Lovely food, I have had Hunters Chicken and my partner had regular carvery. Both were lovely, The Ultimate Beef Burger / Cowboy Burger is really nice!

We just love this place. It's our 1st choice for Sunday lunch and this year we took my mum there for her birthday. We've also done Christmas lunch last year because we love it so much. Such a warm welcoming atmosphere and the team are fantastic! I was unable to make Christmas lunch as I'd been discharged from hospital on Christmas eve but they let my husband bring my dinner home in takeaway boxes which I thought was lovely 💖. We always recommend it to everyone.. its just fab !

We have lived in Port Talbot a few years now, and have avoided this pub when it was known as the copper penny, as it had a pretty poor reputation. My wife decided it was time to give it go, based on the pretty good reviews the place had, my expectations were high. As carverys go it's been many years since we have found a good one. Unfortunately that trend hasn't be broken here. While hot, the food lacked much flavour, the meat on offer was small and not very generous, the veg plentiful but either overcooked or underdone. The food wasn't inedible its was just bland. If your looking to eat out on a budget and are not fussy, it's probably a great place. The beer was cold and of good quality so no grumbles there. We will probably go back and try a different offering from the menu, perhaps that may be better, but on this occasion we were disappointed.

My son attended the kids Halloween party on Saturday that was great and he really enjoyed. I think it's amazing the events the pub is putting on for children and adults for the community. We also enjoyed our meal, cooked lovely and good friendly and attentive service by Codie :)

Went there for food around 5 o’clock on a Sunday as was told they had run out of carvery. Which was shocking as we was told it was on till 7:30. Anyway stayed and had main menu. We ordered two steak, they were not cooked properly, the chips were covered in black bits because they were cooked in old oil. No one came to check on us to correct our food and when plates were cleared again no one asked how our food was. Extremely disappointed with the food and service

A good option if in the area. Good menu and ample seating. Large car park. Food is tasty and well cooked. The only issue was the child's portion of garlic bread which was one piece for £1.50, however her burger was plentiful.

Wish I’d read the reviews first. On a mixed grill the chicken was cold and the steak was so tough I couldn’t eat it, would’ve needed a hacksaw to cut the thing. The gammon was ridiculously salty. The best thing about the meal was the chips, but £16.50 is a lot to pay if that’s the only decent part of the meal. Facility and toilets clean and staff friendly and helpful.

We popped in for the first time lunch time as was in the area, was a nice place, very quiet, and we only had a drink each, which we all enjoyed. As I was driving I had a pint of pop, I do wish that pubs in general should charge a lot less for non alcoholic drinks then they do. Would go back again, and perhaps try the food, carvery looked nice .

The staff were super friendly and helpful. I was going to have the carvery but the meat and veg looked as if it had been out for quite a while so we opted for the plated menu. I had the spicy burger and my partner had the southern fried Hunters chicken which we both very much enjoyed. It was all freshly cooked and just tasted wonderful so we'll Defford be coming back. Even my little dog enjoyed his freshly cooked sausage and helped me finish my burger off. Thanks guys!

Bar staff and waiting staff were very nice. The pub is starting to look very worn out. The food was really bad, fish and chips was tasteless and full of oil when you cut the fish. Mac and cheese with garlic bread, well I'm still looking for the cheese. Two pieces of garlic bread both cold on e was over cooked and greasy the other was undercooked and more like bread lightly toasted on one side and also greasy. Drinks were fine. Desserts were limited, apple pie and custard was nice but not hot. Rocky Road Sunday was mainly ice cream and cream only 1 piece of brownie and half a dozen marshmallows. Really poor for the price.

Arrived at 4pm for a birthday bash, 16 people, we all ordered different meals at the bar and when we informed them we were ready the order was released to the kitchen. All meals were served as one with very little waiting. Everyone enjoyed, good atmosphere families welcome, Would recommend.

Had a lovely Carvery with my friend and our boys, the food was so good we all cleared our plates and enjoyed puddings that we could barely fit but was worth the force!! The staff are world class, have a great banter and can't do enough for you! Clearly the new management has cleaned up the place! Keep up the great work!

I had a lovely lunch at your fine establishment recently and I thought I’d write a review. I don’t normally do this sort of thing but the food and service was brilliant. My compliments to the man behind the bar, I think his name was James? he was very chatty and outgoing and just made the whole experience a lot more enjoyable.

On arrival we had a warm welcome at the front door. Tom (I think) showed us to our table and was friendly. I had the carvery, which was very pleasant; everything on my plate had flavour and tasted of what it should have, which I haven't always had in the past with a carvery. The only downside in my experience was the queue at the bar and the slightly wobbly table (10)!

Had an 8oz sirloin steak and honestly was like a rubber boot.. not the best at all.. although my wife had the chicken and bacon salad and said it was lovely.. and £7.50 for a glass of wine is over the odds.. all in all I'm not returning anytime soon

Very disappointed. Arrived 4.30 approx. The food looked alright but tasted awful. Obviously we timed it wrong and the meat and veg were suffering under the lights. Meat beef tough, Chicken dry, because of the lights. Roast Potatoes were tough and dry, mash good, gravy very thick and goopy, I just could not eat it. It was just stewed. If you go in and order food. you should be told it’s all been sitting under the lights for a long time drying out. I would have ordered something different. We told the person who served us and she said perhaps I can do something you haven’t ate much. But she did not return to the table. I would have appreciated her return just to say something, so that left us feeling disappointed with the food and the service. So if you want a carvery you have to time it right when everything is freshly cooked and not dried up and still served.

Very much enjoyed our meal here. Seemed to be quite a busy place but plenty of tables. We didn't need to book ahead, but visited on a Wednesday night so peak days/ times may need a booking. Staff were friendly and selection of food/drinks was plentiful. Portions were generous in my opinion and food tasted good. Would go again no problem.

Came here Friday afternoon, had the Burger and fries with onion rings and my wife had the carvery, both meals were lovely. The burger was stunning and my wife said the meat on the carvery was lovely and soft. Booked here for Christmas Day, hope it's just as nice then 😀

I had a great veggie burger from the menu, sadly the 3 others with me who had the carvery were less than impressed. The veg options were lacking and those that were available were poorly cooked. Yorkshire puddings looked impressive but were chewy. The veggie burger was tasty with great texture, the fries were perfectly crispy and delicious. Just an ok visit.

Came earlier than booked, lady kindly fitted us in, even though it was very busy. Queue at the bar, so someone else jumped on to bring Queue down. Friendly bar staff. Carvery staff looked miserable. Carvery and veg well stocked, so was gravy. Meal was very tasty, best Carvery there in a while, not that I'm saying I've had a bad Carvery

Very nice staff, they forgot the vegetarian carvery and had to be reminded but when it came out my sister said it was very nice. The roast potatoes were a little dissapointing but everything else on the carvery was lovely.

Absolutely fantastic experience here, served by the lovely Tia and waited on by Liz who was helpful, bubbly and nothing was too much trouble! The food was really good, the vegan cauliflower wings and the mashed potatoes especially. Had a great time, can't wait to go back!

We had the carvery today and all I can say is the gravy was like dirty dish water with no flavour at all. The veg what was there was bland. On the upside the gammon and turkey were good but the beef was bloody awful like chewing carpet.

The food was of a very good standard, drinks and food excellently priced. The staff were a credit to the company. They managed to be both very efficient and yet extremely friendly and sociable. Top marks all around.

To be honest prices here have gone quite expensive, especially for the quality of the food. Had the 8oz rump steak which was fatty. Also, paid £2 extra for beef dripping and merlot sauce. Yet seen the chef use gravy from the carvery and just add a little red wine to it. Not exactly beef dripping!

Loved it here. All the of us had carvery. Bed was a little red, which was great for me but put other customers off. The chef offered to cook it more if people preferred. All the veg along with the meats were well cooked and delicious. Great service asking if anything was needed and available when required but not constantly hovering. Friendly, happy atmosphere, would recommend it to everyone and already talking about going back again soon.

After waiting for over 30 minutes standing in the doorway for a table in a queue ,eventually sat at our table ,then waited in another queue for carvery for over another half hr ,we actually ate our food at 4.15 our sitting was 2.15. The chef ,felt sorry for him, I understand they were short staff , but he was serving 1 or 2 people then he spent more time back and fore kitchen refilling all the hotplates. Thought we would give it another go after last year when one of the ovens broke down and we ate at 5. So unfortunately we won't be going next year. BUT i will say the bar staff & Waiters & Waitresses worked so hard to get it all to run as smoothly as they could , so hats off to them.😉 👏 And the food was gorgeous it was such a shame, spoilt it really.

Poor Sunday carvery. Went for a vegetarian option waited ages, so sent the rest of the family up to get theirs, only to be told by family that mine was standing to the side going cold for ages! No staff member informed me that my food was ready. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me here. Also not much choice with vegetables, was expecting cabbage, broccoli etc but only peas and sweetcorn. Family member wanted stuffing and was told when ready they would bring to the table. This didn't happen. Not impressed with the food or service. 1st time I had poor service I put it down as a one off but won't be returning, this seems to be just how they are. Expensive for what you have (or don't have!).

We both had a carvery. The service at the bar (Kylie) was polite and efficient. The guy serving the carvery was pleasant. All the food was well cooked, hot and tasted fine. There was a decent selection of vegetables. The meat was delicious...and I had a selection of beef, turkey and gammon. The only slight suggestion I would make for improvement would be that the gravy was very thin and could be made thicker. Other than this, everything was great and we were impressed with the value for money.

I was very happy with the service we had. Unfortunately due to a technical problem the venue was unaware of my online booking but this was not a problem and the staff were very quick to adjust tables and seat us (party of 12 with a wheelchair user). The staff were very happy and made us feel welcome including my children (aged 10 and 4). Everyone enjoyed their meals and had a good time. Made a family get together pleasant! Thank you
