I like this shopping centre but the economy is bringing down the local shops. I'd love to see more businesses in there but I think the cost of starting up is killing the opportunities. Its a shame because even in spite of this I regularly go down there to try and get what I need. It's nice and clean, people are friendly and parking is cheap. The 3 star would be 5 star if it weren't for the economy killing it, as I said just now. The library is there too... thats a nice feature.

I travelled from Bridgend to visit Port Talbot on a cold day in January. I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of shops all under one roof. There were a few empty shops as in all towns but the atmosphere and friendliness of shop keepers, etc is very nice. There’s a Costa cafe in centre of the building where you can relax with your favourite drink. The main street in the town is also worth a visit and is close to the bus and train stations.

Lots of shops undercover for all your general needs and gifts. Mostly good value and low-cost chain shops. No designer or high-end outlets. Some nice small independent retailers for gifts, food, clothing and luggage. Easy to access flat level shopping centre and entrances, ideal for disabled people and families. Coffee shops and eateries for breakfast and lunch.

Plenty of parking, shopping made easy and plenty of places to go for lunch. Do have events on at certain times. Many different stores available. My only issue is that there could be more men's clothing stores. Little stalls in the middle of the mall. Disability access easy as everything is flat. If wanting to go upstairs there is a lift available. Toilets on ground floor and one upstairs but that one has 2 toilets and is small. Disability toilets available and changing rooms for babies. Worth visiting .

Actually better than expected, didn't explore all stores, but 1st impressions were good. I would say Port Talbot or Aberafan much better than Bridgend, the latter looks like an above ground cemetery with zombies ambling about! Come on Wales regenerate!

My local shopping center for the town, nothing much has changed in about 30 years in my own memory. No special shops, very little clothing for men or boys. Only ever go here for greggs, meet friends in 1 or 2 small family run cafes, Wilko and maybe womens clothing for family the girls in my family. Now it's losing another large store Wilko even less people will be heading into town.

Not a great selection of shops. B+M, home bargins, new look, to name a few. You can get your essentials. Do like stopping at Hideout cafe upstairs for a breakfast and coffee.

It's one of the few shopping centres with 100% occupancy rate...very occasionally you'll see an empty unit but not for long, chain stores but also plenty of stores owned and run by local people....very clean too. Nice place. Nice places to eat and drink coffee too.

Clean light places to sit down parking and bus station all at 2 ends of the centre so if raining you want get wet and easy access to the town from the other entrance

The place was ok, good selection of shops but felt like i should have worn a diradora shell suit, expecting to bump into Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced boo-kay). Seems like some where popular in the 80s but only the oldies remember that its still there now.

Car parking is a problem. If you dont have cash, even though they take cards when the machines are working, you could be in trouble. The car park is Council run. Staff said it's a constant problem card machines not working...

The Aberafan Shopping Centre is becoming quite a sad place to visit, with more Charity Shops opening up each time I go there. Although there are the usual shops there and a few good Cafés, the 'personality' has sadly gone.

Reminiscent of the Soviet Union little to no natural light and a funny greasy smell the locals must be used to by now. Populated with card shops and those annoying charity people you usually get to avoid in other centres this one is the pitts. I won’t be returning again, Comrade

Try and find out opening times on say today -boxing day. Just states opening hours might vary prompt. How much use is that? Now you wonder why the decline of shops in the UK?Archaic fossils incapable of refilling a toilet roll holder always wobbling on about thinking outside the box. Good luck!

Called to Aberafan today, what a depressing centre, 90% of the lighting not working in main square not very inviting unable to see even to get a cup of coffee at 4.30 Entrance way from car park very dirty. It should be bright and jolly with Christmas just around the corner.Centre in need of some serious upgrading works. Neath & Port Talbot council need the get their act together here. Wont be going back there for a very long time.

A lovely shopping center that caters for most customers. Contains some of your favourite shops including: B&M, home bargains. Poundland, Argos, Boots, Super drug, the card factory, a couple of charity shops, Greggs, a couple of cafes, a library and toilet facilities.

  • 2/5 Matthew G. 10 months ago on Google
Very quiet. Lots of empty to lots and closed shops. No-one seemed like they wanted to be here. Was clean but not much selection.

Good place to visit if it's raining as it's joined to the multi storey car park next door.

Horrible experience for an autistic person. No natural light once you're inside, just nasty bright lights coming from every direction. Plus the usual awful piped pap which passes as music. Plenty of shops and cafes however if the sensory overload doesn't bother you.

There was a home bargains and b&m here which we liked, but really needs to be more. Same as swansea, just not enough decent shops worth making the effort to go to

  • 2/5 Chevaune “Storm” H. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely shocked how early they close. I was left waiting outside the station for over 5 hours to connect with my coach.

Not a bad little shopping centre... but not a particularly good one either. Has potential though. Firstly....there's not a great deal in Port Talbot, so do not want to overly 'diss' the place. Peoles jobs and livelyhoods depend on this place staying open. Relatively easy to get to and an ok selection of outlets and cafes (you can check out before you go without me running through them). I think one prob is that you pay to park. Prob the skinflint council behind this or some greedy private mob... but if this was ditched...it would undoubtedly increase footfall and get the place moving. Just make it free for a limited time period (e.g., 2 hrs with no return period?...with number recognition to 'police'). Yeees it would cost, but what compared to current system? And so what if it attracted more customers and businesses?). There was plenty of parking and pretty empty when I was there. Keep an eye on the place as hope, whoever is behind it, doesn't screw it up and get it closed through short-term thinking... trying to get blood out of a stone at the expense of dynamism and development.

More needs to be done to make it feel more welcoming, outdated and feels old and more variety of shops would be nice as every other shop seems to be a charity shop.

With the car park undercover and connected undercover to the shopping centre it's ideal for rainy day shopping. Enjoy a host of businesses at the centre from small local independents to the normal high street offerings such as Boots, poundland, Wilkos, B&M, New Look and a lot more. Immediately adjacent with the walk across the river bridge also mostly undercover is a large Tesco store and the rest of the town. There are also many independent coffee shops inside as well as places to eat

Christmas shopping with the kids, we went later in the day after 3pm with plenty of free "Christmas" parking at the bus station. Children enjoyed the shopping it had thr usual stores but no major shops like Debenhams, Primark, M&S, Next or Currys. It only has one major supermarket Tesco but that has its own parking and is just outside the town centre.

Aberafan centre is not to bad but station road is absolutely shamfull...theres a lovely peacocks but it's at the bottom of station road with nothing from there to the middle of station road only selections department store & coffee shop ( neath is becoming far more appealing )

Not been here for while and will not go again for even longer. Mask wearing is mandatory in Wales but not in this centre. Security walking around not asking and checking. Only one shop told people they should be wearing face covings. Dont tell me they have health issues which prevents them. I have seen issues in Bridgend but Port Talbot is far worse. Sort it out before it's too late.

Dire, is too good a description. Only two decent shops the rest is cafes and charity shops. Best offering is San Portalbeau. Classic example of the local authority having no interest in investment in town centres. Avoid at all costs unless you are visiting the shop above.

  • 4/5 David B. 2 years ago on Google
Decent amount of shops although some have closed. Still a decent place to visit, wide open central area. Based right next to the bus station and the centre of town.

😠 The manager and staff are appalling and like playground bully’s they were snarling and talking about me as I left the store, also will not let you return and item for a different size regardless weather you have a receipt if it wasn’t bought with your card, which they are legally bound to let you do...
