Visited
RafJam
late
November
as
an
impromptu
destination
for
a
Blue
Mountain
camping
trip
which
had
been
hindered
by
heavy
rains
and
road
blockages.
The
owner
was
very
accomodating
in
allowing
the
grounds
to
be
used
for
camping
with
full
access
to
the
property's
facilities
as
required.
The
property
is
located
in
a
little
known
area
of
Irish
Town
which
bears
a
sense
of
remoteness
even
though
just
35
minutes
from
the
city.
One
of
the
major
attractions
of
Raf
Jam
is
a
river
which
runs
the
length
of
the
property
dividing
the
main
building
from
the
garden
and
trails
areas.
The
garden
areas
are
semi
secluded
from
the
lodgings
and
further
seperated
by
a
sound
barrier
from
the
constant
rushing
water.
Access
requires
skipping
across
small
river
boulders
to
get
to
the
other
side.
There
is
no
other
way.
The
landform
itself
gently
decends
along
the
far
side
of
the
river
course
featuring
several
natural
clearings
of
various
heights
and
sizes
offering
ideal
camping
spots.
Smaller
tents
can
be
setup
on
any
of
these
flat
spots
depending
on
the
space
required,
while
the
main
garden
area
can
easily
accomodate
a
cluster
of
larger
tents.
The
one
caviat
to
anyone
camping
at
Raf
jam
is
that
unloading/reloading
your
equipment
will
require
several
treks
across
the
property
between
the
entrance/parking
area
and
the
camp
site.
Each
trip
will
require
traversing
the
grounds
and
a
river
crossing
each
way
with
individual
pieces
of
gear
in
hand.
With
that
said,
once
set
up,
the
calm
cool
tranquility
of
the
hills,
birds
and
animals
makes
for
an
idyllic
escape
into
nature
and
a
first
class
tropical
camping
experience.
I
fully
encourage
anyone
interested
in
camping
in
a
secure,
private,
well
manitained,
natural
setting
to
consider
Raf
Jam.
Thank
you
Susan
for
your
warm
hospitality
and
welcoming
personality.
