Weird
little
place.
This
is
the
smallest
Quality
Inn
I've
ever
seen.
The
architecture,
decor,
furniture
and
fixtures
all
look
like
this
place
was
built
in
the
early
90's
and
aside
from
the
electronics,
nothing
has
been
updated
since.
The
"suite"
is
tiny
and
somewhat
claustrophobic.
It's
like
they
took
the
space
of
a
normal
budget
hotel
room
and
split
it
up
into
two
rooms
with
a
bathroom
in
the
middle.
So
both
rooms,
the
sitting
area
and
the
bedroom,
are
very
small.
It's
not
filthy
but
housekeeping
could
be
better.
There
were
a
few
hairs
on
the
wall
in
the
shower,
dirt
around
the
edges
of
the
bed
between
the
mattress
and
the
box
spring
and
paint
was
peeling
off
the
ceiling
in
the
bedroom.
Carpet
had
this
weird
sort
of
greasy
feeling
so
I
wore
my
shower
shoes
instead
of
walking
around
barefoot.
Fixtures
are
well-worn
and
the
towel
rack
was
coming
off
the
wall
in
the
bathroom.
Also
the
room
reeked
of
30
years
of
cigarette
smoke.
I
grew
up
in
the
70's
when
everything
smelled
like
cigarette
smoke
so
it
doesn't
bother
me
too
much
but
your
mileage
may
vary.
Checked
for
bed
bugs
and
didn't
find
any.
My
room
and
several
others,
I'm
guessing
also
suites,
had
a
big
picture
window
in
the
sitting
room
that
looks
out
into
the
hallway
inside
the
hotel.
First
time
I've
ever
seen
that.
I'm
assuming
they
did
that
because
they
wanted
to
put
a
window
in
the
sitting
room
but
I'm
certainly
not
going
to
open
the
drapes
and
put
my
room
on
display
for
whoever
happens
to
be
walking
down
the
hall.
Of
course
keeping
those
drapes
closed
makes
the
room
feel
like
a
cave.
A
small,
claustrophobic
cave.
On
a
positive
note,
judging
by
the
noise
and
construction
equipment,
they
seem
to
be
doing
some
renovation.
No
time
like
the
present.
Overall
this
place
has
a
weird,
oppressive
vibe
to
it
and
feels
like
you're
stepping
into
a
time
capsule
from
30
years
ago.
I
come
up
here
for
work
semi-regularly
and
may
or
may
not
be
back
to
this
property.
The
only
other
Choice
Hotels
property
in
this
area
that
isn't
trash
is
the
Comfort
Inn
&
Suites
in
Merrillville
but
that
place
is
starting
to
go
downhill
as
well.
