was surprised we expected the rate we were promised as mirage villa owners. Tash responded to me when I quesrioned how much she was charging me “well I’m not a mind reader” this to people who were buying a box of balls, gloves and rounds for three people. Dave when booking was as miserable as humanly possible. Tash, she should just give it up. Maybe working at McDonald’s would be better. That way her lack of communication skills and customer service skills can be muffled by the static of an intercom. I honestly would rather contracting herpes than deal with Tash again. Do yourself a favour and go to paradise palms. Or any other golf course. Bruce however, helped us with our carts and clubs and was as delightful as he has even been. As a very small boy I used to chat to him and I haven’t seen him for years yet he remembered me. Tash and Dave should really consider a career change.

My partner and I had a 9 hole golf lesson today with Rob, it was my first ever game of golf and Glenn being a club golfer. We have both walked away feeling great and have learnt a lot. Thank you Rob you have encouraged me to keep going. Lorraine & Glenn 🏌‍♀️⛳️

Booked what I hoped to be a memorable round of golf 3 weeks ago… after spending 4 gorgeous days at the Sheraton port Douglas I thought I pop in and pick up a keepsake polo/cap/balls/towel however was fronted with 2 blokes having a beer in the pro shop and was barked by one of the blokes saying the till has been balanced (5:50pm). I introduced myself and confirmed tee off the following day - however it felt like I interrupted the “beeries” - the pro shop closes at 6:30. Turned up the next day all keen (wife and kids in the day spa) the day was perfect good boy to be told that my package discussed over the phone was not valid… nevertheless I just wanted to play golf. The bloke (Dave) then told me I couldn’t play because I didn’t have a collared shirt (which I had loads of in the hotel room) however I noticed a similar piece / style of clothing was available for sale with the country club logo… I questioned as why they would sell a similar item if you could not wear on the course (it’s a pro shop!!) I also mentioned that tiger woods/ Nike released golf shirts that were round neck and buttoned down… anyway the guy resisted so much it took the wind out of my sails and ruined a perfectly planned day… as I pulled out I saw 2 blokes playing one of which was wearing a billabong singlet…. Thanks Dave!!!!!!

Very tired looking resort…staff seem disinterested and unhelpful… Hours of operation at the golf pro shop and bar are listed to close at 6pm and yet we got to the bar at the end of our round at 5:10pm late August (sunset is at 6pm) and the lady wouldn’t serve us a hard earned beer that we were so looking forward to as she was shutting up shop for the day and counting the till. Very very disappointing and poor form for a holiday resort. This place is an absolute shadow of it’s former self and don’t even get me started on the greens….terrible , just terrible. Played the next day at Cairns golf club…what a pleasant surprise…much better greens and golf carts …. Couch fairways and at half the price !!

The golfcourse is situated in a nice resort. Tip of advise; there was no food during the change off the front and the back tees. On the 18e hole we were supprised by a little croc ( 1 mtr ) Fairways and greens rate 8 Service 9 We had a nice day !!

While the course is getting better and staff are friendly cold meat pies and over frothy beer are just not up to the old Mirage standard.

Course was very average, the excuse that its because of the rain was a poor one when seeing the greens and bunkers. We were told to take our time and enjoy then after the first 9 holes Course Marshall told us ro hurry up..we needed to be under 2hrs for 9 holes...sorry, didn't know only professionals were supposed to play..we took 2hrs 20 minutes. Then to be told I can hit as they are out of range (as I'm a girl) was insulting. The group in front had not had their second shot and I can hit over 250 when I get on to it. Needless to say I duffed 3 in a row. Probably don't put groups of 2 in front and behind a group of 4. Will NEVER be back.

The only place to play in Port Douglas, brilliant course designed for players not professionals. Good scores very achievable and really well looked after...a credit to the guys who run the maintenance routine...well done all round....see you all next round

My husband and sons experience at this golf course was disappointing due to a specific staff memeber, named Harry, that works at this club. A group of fathers and their sons were treated with atrocious service from the get go even before gettibg on the course. Simply requesting for left hand clubs was enough to set this staff memeber off and his service was rude, arrogant and unpleasant. We do not recommend this place to anyone unless you want to be treated with absolute disrespect.

Unusual to see positive remarks regarding the staff. The lady on the counter has poor customer focus and the fellow distributing the buggies was the most rude and arrogant person I have ever encountered in a service field. Otherwise very nice course once passing the initial encounter.

Amazing course which is beautiful and testing but also very playable for golfers of all standards with generally wide fairways and in beautiful condition. Greens are large and had been sanded on the day we played so were slow but should quicken in the next couple of weeks. Staff were very friendly and the facilities are great. All carts here which is good as there are some long distances between holes. Deals for AGU members on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday are great value at $65 with cart

Staff at the pro shop were very friendly and a great assest to the golf course. However, Course was average and I was a little disappointed with it. For a course at this price point I did expect a bit more. The greens were average, fairways were good and the tees are all uneven. The hire clubs we were given were very old (not the new Titleist clubs advertised on their Facebook page) the driver also had a cracked shaft so I had borrow one from another player in my group. I would compare the course to ones I play back at home which only cost $60-$70 a round with a cart. I will not be rushing back to play here.

Please listen to the other reviews and choose somewhere else to play. I got charged full rates only for them to tell me I would be playing the front 9 twice and only the forward tees were open. Course was in rough shape. Greens obviously hadn’t been mowed in weeks and were bumpy and full of holes. Tee blocks were more dirt then grass. The “signature” holes with great views of the beach the staff bragged about had so much overgrown brush in between the hole and the beach that you couldn’t see the ocean except for one spot on the tee. The floating range was cool but the balls look like they were bought 20 years ago and didn’t have a dimple on them. Do yourself a favor and play somewhere else. What they charge for the quality of the course is insane.

This is a very well maintained golf course. I love the floating range! I enjoyed my walk while my partner is playing. If you live in Sheraton, clubs hiring is for free as well. Recommend to play early as it gets really hot after 9am. It is also a course where you may see cros residents. I wish we saw some crocs but apparently they are pretty shy in summer.

Nice golf course, we'll maintained, but staff were awful. We were repeatdly spoken down to by two of the guys in reception, we were tempted to walk out. Thankfully the golf course itself redeemed our afternoon, but staff are difficult.

Cool layout with the back 9 and front 9 being quite different aesthetically. (front 9 closer to beach amongst the Sheraton resort). Fairways in good nic, but the whole experience is really let down by the greens, really poorly maintened and need alot of work. Its worth a look but obviously as a few have said, lower the expectations for the putting surfaces.

  • 1/5 John S. 1 year ago on Google
Course condition has deteriorated, greens were long and fluffy. Has the ability to be a good course with proper maintenance. Not worth the green fee play elsewhere

Course was ok, nothing special. For the amount they expect you to pay I was expecting a lot more, mediocre course at best. The real issue is the tool working in the pro shop, talked down to both the people booked in before me and myself. Once we had finished our 9 holes we decided we’d like to play another 9, walked in to pay for it when told the last T time for 9 was 15 minutes earlier. It was 4pm the course is supposed to be open until 6pm. After explaining we’d be back at the club house at 5:30 even if we didn’t play out the full 9, he proceeded to swing what little authority he has and still denied us. Purely because of his attitude I will not be returning, the bloke thinks he’s running St Andrew’s. A club running like this needs a hard reality check on the quality they are delivering. 1 star is too generous for its customer service. I had played this course once before and the service was equally as poor.

Absolute worst experience. We decided to have a golf day, paid big dollars and we’re treated terribly. The old grump man at the front office was absolutely rude. We greeted with a ‘Hi. How are you?’ We were actually so excited for the day and he literally huffed and didn’t answer. It changed the whole mood and excitement. He barked a few rules at us and got annoyed if we asked a question or needed clarification. He then decided to follow us to EVERY HOLE and would hover over us with his arms folded like a security guard and watched us. What a horrible experience. We felt so uncomfortable we just quickly finished so we could leave. My son was feeling hot so he sat in the golf cart (in the drivers seat but had no intention to drive, he’s 10) and this man came running like a madman telling and yelling at us that he can’t drive it. We were baffled. I can see a lot of complaints about this man and I certainly hope you do something about this. Really put a shadow over the day.

Played Mirage at Sheraton and Palmer ...if you are in Port Douglas here are my thoughts.... both courses charge too much for the layout condition and hiring of clubs. Mirage is a better looking course and offers more diversity in terms of difficulty and enjoyment... it’s also a lot greener and better kept .... the greens at Palmer are slightly better but Mirage are renovating all of theirs... once that is done it’s game over. I would not even turn up at Palmer ... let’s face it Clive Palmer is not interested in golf... he collects real estate ... none of the courses he owns have the required money invested to make them worth the cost to play. The hire clubs at Palmer are useless regular shafted old shovels ... Mirage are better. Over all I enjoyed Mirage far more and if you are keen to play whilst visiting then this would be my suggestion...

(Translated by Google) There are only golf courses that come with the Sheraton resort and the maintenance is in good condition. The staff is also friendly and very kind. The sand of the bunker was soft like a very fine ash-like feel without much tightening in the rain. A play fee for the visitors, a cart, a rental club, 3 balls and a pack of water is $ 140. There is no complaint if the charge is cheaper. Not ideal, course under repair, multiple holes have been split up while the 18th and a few other holes are getting repaired. When I rang up to book I wasn’t told the course was under repair and then paid full price. Staff were friendly but a poor effort not to be told. Would avoid until course is back up and running.

The course was putrid, it was a mudpit and the greenskeeper just keeps watering the course daily. Literally, half the back nine was unplayable. Paying $95 for a round here was extortion for the course condition.
