Front desk staff was friendly in the morning, fair in the afternoon and getting ‘not bothered’ in the evening. Room interior, shower, elevators and the building itself desperately needed updates. Pool was closed, disappointed. Close to the beach was a good thing. Lobby was cozy, could be easily spending some time there having a drink or chat, however, I didn’t. Dog friendly this hotel was! £10 needed. Two stars were given based on this.

Very outdated and smelly throughout. Loud music till midnight, no chance you can have a good night sleep. Location perfect. Room temperature is just too hot and can't adjust, i am talking when outside temp is 5-6 degrees. Very much in need of major refurbishment. 2 stars for staff and location. Staff very friendly and location is perfect.

Doesn't look anything like shown on the Website. interior could do with refreshing, looks like nothing has happened to it for 30 years. Rooms are okay, but visible signs of wear and damage to the doors and bathrooms, most of the furnishings need to be cleaned as visible makes on curtains and bed runners. The TV was mounted in a strange place and really low on the wall. Staff were okay but not always at reception or visible. Leisure facilities were closed, but could get a pass to the Leisure centre next door.

Unbelievably bad! The place is like a building site and filthy. Unhoovered carpets, ceiling tiles hanging down or missing, dead flies all over window sills, bare wires in the lift, absolutely shocking food and drink plus very expensive lager that was rotten. This place needs shutting down whilst work is ongoing, not working around customers. Massive hole in the front garden covered by an old mattress. Pool closed(thankfully). Breakfast was cold and very sparse. This is one of if not the worse hotel experience I've ever had. Shameful for a large hotel business.

Had a lovely night's stay after a gig in Swansea. The staff were very friendly and accommodating without exception. In the morning we had a decent cooked breakfast and took advantage of the free access to the pool at the leisure centre that was included in the price of our stay. Aberavon beach is a gem too. It's not a flashy hotel and I don't think anyone is expecting it to be. The attention to detail and care put in by the staff takes this place up a level from your average Travelodge or Premier Inn in my opinion. So when you weigh that up with the price it's a 5 star experience.

I understand that there are new owners of this lovely hotel. Who in their wisdom decided to cut staff hours and staff. Hence you have long wait times at reception when the receptionist has to work both reception and bar ditto when the barman has to work bar and wait on and clean tables you even have the night porter lending a hand behind the bar. But saying that the staff worked damned hard.and was always very pleasant the room was clean the bath water hot. As for the meals I'm afraid they were very hit and miss payed 26.00 for a rib eye steak that turned up blue and odly enough had changed into rump.the second steak wS cooked to perfection but again was not rib eye but the cheaper rump .saying all that I would stay again disappointed that the advertised pool was not open.

Room was too warm, no airflow we couldn't sleep. Air-conditioning was great in corridors pity they didn't have in the rooms! We checked out a day early (had paid 3 nights) and they didn't even ask why!! Service at the bar and food was awful, expensive drinks

Staff are great. However this has to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. This hotel hasn't been updated since the early 90s. Internet is awful. Facilities are awful. Overall terrible hotel!

Dated and in need of some TLC. Arriving in darkness, I only realised how dreadful it looks from the outside when I went for my morning run. Had I taken notice or looked in Google Street View prior to booking I may have chosen somewhere else to stay. Inside though, it's reasonable for the price, however in significant need of a face lift. The rooms have antiquated furniture and fixings (you won't find a USB charger here). Luckily I was only here one night, and paid for by my company so I couldn't have too much to complain about. The bed was comfortable enough and the room was spacious.

Room was not very clean. TV remote was worn & behind TV very dusty-old dust. Had to clean the bath before I could use it. Restaurant was cold & unwelcoming at breakfast. Staff very helpful, but had to wait over an hour to be served for an evening meal in the bar, after working a 12 hour shift. Cleared tables myself, as only 1 person serving behind the bar, taking food orders & looking after the restaurant. The girl doing all this, on her own, remained calm, cheerful, helpful & positive. I won’t be staying here again! I will be staying in Port Talbot, during the week, for about a year. Have asked my company for another hotel - let’s hope it’s a better experience.

Had a very enjoyable two night stay during the sunniest weekend this year. Good sized rooms with sea view, friendly staff and an excellent breakfast, the location really couldn't be better, just across from the beach. The inside is much more attractive than the outside! Very happy with my stay and hope to go back soon.

The manager monty and some of the staff were nice like amy scott joanne teresa but some the others didn't make you feel welcome and the barman is a masive perv towards staff and guests if I were in charge

Just visited for a function it was convenient but could really do with a face-lift. And update.

Only things going for this place is the staff and the position on the sea front. The rooms are very cheaply refurbished, no sound proofing. The pool facilities were out of use, looks like they have been for sometime. The bar area isn’t too bad, needs a bit of tlc, probably wouldn’t stay here again, the price of the room reflects the quality of the hotel in our opinion

Dog friendly hotel all the staff were excellent, when I stayed there the exterior didn't seem to be very inviting but once you have entered it was a nice surprise, good interior all round hope to visit again soon

Comfortable beds and friendly staff with convenient location made this a good base for a weekend stay. The room was clean (a few spots missed in the bathroom) a good size and well equipped. However, windows were filthy and the decor is decidedly dated! Furnishings and fixtures are good quality but showing signs of wear and tear. Seagull nest on the flat roof outside - they had no respect for my need of a lie in on Sunday morning!! ( I know it’s not the hotel fault but hopefully they may take steps to deter future nesting in that area?) We ate an evening meal in the restaurant and the food was very good - fresh salads, tasty meal with good quality ingredients and reasonably priced, staff were accommodating and friendly. I again have issues with the decor- dated and so many different patterns, colours and styles clash in the public areas! Maybe styled by Laurence Llewelyn Bowman back in the 80’s?!!! We had repeated problems with the key cards not working to get back into our rooms and were told that keeping them near a mobile phone wipes them (if that’s the case, maybe issue that information on check in?) However staff sorted the issue quickly and cheerfully each time. Parking was plentiful and the proximity to the beautiful beach was lovely. There are nice restaurants and cafes nearby and it’s an easy 10 minute drive into Swansea. Recommended as it was good value for the price - comfortable and pretty clean, nice welcoming staff.

It's a hotel on the seafront for not a lot of money with friendly staff and an exterior that belies its interior. Would happily stay again.

Aberavon is a bit of a hole, further exacerbated by the appearance of this hotel and its filthy foyer and unfriendly reception. I frequently stay at BW Hotels, they are generally unique or quirky but clean and good value. This one not so good unfortunately.

Not upto standard. Needs alot of maintenance in all areas of the hotel. Lifts stinks of Dogs.... (i would suggest since the hotel charges extra fee for accomadating pets, least you could do is disinfectant the carpets frequently) water pressure plus hot water in the showers are very poor. Rooms doesnt have aircon 😒 The entire hotel is crying out for a upgrade!!!!

  • 1/5 Ceri H. 2 years ago on Google
Pretty awful. The room smelled of an old people's home, decor was dated, burn marks and stains on the curtains and bedding. Won't return.

An inflated name for this Hotel ! On driving up wanted to run ! Not too bad inside , very pleasant helpful staff , should have standard prices for bar , Sam e two drinks from one night to next an inflated price of £2.50 ,on querying this was told it was the Managers pricing ?? On the morning of leaving utter shambles ,no senior staff , two teenagers who thought it was more important to lay tables that no one were using than to bring out glasses for juice , no bread for toast , no butter or spread and generally not bothered Shame on the Manager who the night previous was bragging about how well things were ..shame he wasn’t about! Not a place to be recommended , Shame as it is on a lovely seafront

Upon arriving I was expecting the worst based on first impressions...How wrong could I be!! Reception was sparkling clean and receptionist more than helpful..Bedroom was also more than acceptable.. If they want to improve first impressions then get somebody to cut the grass and tidy up the front.. Would I come again..Absolutely based on cost and location.

Restaurant staff are very rude and abrupt. Food is awful and extremely overpriced. Reception lady’s are nice to deal with. Fan in the room covered in dust and broken on arrival. Cobwebs over windows also. Great location if looking for somewhere with your dog as the beach is just over the road

  • 3/5 Ari R. 2 years ago on Google
The location of the hotel is excellent, right across a huge stretch of quiet sandy beach. Big advantage is that dogs are allowed to stay in certain rooms. On the negative side, I found the hotel quite dirty with litter strewn about near the entrance and the room carpets looked stained. Also, you'd have to remember to ask for a room clean the day before, every time you wanted it to be cleaned.

Do not make the mistake of judging this hotel by its sea worn appearance! The room decor is smart with a sea view, bed is so, so comfortable, a delicious breakfast, so doggie friendly and staff are polite and helpful. We came down from Walsall to visit family and will definitely stay again next time, thank you Best Western.

The room was lovely, very clean.the lift looked very dated & dirty. The breakfast was lukewarm & I was annoyed a guest took the last 3 sausages to give them to his dog. On entering the breakfast room a reception staff had left her post to get a piled highbreakfast for herself.

Had read other reviews before visiting. Yes, it's a little tired in some areas, but the rooms were clean as were all the public areas. The staff were friendly and most read their customers well with good interactions ( particularly the young restaurant staff and the the barman). The food was really good. Plentiful and tasty. Would happily visit again

This hotel is placed in a prime location by the beach with beach view rooms. The staff are really lovely but the hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment and modernisation, which has started. Will be interesting to see what the result is.

Ceilings were leaking and the floors were damp, couldn’t lock the doors from the inside. Breakfast and wifi was amazing its alright if only staying for 2-3 nights.

the hotel was nice. The downstairs area was well done, clean and modern the room was clean and tidy just a bit tired but they are in the middle of refurbishment the location was great right on the beach front well worth the money the breakfast was nice but only one lady serving and she was doing her best all in all worth the money

Nice hotel on the sea front a little dated but refurbishment taking place, leisure facilities are closed due to awaiting parts but they do give out leisure voucher to use at the next door leisure centre on request. Warm welcome on arrival checking in no issues, room 309 with a fantastic view over Swansea Bay/ Aberavon Beach. Nice new comfy bed slept very well, bathroom could be better in need of some tlc and better water pressure. Breakfast very nice self services good food, staff friendly. Onside car park free but bit of a security issues as no lights working during our stay at night. Will be back in the future to see how the refurbishment is going and enjoy exploring Port Talbot/ bay area.

The hotel itself is a very 70s looking building. Inside the rooms were actually lovely. Although quite small to normal hotels now the beds were so comfortable and bedding etc were lovely. The mattress were very high..but the were to die for. I do want ti say and guve a shout out to rees and simon who were on reception last night. They were so so so helpful. They went above and beyond to help my elderly mom who struggled on tbe high bed. They made our stay perfect. We came on tbe hotest day of the year. Our view waa tge sea so we were lucky. There was a wedding next door which i thought would disturb us but it didn't. We couldnt hear any music..so all in all a great night. Great hotel and most of the most amazing staff.

Good location but hotel is generally scruffy around the edges for the price. The pool was closed and they were allowing dogs to stay in the hotel for some event which was bizarre. Nearly a sea view but mostly view of an abandoned building and fire exit.

Been here so many times, and will continue to do so. The Hotel inside is lovely, staff pleasant and friendly. Room (seaview) perfect, definitely recommend seaview room. Been here with and without my dog. It's fantastic, gorgeous big sandy beach. Local chippy, shop, Chinese , indian restaurant, pool, cinema. And more along the seafront, including toilets, play park, splash pad, cafes, ice cream.... Steel works, and huge shops, make this place more interesting. We will continue to stay here, we have never been disappointed 😁

Do NOT do it to yourself unless like us it's just somewhere to get your head down for the night. Breakfast wasn't too bad. A dirty, run down, smelly place with Christmas tunes mocking it's sad apparel mid January. Absolutely pity the reception staff handing over keys to unsuspecting guests. The whole place needs gutting or forget the rooms that overlook the back and utilise the view from the road and invest in those rooms. Staff tried their very best but when you're surroundings are sh!t, you're going to eventually smell like it too.

Stayed here many times over last 13 years. Lovely hotel. Yes, may look a little dated from outside but clean and tidy inside. Room sizes can vary but have always found them to be clean and comfortable. Lovely quiet location right on the beach/ promenade, which has a small range of eateries ,play areas for children.Staff have always been friendly and helpful.

  • 2/5 Rakesh M. 2 years ago on Google
Very good location but the Hotel is in bad shape and needs major refurbishment works. Attitude of reception staff is not great and not willing to help guests. Lack of staff during Breakfast hours and hence have to wait long for Breakfast.

Had a wonderful two nights stay and was looked after very well, food & staff were excellent, room was so cosy & comfortable, looking forward to my next stay & will be bringing my dog Tara with me which will gives me great peace of mind as she doesn't like being without me.

Excellent staff Rachel and Teresa and Sam and all the clean stuff for absolutely lovely to us and gave us a lovely stay. We will definitely try and come down there again. It was fantastic. Food was lovely. Breakfast was lovely every morning and they were so very helpful. Give me nice directions to where we needed to

Absolutely lovely hotel - plenty of space in the bar area to sit and relax. The room was a good size with a bath and shower and a few toiletries supplied. The bed was very comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities were great. Lovely location over looking the beach with a nice restaurant close by called The Front which had delicious food and a beautiful view of the beach. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Stayed in the hotel whilst on a photographic workshop. The staff were excellent and the food was good. Had seen on website that some decoration work was ongoing after recent storms had damaged hotel but this did not affect the stay or experience. Would stay again.

Has to be the worst best Weston ever. Booked online arrived and decided not to unpack cost me £85 to cancel. On arrival people drinking out of cans and smoking in the doorway very off putting. The receptionist not helpful and you could tell had no interest in her job. The place is dated and looks awful inside and outside. Does not look the most charming area. Best Weston need spend money on this place. Bookings .com need to remove from there website.

The Aberavon Hotel is a lovely place to go for coffee as the comfortable lounge is relaxing with a friendly atmosphere. We had a really lovely meal and the Lasagne was so flavoursome and the presentation was excellent. The wine is very good quality and the best I have had anywhere. We will definitely be dining out there very soon.

Its a bit of a naff area but there's a small beach and we was only visiting friends so was ok for us. Hotel had alot of water damage and we definitely wouldn't of booked if we knew about it but we was only made aware by entering the lift and reading a sign on the wall saying they had suffered damage from the storm in February 2 months ago. On exiting the lift the state of the walls and ceiling in the corridors were obvious. Rooms were OK... dated but mostly clean - there was a food splatter mark up the wall and the odd water mark from the damage but we didn't need to touch the wall and the bed, kettle, mugs and bathroom were clean which was the main thing I guess. Receptionist on the first night was very blunt and we felt like we was being awkward if we asked any questions like pool opening times as wasn't written anywhere but the staff the next night were lovely.

  • 2/5 Oliver W. 1 year ago on Google
Great location. However I'd say this is a 2 star hotel with 5 star employees. The staffers were very professional and attentive. However the building could do with significant upgrade.

  • 3/5 Shane M. 1 year ago on Google
Whilst this place is right on the sea front and the noise of the waves helped with sleep the room and hotel was tired and I wasn't really made to feel welcomed, breakfast service was slow (to the point I nearly gave up both mornings) overall plenty of room for improvement. The hotel does have a pool though, I didn't get chance to try it but it's a shame it wasn't good as otherwise I think I would have taken my boys here at some point.

  • 3/5 David D. 1 year ago on Google
Good size room parking was off the road making it feel safe, close to the beach and amenities. Down side was staff couldn't make up their minds when or if the pool was open. The cook needs lessons on how to cook the bacon was undercooked the sausages were pink in the middle. Yes it maybe a dog friendly hotel but a air freshener is needed. And staff need to keep an eye on other guest as some sound like they playing football until 2am.

  • 4/5 Skatoony 1 year ago on Google
The ballroom is fabulous for an event or occasion but it doesn't have air conditioning so its really warm, the rooms are the same no air con but there are little fans if its boiling I would advise taking a big fan with you. As for the staff I was disappointed that during the night we had speeches going on and the bar staff were smashing bottles into the bottle bin even though the rest of the room was quiet I thought that was really rude. Reception staff and Managers were lovely as always

  • 3/5 Vassilis P. 1 year ago on Google
From the outside it looks really bad. Big bath which I very much enjoyed it. The rooms were ok and quite clean. Most staff very polite apart from one lady in the reception who didn't want to give us a fan because we were going to break it, or steal it . The hotel was pretty expensive possibly because there are not many in the area. Jacuzzi closed. Pool was ok. Their bacon for the breakfast amazing. Nice big safe parking. Far from the shops. There is a small chippy and off licence at the back, although they have closed the way and you have to make a circle in the dark..

  • 3/5 Aimee B. 1 year ago on Google
Firstly the good points. Staff are friendly and helpful, the location is right on the seafront and the room is clean and spacious for the price. The bad points, we asked for an iron and although we got one they didn't have an ironing board so we had to use a towel. The swimming pool was closed down which was disappointing. The worst part though was our room seemed to have a water pipe in the walls by the bed which dropped LOUDLY throughout the day and night, making it very hard to sleep. Thank goodness we had sound proof headphones! Didn't end up sleeping well for the 2 night stay we had and definitely needed coffee ☕

Good 3 star accomodation which caters for those of us travelling with a dog. Ideally located on the beach front which is open to dog walk October to April with a small section available during the summer season. Breakfast etc is available to be eaten in the lounge by the restaurant when taking your pet downstairs for meals. Will definitely stay again when visiting family.

Stayed here for a wedding. The staff were lovely and the buffet food was ok. The place itself is a little tired and in need if updating. The carpet in the halls looks wet in places but isn't, could do with being g replaced. A few problems with the room, dirty chair where it hasn't been cleaned. The duvet topper was frayed on the edge. The ceiling in the corner needed painting. Bathroom was clean but a little outdated. Bit pricey for the standards of the room, but the bed was comfy. No air-conditioning, could've done with this with it being one of the hotest days in record. Beautiful view out of the window

  • 5/5 Adrian B. 2 years ago on Google
The decor is a bit worn and the shower could be warmer, but the service was great and from what I could see the place was clean. Breakfast was good and included in the cost of the room. Can't argue for under £50 for the night. Great value 👍

  • 4/5 Peter C. 2 years ago on Google
While a little old fashioned my one night stay here was perfectly comfortable and it was convenient for my planned work the next day. This was booked via a third party website and flagged as having a socket but the bed which turned out to be false. They still use mini toiletries rather than the dispensers seen at a lot of budget hotels now to reduce plastic waste. Would be happy to stay here again.

Lovely views, leisure centre just next door with a pool and great restaurant down the road. Swimming pool in hotel closed for season , nothing noted online listing, disappointing.

Very bad first impression. Drab, old building. Not so bad inside, but in need of some refurbishment. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean and comfortable. Service at bar poor, not manned all the time and long wait when ringing bell. Food very poor, evening meal & breakfast. Fortunately there are good eateries nearby, recommended by receptionist. I was given a free drink at the bar after complaining!
