Genuinely enjoyed my visit even though a snow storm rolled in. The video presentation was very well done and informative. The actors/staff I met were so knowledgeable and friendly. The person with the musket, I could listen to him for hours speak on the history of the fort. I highly recommend visiting this place any time of the year. One of the best historical sites I’ve been to so far.

Astoundingly well preserves and organized historical site. It puts many to shame and the staff here (who are part of the historical society) are top notch and very well informed. The video in the theatre is very well done (also available on YouTube if you wish) and quite informative. There is a musket demonstration once and hour (on weekends) and even when it's busy you will not feel crowded, the property is expansive. Highly recommend!

This historic place is wonderful for family excursions or field trips. However, not really geared towards kids under 5. They have different tours and demonstrations as well as special events. Call or check online for their schedule. They have a snack bar with slushies, ice cream, milkshakes, and more.

This place is absolutely beautiful and full of history. If you are visiting Niagara Falls, you have to visit Fort Niagara! The museum is small but nice as is the gift shop. But what you're really there for is the fort, and it does not disappoint in my opinion! You can go almost anywhere in the fort and see amazing views. There is also a place to buy and eat food in one of the buildings. Also make sure to check out one of the demonstrations. They are fun to watch and the person doing them is very knowledgeable. Much to our surprise, dogs are allowed! We bought our pup through the museum, gift shop, and the entire fort without issue!

I really enjoyed visiting this Fort! Before you get started there is a little museum with a short film. We chose to take a quick guided tour to give us a back ground in the history. After we were lucky to see some demonstrations of the canon ball and the firing of the musket rifle. The “Soldiers” and “civilians” were doing re-enactments while walking through the buildings so it felt real, I could hear yelling from the look out towers on the other side of the fort. The castle on site was gorgeous, the details inside were pretty amazing, from the stained windows to the stone work throughout was beautiful. When you’re all done there is a very nice gift shop on site where you can purchase trinkets, books and t-shirts. Highly recommend for history lovers to check this great fort out.

Worth the drive and price Fantastic history. If your lucky and get Jim for your tour guide, you are in for a treat. Great person to tell you about the fort. It was great to walk through old buildings and learn history of Fort Niagara.

A Glimpse into History with a Pricey Admission Old Fort Niagara offers a picturesque setting with captivating views of the Niagara River. The historical significance of the fort is evident, and the scenic surroundings are a definite highlight. However, while the views are impressive, the fort's interior might not captivate everyone's interest as much. The exhibits and displays, while informative, may not offer the depth of engagement some visitors seek. One downside is the relatively high admission fee, which may not align with the overall experience provided. It's essential to consider this factor when planning a visit. In summary, Old Fort Niagara offers a pleasant outing for those interested in history and scenic views. However, the admission cost may be a consideration for some visitors.

A well maintained old castle and fort that is super cool to visit if you’re into history. Staff are very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to for stories and interesting facts. Demonstrations were very cool. A very good stop on any vacation.

Admission is $20 for an adult. I feel like the fee should be like $10-15. It’s a cool place to visit. A lot of history. It’s not super crowded so you won’t have to worry about people’s heads photo bombing your pictures. The drive here was very straight forward. You can spend 3-4 hours here. They do some have demonstrations here. Employees were very nice.

A must see if you are in the Niagara Falls area! Really great piece of French, British and American history that has been well preserved with neatly restored grounds. Fun museum with a great video and even better tour guide. Musket and drum presentations every hour. The cherry, on top is the historic flag, made by the same manufacturer, the same size, and five years before, the “old glory” of Fort McHenry. Plan for 90 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how much you take in. Worthwhile little café inside the fort.

This is a must visit if you visit Buffalo or Niagara Falls. This is hidden gem. If Niagara Falls is a tad overhyped, then this place doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Especially if you love visiting real history, this is one of a kind in North America. This fort has been held by 3 countries over the last 300 years - by the French, British and the Americans. At least for my wife and I, we loved this much more than Falls. 2-3 hrs is sufficient. The lady at the reception was nice and gave us a mini tour of the place.

The tour was great even on a rainy day. Except for the food. The burger was microwaved. Loved the musket shooting and wished they could have shot off the cannons but it was raining so I can understand. The experience was awesome. Highly recommend if you're in the part of New York.

Visiting this fort was on our to do list while up in Niagara Falls. After admission there is a museum that also includes a short film. Following the museum we went out into the grounds of the Fort. It’s a good walk and not all the paths are paved so wear proper attire. Every hour on the hour the “Soldiers” fire a musket rifle however, in our case the rifle didn’t go off even after 6 attempts. The “Soldiers” and “civilians” were doing re-enactments while walking through the buildings so it felt immersive. The castle on site is gorgeous, the details inside were pretty amazing, from the stained windows to the stone work throughout are beautiful. The rooms and the chapel were very pretty. Once you finish your tour there is a gift shop on site where you can purchase trinkets, books and t-shirts. If you are a history lover I recommend you go check this great fort out.

Very interesting and well restored place. The staff was friendly and the reenactors are knowledgeable and approachable. The musket demonstration is a crowd pleaser for sure.

We was neat to step back in history. The day we went, it was rainy and cool. We were thankful the gift shop had umbrellas for sale even though we did have rain jackets on. There were a group of elementary kids on their way out when we arrived. They waited long enough for the musket shooting demonstration. They were impressed for sure! After, the demonstration, the kids wers noisier than the musket firing lol. It was wet and a little muddy walking through but we enjoyed it anyway.

Great fort from the past. American history was written here. Open all year.
