👍👍 I liked everything - I mean this place have a soul. Very fresh fish, good thing that you can go and pick up fish you want! During summertime expect to stay in the queue not sure if they are making reservations 😉we had to stay and wait to get table for two but it was quite fast. People often mention fish, good, service, restaurant, friendly, nice,

We really enjoyed the whole experience! Lovely staff, attentive but not overly. Gorgeous food, good portion sizes and brilliant location!

If you go and like the Octopus they have one make in the oven, unfortunately I did not take any photo and the T- bone steak is really good as my friend enjoyed it. I had one nice black sole made on the barbecue as well.

In our experience, this is the best restaurant on the water front in Alvor. Service is friendly, food is good, everyone enjoys the fresh grilled fish, they are dog friendly (outside) and they have a couple of decent veggie/vegan options

At first this seemed like a decent place, however when it came to ordering food. I made the waiter (a larger tall male) aware of my allergies and was met with sarcasm when asking if the food I requested contained any of this. My mum ordered a tuna steak and was asked “how would you like it cooked” her reply was ‘well done please.’ The waiter said “you shouldn’t have it well done it isn’t how it’s meant to be cooked”. We insisted on it being well done. Anyway the appetisers were lovely! We had the tuna pate, Portuguese sausage and Portuguese garlic bread (is was toasted bread with garlic oil) The food arrived my dads pork fillet was dry and tasteless. The tuna steak didn’t come well done, we had to send it back. The potatoes on the plate were also dry and tasteless. My food was okay however they gave me the one thing I was allergic to and forgot to give the side dish I had requested. We had to ask for this again. The rice was overdone dry and bland. When the food was being sent back a plumper lady with short hair and blonde highlights snatched the plate took it back came out and poured my dad a refill of the wine we ordered and left mine and my mums glasses empty she then slammed the bottle in to the cooler. When collecting the food the same lady took everything all but my mums food and ignored the plate entirely. The only time she came to us with a smile was to ask if we wanted dessert. I was going to give this a 4 star because other staff were nice, friendly and helpful and the appetisers were nice. But because of such terrible attitude and dry food it must be a 2 star. I’d definitely say avoid and try another restaurant around.

Love the grilled fish, which is based on the catch of the day. So fresh and so tasty.

Although the food was excellent, the waiter questioned the order for my 16 year old son believing that he may not like what he ordered. However, the biggest issue was my order of fish which was not priced on the board, it was a per kg order. In my experience what normally occurs is that they bring the fish to the table weighed so you can understand how much the dish would cost. This didn’t happen and the fish was cooked and served and when the bill came it was 41 euros for the fish.maybe i was naive but i find it unacceptable to not know how much your meal would cost….we will not be going there again and i advise people to be wary.

Delicious fishy place! Loved the seabass and the calamari.

No complaints about the quality of the food or service. This is unfortunately offset by the extremely excessive price of certain fish of the day. CHECK the prices before ordering. When we approached the the manager/ lead waiter about this we were met with a much less than friendly response. 😐

Ababuja is well located by the river side and has pretty end of day views. We came early and were able to get a table outside - we enjoyed our meal watching the sunset, listening to live music, and seeing the grill fast at work while people pass by on the streets. The environment was 5 stars and the food was good. However, the waiters were nervous. It’s a large restaurant and they looked busy. I think they have to manage better or get a larger team so that customers don’t have to wait too long and the servers don’t look upset.

We had a lovely lunch at Ababuja, the sardines were nice cooked and the other meals were very generous and reasonably priced. Will eat here again. The view was also amazing over looking the sea.

Nice view over the harbour. We had delicious grilled sea bass which came with a (small) side of potatoes and we also ordered a creamed spinach. The waiter offered to de- bone the fish which was gladly accepted. For improvement - house red wasn't good, service friendly but unorganised and prices high, double any of our other meals cost in Portugal (€100 for 2 people)

One of the best fish restaurants I've ever tried in my life. The food is amazing, and I would advise everyone to try it. It's more than worth the trip based on the food. I'm gonna say the food is 5 stars, and you'll eat some amazing fish. Now the reason for the 3 stars rating. The service is the most uncoordinated thing I've seen. I had to ask for a salad 4 times until I got up to get it. Ask for a beer? Well that might be hard as the servant will pretend to have listened to it but didn't put up the order. Basically, they are far from up to standard in the service. All of Portugal honestly is ages behind in service, it's sloppy but done with a smile on its face. To make a small recap, one of the best if not the best fish restaurant and location for it I've tried. The service needs to evolve dramatically because it's honestly frustrating to have to ask for the same thing 4 times before you are served. I will come back as I have for a long time. It's just a recurring problem, the lack of a decent service.

My experience here was not one of the best. Maybe it was my choice if meal, but the food tasted pretty bland. The vinho verde wine of the house was also not that good or even decent. View from the restaurant is nice overlooking the ships on the river.

This was truly a great place. My wife and I came here on our honeymoon and not only was the food and location excellent, the friendly staff was extremely warm and helpful. They made the difference and suggested the best dishes. Everything was fresh and delicious.
